Crimson Desert is a huge game filled with numerous side quests, secret bosses, hidden secrets, and puzzles. Because of this, players can easily overlook important items that could significantly ease their journey through the main storyline.
One such item is the Magic Scythe, which is excellent for gathering materials like Rubber. However, it’s easy to miss this tool since it takes some effort to unlock.
### How to Unlock the Magic Scythe
The first step is to gain access to the village of Pororin in southern Hernand. To do this, you need to try entering the town three times. Each attempt triggers a short cutscene where you’re knocked out and wake up outside Pororin. On your third try, you’ll meet a Shai named Arkin, who gives you a small quest.
This quest involves retrieving a relic from the top of a large, conscious tree and walking through a destroyed forest. Once you’ve retrieved the relic from not Treebeard, talk to Arkin again. Doing so grants you the Sotdae of Bond and full access to Pororin, without being drugged or left lost in the woods by children.
### Complete The Pororin Workshop Request
After accessing Pororin, head south to the Petalton Workshop and talk to its owner, Lumiel. Choose the “Listen to Request” option to find out she needs herbs to brew a new potion. You’ll need to gather five Lavender flowers, which grow in a marked field when you start this quest.
Visit the field filled with purple flowers, pick five Lavender, and then return to Lumiel. Talk to her again to complete the quest and unlock her research options.
### Unlock and Research the Magic Scythe
The final step involves working through Lumiel’s research tree to reach the “Secret Tools of Life” option. You can’t unlock the scythe directly; instead, you have to progress through several nodes in the tree. Each node is tied to a specific quest—completing these quests grants you progress along the research path.
When you’re ready to research, return to Lumiel and speak with her. You’ll see that researching costs Silver and takes some in-game hours, with different nodes requiring varying amounts of time—ranging from a couple of hours to several.
### Cost and Acquisition
The Magic Scythe costs 500 Silver to unlock, which can be steep for early players. If funds are limited, you can steal gold bars from nobles in Demeniss Wildlife Park and sell them at banks.
Once the research is complete, visit Greymane Camp and talk to Ross. Select the Florindale location to dispatch your Greymane allies and choose the “Magic Scythe Production” option. After completing this dispatch, the Magic Scythe will appear in your inventory stash, ready to use. It greatly speeds up harvesting materials like Rubber, saving you time during your adventure.
