What Is Partner in MTG? Exploring Completing and Solving

When the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Magic: The Gathering Commander deck was announced, it was unusual to see only one deck revealed instead of one for each turtle. This is because the Partner keyword is making a comeback, allowing players to choose two commanders instead of just one.

Since its first appearance in Commander 2016, the Partner keyword has been included in multiple sets such as Doctor Who, Commander Legends, Assassin’s Creed, and now in the TMNT set, on five different cards.

    ### What Is Partner?
Partner is a keyword that lets a legendary creature be played alongside another legendary creature, meaning you can have two commanders instead of one. Both cards must have the partner keyword to do this.

In some cases, only certain cards can be partnered together, which will be specified on the card itself. Sometimes, the cards need to share the same ability, as is the case with the TMNT gang, which have an ability called “character select.”

Unlike Sneak, a new keyword introduced in the TMNT set, Partner is a returning keyword that has been part of the Commander format for about ten years.

    ### How To Use Partner
At its simplest, Partner just requires you to choose two Commander-eligible cards that include the partner keyword. This allows you to have two commanders instead of just one.

Your deck still needs to have 100 cards total. So, if you’re using two commanders with Partner, your deck will consist of 98 other cards. You still pay the regular costs to cast each commander, and damage dealt to other players from commanders is tracked separately for each card, not combined. The same applies to Commander Tax, which increases by two each time you recast a commander from the command zone.

    ### Will Partner Show Up in Future Sets?
Because Partner has been featured in several sets since 2016, it’s likely to appear again in future products, especially if it fits the theme, much like how it’s been included in Assassin’s Creed and TMNT sets.

Partner tends to be used mainly in Commander or Universes Beyond sets. However, recent cards sometimes feature it in regular sets or even in Secret Lair drops, indicating it might continue to appear across different types of releases.

Actress Elçin Sangu and her partner, Yunus Özdiken, are still entangled in legal proceedings following the rejection of their recent criminal complaint concerning online and media coverage. In June, the couple filed a lawsuit claiming that some news articles circulated on social media and in print were false and harmful, seeking accountability for those spreading what they considered to be misinformation.

The prosecutor examined their case but decided to dismiss it on the grounds that the publications were protected under press freedom and free speech. Sangu and Özdiken appealed the decision, but the court upheld the original ruling, also dismissing a similar claim from the previous winter.

In those reports, allegations of a financial disagreement involving a master craftsman and Sangu were discussed. Both the actress and her partner maintain their innocence, asserting the reports were inaccurate.

There was also recent coverage about an ongoing dispute where Sangu was targeted by a cycle of legal accusations. Additionally, it was reported that Yunus Özdiken obtained a one-month protective order against a journalist in October, citing safety concerns due to potential harassment and conflicts prior to a court event. This order has since expired, and Özdiken explained it was intended to ensure his safety, although it made journalistic coverage more difficult.

Further developments include a lawsuit filed by content creator Ceren Yılmaz, claiming that Özdiken does not owe her 320,000 TL, a debt owed by Sangu and recovered through an enforcement proceeding. Both Sangu and Özdiken indicated they plan to continue defending themselves through the judiciary.

The two were reportedly seen together at the premiere of the movie Uykucu last month, with no reports of physical altercations. Both parties have expressed their intention to pursue ongoing legal remedies.

The media attention surrounding Sangu and her partner remains high, especially on social media platforms where fans actively follow their case updates. As of now, neither Sangu nor Özdiken has released any new statements after the latest court decision. Expect future hearings related to their civil litigation in the upcoming months.

Elon Musk’s AI venture, xAI, is set to pay Telegram $300 million to launch its Grok chatbot on the messaging platform, which boasts over a billion users. This move aims to strengthen its position within the rapidly growing AI industry, as reported by Reuters.

According to Telegram’s founder, Pavel Durov, the agreement spans one year and includes a provision where xAI will share half of the subscription revenue generated through the app. The $300 million will be settled with a combination of cash and stock.

Durov emphasized that xAI’s access to user data will be limited to information that Telegram users voluntarily provide to Grok during their interactions.

This collaboration could grant xAI, which acquired X earlier this year, access to valuable data for refining and enhancing its AI models.

As many open-source data sources have been depleted, AI firms face growing challenges in acquiring quality data. This has led companies like Meta Platforms to leverage public interactions with AI for training their models.

X’s privacy policy indicates that it utilizes public user posts to inform its AI models, although it’s unclear if xAI plans to follow a similar approach with data from Telegram.

This year, xAI has established multiple partnerships aimed at reinforcing its presence in both AI infrastructure and financial services. The company has not yet responded to a request for comment from Reuters.
