    Mewgenics Breeding Tips & Tricks | GamesRadar+

Mastering cat breeding in Mewgenics is a big part of this tactical RPG, where you play as a professional cat breeder. You keep cats in your home, and eventually, they will reproduce. You don’t get to pick which cats breed together, but there are some details about the breeding system that you can use if you have specific collars you want to attach to your cats. Here’s a quick overview.

Breeding occurs when you send your kittens to a character named Tink. As they reach certain age milestones, you learn more about your cats, such as their gender, mood, libido, which cats they love or dislike, and how inbred they are. These details are important to understanding how the breeding works in the game.

Every day, a new stray cat appears at your house. These cats help expand your roster, even after your main cats die during a run. The stray cats come with randomly assigned stats and skills, giving your collection a steady boost.

Breeding takes place at the end of each in-game day when kittens arrive the next morning. However, kittens can’t participate in battles until their second day. Sometimes, nothing happens during the night, and there’s a chance your cats might get into fights, get injured, or worse, die.

Each room in your house has its own stats, which are influenced by how clean the room is (cats tend to poop a lot) and the furniture you put inside. The key stats are:
    – Appeal: influences the quality of stray cats that show up.
    – Comfort: affects how often cats breed or fight.
    – Health: impacts lifespan and the chance to develop or recover from disorders.
    – Mutation: gives a chance for cats to develop random mutations.
    – Stimulation: determines the quality of newborn kittens.

You can expand your house by sending retired cats to Frank. Every room’s stats improve as you do so, but the overall Appeal stat applies across the entire house.

Inheriting stats and skills from parent cats depends on several factors. A kitten’s stats come from its parents, and if breeding happens in a room with high stimulation, it’s more likely they’ll inherit the higher stat between the two. Skills can also be passed down, often from cats who have adventure-based or class-based abilities, especially if the room’s stimulation is high.

Mutations and defects are usually inherited from the parents. If a room has a high Health stat (10 or above), you can cure defects accumulated by your cats. Not all defects are bad; for example, Crohn’s Disease, which causes cats to drop poop everywhere, can actually synergize well with certain items like the Crown of Feculence, which keeps the poop active on your team.

Cats come in three genders: Male, Female, and ?. They also have sexualities: Straight, Gay/Lesbian, or Bisexual. Cats of the same gender can’t breed, so if your house is full of gay cats, you won’t get kittens. However, there’s a higher chance that gay stray cats will appear, with class abilities inherited from the cats they last interacted with.

Each cat has extra stats that can be viewed by sending kittens to Tink:
    – Libido: how often they want to breed.
    – Aggression: how often they fight with other cats.
    – Breeding Status: shows how inbred the cats are; high inbreeding increases the risk of birth defects.
    – Affinities: cats can fall in love or become mortal enemies, affecting their likelihood to breed or fight when together.

If all this feels overwhelming, don’t worry. For most of my extensive playtime, I simply went with the flow, without worrying too much about every detail. Still, understanding these mechanics helps you to engineer your perfect cats—almost like a true Mewgenics.

  • Unlocking Hades 2: The Ultimate Guide to Finding Poppies

Unlocking Hades 2: The Ultimate Guide to Finding Poppies

Collecting Poppy Seeds in Hades 2 is key to growing Poppies back in the Crossroads. To find these seeds, you first need to reach the deepest part of the Underworld, the last layer of Tartarus. Only then will you have a chance to discover a digging spot for the seeds. It’s quite tricky since the process can be slow and frustrating, especially because you need many Poppy Seeds to unlock the best aspects for the Argent Skull and other upgrades.

To improve your chances of finding Poppy Seeds, you should avoid certain exits that follow the main path marked with numbers, known as the Express Route. Additionally, choosing Hecuba as your Hades 2 Companion can help. By delaying your trip to Charon’s shop before facing Chronos, you’ll go through more chambers, increasing the number of opportunities to find digging spots for Poppy Seeds. Keep in mind, though, this tactic can lead to more damage encounters, so only do it if you’re confident in your skills and build.

Hecuba’s perk makes digging spots appear more often in all regions, boosting your chances of collecting enough Poppy Seeds. Sometimes, you may even find multiple seeds in a single run, which you can plant in the Crossroads garden near Odysseus. Be prepared, as each seed takes around 41 encounters—almost an entire run—to grow into a Poppy. Since you need five Poppies to unlock the coveted Persephone Aspect for the Argent Skull, it can be a lengthy grind.

Once you get a Poppy Seed, plant it in the garden. Besides helping you gather Seeds, Hecuba also makes it easier to obtain other items like the Hades 2 Thalamus and Mandrake Root, especially if you’re taking the Surface route.

  • How to Obtain Iron in Hades 2: A Quick Guide

How to Obtain Iron in Hades 2: A Quick Guide

Mining Iron in Hades 2 works similarly to gathering Silver and Bronze, but collecting it in large amounts on the surface can be quite tough. This is mainly because of how the region is set up. Melinoe usually has to complete two or more Hades 2 battles on a single undead warship, which often doesn’t have any Iron outcroppings. Unfortunately, you can’t skip collecting Iron, since it’s necessary to unlock certain Hades 2 Aspects and cast some spells. So, here’s where you can find Iron and some tips to make your surface runs more efficient.

Where to find Iron in Hades 2:
You can locate Iron outcroppings in the Rift of Thessaly region on the surface. They appear as piles of cannonballs. Use the Crescent Pick to hit these piles three times to get three pieces of Iron. Seems simple enough, right?

The issue is that Iron, along with other resources found in Thessaly like Mandrake seeds and Driftwood, seems pretty rare. It can spawn anywhere in the region, not just on warships, but since you’ll often finish multiple battles on the same ship, your chances of spotting Iron outcroppings by the time you reach Eris can be quite low.

If you really need Iron, consider bringing Raki as your Hades 2 Familiar, if you’ve unlocked him. He’s a white raven who increases the chances of Iron outcroppings appearing, which can also help you gather Bronze in Ephyra. Otherwise, your best shot is to explore as many locations in Thessaly as possible and hope luck is on your side.

If you’re unsure about how to access the Surface in Hades 2, I’ve got guidance to help you get there.

  • Hades 2 Weapon Tier List & Unlock Guide

Hades 2 Weapon Tier List & Unlock Guide

Our Hades 2 weapon ranking shows which of the Nocturnal Arms we believe are best for Melinoe to carry into both the Underworld and the Surface. After more than 100 hours playing Hades 2, we’ve thoroughly tested each weapon—from the sharp Sister Blades and straightforward Witch’s Staff to the explosive Argent Skull and the missile-packed Black Coat exosuit—and ranked them from S to C-tier. Keep in mind, none of these weapons are outright bad; some are just more effective than others.

At the beginning of Hades 2, only the Witch’s Staff is available, so if you’re eager to try the top-tier weapons from the Silver Pool, you’ll need to complete many runs and gather a good amount of resources to unlock them. Alongside this ranking, I’ve included instructions on how to unlock each Nocturnal Arm.

Weapon upgrades are also possible through Hades 2 Aspects, so if you want to make your favorite weapons even stronger, be sure to check out the related guide!

    Hades 2 Weapon Ranking

Since each weapon has multiple attack styles and combat techniques, it’s worth trying them all to see which suits your playstyle best. However, some weapons stand out as excellent choices to help you progress far in any run:

    S-tier:

    • Sister Blades: Lim and Oros are our top picks because they’re easy to handle and can dish out massive damage when combined with the right Boons and sneaky Omega Attacks. The fast regular Attacks can stun-lock enemies efficiently, while the ranged Special and Omega Special are perfect for applying curses to groups of foes.

    A-tier:

    • Black Coat: Xinth is highly adaptable, featuring solid melee and ranged options, explosive power, a defensive block, and increased movement speed, making it effective in most fights.
    • Argent Skull: Though it takes some practice due to its shell system, it can deliver high damage quickly at various ranges. Its Special and Omega Special are excellent for damage and quick movement through enemies.

    B-tier:

    • Moonstone Axe: This heavy axe hits hard but is slow, especially when charging its powerful Omega moves. A cautious approach is needed when using it.
    • Witch’s Staff: As Melinoe’s starting weapon, it’s straightforward and beginner-friendly but doesn’t particularly excel in any area.

    C-tier:

    • Umbral Flames: The Flames aren’t very impressive in their base form and only shine when continuously firing the Omega Attack. Otherwise, they can feel awkward and require a different play style.

How to Unlock All Hades 2 Weapons

Melinoe begins with the Witch’s Staff, but the other five weapons are unlocked at the Silver Pool in the Crossroads. You’ll need to gather and spend specific resources listed in each weapon’s entry, some of which are quite challenging to obtain. For example, the Black Coat and Argent Skull can only be unlocked after unlocking the Surface area, and they’re the last weapons to become available, requiring you to unlock all previous ones first.

Here are the resources needed to unlock each weapon and a brief note on how they work:

    Witch’s Staff, Descura

    • Unlocked from the start.
    • Allows precise melee attacks with great reach and can cast a projectile that applies status effects. Its Omega moves can hit multiple enemies with line explosions and explosive projectiles.

    Sister Blades, Lim and Oros

    • Unlock with 1 Silver mined in Erebus.
    • These dual weapons deliver fast close-range swings, stabs, and throws. The Omega Attack teleports Melinoe behind her target for easy backstabs, and both the Special and Omega Special can apply curses effectively.

    Umbral Flames, Ygnium

    • Unlock with 1 Silver from Erebus.
    • These are dual torches that fire ghostly fireballs, with hold attacks turning fireballs into waves, and orbiting fires dealing damage while short-lived.

    Moonstone Axe, Zorephet

    • Unlock with 15 Silver spent at the Silver Pool.
    • A slow but powerful axe with a quick overhead spin attack and a devastating Omega Special with ground shockwaves.

    Argent Skull, Revaal

    • Unlock with 2 Adamant (mined in Olympus) and 2 Cinder (from Hecate fight).
    • A unique weapon that fires explosive shells needing retrieval; its Omega Attack and Special provide area damage and quick mobility options.

    Black Coat, Xinth

    • Unlock with 2 Adamant and 2 Cinder.
    • An exosuit that boosts speed and delivers a powerful fist attack along with missile swarm specials that lock on during Omega mode. It also includes a shield while channeling the Omega Attack to guard against incoming damage.

Unlocking these weapons is just the beginning. You’ll eventually get access to Weapon Aspects, which can change how each weapon feels and boost Melinoe’s power significantly—making her capable of defeating the toughest bosses. For more detailed instructions, refer to the full guide linked at the top of this page.

  • Locating G Rock in Hades 2: A Complete Guide

Locating G Rock in Hades 2: A Complete Guide

To get Hades 2 G Rock, also known as Glassrock, you need to travel through Erebus and Oceanus until you reach the Fields of Mourning in the Underworld. It’s a tough material to find because it spawns rarely in an area that doesn’t have many encounter spots. However, it’s a crucial resource if you want to unlock every weapon and some special Aspects. Here’s what you should know about collecting G Rock and what you can do with it.

You can mine Glassrock in Hades 2 by using the Crescent Pick in the Fields of Mourning. Look for sharp, dark rock outcroppings as you explore the area—your best bet is to follow Selene’s Reagent Sensing guide or just keep an eye out. Strike each outcropping three times to gather three pieces of Glassrock.

Since the Fields of Mourning is the third region in the Underworld, you’ll need to defeat both Hecate and the Hades 2 Scylla boss to access this area. The region is relatively small with only a few large locations, which means fewer chances to find Glassrock even once you’re there.

As you become stronger, the journey to the Fields should get easier. Bringing Raki, the white raven Familiar, along can help increase your odds of finding Glassrock outcroppings and speed up mining them.

The main reason to farm G Rock early on is to upgrade your Crescent Pick to Rank II or to unlock the Argent Skull weapon. But it also has other uses, along with some materials you’ll need for different upgrades:

    – Upgrading the Crescent Pick to Rank II requires 4 Glassrock and 2 Hades 2 Iron.
    – Unlocking the Argent Skull weapon demands 2 Glassrock and 1 Hades 2 Bronze.
    – Accessing the Sister Blades’ Aspect of Artemis needs 15 Silver and 1 Glassrock.
    – Unlocking the Moonstone Axe’s Aspect of Thanatos requires 4 Glassrock and 4 Nightshade.
