As the events unfold in episode five of Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army, Munakata clearly thinks he can just walk away, leaving you to face two of his strongest allies, Abihiko and Nagasunehiko. He reveals his secrets and casually strolls off, putting Raidou Kuzunoha XIV and his demons up against these two sibling shikigami.

This boss fight against Abihiko and Nagasunehiko is intense, with both brothers eager to take you down. Having a balanced set of elemental magic and knowing which sibling to target with each type of magic makes all the difference!

Abihiko and Nagasunehiko’s Location and Weaknesses

Where to Find Nagasunehiko and Abihiko

The adventure continues in chapter five of Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army as you infiltrate a hidden Subterranean Shipping Facility near Harumi-cho on the eastern edge of the Capitol. You can access it by navigating on Big Tarrasque and entering a code provided by one of Tae’s contacts, Sadakichi.

Venture to the lowest floor, encountering numerous elemental Nethergates on your way. You’ll need to persuade an Ippon-Datara to help dispel one of them. Once you’re ready, head towards the bottom floor where you’ll witness a scene involving Kaya and Munakata, followed by a challenging battle as the general wraps up his monologue.

Best Demons for the Battle with Abihiko and Nagasunehiko

Since each brother is vulnerable to opposing elements, you’ll need to strategize your attacks carefully. Abihiko is weak to Cryo magic, so bring Frost Order demons to the battle, while Nagasunehiko is susceptible to Pyro magic, necessitating Pyro Order demons.

However, be mindful that both brothers wield elemental damage as well, putting your Frost and Pyro Order demons at risk during the fight. Gouto frequently advises you to “protect your demons” as strong attacks come your way, especially since the brothers can unleash a devastating combo once their health drops to a critical level. Therefore, ensure your demons have solid Magic and Vitality stats.

Abihiko before he and Nagasunehiko attack in Raidou Remastered The Mystery of the Soulless Army.

To counter this, consider having Raidou use Frost Sigil and Pyro Sigil, which you learned in the game’s first chapter. These skills can help mitigate damage to your demons with conflicting weaknesses in combat.

Additionally, it’s wise to carry demons with healing magic, especially in tough boss fights. While the brothers are manageable, their combined attacks can inflict serious damage. Prioritize healing items and demons capable of healing during battle in case of emergencies.

How to Defeat Nagasunehiko and Abihiko

Nagasunehiko getting excited to battle in Raidou Remastered The Mystery of the Soulless Army.

When the battle kicks off, ensure you have Frost and Pyro Order demons ready to exploit each brother’s elemental vulnerabilities, making it easier to stagger them during the fight. Abihiko and Nagasunehiko are formidable adversaries, so even your strongest demons may struggle. As they each wield powerful magic, stay focused on targeting their fire and ice weaknesses.

If you’re not using Raidou’s Summoner Skills for elemental damage, issue commands to your demons to ensure they’re attacking the correct brother. Abihiko resists fire, while Nagasunehiko is less affected by ice, so avoid wasting your MAG on the wrong one.

Both brothers will occasionally perform a powerful spinning attack called Amatobi. You’ll hear some dialogue before this, giving you a heads-up. They will then embrace and spin wildly across the battlefield, targeting Raidou.

When you see this attack coming, dive out of the way, as it deals Almighty damage that can’t be blocked like regular elemental attacks.

Abihiko calling to use Amatobi in Raidou Remastered The Mystery of the Soulless Army.

The Amatobi attack starts with a wide range but narrows as time passes, increasing your chances of getting hit. During this attack, you can’t damage the brothers. It’s best to go on the defensive, pulling your demons back to keep them safe while waiting for the attack to conclude. Once they separate, continue the fight as before.

Stick to the strategy of dealing elemental damage to crit and stagger the brothers, then follow up with powerful sword combos while keeping an eye out for opportunities to use Devil’s Bane.

Remember, you’ll need to defeat both brothers to finish this challenging boss battle in Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army. It may be best to attack both brothers evenly throughout the encounter.

Abihiko obtaining his brother's powers upon death in Raidou Remastered The Mystery of the Soulless Army.

If one brother falls first, the surviving sibling will inherit their abilities, significantly increasing the challenge of the last stage of the battle. You’ll hear a brief speech about revenge from the remaining brother, who will then ramp up the offense considerably.

While the surviving brother gains the other’s magic attacks, they still retain their elemental weaknesses. For instance, if you defeat Nagasunehiko first, Abihiko will gain his ice magic but remain weak to Pyro moves and can no longer perform Amatobi on his own.

To minimize the fight time with a boosted sibling, try to take down both brothers as close together as possible, distributing your damage evenly. The chapter concludes once the fight is over, so ensure to save Kaya Daidouiji and save your game before proceeding to episode six.

Completing the Puzzle of the Soulless Army

In Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army, it’s often Raidou Kuzunoha XIV’s job to rescue Tae Asakura whenever she goes missing. In Episode Five, she guides you to Kasumidai, the heart of government activities in the country, filled with soldiers and secrets.

Your mission requires you to search for several missing pages of an important document in the Dark Realm version of Kasumidai, all while trying to locate and save Kaya Daidouji. But brace yourself, as the story takes unexpected twists as you delve into the government’s shady operations during this imagined Taisho era.

Solve the Missing Pages Puzzle in Dark Kasumidai

After a scene at the Narumi Detective Agency, accompany Tae to Kasumidai using the streetcar to follow a lead on Kaya Daidouji. Once you arrive, take some time to explore, but your main priority should be finding a soldier with a mole on his face, who is an informant Tae is seeking. He’s rumored to be located in the northern part near the Guard Box, but you’ll encounter soldiers blocking your path.

To proceed, you’ll need to distract the guards near the entrance, as Raidou needs a way to search for clues. Keep an eye out for useful items hidden throughout Kasumidai’s expansive map that can enhance your gameplay in Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army. Once you’ve gathered what you can, ask the soldiers near the left building for a hint.

They’ll mention that guard shifts change with the cannon’s shot, which is the very cannon you passed on your way with Tae. You’ll need to have a Pyro Order demon use Ignite on the cannon to trigger the guard shift, allowing Raidou to sneak closer to the Guard Box. Speak to the soldier you find there, then return to Tae. Make sure to interact with the item on the ground in this now-empty area to retrieve Tae’s camera.

Raidou developing Tae's film in Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army.

Gouto recommends you visit Kounno-ya to get help developing the film for clues, so take the streetcar to Kounno-ya to speak with the elderly owner. He’s willing to assist but will charge you ¥3,000. If you’re short on cash, sell some items from the shop menu, and then pay for the film development. It’ll be revealed that Tae is in the Dark Realm, so head back to the Nameless Shrine to perform the Ritual of Entry and access Dark Kasumidai in search of Tae.

In the Dark Kasumidai, you’ll meet Sadakichi, the soldier with a mole, who is standing by an unconscious Tae. He mentions he is missing some pages of a document he wanted to share with Tae to expose the government’s activities at Kasumidai, but the pages are lost. Now, it’s up to Raidou to search the area for eight missing pages.

You can get assistance from two zombie officers: the one on the left will provide hints about pages five through eight, while the one on the right covers the first four pages. Additionally, a nearby demon skull can indicate how many pages you still need to find. Once you get the locations, head to the marked spots on the map to investigate and find the pages.

In the northeastern corner; have a flying demon do a Solo Investigation to get a page from a tree.

    8

Speak with the left zombie officer; have a demon with Use Force slap him to earn a missing page after a brawl outside the Diet Building.

Once you collect all the pages, talk to Sadakichi in the center of the area, but remember to save your game first, as you’ll soon face a mini-boss battle against Nebiros. After defeating the mini-boss, find out your next target: Cannon Battery Number Four, located not far from the port in Harumi-cho. Make note of the code Sadakichi gives you—49399221—since you’ll need it shortly.

Infiltrate the Shipping Center to Rescue Kaya Daidouji

Kaya Daidouji with a bandana in Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army.

You might be tempted to summon Big Tarrasque from a dock in Kasumidai, but military blockades will prevent that. Instead, take the streetcar to Harumi-cho, where you can summon Big Tarrasque from the port, just as you did in the last episode. Then, head south to locate a small island with Cannon Battery Number Four.

When you arrive, enter Sadakichi’s code (49399221) into the telephone booth to gain access to the Subterranean Shipping Facility. As you navigate through the basement, be prepared to confront Fire, Ice, and Electric Nethergates. You can battle or confine any new demons you find in this area, but beware—the Volt Nethergate regenerates. To find the demon creating this barrier, take the nearby stairs.

To persuade this clumsy Ippon-Datara to remove the regeneration feature from the Volt Nethergate, you’ll need to negotiate with Ippon-Datara, just like you did with Big Tarrasque in a previous encounter in Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army.

    Here’s how the negotiation goes:

    • Offer the item or cash that Ippon-Datara requests.
    • Agree to provide the second item or cash amount as well.
    • Finally, select “You’re stupid” when prompted.

Once the demon agrees to break the barrier, return a level up to where the regenerating Nethergate once stood. Now, take the ladder on the other side that was previously inaccessible. Here, you’ll find additional Nethergates, but these require you to disspell three individual Bullet Nethergates one at a time. Have your demons ready and aim at the Nethergate faces to clear each one.

Ahead, you can collect a trio of free items and save your game at the Dragon’s Fount at the bottom of a large staircase. However, climbing those stairs and attempting to save Kaya, who you’ll see on stage, triggers the boss battle against Abihiko and Nagasunehiko for Episode Five.

Rasputin has been a persistent challenge throughout every episode of Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army, and now, at the conclusion of chapter four, it’s time for a showdown. Make your way to the Catholic church in Harumi-cho with the aid of Big Tarrasque and locate Elfman to kick off this pivotal battle.

As you prepare for this boss fight against Rasputin and his army of mechanized matryoshka dolls, equip yourself with powerful Volt Order demons to ensure you’re ready to endure his attacks.

    Monk Rasputin: Location and Affinities

    How to Find Rasputin

Your encounter with Rasputin will unfold at the end of Episode Four in Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army. After rescuing the missing sailors in Dark Harumi-cho, speaking with the Ryugu owner, and enlisting Big Tarrasque from Daidouji Manor’s basement, you’re ready for the next step.

Return to the port in Harumi-cho and sail to the Catholic church north of town on Big Tarrasque. Locate Elfman’s spirit in the Foreigner’s Cemetery, and then head back to the ruins of the Catholic Church. An outside Dragon’s Fount offers a chance to save your game before the confrontation, so take advantage of that or visit the Goumaden to prepare your best demons for the Rasputin battle. Once you open the church door, be prepared for the fight that follows a cutscene with Rasputin.

Best Demons for the Rasputin Battle in Episode Four

The matryoshka dolls are not as threatening as Rasputin himself, so highlight his weakness to Electric magic and consider bringing your strongest Volt Order demons.

At this stage in the game, Oroboguruma should be one of your top choices, so visit the Goumaden and review your Devil Chart for the best options to strengthen your team before facing Rasputin in Episode Four of Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army.

Another tactic is to equip Volt Sigil through Raidou’s Summoner Skills. If you’ve been actively working on your Sword Alchemy at the Goumaden, you should have a variety of new Combat Skills and Sword Skills available, so make sure to set up Raidou’s skills before the battle.

Rasputin taunts Raidou at the Catholic church in Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army.

Expect to take some considerable damage during the later stages of the fight against Rasputin, as one of his final moves will deal Almighty damage—an attack type that you can’t defend against. This means Raidou and the other demons will likely take hits, so it’s wise to include a healing demon with support skills like Dia or Diarama.

Before the battle, drop by the Goumaden to stock up on healing items. Although items may be pricey in Episode Four, if you find yourself short, this is a good option. Any demons with the Scavenger skill are also useful in gathering healing items while you navigate the overworld in Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army.

How to Defeat Rasputin and His Matryoshka Dolls

Rasputin after being defeated in the boss fight of Chapter Four in Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army.

The battle begins right after a cutscene featuring Rasputin. He’s been a looming threat throughout the story, and now he’s here, not to mention the matryoshka dolls he summons into battle. One of Rasputin’s most dangerous abilities is his power to call forth massive matryoshka dolls that will instantly attack Raidou Kuzunoha XIV.

When these dolls come forth, Rasputin leaps into one of them. While dealing with the dolls is crucial, your main focus should be on attacking the specific doll Rasputin occupies. The dolls will move around the battlefield, similar to the classic matryoshka puzzlers, but ensure you concentrate your efforts on the doll containing Rasputin. Once you deplete this doll’s health, Rasputin will be knocked out.

When that happens, unleash your Volt Order demons if you haven’t already; Rasputin is vulnerable to electric magic. Keep in mind that electric attacks might even stun enemies, so have Raidou and his demons unleash the electric magic while Rasputin is defenseless. He’ll also be summoning the dolls to attack again, which adds an extra level of complexity to this boss fight in Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army.

Although you can destroy the matryoshka dolls, your primary target here is Monk Rasputin. So, stay focused on him during the encounter. Your demons may chase after the dolls if left unattended, but with Volt Sigil activated, you can deliver significant hits to Rasputin yourself. Keep up this strategy, chip away at his health, and direct your demons back for protection when the dolls grow aggressive.

Rasputin prepares for his ultimate attacks in Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army.

After Rasputin loses about half of his health, he will unleash his trump card: Megido, an attack dealing Almighty damage to nearby enemies that cannot be defended against. This is an excellent moment to switch to ranged attacks, allowing you to maintain distance from Rasputin and avoid this devastating move.

Additionally, he has another overwhelming attack called Trailing Death, which lets him swiftly close gaps and can inflict significant damage on both Raidou and his demons. Luckily, Rasputin often announces this move with a sassy line beforehand.

If you’re confident in your blocking skills, now’s the time to show them off. However, the better strategy is to dodge this attack altogether to avoid taking unnecessary damage.

This battle requires both offense and defense, so keep a close watch on your health. Be ready to summon new demons if your current companions fall. You can heal and revive using items from the inventory menu during the battle as long as Raidou still has health, so act quickly and stay alert. Maintain this dynamic while putting pressure on Rasputin’s health to wrap up this boss fight, uncover crucial secrets, and complete Episode Four of Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army.

  • Completing the Mystery of the Soulless Army: Solving the Enigma

Completing the Mystery of the Soulless Army: Solving the Enigma

You’ve spent generous time getting to know the owner of Kounno-Ya, but now it’s time to assist him in ensuring his shipments reach their destination on schedule in the fourth episode of Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army. Rasputin and his associates are determined to disrupt the shipping port in Harumi-Cho.

This episode is one of the lengthier ones in the game, filled with puzzles to tackle and foes to defeat. As you strive to return the shipments to Harumi-Cho, you’ll acquire several new abilities.

    Discovering Shipment Issues in Harumi-Cho

At the start of this chapter, you’ll learn that the owner of Kounno-Ya, a general goods store located near the Narumi Detective Agency, is facing difficulties getting his goods from the Harumi-Cho port. Narumi sends Raidou Kuzunoha XIV to gather more details. It’s worth noting that items at Kounno-Ya are priced higher due to the shipping troubles, so use your Scavenger demons to manage your inventory wisely.

Make sure to finish any tasks in Tsukudo-Cho before taking the streetcar to Harumi-Cho, a new area you unlock after speaking with Narumi. There’s a lot to explore, so take your time to discover hidden treasures on the ground and chat with various locals in the Harumi-Cho area. Eventually, head north to meet with the owner of Ryugu, who is also waiting for her supplies.

When you speak with the owner of Ryugu, ensure you ask all the questions available to get a comprehensive understanding of the situation in Harumi-Cho. After gathering information, return to the Narumi Detective Agency in Tsukudo-Cho to discuss the case with Narumi. He mentions that the Yakuza boss might have more information, so when you’re ready, take the streetcar to Fukagawa-Cho and revisit the bathhouse.

    Investigating Dark Harumi-Cho

When you arrive in Dark Harumi-Cho, you’ll immediately witness a sailor under attack by a group of Anzu. Jump in to assist and prepare for a fight. Throughout this segment, you’ll encounter multiple Anzu, so it’s smart to bring a strong Volt Order demon to help in the battles.

Alternatively, you can use Raidou himself to fill any elemental gaps, as your Summoner Skills allow you to cover the four basic elements. Equip Raidou with the Volt Skill and unleash electrical damage every few seconds. Don’t forget, there’s a Dragon’s Fount just inside Dark Harumi-Cho if you need to recharge.

Once the battle concludes, the sailor mentions that two others are missing after their group was attacked. Proceed south across the narrow bridge and use the ladder on your left to descend to the water level. Here, you’ll find an Aril Rift in the real world, but it’s also a key puzzle spot in the Dark Realm version of Harumi-Cho.

To save the next sailor, you’ll need to freeze the water next to the lower platform. Use a Frost Order demon that knows Cool Down to create a path. Once the water is frozen, walk out onto the ice and cross to another ladder, and get ready for the second of three major battles against Anzu in this area.

    Finding Access to the Church

After clearing the battle with Triglav in Dark Harumi-Cho, return to the normal world and head back to Harumi-Cho to speak with the owner of Ryugu again. She’ll hand you the Ring of Memories, which you should keep as a key item. Discuss with Gouto-Douji how to access the Catholic church since the usual bridge is out of commission.

To solve this, you need to recruit Big Tarrasque to help you traverse all bodies of water in the game. Head back to Daidouji Manor and go to the basement to negotiate with Big Tarrasque. Make sure you bring enough yen because he’s a bit demanding. You’ll need to:

    1. Pay 100 yen.
    2. Follow up with 300 yen, for a total of 400.
    3. Pay an additional 500 yen, bringing your total to 900.
    4. Refuse to pay 1,000 yen.
    5. Scold Big Tarrasque if he becomes threatening.

    Wrapping Up the Chapter

After your negotiations succeed, Big Tarrasque rewards you with the Flute of Rhone. This item allows you to summon him to any port in the Capital, unlocking access to hidden locales and treasures. Notice the blue dots on your overworld map? Those are Big Tarrasque ports, and summoning him will allow you to explore new areas.

Use this ability to sail back to the Harumi-Cho port and make your way to the Catholic church. After passing through, visit the Foreigner’s Cemetery and engage with the ghost. Choose "Suggest Elfman" and "Show Ring of Memories" when prompted, and Elfman will provide you with vital information regarding Rasputin, the man impersonating him.

Prepare for the boss battle in this episode against Rasputin, and the chapter concludes once you defeat Monk Rasputin.

  • Completing the Enigma of the Soulless Army

Completing the Enigma of the Soulless Army

Chapter three of Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army has been quite a ride, leading up to an epic showdown at Daidouji Factory against the enigmatic Dark Summoner, Rasputin. He summons a powerful demon to battle on his behalf, leaving Raidou and his companions to fight for survival.

The concluding boss fight with Chernobog can be particularly challenging if you’re not ready, but our guide will provide all the information you need to tackle this fierce enemy effectively.

    Chernobog: Location and Affinities

As you navigate the third chapter of Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army, you’ll make your way through a maze inside Daidouji Factory. Along the way, you’ll need to rescue trapped workers and battle terrifying snake demons while collecting three shards to unlock the main door back at the factory.

Before returning to Daidouji Factory, consider backtracking to the central area of the puzzle. You can do this by interacting with one of the matryoshka dolls located between the two rows of three. This area is near a Dragon’s Fount, which allows you to save your progress and head to the Goumaden for fusion and recording of new demons, including Nakisawame’s Tears. This item allows you to heal Raidou and his companions back to full health without any cost.

While you’re at the Goumaden, think about which demons you want to bring into the Chernobog boss fight in chapter three. It’s essential to check Chernobog’s affinity chart to make informed decisions.

    Chernobog Affinity Chart

Since Chernobog is weak against Pyro Order magic, attacking it this way can be tricky. Many of your strongest Pyro Order familiars have their own weakness to ice, which Chernobog exploits during the fight. To counteract Chernobog’s heavy ice attacks, consider using a Cryo Order demon during this encounter.

Raidou with Frost, Pyro, and Volt Sign in Raidou Remastered The Mystery of the Soulless Army.

By this stage in the game, there are plenty of powerful demons available for fusion in the Goumaden, as well as multiple Jack Frost demons you can capture in Daidoji Factory and the Training Hall.

Cryo Order shikigami can typically neutralize Cryo Order magic attacks, which makes many of Chernobog’s strongest moves ineffective against them. While you may still be affected by status ailments, preventing HP drain is a key strategy. Also, ensure that you have Raidou’s Pyro Skill equipped in your Sword Skills slots on the main menu. Although your Pyro Order demons may take extra damage from Chernobog’s ice attacks, Raidou himself will not.

    How to Defeat Chernobog

Raidou beating Chernobog in Raidou Remastered The Mystery of the Soulless Army.

After you’ve completed the labyrinth puzzle and healed up, return to the main area of Daidouji Factory. Use the crystals you collected to unlock the door at the back of the matryoshka puzzle. Inside, a cutscene with Kiyoshi Daidouji and Rasputin unfolds, where Rasputin, fatigued from Raidou’s pursuit, summons a Chernobog demon for you to fight before escaping.

The Chernobog battle might take some time, as the real Chernobog will initially refrain from fighting directly. Instead, it summons copies of itself with lower HP to test your skills against Raidou Kuzunoha XIV and his companions. You will have to battle eight fake Chernobog copies at the start. Although these copies can use powerful ice magic, they only have the three-way spread version, allowing you to dodge as Raidou to counterattack with your sword magic.

Pay attention to your Spirit Slash, as this powerful move can often eliminate an entire wave of the fake Chernobog enemies in one hit. Devil’s Bane is likewise useful; listen for Gouto’s cues and watch for on-screen prompts to execute attacks on anything close to defeat.

Chernobog taunting Raidou with Ghoul and Anzu in the background in Raidou Remastered The Mystery of the Soulless Army.

The fake Chernobogs attack Raidou in waves. In the first wave, you’ll face two copies, followed by two more waves, each comprising three fakes. You’ll need to defeat all eight before the final confrontation with Chernobog.

Once you’ve managed to outsmart the eight fakes, the real Chernobog will join the fight, and this portion is more challenging. Unlike the fake versions, the real one wields powerful ice magic, including Mabufudyne, which deals substantial ice damage over a wider area. Expect this boss to have triple the HP of its copies.

If you’re having difficulties tackling the real Chernobog with your Pyro Order demons, given their shared weaknesses, consider switching to a different demon type to conserve health. With the Pyro Skill equipped on Raidou for this fight, you can alternate between offensive moves with your demons while using Raidou’s attacks to exploit Chernobog’s fire magic susceptibility.

Chernobog talking about the capital zombies in Raidou Remastered The Mystery of the Soulless Army.

If your demons can withstand ice while still landing strong physical attacks, Raidou can exploit Chernobog’s weakness to fire magic with his Pyro Skill. This strategy allows your demons to join in and inflict physical damage, ultimately leading to the defeat of Chernobog in the third chapter of Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army.

Unlike most demons, Chernobog becomes available for fusion in the Goumaden immediately after this battle.

Your first major boss battle in Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army occurs at Daidouji Manor, where you’ll face off against the formidable swordsman, Ichimokuren. You’re still in the dark about the bigger mystery, but it’s time for some action!

Returning to Daidouji Manor after your adventure in the Dark version of Tsukudo-cho will trigger this encounter. Be sure to have your strongest demons ready as you prepare to delve deeper into the Daidouji family saga.

    Ichimokuren: Location and Affinities

After uncovering the secret hidden in the basement of the Daidouji residence, you’ll also have to face a challenging battle against the Gashadokuro and its allies. Once you’ve triumphed, make sure to heal up using available items or at the Goumaden, which you can access via Dragon’s Fount near the basement entrance.

Next, head back to the Narumi Detective Agency for a brief conversation, and then prepare to revisit Daidouji Manor. Before heading back, consider the following preparations for the impending battle:

    • Visit Kounno-ya to gather any necessary items. This will keep Raidou Kuzunoha XIV and his companions in good shape and provide plenty of MAG to keep attacking the boss. Stock up on Medicines and Anti-Dizzy items for the fight ahead.
    • Go down into the Goumaden to update your Devil Chart with any newly discovered devils and fuse together powerful familiars. Pay special attention to Volt Order Demons for this battle, but you can also begin to fuse your first Elemental Order demons at this stage.

It’s generally wise to have a mix of elemental damage at your disposal, but combining an Elemental Order Demon with an existing Volt Order Demon can help you create a stronger Volt Order demon for this upcoming challenge.

For this duel, we suggest summoning a powerful Volt Order demon like Raiju, which is one of the strongest options available early in the game. Since Ichimokuren will use support demons in combat, having a Pyro Order demon such as Jack-o’-Lantern or Orthrus will be beneficial.

Even though Ichimokuren nullifies fire spells, it’s essential to keep some Pyro Order magic on hand, as the support demons he summons will take damage primarily from fire attacks.

    How to Defeat Ichimokuren

Rasputin taunting Raidou at Daidouji Manor before the Ichimokuren fight in Raidou Remastered.

Upon arriving at Daidouji Manor, a brief cutscene will play before you’re locked into the battle. Rasputin stands in your way, unwilling to let Raidou pursue Kiyoshi Daidouji, who has recently transformed into the Red Cape. To stop you, he summons the fearsome Ichimokuren.

As noted in the affinity chart, Ichimokuren is weak to electric magic, so make sure to summon your strongest Volt Order demons for this encounter. You can adjust your battle setup anytime in the pause menu, or summon fresh demons from Raidou’s tubes during the fight. The game will even highlight which demons will be most effective!

A crucial point to remember is that you cannot attack Ichimokuren immediately, as it is immune to damage while its eye is closed. At the start of the fight, Ichimokuren will close its eye and summon two Turdak that you must defeat first.

The Turdak are weak to both Force and Pyro, so deploy any demons with fire magic and use Raidou’s swift sword maneuvers. Since you can’t harm Ichimokuren yet, focus on taking down the Turdak first.

    Ichimokuren affinities in Raidou Remastered.

Once you defeat the Turdak, Ichimokuren will reopen its eye, allowing you to inflict damage. Utilize Volt Order demons while its eye is open, exploiting its weakness and staggering it, which enables Raidou to land several powerful strikes. Use lighter sword attacks to replenish your MAG as needed, but this is the perfect moment for heavy attacks, as Ichimokuren will not be vulnerable for long.

When Ichimokuren’s eye closes again, it will summon another pair of Turdak before it can be attacked once more. This cycle will repeat until Ichimokuren has about a quarter of its health remaining.

At this stage, it will not only call forth another pair of Turdak but will also switch to offensive tactics. The tentacles become especially dangerous, offering Ichimokuren a significant range. The Tentacle Whip deals physical damage and may inflict Dizzy on Raidou or his allies, so watch everyone’s status closely.

Ichimokuren speaking to Raidou in Raidou Remastered.

If you don’t have a demon that knows Patra to cure Dizzy costs some of your MAG, consider keeping some Anti-Dizzy items in your inventory. You can get these from Kounno-ya throughout the game. Since you’ll face various status ailments, chat with the old man to see his latest stock – he updates it between chapters, so replenishing your supplies is a good idea.

As the battle enters its final phase, where Ichimokuren is actively attacking, you can concentrate on taking it down. You don’t need to finish off the last Turdak pair if Ichimokuren is nearing defeat. Instead, let your demons handle them while you dodge the Tentacle Whip and get up close, using your Volt Skills to exploit its weakness until you secure the win.

Completing the Enigma of the Soulless Army: A Solving Journey

Sure! Here’s a rewritten version of the content in American English without the common terms you specified:

As you delve into the eerie tale of Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army, keep an eye on the icon in the upper corner of your screen that tracks the moon’s phase. While it may not always play a direct role in the narrative, there are certainly ways to make the most of it!

Whether you’re using the moon phases in Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army to achieve powerful fusions with Victor at the Goumaden or heading over to Ginza-cho for a visit to Shin-Sekai, staying mindful of the moon is beneficial.

Utilize the Moon for Stat Boosts and Better Fusions

Throughout your journey, the moon phase in the top corner of your screen will change, but it’s worth noting that this system is not based on real time like in other games. In fact, moving between different areas in the Capitol alters the moon phase.

For instance, when you exit the Narumi Detective Agency and head to Kounno-ya, that transition triggers a change in the moon’s phase, which you’ll notice during a camera angle shift. If you leave Raidou standing still on a specific screen, time won’t progress, so you’ll need to do some walking to see updates.

If you want to quickly advance the time, it’s best to enter and exit neighboring screens to keep altering the moon phase—this can be crucial for story developments at certain points in the game.

Demonstrate: A Skill Based on the Moon

When you join forces with a Skill Order demon, expect them to have the Passive Skill of Demonstrate. This aligns with the moon phases, providing various effects. You might see HP and MAG boosts, transmutation of an item in your inventory, or even earn some yen.

As you continue, you’ll collect several demons with valuable Passive Skills. Be on the lookout for Scavenger and Loose Change, which can help you acquire items and money while exploring. Full Moons yield greater yen rewards and better items from demons with Scavenger. Re-summon a familiar according to the lunar phase to optimize your gains!

Visit Shin-Sekai During New Moons to Gain Power

Once you unlock Ginza-cho in the second chapter, don’t forget to visit Shin-Sekai, a soda shop located in the northern part of the city, easily accessible via the streetcar and fast travel system. Here, you can chat with other patrons for helpful hints on devil summoning, read the latest news, and, importantly, purchase sodas to temporarily increase Raidou’s stats.

Once you can reach the soda fountain, several beverages will be available. For a small cost, you can enhance Raidou’s stats until the next full moon. If you time your visit with a new moon—especially before a major boss fight—it’s a wise move to check out what sodas will help boost Raidou Kuzunoha XIV’s abilities in battle.

The drinks offered focus on specific stats such as Strength, Magic, Vitality, and Luck. Buying more sodas also opens up access to unique recipes from the owner, so the more you buy, the better your options become.

    The Goumaden and Fusion Accidents

Lastly, you’ll notice an uptick in fusion accidents during certain lunar phases. Both New and Full Moons increase the likelihood of not getting the intended devil in the fusion process. Additionally, the demon you do acquire will have enhanced stats compared to regular fusion methods—a common feature in Atlus JRPGs.

You’ve probably encountered a Mitama Order devil during your playthrough. During a Full Moon, the effects of Mitama fusions improve as well, so take advantage of this free boost. Just be cautious, as things might not go as planned, leading to a boost for a different demon than you intended to fuse.

Let me know if you need any other changes!

  • Completing the Enigma of the Soulless Arm: A Solving Journey

Completing the Enigma of the Soulless Arm: A Solving Journey

Mastering combat in Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army involves learning a lot, but you’ll pick up upgrades and abilities that will help Raidou Kuzunoha XIV become an exceptional swordsman.

As Raidou follows up your demons’ magical attacks with his sword, make sure to visit the Goumaden frequently to see if there are new Sword Alchemy opportunities available. Victor provides several impressive ways to upgrade your weapon in Raidou Remastered, but you’ll need the right materials to do so.

    How to Upgrade Raidou’s Weapon

In the second act of the game, Raidou will have a quick scene with Narumi and Tae Asakura back at the Agency’s headquarters before kicking off the next chapter. However, Gouto will let you know that there’s a letter from Yatagarasu. This letter offers several key features:

    • Wind Blade: a sword skill that allows Raidou to use Wind magic, much like the Pyro, Frost, and Volt Skills that you probably relied on in the first chapter.
    • The option to change your title as you see fit, with many nickname options for Raidou to choose from.
    • Notice that Sword Alchemy is now unlocked at the Goumaden.

Gouto emphasizes the importance of Sword Alchemy, so it’s best to head to the Goumaden before proceeding to talk to Ryugu’s owner in Ginza-cho. Victor will give you a brief overview and more advice if as needed, but he recommends you focus on fusing new weapons for Raidou at the Goumaden.

Throughout the first chapter, you likely collected purple fusion materials as battle rewards—items that might have seemed confusing at the time. Make sure you stock up on these unique fusion materials to craft the most powerful weapons in Raidou Remastered.

Victor provides an upgrade tree for swords, spears, and battle axes. Each weapon category focuses on different stats when fused, impacting Raidou’s performance in combat. Additionally, fusing new weapons also enables you to learn new sword skills, adding more complexity to your choices.

There’s no definitive “best” weapon class for Raidou, but it’s wise to choose upgrades that enhance the stats that align with your playstyle. If you often find yourself low on HP, look for weapons that boost Vitality rather than offensive stats like Strength or Magic.

When a weapon provides a new skill, you’ll see this new ability and can adjust Raidou’s load-out before returning to the Goumaden.

It’s worth noting that you need to unlock each weapon progressively to access the next ones in Victor’s upgrade path. For instance, you can’t fuse the second sword, the Kotetsu, without first upgrading the Bizen-Osafune, as you’ll need the previous weapon as a fusion material.

The boosts to your stats are cumulative. For example, the Kotetsu adds two Magic points while the Bizen-Osafune contributes one, so upgrading to the Kotetsu increases your Magic stat to plus-two instead of adding two to your existing score.

Victor in the Goumaden in Raidou Remastered.

There are various methods to rid your team of status ailments in Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army. Here are a few strategies:

    • Use Skill Order demons to apply support skills that heal statuses. Many abilities can cure multiple ailments at once, such as Patra.

      • Consider training demons from other orders to learn these skills, allowing you to combine offensive and defensive actions effectively. Victor at the Goumaden can assist you with this.
    • Utilize items during battles. You can purchase items targeting specific ailments or invest in all-purpose items that heal all statuses.

      • Kounno-ya is a reliable source for these items. You can also find them as loot from demons in the overworld or by capturing new demons during battles.
    • Heal your team by stopping by locations like the Goumaden, Narumi Detective Agency, and Nakisawame as you explore the Dark World.

Demons that have fallen in battle can be revived outside of combat, so make sure to use your items from the Command menu often if one drops, especially if they’ve been crucial for your progress.

Solving the Mystery of the Soulless Army vs. the Original

If you’re a fan of Atlus and their extensive lineup of JRPGs from the Shin Megami Tensei series, get excited for a modern remake of a beloved classic: welcome back, Raidou Kuzunoha XIV, in Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army.

The original game, Devil Summoner: Raidou Kuzunoha vs. The Soulless Army, debuted in 2006, and with the 2025 remake now available, how much time are you willing to invest in the iconic black cape of Raidou Kuzunoha? Prepare to dive into the Dark Realm, summon demons, rescue schoolgirls, and unravel a captivating supernatural mystery.

How Long Is Raidou Remastered Compared to the Original?

If you’re jumping into Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army from other Atlus titles, you already know that these SMT games can demand many hours of gameplay. You’ll face challenging bosses, fuse demons, and solve intriguing puzzles.

Your playtime can vary based on how much you explore additional quests or focus on demon fusion, but for the main storyline, you can expect to spend approximately 25 hours on this investigation. And that’s just for the core narrative—all sorts of new activities are included to extend your playtime:

    • Over 120 demons are available for fusion and logging in your Devil Chart. Some of these demons require recruitment before you can fuse them; you’ll need to show you’re worthy of their unique powers.

    • Case Files offer side quests filled with small puzzles that will take you around the Capital, helping people and even animals as you tackle their needs.

    • Purging Aril Rifts allows for combat practice between chapters. The left inari statue at the Nameless Shrine provides rewards for completing these rifts, granting plenty of experience points, cash, and items, making them worthwhile every time.

    • Using the Training Hall helps you gain extra experience if you’re looking for that final boost between story segments and don’t have any grimoires handy.

As a faithful remake of the 2006 classic, Raidou Remastered holds true to its roots, yet benefits from several quality-of-life improvements that enhance gameplay. The new features extend the playtime while keeping it comparable to the original. Devil Summoner: Raidou Kuzunoha vs. The Soulless Army is noted on HowLongToBeat.com as taking about 24 hours for the main storyline, with a completionist run estimated at 57 hours.

  • Completing the Puzzle of the Soulless Army

Completing the Puzzle of the Soulless Army

In Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army, you’ll have the opportunity to craft a variety of unique demons for Raidou to utilize in the Goumaden. You’ll also be capturing numerous devils to use as fusion materials. While some demons may not naturally learn specific skills, that doesn’t mean they can’t acquire them.

By collecting various skill books as rewards from different quests, you can enhance your companions’ abilities. You can teach them new skills between story missions and even pass down skills they have already mastered.

    How to Use Skill Books

When you take on the role of Raidou Kuzunoha, each demon you confine or fuse will possess a unique set of innate skills and attacks that are determined by its Demon Order and level progression. However, there are effective strategies to equip your support demons with new skills, which can prove invaluable during battles.

In addition to leveling up or fusing your demons in different ways with Victor at the Goumaden, Raidou can use skill books from his inventory to teach demons new abilities. This can be done at any time through the main menu, including while in the Dark Realm, though not during actual combat.

When you utilize a skill book, you can access a variety of moves, such as:

    • Elemental skills: A great way to diversify a single demon’s abilities.
    • Physical attacks: Useful for conserving MAG usage during battles.
    • Healing magic: Essential for keeping your team in fighting shape.
    • Passive skills: Provide immediate stat boosts or other advantages when entering combat.

When teaching a demon a new move using a skill book, it will progress through three stages of learning. The initial step is simple: after the first study session, the demon can execute the move.

However, you’ll need to wait until the demon reaches level two in skill mastery before it can pass this skill along during fusion. This is important if you’re planning to get inventive with fusions.

You’ll notice a skill mastery system displayed with each ability on a demon’s information page. This mastery is influenced by the demon’s Order and how it aligns with the move’s Order in the skill book, as well as the number of study sessions required for each skill. Some skills are more complex and demand more time to learn.

    Where to Get Skill Books

There are several ways to obtain skill books in Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army. One primary method is through rewards for confining demons during battles. Even if your capacity is full, demons often drop skill books as loot if you attempt to confine them.

During your adventure, you will also be working to maximize a demon’s Loyalty to Raidou. When this occurs, they may provide a combat boost, such as replenishing HP or MAG, and often reward you with a skill book for a skill they already know.

Engaging in optional side missions will also yield skill books as rewards. Completing tasks like purging Arial Rifts or addressing Case Files between major chapters is a great way to gather additional skill books while taking breaks from the main storyline.

Lastly, you can purchase specific skill books from Kounno-ya, located on the eastern side of Tsukubu-cho, where you access the Goumaden and stock up on items. This shop offers a selection of healing items and a few basic skill books, which can be especially useful for demons that can’t learn certain elemental skills naturally.

Completing the Mystery of the Soulless Army

After completing your trial to officially become Raidou Kuzunoha the 14th in Raidou Remastered: The Mystery Of The Soulless Army, you’ll dive into the first chapter where your mission is to rescue a kidnapped schoolgirl from the Dark Realm and uncover the curse hidden in the basement of Daidouji Manor.

Venturing into the Dark Realm for the first time is no easy task, but it’s a great chance to capture early-game demons, explore the Goumaden, and get acquainted with various side quests in Raidou Remastered: The Mystery Of The Soulless Army.

    Step Into the Dark Realm

Once you step out into 1930s Tokyo after your initial tutorial, you should take time to explore the area and interact with the locals. Your two companions, Alp and Ukobach, will be helpful with their Investigation Skills.

Explore the town after leaving the academy, but make sure to head to the Ushigome-Gaeri Bridge and discuss your recent assignment with your colleague. Use the Ignite ability on them to dig deeper into the case, leading you to Daidouji Manor. Then, hop on the streetcar to reach your destination.

At the manor, you’ll converse with various staff members who will try to prevent you from entering certain rooms. However, you’ll learn how to send a demon on an individual investigation from the menu to check out areas that are off-limits for Raidou. Have Alp check out the study on the first floor to retrieve a photo from a shelf.

There are plenty of hidden treasures to discover by letting your familiars explore extra rooms. They’ll search storage spaces and might uncover useful items, making it worthwhile to check as you go.

After this section of the investigation, head north to Kamishiro-zaka to chat with some schoolgirls at the intersection about their missing friend. Use your Investigation Skills to guide your conversation.

The girls will tell you about Rin’s recent meetings with someone. When you find Rin down an alleyway east of Fujiko Parlor and follow her to a secluded spot, she gets kidnapped and taken into the Dark Realm. It’s now up to Raidou to follow and save her.

    Capturing Demons and Leveling Up

Your first trip into the Dark Realm offers much to discover, which can feel overwhelming if you’re new to the game. However, right near the entrance, there are key elements to learn for success in Raidou Remastered: The Mystery Of The Soulless Army.

Finding a photo of Kaya in Raidou Remastered The Mystery of the Soulless Army.

    Key points include:

    • Dragon’s Founts allow you to save your game in the Dark Realm and unlock access to the Goumaden as you progress.
    • Nakisawame provides free healing for you and your team. Make use of this often!

After saving and healing, you’ll face demons that emerge during your exploration of Dark Tsukudo-cho. A variety of them are lurking about, but initially, you’ll be limited in the number of demons you can capture.

Fortunately, as your level rises, you’ll acquire more tubes, allowing you to use the demons you’ve captured to help grind for experience (EXP). Explore Dark Tsukudo-cho to collect loot, which is typically marked on your map with a small crystal shape. Keep in mind that demons with the Investigate skill can find items while following you.

Feel free to explore and grind to your heart’s content, but be aware of the barrier that blocks your access to the area near Tamonten Shrine, indicating that you’ll need to navigate around through the Karukogawa Shopping District.

Raidou learning Pyro Sign in Raidou Remastered The Mystery of the Soulless Army.

In this area, you’ll encounter a trio of Obariyons discussing what it means to be a demon summoner, warning you of a strong demon awaiting you ahead. As you approach the Narumi Detective Agency, the demons will attack, leading to a battle where you can easily win by using Pyro Order.

The Obariyons are vulnerable to Cryo and Wind magic, so summon the appropriate familiars to quickly defeat the waves of enemies. After these fights, continue onward, but tread carefully; your next challenge lies ahead.

    Understanding Nethergates

This marks your introduction to Nethergates, which are gates sealed with elemental magic requiring the appropriate magic to break through. For the very first one, you’ll be advised to confine an Agathion before engaging in battle, as this particular Nethergate is weak to Volt Order demons.

Gouto teaching you about Nethergates in Raidou Remastered The Mystery of the Soulless Army.

With your electric magic attacks ready, challenge the Nethergate, and learn how to break elemental shields during combat. After a battle with the gate’s keepers, you’ll move on to the significant boss fight against Tsuchigumo.

This massive demon, located near the gate by the Tamonten Shrine, will discuss Rin before initiating an epic boss battle, marking your exit from Dark Tsukudo-cho for the first time.

Exploring the Abyss in Daidouji Manor’s Basement

Speaking to Rin after finishing Dark Tsukudo-cho in Raidou Remastered The Mystery of the Soulless Army.

Explore Tsukudo-cho and Capture Your Demons

Once you’ve returned from the Dark Realm to the regular Tsukudo-cho, it’s time to explore the newly unlocked areas. These include:

    • The Goumaden – the demon fusion feature, where you can combine demons to enhance Raidou’s powers. Visit Kounno-ya to speak with Victor in the basement, where you can register demons and re-summon them while trying out demon fusions.
    • Case Files – optional investigations that often involve solving simple puzzles, giving you various rewards such as skill books, cash, and EXP.
    • Aril Rifts – located near Tamonten Shrine; Gouto-Doji will recommend addressing these early on. They provide a great opportunity to grind for EXP in the real world between investigations.
Raidou choosing which book you should take at Daidouji Manor in Raidou Remastered The Mystery of the Soulless Army.

Once you’ve fully explored these options, return to Daidouji Manor and chat with the staff again. Navigate to the left path on the first floor to discover a notable study. Use a demon with Investigate ability to find a hidden switch to access the basement.

    Big Tarrasque and Crossing Over

In the basement, you’ll encounter Big Tarrasque, who will request a specific type of alcohol. The staff upstairs informs you that a team member is sent to get the beverage but has yet to return. As a result, head back to Kamishiro-zaka and read the maid’s mind to uncover the situation. Speaking with her reveals you can procure the wine.

Go back to Daidouji Manor, enter the basement, and prepare for a challenging boss fight against Big Tarrasque. The battle will involve leveraging Pyro Order demons for an edge, but it can be difficult without first using the demons outside of Big Tarrasque’s area to grind for EXP.

Once defeated, Big Tarrasque will ask for some Pricey Beer, which you can find in one of the guest rooms on the manor’s second floor. Provide the beverage to Big Tarrasque, and he’ll transport you to the other side of the map in thanks.

Upon reaching the other side, inspect the bookshelf in the cage where you’ll discover Kaya’s Diary hidden within. Read it to learn more about the Daidouji family curse, then return to the living room to converse with Kiyoshi about what you’ve found.

On your way, you’ll encounter demons that were once dolls outside the jail cell, and Gashadokuro will confront you for yet another tough battle. Learning to jump to evade will be crucial for handling this boss fight.

Afterwards, make your way back to the living room to finally discuss the contents of the diary with Kiyoshi and progress in solving the first case in Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army.

Completing the Puzzle: Solving the Mystery of the Soulless Army

Welcome to the Dark Realm in Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army. Your first journey takes you through the shadowy streets of Dark Tsukudo-cho in chapter one. As you navigate these unsettling paths, take some time to level up since you’ll be facing a tough boss battle soon.

Before you can return to the normal world, you must confront Tsuchigumo, the giant demon in the Dark Realm who has kidnapped a local schoolgirl in a ploy to draw you into combat. Here’s a guide to help you defeat Tsuchigumo and rescue Rin!

    How to Defeat Tsuchigumo

Once you’ve fully explored the Dark Tsukudo-cho area in your quest from chapter one, you will face Tsuchigumo after the challenging Nethergate fight, and find Rin unconscious. A brief dialogue occurs before the battle, but Gouto-Doji will interrupt to teach you how to use Devil’s Bane against Tsuchigumo. This can only be done if you:

    • Perfectly evade during the fight, a skill Gouto showed you earlier in the Dark Realm.
    • Unleash a flurry of attacks to throw the demon off-balance.

When Gouto signals that the time is right, unleash your attack on Tsuchigumo. Be prepared for a tough fight, as you’ll now need to take on two Tsuchigumo demons at once, and without a pre-charged Devil’s Bane.

Tsuchigumo Affinities in Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army

    Weaknesses
    • Wind Magic
    • Cryo Magic
    • Force Attacks
    Resistances
    Offensive Moves
    • Electric Magic
    • Poison Ailments

Given these vulnerabilities, your best strategy is to use Azumi for offense, as it’s likely your strongest demon with Frost abilities. You’ll have learned how to make Raidou Kuzunoha use his Cryo Sign attack with his sword from Gouto just before engaging in battle, so make sure to utilize it and execute Cryo Sign as frequently as you can.

For your second slot in the Configuration menu, you can pick any shikigami. We chose Pixie for its healing abilities, but Azumi works as solid backup for Cryo magic.

These Tsuchigumo spiders will put up quite a fight, as you’ll need to break their elemental shields first before you can inflict any damage. Attacking while they still have their shields intact, even with your Cryo spells and Azumi’s help, will deal no damage, so don’t waste any attacks until their shields are down.

Once their shields are offline, you will have a brief window of opportunity where Tsuchigumo is open to your sword strikes. Pay attention to the animation that signals a critical hit and make sure to unleash heavy sword attacks during this time to maximize your damage before the shields regenerate.

Fortunately, Gouto will alert you when Tsuchigumo’s shield is back up; it’s easy to get carried away attacking the demon.

After the fight, Tsuchigumo will fall, revealing little information aside from mentioning a devil summoner who appears to speak Russian. Keep this in mind as you earn ¥200 and a good amount of EXP for defeating Tsuchigumo in Dark Tsukudo-cho in Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army.

  • Completing the Enigma of the Soulless Army

Completing the Enigma of the Soulless Army

Raidou Remastered: The Enigma of the Soulless Army is a game that requires a solid understanding of its combat mechanics. Even with Gouto’s guidance and the Detective Journal to assist you, mastering the art of a Devil Summoner demands some serious commitment and practice.

Raidou Kuzunoha has had his share of years to grasp the intricacies of battling demons in Raidou Remastered: The Enigma of the Soulless Army. However, we’re here to boost your confidence as you unravel the mysteries of the supernatural. Once you get a handle on demon combat, things start to feel a whole lot smoother!

Find a Balance Between Physical and Magical Attacks

In your initial adventure in Raidou Remastered: The Enigma of the Soulless Army, where Raidou officially becomes a Devil Summoner, you gradually learn how to manage the demons that will confront you in battle. However, with everything happening at once in this game, the combat system may take a little time to master!

Unlike other Shin Megami Tensei titles that feature turn-based combat, your characters and demons engage simultaneously with their enemies. You’ll control Raidou, but you can also summon multiple demons to assist you in battle.

In each encounter, the demons you summon will unleash their own set of attacks and skills (which you can review in the Status section of your main menu). This means that your demons can inflict both physical and elemental damage on foes, as well as offer various support or healing options, depending on how you merged them at the Goumaden.

    Raidou Primarily Uses Physical Attacks

Raidou’s main method of attack in Raidou Remastered involves sword strikes. His sword is quite potent, with its power increasing as you progress through the game and acquire new Devil Summoner skills.

    Generally, sword combat involves:

    • Light sword strikes that are quick and deal less damage. Hitting a stunned enemy will refill your MAG for both you and your active demons (more on MAG in a moment).
    • Heavy sword strikes that take longer to execute but cause more damage. When used on stunned opponents, these strikes inflict 150% damage.

If you jump toward an enemy, follow it up with a sword attack to land a solid hit when you descend.

But Raidou isn’t just a close-combat fighter—he also wields a gun for ranged attacks. The ammo reloads slowly when you stop firing. You can aim at a demon to charge a few shots and then fire multiple rounds at once to try and stagger enemies before closing in for melee attacks.

While fighting beside demons, be sure to have them inflict critical elemental damage on your enemies to stun them, allowing you to follow up with more impactful sword strikes or magic replenishment.

Raidou will occasionally gain new sword abilities that enable him to use elemental damage in his sword attacks. You can expect to unlock more as you advance, starting with the capability to deal Pyro damage, keeping you close enough for follow-up attacks against stunned enemies.

Manage and Restore MAG During Fights

As previously mentioned, MAG is the green bar beneath the yellow HP bar that tracks your magic energy, which is vital for your demons’ skills.

Powerful skills consume a lot of MAG, so be mindful of its use during battles. You can purchase items to replenish your MAG meter either during combat or afterward, but much of the restoration will happen in the heat of battle.

    You can recover MAG by:

    • Striking stunned demons with light sword hits, which will restore some MAG with every hit.
    • Executing a Devil’s Bane, highlighted by Gouto, which allows you to deal significant damage while siphoning MAG from your opponent after successful combos.
    • Maxing out demon loyalty as you progress through battles. High loyalty can lead to demons occasionally restoring their own HP or MAG.
    • Visiting Nakisawame while exploring to heal your team without using items.
    • Utilizing items obtained from your explorations or purchased from Kounno-ya in Tsukubo-cho.

If you’re running low on MAG, you can instruct your demons to stop using it during the fight. This way, they will focus on physical attacks until you’re ready to reactivate their skills, enabling healing characters to maintain damage output while you’re at a comfortable HP level.

    Understanding Demon Orders and Skills

Like many Megami Tensei games, elemental magic plays a significant role in Raidou Remastered. While Raidou can learn some elemental attacks through sword skills, you’ll mainly rely on demons for high elemental damage.

When you confine a demon, its Order indicates which elements and skills it can employ in battles. You have the opportunity to create new demons at the Goumaden, but any demon you acquire comes with its Order and skill set, which you can find in your Detective Journal.

There are several main Orders in Raidou Remastered. Any demon with a particular elemental damage type will have this specified in their Order (like Pyro or Cryo), making it easier to identify offensive demons. There are also skill Order demons focused on healing or buffing allies for a more supportive role.

    Master the Affinity System

Familiarizing yourself with the affinity chart in Raidou Remastered will simplify battles significantly. The game will highlight demons that possess useful skills for the current engagement when you adjust your summoned demons. Pay attention to affinities to effectively take down your enemies.

Moreover, your demons have their affinities, which you can learn about from the Detective Journal or the Analyze screen during fights. For example, it’s wise to switch out Cryo Order demons when facing opponents wielding Pyro skills, as the latter can exploit your demons’ weaknesses.

Keep an ear out for Gouto and your demons during battles; they often provide valuable insights on managing current combat situations.
