  • How to Beat Shiny Chi-Yu in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet by Completing and Solving

How to Beat Shiny Chi-Yu in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet by Completing and Solving

The final Treasures of Ruin event has arrived in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Of all the battles so far, Chi-Yu might be the easiest of the dark, shiny legendaries. Still, going into its raid den unprepared is not advisable.

With its strong offensive abilities, Chi-Yu demands a solid defense if you want to survive long enough to win. If you manage to defeat this quick fish, you’ll receive a variety of helpful items to boost your Pokémon’s strength and get closer to adding this rare shiny legendary to your team.

Shiny Chi-Yu is part of the last segment of the Treasures of Ruin event. During this part, you cannot catch Shiny Chi-Yu directly in the raid; instead, you’ll get it as a Mystery Gift once the community has achieved 1,000,000 victories collectively.

You can fight Chi-Yu alone or with friends, but it’s best to be connected to the internet during raids to ensure your victory counts.

This event runs only from September 1, 12:00 a.m. UTC to September 14, 11:59 p.m. UTC in 2025.

Wo-Chien and Chien-Pao are available now through Mystery Gifts, and Shiny Ting-Lu will be coming soon. All three Pokémon have met their community defeat requirements.

If you haven’t defeated any yet, don’t worry. Anyone with a Nintendo Online account and an internet connection can claim these Pokémon as Mystery Gifts. To do so, connect online, go to your Pokémon menu, select Mystery Gift, and choose “Get via Internet.” You can claim each one once per profile, along with 40 extra Tera Shards for every 100,000 victories above 1,000,000.

Defeating Chi-Yu grants rewards such as Fire Tera Shards, Exp. Candies (Large and Extra Large), Rare Candies, Bottle Caps, Vitamins like PP Up and Calcium, Ability Patches, Modest Mints, Herba Mysticas, and other valuable items like Nuggets and Star Pieces.

Chi-Yu’s abilities include the Beads of Ruin, which lowers the Special Defense of all Pokémon except itself by 25% from the start of battle. It uses Ruination twice—once at the beginning and again when the timer hits 50%. Its movepool is limited to Fire and Dark moves, primarily using Heat Wave and Snarl, which can reduce the target’s Special Attack.

Most effective Pokémon against Chi-Yu are those capable of physical attacks, especially Water, Rock, or Ground types, or Pokémon with secondary Fairy, Fighting, or Dark typing. High Special Defense and HP are beneficial.

Some tested Pokémon include Terrakion, Poliwrath, Azumarill, Crawdaunt, Urshifu-Rapid, Coalossal, Hisuian Arcanine, Garchomp, Tyranitar, Kyogre, and Primarina. These Pokémon resist Chi-Yu’s moves and can dish out significant damage with moves like Stone Edge, Liquidation, Surging Strikes, and Earthquake.

Avoid Pokémon like Quaquaval and Greninja, as their defenses may not withstand Chi-Yu’s attacks despite appropriate typings. Also, Role Play won’t transfer Chi-Yu’s ability, so plan accordingly.

Chi-Yu’s fight differs from previous Vessels of Ruin. It uses Ruination twice and steals your Tera Orb charge at 85% on the timer, which makes the first half of the battle the most challenging. Its Beads of Ruin activate at the start, reducing the Special Defense of your team.

To prepare, use the initial phase to set up weather, passively heal with moves like Aqua Ring, or boost stats with Cheer or status moves. The first round is best spent in preparation, as your Terrastallization will be delayed. Once you overcome this, focus on building your Tera meter and dealing damage.

Note the points in the battle when Chi-Yu will remove all stat changes and ability effects—after 50% and when its health drops below 45%. Making status moves after these points is safe, but be mindful of Snarl’s Debuff, which can decrease your Special Attack.

With perseverance and teamwork, you can defeat this fish. Once you’ve scored one victory, you have 999,999 wins to go! Between attempts, remember that the ongoing Shiny Outbreaks let you catch Charcadet from Paldea, Vulpix from Kitakami, and Numel from the Indigo Disc—so catch ’em all!

  • Your Guide to Finding Shiny Rayquaza in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

Your Guide to Finding Shiny Rayquaza in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

Christmas has arrived in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet, and with it comes the highly anticipated Shiny Rayquaza! For a limited time, players can capture this elusive Pokémon as a special gift from GameFreak this holiday season. However, this gift requires some effort to obtain.

True to its legendary status, Rayquaza is not an easy foe to defeat in a five-star tera raid battle. While it may not be the toughest tera battle available, it still poses a significant challenge. Make sure to bring your best Pokémon to its lair, or you might just end up with a lump of coal in your stocking!

Details About the Shiny Rayquaza Raid Event

You can catch Shiny Rayquaza until Sunday, January 5, 2025, at 3:59 p.m. PST. This event is particularly notable because Rayquaza cannot typically be found in Scarlet & Violet, and it features its unique shiny black coloration.

You are allowed to catch only one Shiny Rayquaza during the event, but if you manage to defeat it multiple times, you’ll receive extra rewards, which may include:

    • Dragon Tera Shards
    • TM115: Dragon Pulse
    • Ability Capsules
    • Ability Patches

If you’re having trouble locating Rayquaza’s tera den, try accessing your PokePortal and selecting the Tera Raid Battle option. Rayquaza should appear as an option in the following menu.

You can also team up with friends by first finding Rayquaza’s den (marked by a shining Dragon Tera symbol), then creating a group and a Link Code. Friends can join using the Link Code option found in the Tera Raids section of the Poke Portal.

    Rayquaza’s Abilities and Moves

This Rayquaza has the following specifications:

Level Normal Typing Tera Typing Ability Moves to Worry About
75 Dragon/Flying Dragon Air Lock – Cancels all active weather effects Dragon Ascent, Hurricane, Earthquake, Extreme Speed, Draco Meteor

Rayquaza is most dangerous due to its versatility. It has balanced physical and special attack stats, slightly depending on its random nature.

Its three most threatening moves are:

    • Earthquake, which can counter Steel, Ice, and Electric-type Pokémon.
    • Extreme Speed, posing a challenge for fragile Pokémon.
    • Hurricane, which can inflict the Confusion status effect.

Because it’s a high-ranked raid, Rayquaza’s base HP stat is multiplied by 35, giving it significant bulk. You will need at least one strong offensive Pokémon on your raid team to stand a chance against it.

Best Pokémon to Use Against Shiny Rayquaza

While you can defeat Shiny Rayquaza using various strong Pokémon, here’s a list of the top choices:

    Pokémon Special Notes
    Sylveon A solid, all-around choice.
Gardevoir Should use a Shell Bell for survivability.
Zacian Avoid using the Rusted Sword due to Earthquake; opt for another item.
Azumarill A versatile Pokémon that can switch between offense and defense.
Fluttermane Also should use a Shell Bell. Its Ghost and Fairy typing makes it immune to Rayquaza’s Extreme Speed and Dragon-type moves.
Mimikyu Offers greater survivability with its ability, allowing it to take one hit without damage.
Clefairy Leans more towards support than offense, similar to Azumarill.
Grimmsnarl Can apply status effect moves quickly, potentially outspeeding Rayquaza’s Extreme Speed.
Arceus (Fairy Plate) High balanced stats; Judgment becomes a Fairy move with higher damage than Moonblast.

All these Pokémon share Fairy typing, but not every Fairy type is ideal due to Rayquaza’s Earthquake being a strong counter to usually powerful Fairy-types with Steel typing, like Iron Valiant, Tinkaton, and Magearna.

The most effective choices will be those capable of lowering Rayquaza’s stats while raising their own efficiently.

You can utilize Steel-based Fairies equipped with an Air Balloon. This combination protects them from Earthquake if they have Levitate, or you might bring a supportive Pokémon with moves like Life Tear, Heal Pulse, or team stat boosts.

Dragon and Ice types can also succeed in this tera raid, but they should be wary, as their offensive advantages against Rayquaza could come with risks to their teammates.

If you lack a robust Fairy-type from your options above, consider the following alternative strategies:

    1. Change a Pokémon’s Tera Type to Fairy, even without a Fairy-type move, to gain immunity to Draco Meteor and Dragon Ascent.
    2. Team up with Pokémon that can inflict status conditions.
    3. Bring in a sturdy Pokémon like Milotic that can support others effectively.

Tips and Strategies for Battling Shiny Rayquaza

On the first turn of encountering Shiny Rayquaza, it will always launch Dragon Ascent. This makes Fairy-type Pokémon the best choice since Dragon Ascent deals no damage to them.

Your initial aim should be to lower Rayquaza’s stats using moves like Fake Tears, Screech, Tickle, or Snarl.

Do not use any stat-boosting moves on your Pokémon until Rayquaza drops below 80% health because it resets stat changes for your team. After that point, feel free safely to buff your Pokémon.

Once Rayquaza has cleared the field, focus on enhancing your team. Work towards raising your stats and preparing for Terastallization. Aim to boost your stats three times or until you feel your Pokémon are at risk.

Whenever you can safely Terastallize, you should take that opportunity.

At 50% health, Rayquaza will use Dragon Dance. At this point, you will want to play aggressively to avoid taking unnecessary damage, getting knocked out, and wasting precious time.

Be aware, there will also be two Draco Meteors at 60% and 30% health. If you’re using a Fairy type, this is not a significant concern.

If you’re struggling to stay alive long enough to Terastallize, consider giving your Pokémon a Shell Bell or using recovery moves like Draining Kiss.

By adhering to this basic strategy, you can tackle this tera raid solo if you prefer not to team up:

    1. Debuff Rayquaza until it hits 80% health.
    2. Buff your own stats.
    3. Attack and Terastallize at the earliest opportunity (unless at low health; in that case, wait until the reset).
    4. Catch your much-deserved prize.

Even though you can only catch Rayquaza once, you can challenge it as many times as you want. This is a great way to farm Herba Mystica, Tera Shards, and Ability Patches while also assisting your friends.

Although Rayquaza’s IVs and nature will be randomly generated, you can expect it to have the following moves once caught:

    • Dragon Pulse
    • Hurricane
    • Earthquake
    • Extreme Speed

With your shiny, legendary Rayquaza in hand, we hope you have a wonderful holiday season filled with exciting adventures!

  • Top Scarlet Enhancements and Builds in Ravenswatch

Top Scarlet Enhancements and Builds in Ravenswatch

In the game Ravenswatch, you initially have access to four characters, but there are actually eight playable characters in total. One of the characters you can start with is Scarlet. She stands out as one of the top choices for several reasons, particularly because she is easy to learn.

Scarlet packs a punch with her powerful attacks and offers a variety of strategies to tackle different enemies. You’ll discover her unique playstyle as you progress through the 18-minute chapters, making it clear why she’s unlike any other character in the game.

    Understanding Scarlet’s Two Forms

What makes Scarlet especially interesting is that she can transform between two distinct forms. During the day, she is in her Human form, where she attacks using quick slashes and can throw bombs that detonate after a brief period.

At night, she transforms into a massive creature and moves at a slower pace. Although her basic attacks remain similar, her special move changes into a powerful leap that delivers damage immediately, unlike the delayed bomb in her human form.

Scarlet undergoes three transformations in each chapter.

Combat requires a different approach depending on Scarlet’s form. In her monster form, you can adopt a much more aggressive style, while her human form allows you to leverage her speed to your advantage.

    Tips for Playing Scarlet

The character select screen in Ravenswatch.

To maximize your effectiveness with Scarlet, focus on her Power and Special attacks, and seek upgrades that lower the cooldowns on both actions.

This will allow you to quickly engage and disengage from combat using a mix of Power slashes and ranged special moves. Since most enemies are more dangerous at close range, keeping your distance is crucial to avoid using up precious revival items.

As you level up Scarlet, feel free to become bolder with your attacks.

If you can stun enemies with your ranged attacks, you can then close the distance to unleash your melee strikes, dealing substantial damage in a brief window.

    Top Scarlet Build and Upgrades

    Scarlet's build screen in Ravenswatch.

There are specific upgrades and Talents that enhance Scarlet’s gameplay greatly. Make an effort to secure the following upgrades, as they will provide significant advantages against tough bosses.

    Upgrade Details and Benefits
Distant Explosions This upgrade increases the targeting range and damage of both specials by 40%. It’s beneficial in both forms, allowing you to attack from a safe distance.
Short Wick While in human form, Scarlet’s bomb special explodes instantly without affecting her. Additionally, her special attack cooldowns are reduced by 20%, making them much more effective for aggressive play.
Slash Flurry Using a Power attack triggers a following attack that unleashes five slashes with 20% increased damage within three seconds. This can culminate in significant damage, especially if enemies are made vulnerable.
Wide Attacks Standard attacks gain a 40% range increase and deal 20% more damage. This upgrade makes Scarlet’s basic attacks much more effective and grows stronger with enhancements.
Double Strike Attacks directly after a Dash initiate a double strike, delivering 400% damage and earning one Combo Point.
