Rainbow Island is full of different slimes, especially the large Gordo Slimes that block paths and treasure vaults with their size. To get past these big slimes, you need to feed them their favorite foods until they burst. When they pop, they release 12 smaller versions of that slime, which is a good way to start collecting rare slimes.

### What Are Gordo Slimes?

Gordo Slimes are giant versions of regular slimes. They are quite big and can block tunnels and areas. You can’t pass through them until you feed them enough of their preferred food, making them explode. Once they burst, they leave behind smaller slimes and open up new pathways or reveal hidden areas.

While some options are straightforward, there are plenty of Plorts to farm for profits.

From initial Pink Slimes to the rare and hard-to-find late-game slimes, here’s everything you need to know about the best slimes to make money quickly so you can expand your ranch and turn Rainbow Island into your perfect home.

How to Get Pink Slimes and Pink Plorts

Pink Slimes are versatile and plentiful around Rainbow Island. They have the least valuable Plorts, but they become more valuable when merged into Largo Slimes. These slimes can eat anything, which makes them ideal for feeding other slimes that need resources you haven’t yet figured out how to obtain. Pink Slimes are great early-game options, helping you gather extra Plorts and feed difficult slimes like Flutter Slimes. They’re also useful for farming Largo Plorts for future Largos, serving as essential stepping stones in your ranching journey.

Pink Slimes can be found around Rainbow Island and are easy to gather.

How to Get Yolky Slimes and Yolky Plorts

Yolky Slimes are tricky to find—they don’t have a dedicated home region. Instead, they appear sporadically in nests across the map. When you spot a Yolky Slime, grab it immediately and bring it back to your ranch. You can keep Yolky Slimes in a simple coop—they don’t require special food or enclosures.

These slimes are valuable because they produce large eggs which hatch into chicks or provide Yolky Plorts, which have mid-range value. The eggs can be smashed to collect chicks and Yolky Plorts, aiding your farm’s development. Just remember that Yolky Slimes need space to produce eggs; overcrowding will prevent egg production. You can house multiple Yolky Slimes together initially, but managing their numbers is important to prevent an excess of hens and roosters.

Note: Unlike Fire and Puddle Slimes, Yolky Slimes cannot be turned into Largo Slimes.

Yolky Slimes are useful for increasing hen populations efficiently.

How to Get Dervish Slimes and Dervish Plorts

Dervish Slimes are only found during storms when tornados sweep across the map, tossing slimes around. Catching a few during these events will set you up for a reliable source of Dervish Plorts. These slimes love Prickly Pears, which can be hard to find early on, but you can merge Dervish Slimes with Tabby Slimes to take advantage of their complementary diets and control their populations better. This also boosts plort output.

Note: Dervish Slimes are best kept under control to prevent chaos.

How to Get Rock Slimes and Rock Plorts

Rock Slimes are aggressive and have spikes that can harm you, similar to Crystal Slimes. Their plorts sell for a steady rate and they eat veggies, making them relatively easy to farm. Be cautious when collecting plorts; use a Plort Collector terminal to gather them automatically, reducing risk. Keep your distance from these Slimes during collection to avoid injury.

How to Get Boom Slimes and Boom Plorts

Boom Slimes are highly explosive and constantly on the verge of detonating, which can disorient nearby slimes and damage you. Their explosions are dangerous, so an automatic Plort Collector is essential. Their plorts have mid-range value and are required for many upgrades. To maximize efficiency, combine Boom Slimes with other types like Rock or Crystal Slimes to produce more plorts with less effort, avoiding the need to build multiple specialized corrals initially.

Warning: Avoid creating Boom Largo Slimes capable of flight, as they can be difficult to manage.

How to Get Flutter Slimes and Flutter Plorts

Flutter Slimes are difficult to feed because Nectar, their preferred food, can only be collected from the Starlight Strand at night. These gentle slimes can fly, which means you’ll need a cage or a corral with a roof to keep them contained. They tend to be peaceful and curious, often relating well with Hen Hens and Roosteros. If you lack space or resources, temporarily housing a couple of hens in a coop can help produce Flutter Plorts.

Creating Largo Slimes with Flutter Plorts is a sustainable way to farm for higher Plort yields.

Tip: Twin Flutter Largos or Batty Flutter Largos are great choices.

How to Get Twin Slimes and Twin Plorts

Gold Slimes are the rarest and most valuable, with their plorts selling for hundreds of units. However, they can’t be housed as Largo Slimes or bred on your ranch. Instead, you’ll need a splash of luck to find them in the wild. When you spot a Gold Slime, feed it items from your inventory that it can eat. After snacking, it will produce gold plorts—highly prized for their worth. Keeping extras on hand is useful for crafting special decorations or upgrades.

Notes: Gold Slimes are extremely rare, and their plorts are highly sought after for their value.

Complete All Base and Max Plort Values in Slime Rancher 2

Selling Plorts is the main way to earn money in Slime Rancher 2. The most profitable time to sell is right after midnight, when prices change each day. Keep a close watch on which Plorts are trending to get the best prices before selling large amounts.

Pink Plorts are the most common, so they tend to be worth the least. It seems that the value of a Plort drops as you sell more of that type. For example, if Cotton Plorts are high-priced in the morning and you sell many, their price probably decreases the next day. To maximize your profits, it’s best to rotate which Plorts you sell and manage your stock carefully.

How to Automate the Conservatory in Slime Rancher 2 by Completing and Solving

There’s a lot to do in Slime Rancher 2, and fitting everything into your schedule can be overwhelming—especially when you’d rather be exploring Rainbow Island or the Grey Labyrinth for new materials. Luckily, there’s a way to make your slime ranching easier without adding much extra work.

Here’s how to find and unlock the Quantum Drones, which serve as your personal helpers on the ranch. We’ll cover their skills and how they can assist you in managing your ranch more efficiently. Everything you need to know about Quantum Drones and what they can do for your slime ranch!

### How to Unlock Quantum Drones

Before crafting your first Quantum Drone, you need to locate a Quantum Drone Station. These stations are only available after interacting with Ghostly Drone phantoms flying around the island. You’ll need to follow their trail until they materialize, then open them up to gain the station.

Each of the Conservatory expansions has one of these drones, along with extra drones in Rainbow Fields near the Cotton Slime Gordo and other regions. These drones provide a station that allows you to create an additional drone for your ranch.

You can also buy Drone Stations from Polestar Provisions, but they cost 20,000 and 100,000 Newbucks, respectively.

To craft a Quantum Drone Station, gather these materials:
– 100 Flutter Plorts
– 15 Lava Dust
– 15 Wild Honey
– 3 Strange Diamonds
– 1 Quantum Drone Station

### How to Use Quantum Drones

Once you craft the Drone Station, open the editing menu to place it anywhere on Rainbow Island. You can then use the Quantum Drone to search for resources or automate tasks around your ranch.

It’s best to keep drones at your ranch to ensure a steady supply of plorts, which can be stored or sold. You can also set drones to gather and feed slimes. They can collect plorts from automated corrals and deposit them into a silo, the Refinery, or the market.

Drones can also gather food for your slimes while you’re away, preventing them from getting agitated. If you have trouble finding enough food for your picky slimes, you can even set a drone to collect special items like Moondew Nectar from the wild.

Items collected by the drones are stored in the Quantum Cloud, which can hold thousands of items. You’ll need to withdraw items from the cloud to access them.

You can also send drones to gather resources such as hive products, spouts, and minerals. Remember to check on their inventory regularly so you can empty it and claim your resources for crafting or sale.

While working, drones will drain their battery. They need to return to the station to recharge, which is done by firing different types of Plorts into a receptacle on the drone station. Rarer Plorts give a higher recharge percentage, so using valuable Plorts will keep your drones operating longer.

How to Complete the Grey Labyrinth Door Puzzle in Slime Rancher 2

Discovering Rainbow Island in Slime Rancher 2 offers many exciting surprises. You’ll learn about the island’s mysteries and gather dozens of unique slimes to mix into new Largos. One prime location to find slimes is the Grey Labyrinth, if you can locate it.

Unlocking this late-game area takes patience, time, and a good understanding of slime behaviors. Here’s everything you need to unlock the Grey Labyrinth doors. Stay alert once you’re inside, as much of what’s hidden remains just out of reach until now.

Where to Find the Grey Labyrinth Entrance

You won’t discover the Grey Labyrinth unless you’ve been reading the various G.G. logs found on the fallen Quantum Drones scattered around Rainbow Island. Its secret doors are buried in caves behind Gordo slimes in both the Starlight Strand and Ember Valley.

In Ember Valley, you must feed the Boom Gordo slime about 50 different types of meat to make it burst. When it explodes, it releases 12 smaller Boom Slimes, revealing an entrance to the cave behind it—an entry to the Grey Labyrinth.

In the Starlight Strand, gather roughly 30 Nectar from around the Flutter Slimes’ habitat. Feed this Nectar to the nearby large Flutter Gordo slime at the crumbling wall, causing it to explode into a dozen smaller Flutter Slimes. Drop through the hole and continue forward to find the second entrance to the Grey Labyrinth.

Both entrances are blocked by a mechanism that’s interrupted. To open them, you need to repair the connection. But how?

How to Open the Grey Labyrinth Doors

Head back to the Conservatory and check the Comm Station often. Focus on talking to Vikor, as he’s been speaking with someone who knows about the Grey Labyrinth. After a few chats, Vikor will give you the blueprints for the Radiant Projector. You’ll need to craft four of these to open both doors.

Gather these materials to build the projectors in the lab beneath the Conservatory:

– 2,000 Newbucks
– 40 Hunter Plorts
– 40 Boom Plorts
– 20 Silky Sand
– 20 Lava Dust

Once you’ve made all four Radiant Projectors, go to the Grey Labyrinth door and open the editing menu. Place the first projector near the golden slime light along the wall; aim its beam toward the other side of the room where the second projector will go.

Use the second projector to angle the beam at the triangle-shaped buttons located by the door. This puzzle solution unlocks the portal to the Grey Labyrinth. It’s best to return to the Conservatory afterward to deposit any items in your Vac Tanks.

You might also want to craft extra Refinery Hubs or portals before heading in. These additions can help you access areas that are only available at certain times or make it easier to return quickly since the Grey Labyrinth is a vast, separate map, larger than Rainbow Island itself.

One of the first resources you’ll want to find is Deep Brine, which is readily available but can be tricky to collect if you don’t know where to look. Here’s what you need to know about locating Deep Brine on Rainbow Island and using it for upgrades.

Where to Find Deep Brine

Once you have the resource harvester, your options open up. Start your journey from the Conservatory and head into the Rainbow Fields, where you’ll find many Cotton and Pink Slimes. Travel north along the paths on the right to reach the seaside cliffs, which are home to Pink Slimes and Pogofruits. Use your sprint, jump, or jetpack to cross over to the isolated island to the north.

On this island, you’ll see several patches of Deep Brine bubbling from the sand and pooling on the ground. Use your resource harvester to collect bottles of Deep Brine, then take them back to the storage receptacle at the Conservatory.

Deep Brine respawns daily, so you can return each day to collect more. To the south, additional deposits are found around coral regions. These spots are initially out of reach, but as you explore Rainbow Islands further, you’ll find ways to access them. With a careful route, you can gather over a dozen bottles of Deep Brine per day, perfect for research and upgrades like the Water Tank and Heart Modules, which boost your health.

Deep Brine isn’t just for upgrades—it’s also needed to craft certain teleporters. Since fast travel isn’t available in the game, teleporters are essential for quick navigation. Be sure to collect Deep Brine early on so you can focus on other materials later without running out.

Here’s the scoop on where to find them and how to grow your own Off Onion supply at the conservatory. Before long, you’ll have a reliable stockpike!

### Where to Find Odd Onions

Unlike most food sources on Rainbow Island, Odd Onions aren’t found in patches across the regions. They’re so rare that they only appear in specific vegetable patches. You might find an Odd Onion among patches of Wet Lettuce, Carrots, or other crops, though the chance is slim.

To increase your odds, head to these regions for possible spawn points:

– Ember Valley
– Powderfall Bluffs
– The Grey Labyrinth

A quick tip: When exploring Ember Valley, you’re more likely to find Multiple patches, with one Onion in each, even close to one another. Keep in mind that only one Onion will spawn per patch at a time. When you spot one of these rare vegetables, grab it and bring it back to your conservatory—especially if you’re working on farming Crystal Slimes.

Since Odd Onions are so uncommon, it’s best to farm Crystal Slimes using easier-to-feed options like Pink Slimes or Bat Slimes rather than risking your precious roots.

### How to Farm Odd Onions

If you want to grow more Odd Onions at the conservatory, set up a small farm plot in an open area. To start growing one, shoot an Odd Onion into the receptacle. But here’s the catch: this method will only produce one guaranteed Onion. The rest of your harvest will be Carrots, with a very low chance of getting more Onions each time.

While this isn’t the fastest or most efficient way to farm vegetables, it’s a useful tactic, especially if you plan to breed Crystal Largo Slimes that eat vegetables. Don’t let the extra Carrots go to waste—they can be useful in other farming or feeding needs.
