What Is Partner in MTG? Exploring Completing and Solving

When the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Magic: The Gathering Commander deck was announced, it was unusual to see only one deck revealed instead of one for each turtle. This is because the Partner keyword is making a comeback, allowing players to choose two commanders instead of just one.

Since its first appearance in Commander 2016, the Partner keyword has been included in multiple sets such as Doctor Who, Commander Legends, Assassin’s Creed, and now in the TMNT set, on five different cards.

    ### What Is Partner?
Partner is a keyword that lets a legendary creature be played alongside another legendary creature, meaning you can have two commanders instead of one. Both cards must have the partner keyword to do this.

In some cases, only certain cards can be partnered together, which will be specified on the card itself. Sometimes, the cards need to share the same ability, as is the case with the TMNT gang, which have an ability called “character select.”

Unlike Sneak, a new keyword introduced in the TMNT set, Partner is a returning keyword that has been part of the Commander format for about ten years.

    ### How To Use Partner
At its simplest, Partner just requires you to choose two Commander-eligible cards that include the partner keyword. This allows you to have two commanders instead of just one.

Your deck still needs to have 100 cards total. So, if you’re using two commanders with Partner, your deck will consist of 98 other cards. You still pay the regular costs to cast each commander, and damage dealt to other players from commanders is tracked separately for each card, not combined. The same applies to Commander Tax, which increases by two each time you recast a commander from the command zone.

    ### Will Partner Show Up in Future Sets?
Because Partner has been featured in several sets since 2016, it’s likely to appear again in future products, especially if it fits the theme, much like how it’s been included in Assassin’s Creed and TMNT sets.

Partner tends to be used mainly in Commander or Universes Beyond sets. However, recent cards sometimes feature it in regular sets or even in Secret Lair drops, indicating it might continue to appear across different types of releases.

US Secures Deal for Qatar Air Force Base in Idaho

Qatar has been granted approval to establish an air force training facility at Mountain Home Air Base in Idaho, where F-15 fighter jets and pilots will be based. This move occurs shortly after President Trump issued an executive order reinforcing U.S. support for Qatar amid heightened tensions in the Middle East, especially following Israeli strikes targeting Hamas leaders in Doha.

At the Pentagon, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth announced, alongside Qatar’s Defense Minister Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, that a formal acceptance letter has been signed for the construction of this Qatar Emiri Air Force facility. The base will host Qatari F-15 aircraft and pilots, aiming to strengthen joint training efforts, improve interoperability, and boost military readiness.

Hegseth emphasized that this development exemplifies the robust partnership between the U.S. and Qatar, assuring that the U.S. can be counted on for support. Currently, the Idaho base also accommodates a Singaporean fighter squadron.

Hegseth expressed gratitude to Qatar for its significant mediating role in achieving a truce and facilitating a prisoner and hostage swap between Israel and Hamas, as well as assisting in the release of an American citizen from Afghanistan. The Qatari defense minister highlighted the enduring, strong relationship and their deepening defense cooperation.

The U.S. maintains its largest military presence in the Middle East at Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar. President Trump’s close ties with Qatari leadership have attracted attention, particularly after Qatar gifted the U.S. a Boeing 747 for use as Air Force One. Although plans for the Idaho facility appear to have been in motion since the previous administration under Joe Biden, the announcement sparked some criticism on social media. Notably, far-right activist Laura Loomer questioned the decision, suggesting it was inappropriate for a Muslim-majority country involved in funding terrorism to host a U.S. military base on American soil. Hegseth clarified later that Qatar will not have a standalone base but will operate within an existing U.S. facility, asserting control over the site and emphasizing the partnership’s strategic importance.

T-Mobile Teams Up With Gaming Giant for AI in 6G

As 5G becomes the prevailing standard for mobile communication, the anticipation for 6G is growing. What can we expect from this next generation of connectivity? Emerging insights are beginning to clarify its potential.

NVIDIA has formed alliances with leading companies like T-Mobile to create the technological foundation for 6G networks. Their ambition is to design a wireless system that is intricately intertwined with artificial intelligence, promising extraordinary performance and efficient resource management.

As Jensen Huang, the founder and CEO of NVIDIA, articulates:

“The upcoming wireless networks will be transformative, presenting a historic chance to embed AI from the ground up.”

6G is set to revolutionize communication technologies in the coming decade, building upon the advancements made by 5G. Its primary goals include achieving ultra-fast speeds, minimal latency, and enhanced network capacity. This will be accomplished by leveraging higher frequency ranges, especially terahertz waves, alongside the integration of AI and machine learning for optimized network function.

Notable features of 6G are expected to include the ability to harmoniously merge the physical, digital, and biological realms, thus enabling groundbreaking applications like immersive extended reality (XR), precise location and sensing capabilities, and sophisticated industrial automation. Moreover, this next-gen technology aims to ensure global connectivity by merging terrestrial and satellite systems.

While still in the research and development phase, the potential impact of 6G spans numerous industries—including healthcare, transportation, and manufacturing—by fostering unparalleled levels of connectivity and automation.

As we move forward, it will be compelling to watch for updates regarding 6G, particularly with its integration of AI. However, it’s important to recognize that establishing this new standard will be a lengthy endeavor, likely stretching into the next decade. Stay tuned for more developments!
