    Spotting is a key part of gameplay in Battlefield. It allows players to alert their team about enemy positions by pinging targets. When you do this, enemies are marked on the mini-map and shown with icons on your HUD, which helps your squad plan attacks and stay alive, especially in tight, low-visibility areas.

    In Battlefield 2042, spotting works similarly to Battlefield V. When aiming near an enemy and pressing the ping button, you’ll tag them with a red triangle above their head—this is known as “3D spotting.” As long as you keep in sight of the enemy, this mark remains visible, and their position is also shown on your team’s mini-map.

Using suppressor attachments makes it easier to stay hidden because it shortens the range at which enemies can see your firing pings, often down to about 20 meters.

    • Paik (Recon Specialist): uses the EMG-X Scanner for 3D spots and mini-map indicators, spotting enemies within 25 meters.
    • Rao (Recon Specialist): the Cyberwarfare Suite can 3D spot enemies after killing a hacked target, while the Acquisition device spots enemies everywhere on the map without any range limit.

    In terms of tips, using Casper’s drone is a quick way to identify targets safely, especially in dangerous areas. Pairing T-UGS with other gadgets like Blasco’s can help you control choke points and rack up points. The SOFLAM is especially useful on larger maps with many vehicles; it marks enemy vehicles for destruction by your engineers.

    Identifying Spice Fields

    Finding a Spice Field is straightforward, but reaching it can be tricky.

    While exploring Arrakis, keep an eye out for large columns of purple smoke rising from the ground. These indicate areas where you’ll easily collect Spice. However, they don’t last forever, so make sure to act quickly when they appear.

    The main challenge is that these columns are often in open desert areas, which makes you vulnerable to sandworm attacks if you’re not careful.

    To reduce the likelihood of attracting a sandworm, remove any gear that causes vibrations. This will give you a better chance to safely gather Spice.

    So, whenever you’re out in the open desert, it’s essential to use a vehicle for protection.

    How to Collect Spice

    As noted earlier, there’s a prerequisite to begin collecting Spice. Thankfully, this requirement is closely tied to the main storyline of Dune: Awakening.

    To gather Spice, you’ll need a Static Compactor. You can obtain the schematic for this tool by completing the second Trial of Aql.

    Once you’ve completed the second trial and created your Static Compactor, head to any of the purple smoke columns. When you arrive, you’ll see purple markings on the ground, signifying that Spice is present.

    To collect it, activate the Static Compactor and follow the on-screen instructions on the purple sand.

    You can also gather Spice by hand, but this method is not recommended as it takes much longer and increases the chance of a sandworm attack.

    Exercise caution when using the Static Compactor, as it can attract sandworms easily. Be particularly careful in areas like Drum Sand, which heightens vibration detection. Instead, opt for more open desert zones with lower sandworm activity.
