Ultimate Guide to Pebbles in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2

Pebbles is among the first horses you’ll encounter in the early stages of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. While she may not be the top choice, you have the opportunity to enhance her abilities by unlocking her hidden perk.

You can acquire Pebbles in one of two ways: by either purchasing her or persuading the horse trader to give her to you for free. This guide will walk you through how to get Pebbles and unlock her unique perk in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2.

How to Acquire Pebbles in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2?

Head southwest from Troskowitz until you reach the Semine stables, where you can find various horses, including Pebbles.

At the stables, you can either buy Pebbles from the horse trader, Groom Ballatay, or try to convince him to give her to you for free. It’s advisable to use saviour schnapps before attempting to persuade the trader, as it makes the skill check easier. Simply ask him to be reasonable, and you should receive Pebbles without too much hassle.

If persuasion isn’t your style, you can take Pebbles through theft. First, go to Tachov and speak with the blacksmith Radovan about buying lockpicks. Once you have them, return to the Semine stables and wait until nightfall, when Ballatay goes home to sleep.

Peering through the window, confirm that he’s asleep. Then, lockpick his main door and his room door to break in.

Remember to save your game before attempting to break in so you can retry if needed. After successfully entering his room, consider saving again to avoid wasting time if things don’t go as planned.

Press X to start robbing him. Keep in mind that this is time-sensitive; if you linger, you might get caught. After collecting the cash, wait until he returns to the stables the following day, and purchase Pebbles from him for 160 Groschens, using the money you just stole.

    Pebbles’ Stats

While Pebbles may not be the ultimate horse in the game, she still offers a decent starting point. Here are her initial stats:

    Stamina 129
    Capacity 138
    Speed 33
    Courage 12

How to Unlock the “Good Old Pebbles” Perk in KCD 2

If you want to avoid spending a fortune on a premium horse, focus on unlocking Pebbles’ hidden perk. To achieve the “Good Old Pebbles” perk, simply ride her for 35 kilometers. Once you hit this milestone, a notification will appear in the top right corner of your screen. Some players find that this perk unlocks by reaching level 14 in the Horsemanship skill.

Pebbles’ Stats After Unlocking the Perk

After unlocking the perk, Pebbles’ stats receive a significant boost:

    Stamina 216
    Capacity 358
    Speed 53

With improved stamina, Pebbles can become one of the best pack horses in the game. However, it’s advisable to avoid using her in combat due to her lower courage level.

    Quick Links

Having a reliable horse significantly impacts your experience in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. At the beginning, Pebbles may seem unremarkable—slow, weak, and lacking stamina. You might feel tempted to purchase a superior horse, but that’s not necessary.

The reason is simple: Pebbles has the potential to become one of the best horses in the game. By unlocking a special perk known as Good Old Pebbles, you can greatly enhance his abilities. This will save you from spending a fortune in Groschen to acquire a better horse; by sticking with Pebbles, you’ll find he performs just as well if not better.

How To Unlock Good Old Pebbles Perk

The Good Old Pebbles perk is somewhat unique in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 as it’s a hidden perk that only becomes visible once you’ve attained it.

To unlock this perk, you need to spend a considerable amount of time riding Pebbles. In our experience, it became available around level 14 of the Horsemanship skill—roughly halfway through the storyline in the Kuttenberg region.

Once you’ve unlocked the Good Old Pebbles perk, you’ll receive a notification in the top right corner of your screen.

Many players believe that you need to ride Pebbles for approximately 30 to 40 kilometers to unlock the perk. You can track this distance by accessing your player screen and navigating to the Statistics section, where you can see how far you’ve traveled on horseback.

To activate the Good Old Pebbles perk as quickly as possible, prioritize riding Pebbles whenever you can. Avoid running or fast traveling; opt for horseback travel instead.

    Pebbles’ Increased Stats

After unlocking the perk, you can view Pebbles’ upgraded stats by interacting with him. His new stats are as follows:

    Category Stat
    Stamina 216
    Capacity 358
    Speed 53
    Courage 12
    Value 5040

You can compare these stats against any other horse you encounter while exploring the different regions in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. After the upgrade, very few horses can match Pebbles in performance.
