Kirby Air Riders: Release Info, Trailers, Gameplay And More

The lineup for the upcoming Switch 2 console is full of iconic Nintendo titles. Launching with Mario Kart World, players will also be treated to Donkey Kong Bananza just a month later. In addition to these, there's exciting news about another cherished character making his return: Kirby Air Riders, a sequel to the beloved GameCube title Kirby Air Ride, both overseen by the renowned Masahiro Sakurai of Smash Bros. fame. While some may underestimate this Kirby spin-off, it's important to recognize its value. Here’s all the essential information you need about Kirby Air Riders.

    Release Window

While a specific launch date for Kirby Air Riders hasn’t been announced, it is slated to arrive sometime in 2025. It’s likely to be released during the fall or winter months, but further confirmation will be awaited.

    Platforms

Kirby Air Riders will be exclusive to the Nintendo Switch 2 and will not be available on previous generations. To participate in the fun, players will need to upgrade to the new console.

    Trailers

The teaser for Kirby Air Riders debuted during the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, showcasing only a cinematic glimpse of the title. The trailer features Kirby attempting to catch a falling star, which enables him to pilot his way through a vibrant green landscape while racing against other Kirby variants before the game’s title appears.

Even though it's a follow-up, the original Kirby Air Ride was devoid of a narrative, and we don't anticipate this release having a story aspect either. As of now, no details or hints regarding a plot have been made public.

    Gameplay

While no actual gameplay footage was shared in the initial teaser, we can draw some conclusions based on the original game design. The original Kirby Air Ride was innovative as a one-button racing game, allowing players to choose from a variety of Kirby characters and vehicles, each with unique stats. Players would automatically accelerate as they used a single button to brake, perform drifts, and activate special abilities.

The previous installment featured three primary game modes: a traditional racing mode, a unique top-down mode, and the City Trial mode, where players could explore an open city and collect vehicle upgrades before timed mini-games commenced.

So far, the only characters confirmed are Kirby and a few color variations. It’s safe to speculate that the final roster will likely include other iconic characters from the Kirby universe, like King Dedede and Waddle Dee.

    Preorder

As we await a confirmed release date, preorder details for Kirby Air Riders are not yet available. Stay tuned for updates as they become available.

When discussing iconic franchises in the FPS genre, one title that often gets overlooked is Painkiller. Similar to Doom: The Dark Ages, this forthcoming game isn't merely a remake; it’s a fresh installment that reimagines the series, even if the story has never been a focal point. Unlike other FPS titles such as Borderlands 4, which feature an abundance of RPG elements and skills, this game will center on high-octane action. If you’ve been yearning for that classic FPS thrill, let’s delve into what this new Painkiller has to offer.

Confirmed platforms for Painkiller include PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. There will be no versions available for last-gen consoles or the Switch, though a future port for the anticipated Switch 2 may be possible.

    Trailers

The new Painkiller, sharing the same title as the original, was unveiled at the Future Games Show in March 2025. The announcement trailer, under a minute long, is filled with intense gameplay. While the storyline appears to be minimal, the setup indicates that the protagonist is trapped in Purgatory and has the opportunity, granted by the Voice of the Creator, to become a Champion. The mission is to defeat Azazel before he can release his legions of demons on Earth in order to secure salvation.

    Gameplay

    Saber Interactive

The gameplay showcased in the trailer, while heavily edited, demonstrates the rapid-paced action and gore that Painkiller aims for. A variety of weapons, including pistols, rifles, grenade launchers, and a bizarre fire beam weapon, are already featured. The enemies are the grotesque minions of Azazel, taking on a plethora of disturbing forms akin to those found in Doom.

Movement plays a significant role as jumps, dashes, and grapples are utilized to traverse the environments efficiently.

Notably, this iteration of Painkiller will offer solo and online co-op play for up to three players or AI bots. Each player will have the option to choose one of four unique characters: Ink, Void, Sol, or Roch, each boasting distinct skills and abilities. Additionally, players can enhance their characters through tarot cards that improve various aspects of their builds and can synergize with their teammates’ cards for even greater effects.

While we await a concrete release date, there currently are no preorder options for Painkiller. However, you can add the game to your wishlist to receive updates and check back as we continue to provide more information.

Kingmakers: Release Info, Trailers, Gameplay And More

Have you ever wondered how much havoc you could wreak by bringing an assault rifle into a medieval battlefield? Kingmakers is here to explore that concept and takes it even further by incorporating a variety of modern-day weapons that include grenade launchers, sniper rifles, and trucks. Although it arrives in a historical setting reminiscent of titles like Ghost of Yotei and Metal Gear Solid Delta, it clearly embraces a more inventive approach. The sheer oddity of plunging into a battalion of knights while driving a pickup truck has positioned this game as one of the most intriguing upcoming titles, but there’s more to Kingmakers than just its absurd premise. So, let’s don our armor and get ready to reload our firearms as we dive into all the details about Kingmakers.

If you’re unable to try out this upcoming PC game, no worries—we’ve got information on all the upcoming titles for PS5 and Xbox Series X as well.

    Release Window

As of now, Kingmakers does not have a specific release date. The game is anticipated to be launched in the second quarter of 2025.

    Platforms

Unfortunately for console gamers, Kingmakers is currently exclusive to PC. Given the scope of the game, it seems unlikely that console ports will be available, though we would love to be proven wrong!

    Trailers

    Kingmakers - Official Announcement Trailer

Announced in February 2024, the trailer for Kingmakers quickly captures attention. A narrator describes a heroic figure responsible for guiding a nation to glory before we see soldiers in pickup trucks charging into a historical war. The trailer showcases grand battles, weaponry, and intriguing gameplay mechanics.

Kingmakers Gameplay Overview - Future Games Show Spring Showcase 2025

The gameplay overview trailer from the Future Games Show in 2025 offers a more in-depth look at the game's mechanics while keeping the narrative elements somewhat light.

While the plot isn't heavily emphasized, there's lore to explore. Your character has traveled back 500 years to alter the course of history and prevent a potential apocalypse. Players can choose to ally with England, Scotland, or Wales, leading to multiple possible endings.

    Gameplay

    tinybuild

Although the game presents a storyline, the gameplay clearly takes precedence in Kingmakers. This third-person shooter immerses players in massive medieval battles, pitting them against foes armed with period-appropriate weaponry like swords and bows. Meanwhile, your character wields modern firearms, grenade launchers, vehicles, and even helicopters. This dynamic creates a gameplay experience similar to a Musou title, where players can mow down countless enemies with relative ease. The destruction is remarkably dynamic and takes place in real time.

However, Kingmakers goes beyond mere action; it incorporates strategic elements that enable players to switch to a tactical view to expertly command their troops on the fly. Additionally, you can construct defensive structures and fortifications to enhance your position.

The game supports solo play, but can also accommodate cooperative play with up to four players, allowing each participant to control their own army in an expansive war simulation.

    Preorder

Although Kingmakers does not yet have an official release date, an early access phase is likely to occur prior to its launch. Meanwhile, you can add the game to your wishlist to stay updated.

FBC: Firebreak Release Info, Trailers, Gameplay, More

It wasn't until later in the game that we discovered that Control is part of the Alan Wake universe. With its DLC and the confirmation in Alan Wake 2, anticipation for Control 2 has reached the same heights as other upcoming titles like Death Stranding 2. Although details on the direct sequel are still limited, we're being introduced to an intriguing spin-off titled FBC: Firebreak. This marks Remedy's first fully online multiplayer endeavor, retaining the studio's signature creativity and quirky style. The Oldest House is as unpredictable as ever, but we've managed to compile all the details we could find on this new title.

This is just one of the many upcoming games for PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC that you should keep on your radar, so be sure to check them all out.

    Release Window

Hiss enemies are attacked by sticky notes in FBC: Firebreak.
    Remedy

FBC: Firebreak currently has a release window set for Summer 2025. It was last showcased in March without an exact date, so we're hoping for a late summer launch, provided there are no delays.

    Platforms

A player throwing a grenade in FBC: Firebreak.
    Remedy

FBC: Firebreak will be available exclusively on modern platforms, including the PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. It won't be playable on last-gen consoles or the Switch, although a future device, like the rumored Switch 2, could potentially support it.

    Trailers

The announcement for FBC: Firebreak took place during the Xbox Partner Preview in October 2024, and it opens with visuals of the Oldest House and the Hiss. Importantly, it quickly establishes its distinction from Control by revealing that it is a 3-player co-op FPS, showcasing various weapons against hordes of enemies.

The gameplay trailer emphasizes, as expected, the interactive elements of the game. In this trailer, rogue sticky notes threaten to engulf the Oldest House, aligning perfectly with the unique tone of Control. This same trailer was showcased during the Future Games Show in March 2025.

Delving deeper, this spin-off integrates some narrative elements. FBC: Firebreak is set six years after the conclusion of Control, placing you in the role of a Firebreak agent tasked with resolving the situation in the Oldest House. While hints of connections to the original game exist, narrative depth appears to play a lesser role in this installment.

    Gameplay

A team shooting in FBC: Firebreak.
    Remedy

While FBC: Firebreak might visually resemble a typical co-op PvE game, it’s important to remember that Remedy always adds their unique twist. Check out our comprehensive preview for a detailed analysis of our first-hand gameplay experience, but here’s a brief overview.

The mode highlighted in the trailers, and the one we played, is named Paper Chase. In addition to battling the Hiss, your primary goal is to eliminate a growing infestation of sticky notes. These sticky notes not only attack and obstruct your vision but can also empower enemies, turning them into formidable elites. A climactic battle features a massive sticky note boss called Sticky Ricky, whose health is represented by a staggering one million sticky notes.

Before each mission, players can equip weapons, perks, and specialized tools referred to as Crisis Kits. These kits can include items such as a water blaster or gear for repairing broken systems within the Oldest House.

Players have the option to extract from missions at their discretion; however, the challenge and risks increase over time. Striking a balance between reaping rewards and potential losses will be crucial. Additionally, you and your team will determine mission difficulty and how many zones to traverse, tailoring the length of each session to your preferences.

    Preorder

As there is currently no official release date, FBC: Firebreak isn't available for preorder. However, most players will likely not need to preorder, as the game will be available on launch day through Game Pass (PC or Ultimate) and PlayStation Plus Extra or Premium.

The trailer introduces us to a transformed Tokyo, showcasing the aftermath of Ninja Gaiden 3. The story reveals that the Dark Dragon has returned, unleashing chaos with relentless cursed rain. The first character we see is Yakumo, a new hero who embodies the spirit of a young ninja.
