All Evolution Combos in Ball X Pit: Completing and Solving

Ball x Pit is a roguelike brick-breaking game where the key to success lies in evolving your balls. There are many different combinations of evolutions, and you can fuse certain evolutions to create powerful effects. While there are numerous hidden synergies and potential build strategies, the game doesn’t provide an official list of all evolutions within the game.

Here is a comprehensive list of all the evolutions discovered so far, with detailed descriptions to help you plan your build.

Note: This list has been updated with new evolutions introduced in the latest patch, “The Regal Update,” released on 01/26/2026.

  • Top Ball x Pit Characters: Ranked by Completing and Solving

Top Ball x Pit Characters: Ranked by Completing and Solving

Apart from having numerous balls and passives, Ball x Pit offers many playable characters. These range from an ordinary person to characters that fundamentally change the gameplay, including some that throw balls in unique and surprising ways. The game provides a wide variety to enjoy.

Although the game encourages completing each level with every character, you’ll quickly notice that some characters are much easier and more effective to play than others. Here is a ranking of the strongest characters in Ball x Pit based on their starting balls and perks.

    How Do Tiers Work?

The characters are categorized into tiers based on their strength and effectiveness:

    • Tier S: These are the top-tier characters. They can effortlessly dominate the game, and it’s difficult (or just bad luck) to fail with them.
    • Tier A: Very good characters that are close to S-tier but lack the overpowering qualities.
    • Tier B: Decent characters with some weaknesses that reduce their uniqueness.
    • Tier C: Characters that are not inherently bad but tend to make the game harder or reduce your control over gameplay.

    Tier S

Only three out of the 16 characters in Ball x Pit are classified as Tier S, the strongest options.

    Character Ball Reason
The Makeshift Sisyphus Earthquake Losing your initial balls can be a big disadvantage, but the reward makes up for it. Having a starting 4x multiplier for area damage and status effects is overpowered. With upgrades and combinations, this character becomes unstoppable.
The Shieldbearer Iron It may seem counterintuitive because you need to face enemies directly to maximize its power, but this character delivers massive bounce damage and benefits from a gameplay style reminiscent of Arkanoid. Using it in duos, like with The Itchy Finger, is highly effective.
The Itchy Finger Burn An upgraded version of The Warrior, it’s straightforward to use and reliable, making it a solid choice. Its balanced perks make it a top candidate for success.

    Tier A

These characters are still highly effective and enjoyable to play but do not possess the same overwhelming power as Tier S.

    Character Ball Reason
The Warrior Bleed The most basic character, yet surprisingly powerful. It outperforms some characters with more complex effects. Easy to use with any balls or supporting characters.
The Juggler Lightning Unique shooting style that, once mastered, allows for consistent damage by bouncing balls behind enemies. It’s effective but can struggle against certain boss setups.
The Physicist Light Performs well, especially in carefully controlled fights. However, balls can get stuck, which hampers its performance.
The Repentant Freeze When used correctly, it’s very powerful. Bounces in a game that rewards bouncing can make it nearly overpowered. However, walls can penalize it, and it pairs well with certain characters.

    Tier B

These characters are decent but have some shortcomings or weaknesses that make them less reliable.

    Character Ball Reason
The Embedded Poison Good starting ball with a cool effect similar to Ghost. Losing bounces over time can be a downside unless you upgrade efficiently.
The Tactician Iron Offers a different gameplay style by calculating bounces, but requires good planning. Poor calculations can result in longer runs and less effective play.
The Flagellant Egg Sac When upgraded, particularly with added support like Cell, it can be very effective, especially because it makes all balls bounce from the floor. However, catching balls becomes tougher.
The Cohabitant Brood Mother With double balls, it sounds great, but inverted aim makes gameplay harder and requires practice to master. Better suited with specific support characters.
The Empty Nester Ghost Multiple ghosts can be strong late-game, but starting with many Ghosts is difficult and can be frustrating.

    Tier C

The weakest characters, these can be challenging or less fun and may require more effort to succeed.

    Character Ball Reason
The Cogitator Laser (Vertical) Easy for avoidance or simplicity but takes away from the core challenge of the game. Starting with a Laser might feel like cheating.
The Shade Dark Combos with certain balls and passives could make it strong, but generally, enemies can overwhelm it unless well setup.
The Spendthrift Vampire Some combos could make it useful, especially with duos. Still, playing it solo tends to make the game harder than necessary.
The Radical Wind Poor choice compared to others. It often plays the game for you, which can be useful for AFK runs but isn’t ideal for active gameplay.

The remaining characters in the lower tiers are not inherently bad, but they tend to make winning more difficult or less enjoyable. Their perks might demand more effort or reduce control, making the game harder or less fun to play.

  • Top Balls for Completing Ball x Pit Challenges

Top Balls for Completing Ball x Pit Challenges

If a ball has “Ball” in its name, it usually means there are many of that type. In Ball x Pit, you’ll find a wide variety of balls. You can upgrade your collection by fusing balls to gain new effects or combining two balls to create something different. As you progress in the game, you’ll unlock more options, but you don’t need the rarest balls right at the start to succeed.

This guide focuses on a mix of early-game and later-game balls, including both simple and evolved versions. We won’t cover basic fusions, since the emphasis is on unique balls. Now, let’s look at the top balls in Ball x Pit.

Remember to check your Encyclopedia in the options menu to review all the balls you’ve unlocked so far.

    Light

    Required Balls: None
Effect: Blinds enemies, giving a 50% chance they will miss their attack.

Starting with a simple, easy-to-unlock ball, Light appears after a few stages. No matter which character you use, you might want to always pick Light. Losing some damage power is a small price to pay for the high chance to avoid enemy melee attacks, which can be crucial in many situations.

Note: This effect can save you in tight situations where controlling movement space is difficult.

    Flash

    Required Balls: Light + Lightning
Effect: Damages and blinds all enemies by hitting just one of them.

One of the strongest mid-game evolutions, Flash damages every enemy it hits and blinds them, giving you a huge advantage. Blinding prevents enemies from performing melee attacks about half the time. The effect lasts around three seconds, but if the ball continuously hits enemies and bounces between them, the blind effect can trigger repeatedly, maintaining its benefits.

Tip: Use Flash in crowded fights to control groups and reduce damage taken.

    Hemorrhage

    Required Balls: Bleed + Iron
Effect: Each hit adds three stacks of bleeding. After 12 stacks, it deals 20% of an enemy’s current health as damage.

This ball works well with characters like The Shieldbearer. Position the shield blocking the target and bounce Hemorrhage to build up bleed stacks rapidly. Bosses tend to be the only enemies resistant enough to survive many hits, making Hemorrhage effective for quickly whittling down health.

Tip: Accelerate stacking by focusing on strong damage and positioning for maximum hits.

    Bomb

    Required Balls: Burn + Iron
Effect: Explodes upon hitting an enemy, causing massive area damage.

Bomb is very powerful but requires some setup—since it explodes immediately after a hit and takes a few seconds to return. It’s best when your inventory is full of balls. Its explosion can clear groups easily, and you can fuse it with other balls to extend its effects, increasing area damage and overall power.

Tip: Any element works, but Lightning complements Bomb’s effects well.

    Magma

    Required Balls: Burn + Earthquake
Effect: Spawns lava blobs that apply burn stacks over time, damaging enemies gradually.

Magma is great when you lack Iron. Its blobs slowly damage enemies by adding burn stacks, and every hit also causes earthquake damage, keeping enemies on fire. Combining Magma with other fire damage boosts can create a fiery zone on the battlefield.

Tip: Synchronize passive abilities that amplify fire effects for maximum damage.

    Mosquito King

Required Balls: Brood Mother + Vampire
Effect: Spawns Mosquitoes that drain 1 health point from enemies.

While Vampire offers some health steal early on, it becomes less effective as enemies increase. Mosquito King improves on this, creating small Mosquitoes guaranteed to drain health without relying on chance. It also does decent damage and is useful for sustained damage over many enemies.

Note: It’s a reliable life-stealing option that can build into stronger effects.

    Holy Laser

Required Balls: Laser (Horizontal) + Laser (Vertical)
Effect: Attacks all enemies in the same row and column.

A powerful mid-game evolution. Instead of choosing between horizontal or vertical attacks, you can use both lasers simultaneously. This helps clear multiple enemies from different directions. Combining Holy Laser with other elements can add extra effects for more versatility.

Tip: Perfect for targeting enemies buffing allies, especially in biomes like Fungal x Forest.

    Virus

    Required Balls: Ghost + Poison
Effect: Applies disease stacks that deal damage over six seconds and spread to other enemies upon death.

Virus isn’t my favorite overall, but it’s effective for crowd control. While Ghost can help target specific enemies, it’s less useful against bosses, since it can’t bounce. Virus, however, provides consistent damage over time and can help clear groups.

Tip: Use Virus when you want steady damage spread across many enemies.

    Spider Queen

Required Balls: Brood Mother + Egg Sac
Effect: Spawns an Egg Sac with each hit on an enemy.

Egg Sacs can be tricky at the start since they are destroyed after hitting enemies, but Spider Queen keeps them alive longer, making their effect more useful. This creates many eggs on screen, which can be leveraged with characters like The Cohabitants and The Flagellant.

Tip: Combining Spider Queen with Vampire Lord and Mosquito King can lead to a powerful evolution called Nosferatu—though it takes luck and time.

    Cell

    Required Balls: None
Effect: Creates a clone up to two times after hitting an enemy, splitting itself into multiple balls.

Ideal if you play The Cohabitants, as Cell splits into three balls with its first hits, increasing bouncing and damage potential. It’s less damaging directly but excels at crowd control. Upgrading Cell and fusing it with another strong ball can cause those balls to also split upon contact—a great strategic choice.

Note: Only the original Cell can split; copies will merely deal damage.

Complete Beginner’s Guide to Ball x Pit: Solving and Completing

Ball x Pit is a roguelite brick-breaking game with light base-building features. Your goal is to upgrade balls, unlock new characters, and gradually descend into a pit that gets harder with each level. You can choose from a variety of characters, balls, and strategies as you play.

Progression is simple, but this guide will highlight key strategies, such as which buildings to prioritize, how to unlock new blueprints, and the best character and ball combos.

    Characters, Ball Fusion, and Evolution

Some gameplay mechanics can help you succeed in Ball x Pit.

Each character starts with a unique ball. For example, The Warrior begins with the Bleed ball, while The Achy Finger starts with Burn. Characters also have special traits, which are unlocked by completing levels and building their house blueprints.

Note: You need to build character houses at your base. We’ll explain base-building later.

All Characters in Ball x Pit

Here’s a list of the characters:

    Character Trait
    The Warrior No unique trait
The Achy Finger Shoots twice as fast, scatters aim, moves at full speed while shooting, with Burn starting ball
The Repentant Balls bounce and deal 5% more damage each bounce; hitting the back wall damages enemies passing through
The Embedded Balls always pierce enemies until hitting walls
    The Cogitator Automatically selects upgrades
The Cohabitants Launches mirrored copies of each ball at half damage
The Shade Balls shoot from the back with a 10% base critical chance
The Empty Nester Shoots multiple instances of one equipped special ball; no baby balls
The Shieldbearer Uses a shield to bounce balls back; balls deal more damage with each bounce
The Spendthrift Shoots all balls simultaneously in a wide arc
The Makeshift Sisyphus Increases AoE and status damage significantly, but balls no longer deal direct hit damage
The Flagellant Balls bounce off the bottom of the screen normally
The Physicist Gravity affects balls, pulling them toward the back of the screen
The Juggler Lobs balls into the air toward a target; bouncing starts on hitting the ground
The Radical Plays the game and automatically chooses upgrades

    Best Characters

Different characters excel depending on their starting balls and traits. Successful players favor characters like:

    • The Achy Finger — because Burn is a powerful starting ball.
    • The Flagellant — as bouncing off the bottom can double damage output.
    • The Cogitator — since it automatically selects upgrades, often making good choices.

Experiment with different characters. When you unlock the Matchmaker blueprint, you can bring two characters into a run, helping you plan early evolutions like combining Burn and Freeze for tougher levels.

    Ball Evolution and Fusion

Two level-3 balls with potential evolutions can be combined to upgrade their power. A full list of possible ball evolutions is available. Planning your evolutions helps you strengthen your balls and free up slots for new ones.

You can also fuse any two level-3 balls, regardless of whether they’ve evolved. For example, fusing a Cell level 3 with a Vampire Lord level 3 creates a Vampire Lord that splits into multiple copies. These combinations can become very strong.

    Progression and Base Building

Progression involves collecting blueprints for new buildings and constructing them at your base. Buildings cost resources like wheat, wood, stone, and gold. You need to manually send characters to build by bouncing off them.

    Best Buildings to Build First

Prioritize new character houses, which unlock additional character options and strategies. Also, focus on resource-generating buildings like wheat fields and forests. Send characters on resource harvests between runs — more harvests can help gather resources faster, although late in the game, the benefit of multiple harvests is limited.

    Building Layout

A simple layout works best: place resource buildings near the middle, surrounded by other structures. This setup keeps bumping characters contained within a large perimeter, reducing the chance they’ll get stuck between small areas or buildings.

    How to Beat Each Level

Levels grow increasingly difficult as you descend deeper into the pit. You may encounter spikes in difficulty. To cope, choose characters that complement the level’s challenges, and upgrade them through specific buildings (for example, buildings that boost Intelligence increase baby ball damage). Using a mixture of area damage (AoE) and single-target attacks is essential for defeating bosses.

Each level has three bosses: two stage bosses and a final boss. After defeating the first two, you’ll earn a Fusion upgrade. Timing your upgrades for level-3 balls allows you to fuse or evolve them after the boss fights, creating more powerful combinations.

    Important Tips

    • Don’t forget about passive abilities. Combining passives, like crit damage bonuses, with strong balls is very effective.
    • Focus on maintaining a balance between evolving your balls and freeing up space for new ones.
    • Keep an eye on your upgrades, especially after bosses, to maximize your ball strength before progressing further.
