DOHA: Qatar finalized a deal on Wednesday to acquire aircraft from American manufacturer Boeing for Qatar Airways during President Donald Trump’s visit to the Gulf nation.
Trump stated that the agreement is valued at $200 billion and encompasses 160 aircraft. The signing ceremony, which took place in Doha, was attended by both Trump and Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani.
The announcement came during Trump’s second stop on his tour of Gulf countries, following a series of agreements made with Saudi Arabia on Tuesday.
At the signing event, Trump mentioned that Boeing CEO Kelly Ortberg informed him it was “the largest order of jets in the history of Boeing, which is fantastic.”
Trump continued, “It’s over $200 billion for 160 jets, which is remarkable. Congratulations to Boeing. Get those planes delivered.”
