    • Rubio states the deal guarantees stable, low-priced oil for America.
    • Agreement to attract $100 billion in investments to Venezuela: Rubio.
    • Experts raise questions about the legal standing and feasibility of the deal.

On Friday, President Donald Trump announced an unprecedented effort by the U.S. to gain control over one-fifth of Venezuela’s extensive oil reserves, betting that American companies can rejuvenate the Venezuelan energy sector damaged over years of neglect, sanctions, and mismanagement. The move aims to provide a new source of crude oil to help lower fuel prices in the U.S.

Trump offered few specifics about the deal, only mentioning that the U.S. had secured majority control of more than 65 billion barrels of Venezuela’s proven oil reserves through a partnership with private sector businesses.

Venezuela’s government welcomed the agreement, stating it would boost the country’s economy and increase government revenue.

This deal would mark a significant expansion of U.S. involvement in Venezuela’s oil industry as the Trump administration works to revive production and secure more crude for American refineries.

While Venezuela has the world’s largest proven oil reserves, its production remains around 1.25 million barrels per day—far below its potential—due to years of underinvestment, poor management, and sanctions.

Rubio calls the deal a mutual benefit

“Under my directive, Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, working closely with Venezuela’s interim leader Delcy Rodriguez, have secured majority U.S. control over more than 65 billion barrels of proven oil reserves in Venezuela—at no expense to American taxpayers,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

The announcement follows weeks of negotiations between the U.S. and Venezuela over a deal granting American companies long-term access to certain oil fields, ensuring a steady crude supply to the U.S.

Venezuelan officials are preparing to sign agreements next week that will give rights to explore and produce oil, especially to U.S. companies.

Sources told Reuters that a leasing model is under consideration, which could involve auctioning off fields to U.S. firms. However, such arrangements might face legal and constitutional challenges in Venezuela, where the state maintains control over core oil operations.

Trump did not specify the structural details of the agreement, including which fields or companies are involved or how the U.S. will exercise control over the reserves. A list viewed by Reuters indicates the targeted fields are located in the Orinoco Belt and Lake Maracaibo regions.

Rubio described the deal as a win-win, asserting on X that it would provide the U.S. with stable, affordable oil and help lower gasoline prices.

For Venezuela, Rubio said this would attract nearly $100 billion in private investment, create thousands of high-paying jobs, and aid in reviving the country’s economy.

Rodriguez, who has led interim authorities since the U.S. detained President Nicolas Maduro in January, stated late Friday that the deal would enable substantial growth through the development of 17 strategic oil fields, generating approximately $209 billion in tax revenue for Venezuela.

“These investments will facilitate the recovery and modernization of our industry, support our economic growth, enhance energy security across our hemisphere, and promote greater market stability worldwide,” she said in a statement.

Legal and financial details remain unclear

Analysts emphasize the need for more information regarding the legal framework and financial structure of the deal before assessing its potential for attracting significant investment.

It is also uncertain whether the deal will have an immediate impact on fuel prices, as developing infrastructure to produce, transport, and refine Venezuela’s heavy crude could take years.

David Goldwyn, president of Goldwyn Global Strategies, questioned whether a lease agreement from the U.S. government would be legally sound under Venezuela’s constitution and hydrocarbon laws. He noted that there’s no precedent for the U.S. government entering into such lease agreements to operate foreign oil fields.

Goldwyn further pointed out that the deal might not address long-standing obstacles like political instability, inadequate power infrastructure, export limitations, and government control that have deterred investment in Venezuela for years.

Since ousting Maduro, the U.S. has aimed to secure a steady flow of Venezuelan crude for American refineries while encouraging investment in Venezuela’s oil sector.

With upcoming midterm elections, the Biden administration faces pressure to mitigate rising gasoline prices. Increasing oil supplies and output could help ease concerns among consumers.

The U.S. is also exploring options to replenish its Strategic Petroleum Reserve, potentially through crude exchanges with domestic producers.

Venezuela nationalized its oil industry back in the 1970s, establishing state-owned PDVSA as the main operator. Under Hugo Chavez, the government intensified control, establishing joint ventures with foreign firms and expropriating assets, including projects formerly operated by ExxonMobil and ConocoPhillips.

Under Maduro’s leadership, Venezuelan oil production has drastically declined.

  • Astronomers Observe Dying Star Releasing Material into Space

Astronomers Observe Dying Star Releasing Material into Space

Astronomers have captured a stunning image of a dying star’s remnants being torn apart and redistributed into the space between stars. This observation provides a rare glimpse into a key cosmic recycling process: the return of material from ancient stars, which can eventually contribute to the formation of new stars, planets, and other celestial objects.

The finding was made during observations of the Helix Nebula, a well-known planetary nebula approximately 650 light-years from Earth. The study, led by Yale University astronomer Pieter van Dokkum, was published in Nature.

The Helix Nebula originated when a star similar in size to the Sun reached the final stages of its life cycle. It expelled much of its outer layers into space, leaving behind a dense stellar core known as a white dwarf. This expelled gas created the nebula’s characteristic bright ring.

However, the new observations uncovered structures far from the nebula’s core, especially on its eastern side. The team was actually calibrating a new telescope called MOTHRA, short for the Modular Optical Telephoto Hyperspectral Robotic Array, located at the El Sauce Observatory in Chile. Designed to detect extremely faint gases in space, MOTHRA unexpectedly revealed a network of previously unnoticed structures in the nebula’s outer regions.

They identified 22 complete or partial “bow shocks” — curved formations resembling waves in front of a boat. These appear where clumps of material, expelled from the dying star, move swiftly through the sparse gas between stars. As these fragments collide with surrounding material, they produce glowing, curved features visible to astronomers.

The shape and size of these bow shocks offer vital clues about what happens to stellar debris after its release. Closer to the star, the structures are larger, sharply defined, and thin. At greater distances, they become smaller, more diffuse, and increasingly fragmented. This pattern suggests that the fragments gradually break apart as they traverse space.

Researchers estimate that individual clumps can survive for roughly 10,000 years after exposure to surrounding gas before being shredded and their material blending into the interstellar medium. This process plays a crucial role in the universe’s matter cycle, with materials from dying stars eventually becoming part of new stellar and planetary systems. In billions of years, our Sun will undergo a similar cycle, returning much of its material to the galaxy.

The discovery also highlights MOTHRA’s potential. Once fully operational, the telescope will employ 1,140 telephoto lenses, advanced filters, and powerful computing to hunt for some of the faintest structures in the universe. For astronomers, the Helix Nebula has become more than just a beautiful image — it’s a glimpse into the dynamic, ongoing process of cosmic recycling.

  • Astronomers Unveil the Largest 2D Universe Map Ever Created

Astronomers Unveil the Largest 2D Universe Map Ever Created

A groundbreaking two-dimensional color map of the universe has been unveiled, featuring an astonishing 5.6 trillion pixels and nearly 4 billion stars, galaxies, and other celestial bodies. This vast map was developed by the DESI Legacy Imaging Surveys team and spans approximately 75% of the sky in visible and near-infrared light. The entire dataset is accessible to the public, inviting astronomers, students, and curious skywatchers to explore the cosmos via the Legacy Survey Sky Viewer.

The detailed visualization offers an especially close view of regions beyond our Milky Way galaxy. Researchers can utilize it to hunt for unusual phenomena, such as gravitational lenses—which occur when gravity bends and amplifies light from distant galaxies—and supernovae, the dazzling explosions marking the death throes of stars.

This map may also prove pivotal in tackling two of astrophysics’ most profound mysteries: dark matter, an invisible substance thought to comprise most of the universe’s mass, and dark energy, the enigmatic force believed to accelerate the universe’s expansion.

Creating this colossal map involved compiling 263,407 individual telescope exposures collected across 2,285 nights. Over 160 scientists participated in gathering the data, with a dedicated team of 20 researchers assembling the final product. The images originated from three major ground-based surveys utilizing telescopes in Chile and Arizona. Additional data came from years of infrared observations from NASA’s Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer (WISE), plus other publicly available astronomical datasets.

Combining such diverse images posed a significant computational challenge due to variations in weather, atmospheric conditions, and telescope settings. Developing the specialized software took about a year, and processing the data required roughly eight weeks on the Perlmutter supercomputer at the National Energy Research Scientific Computing Center.

Initially designed to support the Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument (DESI), the new 2D map resembles a giant photograph that indicates where stars and galaxies are situated and how luminous they are. DESI then studies selected galaxies in detail—analyzing their light to measure their distances. By combining positional data with these distances, scientists can construct a three-dimensional map of the universe, allowing them to analyze galaxy clustering over billions of years and explore how the universe has expanded over cosmic history. This also provides insights into whether dark energy’s influence might be weakening over time—a possibility that could dramatically alter our understanding of the universe’s future.

DESI wrapped up its initial five-year observing campaign ahead of schedule in April 2026. Early findings suggest dark energy’s strength may diminish over time, an indication with profound implications for cosmology. More comprehensive results are anticipated in 2027, with observations continuing until 2028.

Beyond DESI, this extensive map will serve as a critical reference for future observations from the Vera C. Rubin Observatory and NASA’s Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope. It will also be instrumental in training artificial intelligence algorithms to sift through the massive influx of data generated by modern telescopes.

Previous editions of the Legacy Surveys have already contributed to over 1,800 scientific papers. Now, with nearly 4 billion objects charted, this latest release offers an unprecedented glimpse into the universe, accessible to anyone with an internet connection.

  • Scientists Warn Some Earth Pathogens Could Survive Trip to Mars

Scientists Warn Some Earth Pathogens Could Survive Trip to Mars

Microbes from Earth might survive on other planets, according to recent research. Ph.D. candidate Tommaso Zaccaria examined whether tiny organisms from our planet could endure conditions similar to those on the Moon, Mars, and the icy moons of Jupiter and Saturn. These locations are of particular interest because scientists believe they either contain or once contained water, which is essential for life.

Historically, space agencies focused mainly on the risk of astronauts bringing back harmful extraterrestrial organisms. Now, scientists are also concerned about the possibility of accidentally transporting Earth life to other planets, potentially contaminating these environments. This concern isn’t new—early moon missions left waste behind, and spacecraft to Mars in previous decades weren’t sterilized as thoroughly as they are today.

To explore this, Zaccaria simulated the extreme conditions of these distant worlds at the German Aerospace Center. He exposed various microorganisms to high radiation levels, freezing temperatures, and severe dehydration. Many microbes tested originated from some of Earth’s toughest habitats, including Antarctica and volcanic regions. Surprisingly, several survived these harsh conditions, with yeasts performing particularly well.

The study revealed that yeasts have remarkable defense mechanisms, such as boosting their DNA repair abilities and activating chemical processes that shield their cells from severe stress. Zaccaria also looked at well-known human pathogens, such as Klebsiella pneumoniae, a bacterium capable of causing pneumonia. These bacteria shrank after exposure to Mars-like conditions but did not die out.

Even more startling was how the human immune system responded to these shrunken pathogens. Laboratory experiments showed that immune cells from human blood reacted less aggressively to the smaller, stressed bacteria. This could have serious implications for astronauts, whose immune systems already weaken during long space missions due to changes in sleep, diet, gut health, social interactions, exposure to radiation, and living in confined spaces. Such stressors could make infections more dangerous.

The research also examined potential risks from lunar and Martian dust. Using materials that mimic the surfaces of these celestial bodies, scientists tested their effects on lung tissue compared to ordinary Earth sand. The results were concerning—simulated Martian dust damaged lung protective linings and increased infection risk, while lunar dust caused even more damage. Earth sand had little to no harmful effects.

These findings are relevant not only for future space explorations but also for Earth’s health. Astronauts often exhibit signs of immune weakening and accelerated biological aging, and studying how space conditions affect the body could offer insights into aging, immune function, and individual susceptibility to diseases.

In the quest to find extraterrestrial life, scientists may have uncovered an unexpected truth: some Earth-based microbes are far more resilient than previously thought.

  • Essential Beginner Tips & Tricks for Completing and Solving Space Haven

Essential Beginner Tips & Tricks for Completing and Solving Space Haven

Space Haven is a sci-fi colony simulation game where you manage a spaceship instead of a planet. You control a crew of space explorers searching for a new home, customizing and expanding your ship while navigating through dangerous space. The game blends base-building, survival, strategy, and role-playing elements. Its pixel-art style gives it a nostalgic feel reminiscent of classic sci-fi movies and games, but the gameplay offers deep immersion and endless replayability as you chart your own course through space.

    Crew Comfort

You’ll have many areas on your ship to manage, and keeping your crew happy is essential. Their mood can be affected by factors like health, hunger, and noise levels. When crew members are unhappy, their performance drops, and if their happiness falls too low, they might refuse to work altogether. It’s crucial to monitor three main aspects of comfort: sleep, leisure, and work. Don’t overlook these sections—they’re key to maintaining a productive crew. Use the tabs at the bottom of the comfort menu to see what areas need attention. For beds and hospital zones, position them away from noisy places like shuttle bays, since noise can slow healing and reduce sleep quality. Balancing work, relaxation, and rest is vital; focus on where your crew sleeps and relaxes to keep morale high. Aim for at least a neutral (blue) level in all three comfort areas for your crew’s well-being.

    Crew CO2 and Farming

Creating a stable space colony involves balancing farming and carbon dioxide levels. Grow beds allow you to cultivate crops like vegetables and fruits, which provide a renewable food source. Plants help clean your ship’s air by consuming CO2, aiding in maintaining breathable oxygen levels—crucial for survival. Use wall lights and grow lights to improve comfort, combining functionality with crew morale boosts. Position beds around your farming zones to utilize crew’s natural CO2 output, streamlining farming operations. Be cautious: too much CO2 in medical bays can be deadly for patients.

    Workstation Management

Ship layout matters more than appearance. Focus on functionality and productivity, not just aesthetics. Some systems, like solar panels, require minimal maintenance and can be placed far from active zones. Strategic placement saves time and resources; for example, locate critical systems that need little interaction in remote areas. Not all parts of the ship need equal attention—prioritize busy or essential sections to optimize your ship’s efficiency.

    Botany and Cooking

Farming plays a central role in your survival. Crops need to be maintained to keep the crew fed and happy. It’s important to keep your farm separate from areas prone to hazards like fires, which can spread quickly and destroy crops and other facilities. Upgrading botany sections early, especially research into Grow Beds, is a smart move to improve crop yields and safety. Proper planning for crop placement can prevent disasters and keep your colony sustainable.

    Game Customization

Space Haven offers extensive customization options. Unlike most games that only provide difficulty levels, this game allows you to fine-tune many gameplay aspects during setup. It’s best to start on easy difficulty as you learn the mechanics and gradually increase the challenge. Carefully review each customization option to shape your experience and focus on progression rather than rushing into higher difficulty modes. A thoughtful start helps ensure you survive the early stages.

    Escape Routes

Besides environmental hazards, hostile factions pose threats. Pirates may attack, board your ship, and raid your resources. When designing your ship layout, consider the placement of airlocks, where pirates are most likely to board. Protect these critical points with defenses to fend off or delay attacks. Planning ahead for combat and security is vital for keeping your ship safe during encounters with enemies.

    Shields Up

Researching shields is crucial in later stages. Shields significantly increase your ship’s chances of surviving attacks or asteroid impacts. Prioritize shield technology early and keep them operational at all times. Strengthening your ship’s defenses, including crew training in combat, gives you vital time to respond if shields fail. Proper defense systems are key to enduring hostile actions and environmental threats.

    Research Order

You’re free to choose your own path in Space Haven; there’s no fixed route. However, a good strategy is to prioritize research on oxygen and water systems first. Once those basics are stable, focus on generators, power storage, botany, and storage, then move on to weapons and defenses. Starting with foundational systems ensures your colony remains stable as you expand and take on more complex challenges. Balancing research tracks based on immediate needs and future plans is essential for long-term success.

  • Webb Telescope Detects Methane in Rare Saturn-Size Exoplanet’s Atmosphere

Webb Telescope Detects Methane in Rare Saturn-Size Exoplanet’s Atmosphere

Astronomers leveraging NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope have uncovered a massive planet with an atmosphere abundant in methane, providing scientists a rare glimpse into a type of world that’s scarcely represented in our current catalog of known planets.

This planet, designated TOI-199b, is roughly the size of Saturn but maintains surprisingly mild temperatures similar to Earth’s, contrasting with most giant planets we’ve studied so far.

The discovery was published in The Astronomical Journal by researchers from Pennsylvania State University and NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory.

Most known giant planets fall into two extreme categories. In our solar system, planets like Jupiter and Saturn are extremely cold because they orbit far from the sun. Conversely, astronomers have identified many “hot Jupiters,” planets that orbit very close to their host stars and can reach searing temperatures of thousands of degrees.

TOI-199b falls somewhere in between. It orbits its star once every 100 days and has a temperature around 175°F. While still warm for people, this is considerably cooler than most other exoplanets of similar size that scientists have observed.

Located over 330 light-years from Earth, TOI-199b is one of only a handful of known temperate gas giants. Even more notably, it’s the first of its kind to undergo detailed atmospheric analysis.

To study its atmosphere, scientists used a technique called transmission spectroscopy. When the planet transits in front of its star, some of the star’s light passes through the planet’s atmosphere before reaching the Webb telescope. Different gases absorb specific wavelengths of light, creating unique spectral signatures that reveal their chemical composition.

The team observed the system for approximately 20 hours, including a seven-hour transit period. By comparing the star’s baseline light with the filtered light passing through the atmosphere, they detected clear signs of methane.

The presence of methane in such a temperate giant planet aligns with existing predictions, reinforcing the idea that methane-rich atmospheres are common in these worlds. The observations also suggest that ammonia and carbon dioxide might be present, though further research is necessary to measure their quantities.

Studying planets like TOI-199b helps scientists better understand planetary formation and how atmospheres change over time. Although this planet isn’t suitable for life as we know it, analyzing its atmospheric properties could offer insights into broader planetary system processes, including those that shaped Earth.

This research also showcases the remarkable capabilities of the James Webb Space Telescope. Moving forward, astronomers aim to examine more temperate giant planets to see if TOI-199b is an exception or part of a larger population of worlds that we are just beginning to discover.

  • How a giant asteroid’s marks unveil planet birth secrets

How a giant asteroid’s marks unveil planet birth secrets

Asteroid 16 Psyche has intrigued scientists for over two centuries. Recent studies suggest that its large impact craters might provide clues about its origins and offer insights into how planets formed during the early days of our solar system.

Located in the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter, Psyche is approximately 140 miles (226 kilometers) across and stands out as the largest known metal-rich asteroid. Scientists theorize it could be the exposed core of an ancient planet that was shattered long ago, although other possibilities exist as well.

Some believe Psyche might be a conglomerate of rock and metal formed through numerous collisions, or that it perhaps started out with a high metal content from the beginning. To investigate these ideas, researchers at the University of Arizona used computer simulations to explore how a massive crater near Psyche’s north pole could have come into being.

Their aim was to anticipate what NASA’s Psyche spacecraft, set to arrive in 2029, might discover. Craters serve as natural windows into an asteroid’s interior. When an impact occurs, it can carve deep below the surface, exposing material normally hidden from view. By examining the size, shape, and internal structure of these craters, scientists can better understand what lies beneath.

In their models, the team recreated a crater roughly 30 miles wide and three miles deep, testing various scenarios. One scenario assumed Psyche has a layered structure with a metallic core enveloped by a thin rocky crust, while another proposed a completely mixed composition of metal and rock.

Interestingly, both models could produce a crater similar to what has been observed on Psyche. A key factor, however, is porosity—the amount of empty space inside the asteroid. Many asteroids aren’t solid but contain cracks and gaps from previous impacts. This porosity influences how the asteroid responds during a collision; porous bodies tend to absorb more impact energy, resulting in deeper, steeper craters with less debris ejected outward.

Incorporating porosity into their simulations resulted in more accurate predictions of Psyche’s surface features. These insights will help interpret data from the spacecraft, including crater characteristics, surface composition, and internal density variations.

This research underscores how Psyche acts like a “fossil” from the early solar system. Similar to how archaeologists study ancient ruins, scientists examine Psyche to understand planetary formation billions of years ago.

Once the spacecraft arrives, it will analyze Psyche’s surface, gravity, magnetic field, and composition. Comparing these findings with simulation results could confirm whether Psyche is truly an exposed planetary core or something entirely different.

Regardless of the outcome, Psyche provides a rare glimpse into the core-building blocks of planets and offers valuable clues about the dynamic forces that shaped our solar system.

  • How to Complete and Solve During a Meteor Shower in Heartopia

How to Complete and Solve During a Meteor Shower in Heartopia

In Heartopia, there are many fun activities to connect with your neighbors and create new memories. From chasing your dreams to trying out new hobbies, there’s always something entertaining to do.

One exciting activity is collecting rare materials that fall from stars. However, finding them isn’t common. Here’s a guide on how to locate and gather Starfall Shards so you can build a steady supply for your crafting needs. Let’s get started with everything you need to know about collecting shards!

    How to Get Starfall Shards

Before you begin, it’s important to know where these special gems appear. Starfall Shards are fragments of meteorites that only show up on Onsen Mountain during a Meteorite Shower. Make sure to check the weather at night to catch these showers.

All Meteor Shower Starfall Shard Locations

Starfall Shards will appear all across Onsen Mountain, so you can gather them as soon as the event starts. It’s a good idea to start at one side of the mountain and collect from each node in order to avoid missing any. Alternatively, you can begin at the bus stop and walk in a circle, whichever is easier for you.

Look carefully at different heights, as shards can spawn on cliffs or along the shoreline. A map of Onsen Mountain shows initial shard locations marked with gold stars. Here are some key spots to check, but remember, their exact locations can change with each meteor shower:

    • The northwest beach: Search the shoreline in this area.
    • The ruins: Behind the rocks near the capybara trough.
    • South of Onsen Mountain Lake: Head down the cliffs near Crater Lake.
    • Southwest corner: On the winding path west of lot five, away from the mountain resort.
    • South of the Old Sea: Walk along the shore near the Old Sea Islet.
    • On the mountain cliffs: Up on the central cliffs overlooking the hot springs.
    • Near Mountain Lake: At the fork in the path in the southeast.
    • The eastern hills: Close to lot eight, on the cliffs.
    • On the stone path: Along the shoreline on the far eastern side of the mountain.

How to Tell When the Next Meteor Shower Will Be

To know when a meteorite shower is coming, check your smartwatch and tap the weather icon in the top right corner. This will show detailed weather info for the upcoming week.

Look for the moon icon surrounded by stars – that’s when the shower will happen! The shower usually occurs from 6:00 PM to midnight, so plan your activities accordingly.

How to Get More Starfall Shards

During the meteor shower, nine nodes will pop up around Onsen Mountain. Mining each will give you about three to four pieces of the matching color of Starfall Shard.

Keep in mind, once you harvest a shard from a node, it doesn’t respawn. Be sure to gather all shards before the event ends to maximize your collection.

There are five shard colors—white, red, yellow, green, blue, and purple—but not every shower will have all colors available.

If you’re missing a specific color, you can exchange white shards for others by talking to Doris, the mysterious merchant. She offers more than just shards during the meteor shower, with a variety of items to buy.

    Doris’s Meteorite Shop

During meteor showers, Doris stands by her umbrella at the Onsen Mountain bus stop. She sells a selection of special items you can pick up.

Here’s what she offers during these nights:

  • How to Increase Inventory Space in Hytale by Completing and Solving

How to Increase Inventory Space in Hytale by Completing and Solving

In Hytale, you’ll come across various resources like sticks, iron, and carrots, all of which occupy spots in your inventory. Besides these, your inventory also holds weapons, tools, torches, and other items, so it can fill up quickly.

You can create storage boxes to hold some items, but they aren’t very large, which means your inventory can still become overcrowded. Luckily, the game allows you to expand your carrying capacity by using backpacks. Here’s what you need to know about making and upgrading backpacks.

How to Craft and Upgrade Your Backpack

To craft a backpack, you first need a workbench. But this isn’t just any workbench — you’ll have to upgrade your workbench to Tier Two before you can start making backpacks.

You can upgrade your workbench from its menu using these resources:

    • 30 Copper Ingots: Mine copper ore from caves, then smelt it in a furnace to get the ingots.
    • 20 Iron Ingots: Find iron ore underground, smelt it in a furnace like copper.
    • 20 Linen Scraps: These can be gathered by defeating enemies like Trocks, Skeletons, and Goblins — basically any mob wearing clothes.

Once your workbench is at Tier Two, you can craft your backpack from the Tinkering tab, requiring the following:

    • 8 Iron Ingots: Mined and smelted from iron ore.
    • 16 Medium Leather: Obtain medium hides from animals like wolves and process them at the Tanning Rack to turn into leather.

You can further upgrade your backpack by upgrading the workbench to Tier Three, which unlocks Backpack Upgrade 1. This upgrade needs:

    • 40 cindercloth scraps
    • 24 heavy leather
    • 8 cobalt ingots

Later, you can unlock Backpack Upgrade 2 by collecting 100 memories at the Forgotten Temple — although this will take some time. Both upgrades increase the number of slots in your backpack, giving you more space to carry items.

    How to Equip Your Backpack

Many players might think just crafting the backpack automatically adds more inventory space, but there’s a couple of extra steps.

First, place the backpack in your hotbar to equip it. Right now, it will appear as a piece of paper in your hand. To fully equip it, simply right-click on it — similar to eating food. This action effectively equips the backpack, even if your inventory size doesn’t immediately change.

Next, open your inventory. Look at the left side next to your character’s icon; you’ll see a picture of a backpack. Click on it to open a new row of inventory slots where you can store additional items.

By following these steps, you’ll significantly increase how much you can carry and manage your resources more efficiently.

BENGALURU: An Indian rocket carrying 16 equipment payloads and experiments, including an Earth observation satellite, deviated from its course shortly after launch on Monday, marking a setback for the Indian Space Research Organisation’s workhorse launch vehicle.

This is the second failure for the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) in roughly eight months, raising questions about its reliability despite a success rate of over 90% across about 60 missions.

The PSLV-C62 took off from Satish Dhawan Space Centre at 10:18 a.m. (04:48 GMT), transporting the EOS-N1 imagery satellite along with 15 other payloads developed by startups and academic groups from India and abroad.

According to ISRO’s mission control, the rocket operated normally during most of its flight before an unexpected disturbance caused it to veer off course.

“An anomaly was observed during the final phase of the PS3 stage,” ISRO announced. “A detailed analysis is underway,” but did not specify the nature or location of the issue.

The PSLV has historically been a cornerstone of India’s space program, supporting missions like Chandrayaan-1 and the Aditya-L1 solar observatory. It also plays a vital role in India’s initiative to open space manufacturing to private industry.

  • Top 5 Trends to Watch in 2026

Top 5 Trends to Watch in 2026

Next year will bring trips around the Moon, major football tournaments, and a heated battle for control of the U.S. Congress. Here are five key events to keep an eye on in 2026.

    Climate: Will the world respond?
Global temperatures are already hitting record highs, and projections suggest things could get even warmer in 2026. Last year was the hottest on record, and the UN estimates there’s an 80% chance at least one year before 2030 will surpass that. Despite setbacks like the U.S. boycotting COP30 in Brazil, multilateral efforts on climate change show resilience. Climate advocates emphasize that 2026 must be the year international climate diplomacy transforms itself, as countries respond to Colombia’s invitation to a groundbreaking conference on phasing out fossil fuels in April. Experts are curious if worldwide youth-led protests will escalate to push more aggressive climate action.

    Major football World Cup
The largest FIFA World Cup ever will feature 48 teams competing across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, with the U.S. hosting 11 venues. The tournament runs from June 11 to July 19, and tensions between President Trump and co-host nations over tariffs and immigration could influence the competition’s political atmosphere. France, led by Kylian Mbappe, aims to avenge their 2022 loss to Argentina’s Lionel Messi, while Spain hopes for a strong showing. Cristiano Ronaldo, age 41 during the tournament, has indicated this will likely be his last World Cup, with hopes of securing Portugal’s first global title. New entrants like Cape Verde, Uzbekistan, and Curacao will debut, but ticket prices may be steep due to dynamic pricing strategies.

    Gaza, Israel, and Netanyahu’s prospects
A fragile ceasefire between Israel and Hamas began on October 10 after two years of conflict, but its sustainability remains uncertain. Trump’s peace plan for Gaza leaves many issues unresolved, such as troop withdrawals, rebuilding efforts, and governance. The UN Security Council’s endorsement could lead to deploying an international force, though both Israel and Hamas oppose the idea. Meanwhile, Netanyahu, now 76, plans to run again in elections scheduled for late 2026 amid a fragile coalition. Many Israelis want accountability for the October 2023 attack that ignited the war, and a significant portion oppose his request for a presidential pardon to escape corruption trials. To maintain support from far-right allies, Netanyahu may consider military options against Hamas or Hezbollah, risking escalation.

    Control of the U.S. Congress
Voters will head to the midterm elections in 2026 amid high stakes for Trump, Congress, and the nation. While Trump isn’t on the ballot, a strong Republican showing would reinforce his influence. However, if his favored candidates falter, it could expose cracks in his movement and complicate successions. The GOP’s hold on Congress is tight, with narrow margins in both chambers depending on key battleground states like Michigan, North Carolina, and Ohio. Democrats see opportunities, especially since the party of the incumbent often loses seats in midterms. Republicans face a challenging path to maintain the House, and Democrats aim to flip four Senate seats needed to gain control. Full Republican dominance could cement Trump’s legacy, but Democratic control would slow his agenda and potentially trigger ongoing investigations.

Humans returning to the Moon and space exploration
While a manned lunar landing may not happen in 2026, NASA plans to launch Artemis II—the first crewed mission to orbit the Moon—by April at the latest. This marks a major step toward restoring American footprints on the lunar surface, a vision initially launched during Trump’s first term. China aims to land on the Moon by 2030 and is progressing with its Chang’e 7 mission, targeting the lunar south pole, along with testing its crewed spacecraft, Mengzhou, next year. India, which sent a robotic mission to the Moon in 2023, is planning to send astronauts into orbit by 2027, signaling an expanding global interest in space exploration.

From skin cells to eggs: scientists execute a sci-fi style fertility breakthrough

    Source: Reuters

Move over, Hollywood sci-fi — real scientists have managed to transform human skin cells into eggs. Yes, just regular skin cells. Researchers at Oregon Health & Science University achieved this by transferring the DNA from a skin cell into a donor egg, effectively giving the cell a cellular “reset.” The outcome? Lab-created eggs that are potentially capable of fertilization.

Some of these experimental eggs advanced to the blastocyst stage, the early embryo phase in IVF treatments, although most encountered genetic errors and failed to develop properly. Nonetheless, the prospect that skin tissue could one day replace ovaries is astonishing. It opens up possibilities for addressing infertility, aiding cancer survivors, and even helping same-sex couples conceive genetically related children.

However, it’s not all science fiction dreams coming true just yet. The research remains distant from clinical application, with critics raising ethical concerns, questions about consent, and fears of a slippery slope toward designer babies. Whether seen as a groundbreaking breakthrough or a potential ethical minefield, one thing’s certain: the future of human reproduction just took a dramatic turn.

2025 debates? No, we’re now in the era of AI roast battles

    Source: TruthSocialSource: TruthSocial

In the latest chapter of “2025 Politics: You can’t make this stuff up,” former President Donald Trump released an AI-generated deepfake video featuring prominent Democrats.

The video shows Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer seemingly ranting about free healthcare for “illegal aliens,” while House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries sports a sombrero and mustache, with mariachi music playing in the background. The punchline: Schumer’s avatar calls Democrats “woke pieces of s—.”

The backlash was immediate. Jeffries condemned the video as “racist garbage” and challenged Trump to insult him directly, without hiding behind a computer-generated image.

Schumer also weighed in, suggesting that the former president is more interested in trolling than governing.

In response, Vice President J.D. Vance shrugged it off, calling it “funny” and claiming it was all in good humor. Meanwhile, the video sparked ongoing debates about how AI tools are used to intensify political divisions, manipulate culture, and spread misinformation.

This episode serves as a stark reminder: deepfakes are no longer just a plot device for sci-fi stories—they’re now tools for satire, mockery, and increasingly, a weapon in political conflicts.

Arc: Pioneering the future of orbital cargo delivery

    Created using GeminiCreated using Gemini

Inversion, a space startup, has introduced Arc — a spacecraft built to deliver small payloads of up to 500 pounds anywhere on Earth in less than an hour.

Unlike conventional rockets, Arc is a reusable vehicle designed to reenter the atmosphere at hypersonic speeds (Mach 20+), endure intense heat, and land with pinpoint accuracy. Its initial focus is on defense and hypersonic testing, where rapid, on-demand delivery of vital supplies can be crucial.

Arc builds upon the success of Inversion’s previous spacecraft, Ray, with plans for an inaugural flight in 2026. The long-term vision involves deploying fleets of Arc vehicles in low Earth orbit, ready to provide fast, global logistics whenever needed.

The project faces numerous challenges—from stress during re-entry to precise landing and navigating regulatory hurdles. Still, if successful, Arc could represent a significant leap toward space-based rapid delivery systems, transforming what was once pure science fiction into reality.

  • DNA Tech Solves the Unsolvable, Sora 2 Turns Fake, Alien Comet Detected

DNA Tech Solves the Unsolvable, Sora 2 Turns Fake, Alien Comet Detected

Sora 2 could be TikTok without people—powered solely by AI.

OpenAI is gearing up to introduce Sora 2, a short-form video platform that closely resembles TikTok, but with a twist: every video is AI-generated. There are no user uploads or mobile recordings, only 10-second clips created from prompts.

The layout feels familiar, with vertical scrolling, likes, comments, and remix options. However, Sora 2 introduces a new feature—identity verification. Users can consent to their likeness being used by AI, and they will be alerted if someone attempts to feature their image, even in draft videos.

The timing isn’t coincidental. TikTok is under scrutiny in the U.S., while Meta and Google are advancing their AI-driven video technologies. By designing “everything fake by default,” OpenAI bets that audiences will crave endless streams of AI-generated cats, dance routines, and memes. Currently, it’s an internal project, but if launched broadly, Sora 2 could signal the rise of an AI-based social media feed.

DNA technology solves Austin’s yogurt shop murders after 34 years

In December 1991, firefighters responded to a small frozen yogurt shop in Austin, Texas. The fire initially seemed routine until the smoke cleared, revealing a haunting scene: four teenage girls, bound, gagged, and shot before the fire was started to destroy evidence.

For years, the case remained unresolved, marked by false confessions, overturned convictions, and lingering questions. The victims’ families faced ongoing heartbreak as justice seemed increasingly distant.

But technology has a way of uncovering truths that time cannot erase. In 2025, investigators revisited the case with advanced DNA testing and ballistic analysis. This time, science came through. DNA found under one victim’s fingernails matched Robert Eugene Brashers, a violent drifter who had committed suicide during a police standoff in 1999. A shell casing from the shop linked back to his weapon, finally closing the case that had remained unresolved for over three decades.

Although there was no courtroom trial or chance for the families to confront their loved one’s killer, this breakthrough offered long-awaited closure—proof that even after many years, small traces can resurrect the truth.

The yogurt shop murders now stand as a tragic reminder—and a testament—that patience and scientific advancement can breathe life back into the coldest cases.

Are we witnessing alien technology or just ice? Scientists debate interstellar comet 3I/ATLAS

When astronomers first spotted 3I/ATLAS in July, it resembled a typical comet—icy, dusty, more than three miles wide. Yet, its trajectory raised eyebrows. The object’s motion couldn’t be explained solely by gravity, and subtle shifts indicated something unusual was happening.

This mystery prompted Harvard astrophysicist Avi Loeb to propose a provocative theory: 3I/ATLAS might be more than just a comet. Building on his earlier claim about ʻOumuamua’—the first confirmed interstellar visitor—he suggests it could be an alien artifact disguised as a natural object.

Skeptics note that 3I/ATLAS is releasing carbon dioxide and dust, behaviors consistent with comets warming as they approach the Sun. Nonetheless, its retrograde orbit and unexpected movements keep the debate alive.

Regardless of the truth, this is a rare scientific opportunity. Telescopes worldwide are racing to observe and study this interstellar visitor before it disappears into space once more, leaving us to ponder: is this truly a comet, or is it something more extraordinary?

  • How to Achieve the Great Space Invasion Ending in Silent Hill F by Completing and Solving

How to Achieve the Great Space Invasion Ending in Silent Hill F by Completing and Solving

A Silent Hill game isn’t complete without multiple endings. Since the first game in 1999, each installment has introduced new endings, whether they expand on the original, offer entirely different outcomes, or just add a fun, lighthearted twist.

Silent Hill f continues this tradition in several ways. Most endings build on the initial conclusion, but some are extraterrestrial-themed as well. The UFO ending is unlocked differently here compared to previous games—there’s much less alien technology involved. Here’s how to achieve it.

    ### Can You Unlock the UFO Ending on Your First Playthrough?

Like most Silent Hill titles, the humorous and over-the-top endings can’t be unlocked during your first game. In Silent Hill f, only one ending is available initially. The rest are only accessible after starting a New Game Plus, which requires loading a saved game from when you’ve already beaten the game.

However, you only need to have completed the original ending to move toward the UFO ending, called the Great Space Invasion. You can unlock it fairly early in your playthrough after meeting just that one requirement.

It’s a good idea to keep a save file marked as “Clear Game.” That way, you can start a New Game Plus without replaying everything from scratch if you decide to pursue the other endings later.

    ### Finding the Radio Broadcasts

There are a few prerequisites for unlocking the UFO ending, which you can check under the Endings menu after finishing the main story. Even though the steps seem many, they’re actually quite straightforward:

    – Listen to all the UFO radio broadcasts.
    – Find all three “The Great Space Invasion” movie posters in the correct order after hearing the broadcasts.
    – Discover the “Great Space Invasion” movie review after completing the above.

You should start with the radio broadcasts, but don’t worry—finding each poster isn’t strictly dependent on listening to all broadcasts first. You can collect the posters in any order, then revisit them to get the ending as long as the sequence is correct.

    ### Radio Broadcast #1

The first broadcast is shortly after being chased by the Fog Monster. Spot a light in a narrow alley, then follow it inside. Climb under debris to enter a small interior, where you’ll hear a radio crackling. It mentions a bridge out of town destroyed by an unknown object—mysterious indeed.

    ### Radio Broadcast #2

The second broadcast can be heard when heading toward Rinko’s house. It’s in a house at the corner where the rice fields start. Enter via the back ladder, find the radio in one of the rooms, and interact. You’ll hear some people congratulating each other before it cuts off, which is quite strange.

    ### Radio Broadcast #3

The last broadcast is located in the southern part of Ebisugaoka, similar to the first location. It’s encountered when moving back toward the middle school area with Rinko and Shu. After passing through the house there, listen to the radio again; it talks about how not every day needs to be extraordinary, even hinting at extraterrestrial themes.

Note: There are no explicit indicators that you’ve heard all three broadcasts. Use your judgment based on how odd they sound, and remember that all posters become interactable once listened to.

    ### Finding the Great Space Invasion Movie Posters

Along with the broadcasts, you need to find three posters for the movie “The Great Space Invasion.” These posters must be viewed in strict order; interacting with them out of sequence won’t unlock the ending. However, you can fix the order later by revisiting and re-interacting with them in the correct order.

To confirm you’re interacting with the right poster, check the number in its description—first one, then two, then three.

    #### Poster #1

This first poster is located on your way to Rinko’s house, deep in the rice fields. In the far east corner, find the house and move aside some planks to enter the yard. Inside, you’ll find the poster on the wall. Proper interaction triggers a cutscene where a UFO streaks across the sky.

    #### Poster #2

Next, locate this poster in Ebisugaoka, right across from the Hokora, as you travel toward the Middle School. Correctly interacting will show a scene of two UFOs in the sky.

    #### Poster #3

The final poster is the earliest you can find but the last you should interact with. North of Chizuruya, enter an alley by weaving from the east side. You’ll encounter a mannequin enemy stabbing a wall beside the poster. This alley is also part of an early journey with Shu and Rinko. Interacting correctly triggers a scene with three UFOs; getting it wrong results in a strange alien noise.

    ### Picking Up the Movie Review

Once you’ve listened to the broadcasts and found all posters in the correct order, you can locate the “Great Space Invasion” movie review. It only appears after the necessary conditions are met and is conveniently located near Chizuruya’s entrance.

As you walk away from the last poster, you’ll hear a louder alien noise approaching the shop. Interacting with the review will trigger the UFO ending. Be sure to save beforehand if you want to keep this ending instead of restarting the game.

Interestingly, if you listened to all the radio broadcasts in a previous playthrough, you might only need to find the posters in order to unlock the ending this time. The game seems to track listening progress across saves.

    ### Additional Notes

If you miss the movie review initially, you can still find it later when revisiting Ebisugaoka. Just make sure to revisit the area after completing the earlier steps, and it’ll be available for interaction.

  • What To Do With Pirate Transponders in No Man’s Sky: Solving & Completing

What To Do With Pirate Transponders in No Man’s Sky: Solving & Completing

Much of No Man’s Sky revolves around exploring new worlds and making discoveries, but you’ll often find yourself in fights during your journeys. This is especially common when you’re traveling between planets in your spaceship, where Pirates are likely to attack.

Pirates tend to show up unexpectedly, often catching you at inconvenient moments—like when you’re distracted or investigating a space anomaly. Fortunately, defeating Pirates isn’t too hard, and you’ll gain experience from the battle.

    ### How to Get Pirate Transponders

Pirate Transponders are acquired by destroying Pirate ships. These enemies can usually be taken care of easily, especially if you have support from your Fleet or friends. Sometimes, several Pirates attack at once, but focusing on one enemy at a time generally allows you to handle the situation without too much trouble.

One good way to find Pirates is to accept missions that require you to take out a certain number of them. These missions often guide you to their locations, making it easier to find and fight Pirates rather than searching for them randomly.

    ### What to Do With Pirate Transponders

You can sell Pirate Transponders for Units at Galactic Trade Terminals. Additionally, these items can be exchanged to increase your reputation with the Mercenaries Guild.

Not every Space Station has a Mercenaries Guild, so if you want to redeem your Transponders there, you might need to collect a number of them before finding a proper location.

To locate a system with a Mercenaries Guild, open your Catalogue and Guide, choose any Journey Milestone, then select the Mercenaries Guild faction at the bottom right of your screen. Pick the Pin Medal option to see nearby systems with Mercenaries Guild presence.
