Although Verizon was the first to introduce 5G home internet, early users expressed frustration about limited coverage and inconsistent connections. Meanwhile, T-Mobile, despite entering the market later, managed to offer “nationwide” service at launch, reaching many more households right from the start.

    T-Mobile 5G Home Internet Plans

Initially, T-Mobile offered a single, straightforward plan to its customers, making the decision process easy. Today, customers can choose from three primary plans, each with its own variations:

    • T-Mobile Rely Plan: For $45 per month or $35 if you add a T-Mobile voice line, this basic plan is geared towards casual users. With a five-year price lock, unlimited data, and a basic 5G Gateway, it’s an affordable choice. Autopay can reduce the price to as low as $40 monthly.
    • T-Mobile Amplified Plan: Starting at $65 a month (or $60 with autopay), this plan offers the same five-year price protection and unlimited data but includes a more powerful 5G gateway and “advanced cybersecurity” via the T-Life app.
    • T-Mobile “All-in” Internet Plan: At $75 per month or $70 with autopay, this plan features the enhanced 5G gateway plus a Wi-Fi extender for wider coverage. It combines cybersecurity with 24/7 video support from customer service and free Hulu and Paramount+ (essential) memberships.

    What is T-Mobile Tuesdays?

T-Mobile offers exclusive promotions to subscribers every Tuesday, akin to Verizon Perks. These deals often include discounts on dining options such as pizza from Little Caesars, movie ticket reductions, and a complimentary Slurpee from 7-Eleven each month.

Average T-Mobile 5G Home Internet Speeds

T-Mobile claims that most users experience download speeds between 87 and 318 Mbps, averaging around 250 Mbps. However, users have reported varying speeds depending on the time of day and location. According to a Reddit review, one user’s download speeds fluctuated between 23 Mbps and 331 Mbps, with uploads averaging around 35 Mbps.

    T-Mobile 5G Home Internet Coverage

As of this update, T-Mobile Home Internet is available in all 50 states, although its rollout typically occurs city by city. Customers in larger or mid-sized urban areas are more likely to have access than those in rural regions. Be sure to use T-Mobile’s availability checker.

    T-Mobile

Initially, T-Mobile’s 5G Home Internet service was accessible to around 10 million households, but that number has now expanded to over 50 million, according to company reports.

    T-Mobile Fiber Home Internet Plans

In addition to its 5G offerings, T-Mobile has recently launched fiber internet service with impressive download and upload speeds of up to 2 gigabits.

    • T-Mobile Fiber 2 Gig Plan: Priced at $110 monthly (or $90 with a voice line), this plan offers unlimited data, 2 Gbps speeds, no annual contracts, a five-year price guarantee, a Wi-Fi 6 router with extenders, and T-Mobile Tuesdays perks.
    • T-Mobile Fiber Founders Club 2 Gig Plan: Designed exclusively for first-time T-Mobile customers, this attractive offer allows access to the 2 Gbps plan for just $70 per month with autopay. It also features a remarkable ten-year price lock.

While this deal is excellent, fiber service is currently confined to 40 markets across the U.S., with aspirations to reach 12-15 million households by 2030. Check availability to see if you qualify. A Reddit discussion reveals that customers are generally satisfied, reporting stable and fast service, and many are looking forward to its expansion into other areas.

  • Switch To T-Mobile And Get Up To $3,200 Cash Back

Switch To T-Mobile And Get Up To $3,200 Cash Back

If you’re feeling dissatisfied with your current mobile carrier, T-Mobile is offering a generous incentive to switch, providing up to $800 per line for those who decide to migrate. The Carrier Freedom program allows you to retain your existing phone number while clearing any outstanding financial obligations with your previous provider. This offer might ring a bell, as it’s reminiscent of a similar initiative from AT&T.

Families can also benefit, as T-Mobile now extends this offer to up to four lines instead of the previous limit of two, potentially allowing users to receive as much as $3,200 in total. This amount is typically sufficient to cover early termination fees and any remaining debts on your device.

However, there are a few conditions. For instance, device payment plans from Verizon and prepaid arrangements are excluded from this offer. Although T-Mobile hasn’t yet updated the eligibility criteria on their website, we anticipate minimal changes from the past version of the plan.

Additionally, customers can earn up to $1,000 in bill credits for their devices, a notable increase from the previous ceiling of $830. This enables consumers to pay off an older phone and subsequently trade it in at T-Mobile for a new one. It offers a straightforward approach to extricating yourself from a less than ideal contract while also upgrading your device.

T-Mobile has also made significant strides in enhancing its service recently. As of 2024, the carrier achieved an average download speed of 200 Mbps on its 5G network. Furthermore, in December, T-Mobile partnered with Starlink to introduce satellite services, thereby broadening its coverage.

What was once considered a secondary option among carriers, T-Mobile has now solidified its standing, directly competing with AT&T and Verizon while still offering more affordable plans. For individuals seeking to cut costs, making the switch may be a worthwhile decision.

Interestingly, the Perplexity integration may also provide some level of autonomy. According to Deutsche Telekom, the AI assistant could assist with shopping and email composition without requiring users to switch between different applications.

Details are still scarce on how this AI assistant will efficiently perform tasks, but we do have some precedents. OpenAI has recently unveiled Operator, a tool capable of handling tasks like booking tickets or ordering food, while Google’s Gemini utilizes extensions to manage duties across various platforms.

Deutsche Telekom has announced that the Perplexity-driven AI phone is set for a launch in the latter half of 2025, with a retail price anticipated to be under $1,000 and availability projected for some point in 2026.

  • Like T-Mobile? Pay Your Phone Bill By Playing Games

Like T-Mobile? Pay Your Phone Bill By Playing Games

How much time do you invest in mobile gaming on your phone? Many people turn to games as a way to pass the time, but customers of Metro by T-Mobile can take it a step further by using their gaming time to help pay their phone bill. Through a partnership with the Ad It Up app, users can earn points by shopping, playing games, and completing surveys, which can then be applied to next month’s bill.

This opportunity is currently available for select carriers, such as Cricket and T-Mobile. While everyone can download the app, those using carriers beyond these will be notified that their service provider is not supported. The app features a variety of games including Coin Master, Traffic Puzzle, and Cube Master, among others. For those who enjoy puzzles, the popular game 2048 is also available to earn points.

    Clash of Clans gameplay.
Earn points for your mobile bill while enjoying games. How cool is that? Supercell

Another benefit of the app is its exclusive discounts at popular retailers like Walmart, Chewy, and Hello Fresh. By shopping, you can accumulate points, allowing you to save money while you earn points toward your bill.

With hundreds of games to choose from, the app caters to both iOS and Android users. After downloading, it tracks all the points you accumulate and provides a way to reduce your bill (or potentially cover it entirely, depending on how much time you spend earning points).

In a time when many are cautious about spending, this innovative and enjoyable approach to settling your phone bill offers a refreshing alternative. The only downside is that Ad It Up currently does not support larger carriers like Verizon and AT&T, limiting its applicability for more users.

  • T-Mobile Offers Free Satellite-to-Phone Service Until July

T-Mobile Offers Free Satellite-to-Phone Service Until July

Two years ago, T-Mobile formed a partnership with SpaceX to provide network connectivity through the Starlink satellite constellation. By late 2024, the carrier began accepting registrations for beta testing of its direct-to-cell satellite service. Today, during the Super Bowl, T-Mobile announced that beta testing is now available to everyone.

The most exciting aspect is that T-Mobile will offer complimentary access to all beta registrations until July. After this period, the service will be included at no additional charge for customers subscribed to the Go5G Next plan, which caters to both individual and business users.

Any T-Mobile customer will also have the option to add the satellite service for $15 a month on top of their existing plan. Those who sign up for beta testing in February will enjoy a reduced rate of $10 per month for T-Mobile Starlink.

    T-Mobile

Additionally, the carrier is seizing the chance to attract new clients. Registrations for the new service, named T-Mobile Starlink, will be available to subscribers of competing networks like Verizon and AT&T at no charge. After July, they will still have access to the service for $20 per month per connection line.

What to Expect from T-Mobile Starlink?

Initially, the direct-to-cell satellite network will only facilitate text messaging (both direct and group messages) for users located in areas without cell tower coverage. T-Mobile claims that the satellite network’s reach will cover over half a million square miles.

In the future, as T-Mobile enhances its infrastructure and launches more satellites, the Starlink service will evolve to support multimedia messaging as well. While specific hardware requirements are yet to be revealed, T-Mobile states that Starlink should function on most smartphones released in the last four years.

As bandwidth increases, the carrier plans to introduce calling and data services. Looking at competitors, Vodafone recently celebrated achieving the first “space video call” using signals transmitted from a satellite.

T-Mobile’s initiative represents a groundbreaking effort by a U.S.-based carrier, even though some emergency satellite communication options have been available for a couple of years, notably from companies like Apple. The Un-carrier is addressing this need too.

    T-Mobile

In dead zones, users will receive Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEAs) and crucial notifications, including those related to weather emergencies, via the satellite network. T-Mobile assures that this service will be available nationwide.

“T-Mobile Starlink is the first and only space-based mobile network in the U.S. It represents a monumental technical achievement and is a game changer for all cellular users,” said T-Mobile CEO Mike Sievert. Meanwhile, AT&T has partnered with AST SpaceMobile to roll out satellite-to-phone services soon, and Verizon is working with Skylo to offer similar capabilities.

T-Mobile’s satellite connectivity service is set to launch on a broader scale in July for subscribers. The beta registration phase will continue on an ongoing basis, according to the company.

  • T-Mobile’s Satellite Service Is Ready For Testing

T-Mobile’s Satellite Service Is Ready For Testing

T-Mobile made a commitment back in 2022 to eliminate mobile dead zones across the nation. This initiative was made possible through a partnership with SpaceX, which utilizes Starlink satellites to ensure connectivity throughout the U.S. Just this September, the carrier successfully transmitted an emergency alert via satellite, showcasing the viability of the service.

With that success, T-Mobile is now poised for more extensive trials.

Earlier today, the company announced the launch of beta registration for its Starlink direct-to-cell satellite service. This signup is available to all customers, including first responders and businesses, and it comes at no cost to postpaid subscribers.

Priority during this phase will be given to emergency personnel and related organizations. According to the press release, testing is set to begin “early next year.” Initially, the satellite-to-cell communication will be limited to text messaging, with data and voice calling options to follow in subsequent phases.

One of the key advantages of T-Mobile’s service, especially when compared to what companies like Apple have offered on their devices, is its user-friendly nature. Customers will not need to worry about finding a clear view of the sky or adjusting their phone to connect with the satellite network.

The carrier states, “Both inbound and outbound messages are sent and received just like any other message.” This integration means the direct-to-cell satellite service will work seamlessly with T-Mobile’s existing ground network.

The ultimate objective is to provide connectivity in areas such as during flights, in remote locations, and in terrains where T-Mobile’s terrestrial coverage is limited. The company has already conducted preliminary tests to assist individuals impacted by hurricanes Helene and Milton.

Once the satellite network is fully operational, T-Mobile anticipates that its new service will span an area of over half a million square miles. Notably, customers will not need special hardware or high-end phones to utilize these features.

    Satellite Communication

T-Mobile has also confirmed that most smartphones will be compatible with the service when it becomes widely available. This means that users won’t have to spend extra on specialized devices or invest in separate gadgets like the Motorola Defy Satellite Link.

“During the beta, to ensure a great customer experience, we are optimizing the service for select smartphones and will expand availability as more satellites are launched,” the FAQ page from the company states here.

Apple has been a pioneer in adopting satellite technology, recently expanding its functionality beyond emergency services to offer greater options for users lacking terrestrial network access. Furthermore, there are expectations that the upcoming Apple Watch Ultra will integrate satellite communication capabilities.

In addition, Google recently rolled out satellite messaging with Android 15, setting the stage for a broader rollout with its Pixel 9 series. As for T-Mobile, a broader launch of its direct-to-cell satellite service is anticipated sometime in 2025.

  • T-Mobile Revamps Its 5G Home Internet Plans

T-Mobile Revamps Its 5G Home Internet Plans

As we gear up for the upcoming year, T-Mobile has unveiled notable changes to its 5G home and small business internet offerings. The revamped plans commence at just $35 per month for customers who enroll in AutoPay and possess a voice line, making them marginally more affordable than the existing options.

The first option is the T-Mobile Rely Internet plan, which delivers fundamental home Wi-Fi service at an appealing price point, accompanied by a Price Lock guarantee. Next, the T-Mobile Amplified Internet plan enhances the experience with faster internet speeds and bolstered cybersecurity for residential users, or it includes a mesh device tailored for small business clients.

Moving on to the T-Mobile All-In Internet plan, this package encompasses everything available in the Amplified plan, in addition to subscriptions to Hulu (with ads) and the Paramount+ Essential Monthly Plan for residential customers. Small business subscribers will benefit from two mesh devices, Microsoft 365, and a variety of other perks.

Here’s a summary of the pricing structure:

    • T-Mobile Rely Internet: $50 per month with AutoPay, or $35 per month if paired with any T-Mobile voice line.
    • T-Mobile Amplified Internet: $45 per month with AutoPay and a voice line, or $60 per month without.
    • T-Mobile All-In Internet: $55 per month with AutoPay and a voice line, or $70 per month without.

These new packages appear to be more customer-centric, offering added benefits and competitive pricing compared to the existing plans, which will still be available until the new ones launch next week.

Currently, the Home Internet Unlimited package provides an all-you-can-use, high-speed home internet service for $50 each month with AutoPay. For those needing greater capacity, the Home Internet Plus plan is available at an additional $20 per month, delivering faster speeds suited for larger families and multiple devices.

In his announcement of these new plans, Allan Samson, T-Mobile’s chief broadband officer, stated, “While some internet providers increase rates by as much as $50 a month once the promotional period ends, we’re rolling out new plans that provide customers with more options and greater value, ensuring that as long as they stay on their eligible 5G Internet package, they won’t experience unexpected price hikes.”

The Rely, Amplified, and All-In Internet plans will be available starting Wednesday, December 11. Customers can enroll online or at physical locations, with small business users having the option to sign up at T-Mobile stores.

This year, T-Mobile has frequently made headlines, many of which were less than favorable. In October, the company reached a settlement with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) over past data breaches that impacted 130 million customers between 2021 and January 2024. Furthermore, in August, the company attracted criticism for imposing additional monthly charges of up to $5 per line on customers with legacy data plans.

As T-Mobile continues its journey, it remains the third-largest carrier in the U.S., trailing behind Verizon and AT&T.
