    Never Stray Too Far From The Van

    In most open-world games with vehicles, the vehicle is just a way to get around. You can often leave it behind and walk on foot whenever you want. But in Outbound, things are different. Your van isn’t just a way to travel—it’s your entire storage space. It holds most of your items and all the machines you craft. Plus, moving on foot isn’t very fast, which makes walking around a hassle.

    Because of this, it’s best to stay close to your van at all times to avoid having to run back frequently to store or retrieve items.

    Upgrade Your Backpack As Quickly As Possible

    Your backpack acts as your inventory. When you find items, they go into your backpack first. You can store stuff in your van, but your backpack is the first place items go when you pick them up. Early in the game, your backpack has limited space, so it fills up fast.

    It’s smart to build a sewing machine early on to upgrade your backpack. Doing so will let you carry more, reducing the number of trips you need to make back to your van to unload resources like wood, fiber, and rocks.

    Charge Your Van While Sleeping

    You’ll frequently need to recharge your van’s battery. You can’t recharge it while driving, though, even if you load the back with wood to generate power—it stops once you start moving. Standing still and charging can be inconvenient, especially if you need a quick boost.

    To avoid this, put some wood in the back and start charging overnight before you go to sleep. Then, sleep until morning. Your vehicle will have fully charged by the time you wake up.

    Lock Download Vouchers And Food In Your Inventory

    When you hover over items in your backpack, you’ll see an option to “lock” them. This keeps those items in your inventory even when you deposit other things into the van. Most basic resources like wood, fiber, and rocks don’t need to be locked because they’re not always needed in your inventory.

    However, locking Download Vouchers and food can be useful. Vouchers allow you to download blueprints from Signal Towers, and food keeps hunger at bay. Since you need these items in your inventory to use them, locking them ensures they stay with you at all times.

    You Can Make Things While Driving

    Many craft machines, such as the recycler, sawmill, or sewing machine, can be placed on or inside your van. Items on top are stored when you close up the vehicle and drive away, while machines inside are still operational during transit.

    For example, you can fill your recycler with trash, start it, and then begin driving — it will continue converting waste into vouchers even as you move. This saves you from waiting around while machines finish their work.

    Don’t Rely Only on Wood to Charge Your Van

    You need to charge your van often, but you can’t do it by driving when it’s already low. You can put wood in the back to generate power, but this process stops once you start moving.

    A better method is to use firewood as fuel overnight. Before sleeping, load some wood into the van and begin charging. Then, sleep through the night. When you wake up, your vehicle will be fully charged.

    As you progress, you can install solar panels on your van to produce power more sustainably. Additionally, there are charging stations on the map you can use. Once you discover these options, try to rely less on burning wood and save it for crafting.

    You Need To Pick Up Experience Points

    As you level up, you’ll unlock upgrades called Divine Tech, which boost your abilities or stats. To level up, you need experience points, which come from small gems dropped by enemies. Killing enemies alone won’t give you experience; you must pick up these gems.

    It may seem easy at first, but soon you’ll face many enemies on the screen, and retreating isn’t always possible. To avoid being overwhelmed, constantly change direction and run in circles.     Generally, it’s best to send ruptured enemies out of the level, as this automatically kills them. Traps or other enemies might only do minor damage if you choose to trap or distract enemies instead. To aim for knocking enemies away, look for a circle instead of a cross when using your backpack attack.

    How To Arrange Your Backpack

    Organizing relics in your backpack is a common, ongoing task. Many relics have curses that activate when placed in specific slots or near certain other relics. Planning your layout can maximize earnings when you return.

    A good tip is to keep basic relics that modify others—like Shock, Burn, or Petrify—in locations where their curses aren’t triggered. Save their effects for when you find rarer relics that can benefit from them. This way, you enhance the value of high-quality relics instead of normal ones.

    Remember, curses are canceled when you return to the hub, so don’t carry relics back to town simply to preserve curses for your next run.

    Expand Your Shop As Soon As Possible

    You’ll spend many hours unlocking upgrades, but focusing on the shop expansion early on is highly recommended. At some point, Ms. Scratch will offer to enlarge your shop for about 25,000 gold. While this is a large expense early in the game, it’s worth saving toward. Expanding your shop will give you more display cases for relics and a larger storage chest for your robot helper—both invaluable for progress.

    There’s also a second upgrade available for 50,000 gold if you keep saving.

    Never Forget Your Current Challenge

    Suppose you need 5,000 gold to meet a Vault challenge. You might think to sell everything you find to reach that goal quickly. However, once the Vault reaches the goal, it stops counting your gold, and the challenge advances. Instead, aim to sell just enough relics to reach the target—then leave the rest for your next run. This approach helps you make steady progress without overshooting the goal.

    Keep in mind, you can still earn gold for personal use during the run; this tip only applies to Vault challenges.

    You Can Escape At Any Time

    If your health is low during a fight, watch for the pendant icon in the bottom right. This indicates you should consider retreating. Exiting the dungeon early isn’t a penalty—when you return to the hub, you keep all relics and materials you gathered, unaltered.

    This option works even during boss fights. If you’re about to die and run out of potions, hold the pendant button for a few seconds to safely retreat. It’s better to leave and preserve what you’ve earned than to risk losing everything.

    Always Pick A Combat Perk That Changes Your Attack

    There are over 30 combat perks, each modifying aspects like attack strength, special moves, or gun damage.     • Large Sword: Slow but deals massive damage and has good reach—best for players who prefer patience.
    • Spear: The most defensive weapon, with the longest range, though it’s generally slow and its special attack isn’t very strong until later upgrades.
    • Gauntlets: Fastest weapon, great for quick damage, but leaves you vulnerable since you need to be close to enemies.

    You can unlock all 20 weapons in the game. Success is possible with any weapon, so choose based on your preferred playstyle and what kind of fighter you want to be.

    Blo-Beam Is The Best Gun
