  • Top Stadium Heroes for Completing Every Role in Overwatch 2

Top Stadium Heroes for Completing Every Role in Overwatch 2

In Overwatch 2’s Stadium mode, heroes are played in a more intense way, where every build and choice can change the outcome. Building the right team with tanks that can hold the line, damage dealers who can wipe out enemies quickly, and supports that keep everyone alive becomes even more important.

We base our recommendations on how often heroes are picked and our own experience. Think of it as a way to get better without having to find out everything the hard way.

    How Our Stadium Tiers Work

Stadium mode depends on hero setups that focus on earning money, scaling abilities, and staying alive. The heroes are ranked into tiers:

    • S Tier: Heroes who dominate almost every match.
    • A Tier: Strong heroes with reliable performance but not quite as dominant.
    • B Tier: Situational heroes; require careful play.
    • C Tier: Underperforming heroes in this mode; often outshined by others.

    S Tier Stadium Heroes

Heroes in S Tier are known for their strong offense, versatility, or survivability. They are dependable picks no matter the situation.

    • Sigma: A very flexible tank with powerful skills that help both attack and defense.
    • Cassidy: High damage output, capable of quickly taking out enemy tanks.
    • Soldier: Excellent in tracking-based aim builds, very powerful here.
    • Moira: Great survivability combined with damage, life steal, and high money generation.
    • Reinhardt: His charge is both fun and effective; his shield lasts longer than most.
    • Juno: Maxing out her torpedoes and ability power makes her a big threat.
    • Kiriko: A fun healer with ninja damage builds; her teleportation ability is highly useful.

Kiriko Support Versatile healing and teleportation boost her value for offense and defense.

    • Zarya: Flexible and reliable in many matchups.
    • Mercy: A dependable healer to keep teammates alive.

Brigitte Support Can build into a tough tank or a solid healer.
Zarya Tank Very adaptable and dependable across matches.
Reaper Damage Excels at multiple kills, teleporting, and using Death Blossom repeatedly.

    B Tier Stadium Heroes

Heroes here work but are often overshadowed or need perfect conditions.

    • Ana: Can be useful but easily countered.
    • Winston: Low damage output and scaling make him less effective.
    • D.Va: Lacks the durability and damage compared to others.
    • Orisa: Less impactful in this mode.
    • Zenyatta: Power split across weapons and abilities makes cohesive setup harder.
    • Lucio: Can be overwhelmed by hero damage output.
    Hero Role Why They’re Here
Ana Support Limited by counters and weaker healing compared to others.
Winston Tank Struggles due to poor scaling and damage.

Lucio Support Easily overwhelmed by damage-heavy heroes.
Junkrat Damage Good at spam and area denial but easily countered.

    • Winston: Poor scaling and damage output.
    • Ana: Weaker healing in this mode.
    • Lucio: Not enough survivability.
    • Junkrat: Situational, easily shut down.
    • Zenyatta: Difficult to use effectively here.

Ashe Damage Low mobility; damage builds are easily countered.
D.Va Tank Lacks durability and damage to compete.
Orisa Tank Less effective than other tanks.
Winston Tank Scaling and damage issues limit effectiveness.
Ana Support Weaker healing compared to better options.
Winston Tank Lacks the damage to stand out.
Junkrat Damage Easy to counter; less consistent performance.
Zenyatta Support Cohesive use is hard, and output is limited.

Who To Pick for Each Role: Tank, Damage, and Support

In Stadium mode, the best tanks are Sigma and Reinhardt. Sigma’s versatility and strong abilities help in many situations, while Reinhardt’s shield and charge make him perfect for space control and protecting teammates.

For damage, Cassidy and Soldier shine. Cassidy can quickly eliminate key targets, and Soldier’s tracking skills make him reliable.

On the support side, Moira, Juno, and Kiriko are top choices. Moira offers healing combined with survivability and damage, while Kiriko’s healing and teleportation make her valuable for both attack and defense. Juno’s torpedoes and ability power let her excel when played aggressively.

  • How Completing Payload Race Mode Works in Overwatch 2

How Completing Payload Race Mode Works in Overwatch 2

Overwatch 2 isn’t afraid to change its usual style, and Stadium is where those changes happen. Payload Race is one of those new features, taking a familiar game mode and offering a fresh twist. The game can change quickly, so understanding how it works is key to doing well.

This mode rewards good awareness and timing. Even players new to the game will notice how different it feels from typical escort rounds. If you’re curious about how it plays or want tips to improve, here’s everything you need to know before jumping in.

    What Is Payload Race?

Payload Race is a game mode found in Stadium. It looks quite similar to the standard Escort mode but with a big difference: instead of one payload, each team gets its own. This means both teams are trying to escort their individual payloads to the final point at the same time.

This is the only game mode in Overwatch 2 that has two moving objectives at once, and you can see the progress of both payloads on the top of your screen.

The goal is simple: push your team’s payload to the finish line while stopping the opposing team from doing the same. Whoever reaches the end first or gets their payload farther along when the timer runs out wins. Near the last checkpoint, the payload can no longer back up and moves more slowly to make up for it.

There are two maps made specifically for Payload Race. One is Powder Keg Mine, a part of Route 66, and the other is Thames District, a neighborhood in London next to King’s Row.

How Does Overtime Work in Payload Race?

Overtime in this mode works a bit differently. In Escort, both teams need to contest the same point to keep the game going. But in Payload Race, only the team that’s losing needs to contest one of the two payloads to keep playing.

    Tips to Win Payload Race

While the mode might seem familiar at first, it requires a different strategy. Here are some helpful tips:

    Balance Offense and Defense
Winning depends on managing both aspects at once. If your team only focuses on pushing your payload, the enemy can keep advancing theirs freely. It’s best to split responsibilities: tanks and supports should help move your payload, while damage heroes switch between pushing their own and slowing down the enemy’s.

    Contest Smartly
Since overtime only requires the losing team to contest one payload, it’s important to keep track of which payload is closer to the goal. If your team is behind, prioritize stopping the enemy’s payload over pushing yours. Clowing their progress even for a few seconds can turn the tide and give your team a chance to catch up.

    Play the Final Stretches Carefully
The last part of the map includes a no-regression zone where payloads only move forward, and at a slower speed. All progress made here is permanent, so teams should use ultimates wisely in this area. Saving crowd control abilities for this push can be game-changing. Defenders should come together and focus on stalling the payload to buy time.

  • All Rewards from Overwatch 2’s Winter Wonderland Event

All Rewards from Overwatch 2’s Winter Wonderland Event

Snow is gently falling, warm fires are crackling, and the sweet aroma of gingerbread fills the air. The holiday spirit is alive and well, even in the vibrant world of Overwatch 2. What better way to embrace this festive season than by diving into some seasonal minigames?

We’re talking about the much-loved Winter Wonderland event returning to Overwatch 2, bringing back popular game modes and countless gifts for both seasoned players and newcomers alike. So, lace up your boots, gather some snowballs, and stay warm out there – there’s a lot of excitement waiting for you!

    What Is Winter Wonderland?

Every December, Overwatch brings back some exciting seasonal game modes in the Arcade along with various challenges. This year, the Winter Wonderland event takes place from December 10 to January 6, giving you plenty of time to join in on the festivities. Here’s what you can look forward to:

    Mei’s Snowball Offensive/Snowball Deathmatch

Experience a surprisingly intense and strategic snowball fight where everyone plays as Mei with adjusted abilities. Instead of her regular freezing spray and charged icicle shot, you’ll have a single snowball that instantly takes down any enemy it hits.

Once you throw your snowball, you’ll need to reload by finding one of the snow piles scattered around the map. Your Ultimate turns into a snowball supply, making them limitless for a brief period.

Snowball Offensive is played as a team game, while Snowball Deathmatch is a free-for-all.

    Yeti Hunt

This is an asymmetrical game of cat and mouse set in the Shambali Monastery. Five Meis work together to hunt down one extremely tough Yeti-Winston, attempting to trap and defeat him before he finds the food hidden in the map.

If the Yeti finds four pieces of food, he powers up with a stronger version of Primal Rage that can easily take down the hunters. In this mode, Mei’s ultimate is replaced with a large steel trap, similar to Junkrat’s ability.

    Freezethaw Elimination

Hankering for something familiar? This mode resembles the standard 5v5 Lockout Elimination, but with a frosty twist: players who are “eliminated” get frozen instead of being out of the game and can be thawed by their teammates, allowing them back into the action.

Though it’s not officially part of Winter Wonderland, 6v6 has also made a return as a limited-time mode running during the same period as Winter Wonderland.

  • Mastering Ranked Matches in Overwatch 2: A Guide

Playing Overwatch 2 can be a blast, especially with its various game modes. However, there’s that one mode where the stakes are higher — competitive matchmaking. In this mode, you’re matched with players who have similar skill levels, which usually leads to a more focused and less chaotic gaming experience.

The development team for Overwatch 2 has updated how you can access the competitive mode. This guide covers everything you need to know to get started. Just follow along, and you’ll be diving into competitive gameplay in no time.

    How to Unlock Competitive Mode

Overwatch 2 challenges menu showing completed Competitive Play Qualification challenge.-1

To enter competitive mode, you must complete the First-Time User Experience (FTUE) and win 50 Quick Play matches (this fulfills the Competitive Play Qualification challenge). FTUE serves as a basic tutorial that familiarizes you with the game mechanics. Quick Play is similar to casual or unranked matches in other games.

You can monitor your progress in the Competitive Play Qualification challenge by going to Main Menu > Challenges > Lifetime.

This change was implemented after October 4, 2022, allowing new players to avoid negatively impacting games due to a lack of experience with heroes and gameplay.

Overwatch 2 Reinhardt and Mercy preparing to defend a point.-1

While winning 50 games may sound like a tedious task, it’s not as tough as it seems. Plus, it’ll give you a chance to get comfortable with all 41 heroes. Whether you decide to play many of them or focus on a few, understanding how they operate is crucial for both supporting your teammates and countering opponents effectively.

Completing these initial challenges doesn’t immediately grant you a competitive rank. You still need to go through calibration matches to establish your starting rank.

Who Needs to Unlock Competitive Mode

Overwatch 2 Moira being healed during a match.-1

Not everyone needs to complete the Competitive Play Qualification and FTUE. What Is Classic Mode?

Overwatch: Classic is a limited-time event within Overwatch 2 that allows players to experience the game as it was at launch. You can enjoy the original 21 heroes, 12 maps, and gameplay balance just as it was back in May 2016. In this mode, you’ll get to play Overwatch’s original 6v6 team-based format.

Prepare for gameplay filled with risk and reward, featuring heroes with abilities that have not been seen in years. The event includes maps such as Hanamura, Temple of Anubis, and Dorado, giving players a chance to revisit these classic locations.

For an added nostalgic feel, Overwatch: Classic uses only the original default skins.

    How To Play Classic Mode

To access Overwatch: Classic, simply navigate to the main menu of Overwatch 2 and click on the orange “Overwatch: Classic” option located in the top left corner. This will take you to the event hub page, where you can queue up for matches. Classic Mode follows the traditional Quick Play rules.

In the first few days of the event, there are no hero limits, which means you can have multiple players pick the same hero. After this initial phase, hero limits will be implemented, allowing only one of each hero on a team.

Heroes are categorized into their original roles — Attackers, Defenders, Tanks, and Supports — but players can choose any hero, regardless of the team composition. Additionally, Classic Mode features faster Ultimate charge rates, allowing for more frequent use of your Ultimate abilities.

What Are The Classic Event Challenges?

Overwatch has gone through significant changes since its debut, making the opportunity to revisit some of the original strategies from 2016 a lot of fun. Players can experiment with early-game metas that were pivotal to Overwatch’s gameplay.

    Symmetra Teleporter Tactics

In her earlier form, Symmetra had a powerful Teleporter ultimate that allowed teams to skip large sections of the map and launch surprise offensives. This strategy, often referred to as ‘teleporter cheese’, utilizes Symmetra’s teleporter to position your team strategically and catch the opponent off guard.

Symmetra’s teleportation ability allows for quick team engagements from the spawn to the front lines, facilitating fast assaults against the enemy’s defenses.

    Bastion Shield Strategy

In 2016, Bastion was often considered a notorious pick, particularly when positioned in turret form at significant choke points on the maps. The strategy revolves around shielding Bastion or placing him in a secure spot, enabling him to deal extensive damage to anyone who attempts to cross his firing line.

To enhance the effectiveness of this tactic, pairing Bastion with a Reinhardt shield or Zarya’s protective bubbles is crucial.

    Triple Tank Meta

The Triple Tank meta focused on establishing a robust frontline comprised of three tanks, each contributing a different type of protection and utility. Reinhardt acted as the primary shield, Zarya offered potent damage potential with her energy gain, and D.Va provided mobility and crowd control with her Defense Matrix.

This combination allowed for sustained combat, as D.Va and Zarya absorbed damage effectively while Reinhardt held the front line. This composition excels in pushing objectives and maintaining control in tight chokepoints.

Blizzard seems to be responding to player feedback. On Thursday, the Overwatch team announced the return of 6v6 matches, following their controversial removal in Overwatch 2—but this return is primarily for testing purposes.

In a blog post, the team indicated they plan to conduct two tests involving 6v6 gameplay in the forthcoming season 14. The first test will occur about a week after the season launches on December 10, featuring an Open Queue scenario that allows players to switch characters during the match, while ensuring each team must have at least one character from each role, but with a maximum of three heroes in total per team. For example, if three damage heroes are already chosen, players can’t switch to Genji.

The second 6v6 trial is scheduled for mid-season and will revert to a 2-2-2 composition—two damage, two tanks, and two support characters on each team—while integrating updates from Overwatch 2. Although the blog didn’t specify the exact changes, it will include a reduction in crowd control effects.

The team stated, “This series of tests serves to gauge players’ interest in larger team sizes as well as to explore different approaches for implementing changes while avoiding past issues.”

Initially, Overwatch launched with a 6v6 format, which quickly resulted in composition challenges, especially during the game’s early days, as role restrictions were not in place. This inconsistency made balancing heroes difficult for developers. When role limits were introduced, they led to extended queue times and limited meta strategies, complicating competitive play.

With the switch to 5v5 for Overwatch 2, many players expressed dissatisfaction. While it wasn’t enough to deter players entirely from continuing with the game, it significantly altered gameplay dynamics—not always for the better. The faster pace suited certain heroes but didn’t remedy many of the developers’ ongoing challenges.

The results from these 6v6 tests, combined with findings from two other 5v5 trials in season 13, will inform future directions for the game. “Is it possible for both 5v5 and 6v6 to coexist in Overwatch 2? Just a few months ago, my answer would have been no,” the post indicated. “We recognize that players may desire varied experiences, and that’s something we will need to consider moving forward.”

  • Overwatch 2: Unlocking Abilities, Ultimate Moves, and Playstyle

Overwatch 2: Unlocking Abilities, Ultimate Moves, and Playstyle

Overwatch 2 features a diverse roster of heroes, each with varying effectiveness in the current meta, and their roles contribute to distinct strategies for team composition.

When forming a team in Overwatch 2, Tanks play a crucial role as they absorb damage and shield the damage dealers from enemy attacks. Among them, Winston stands out as an exceptional hero, renowned for his effectiveness in this capacity.

Teams are limited to a single tank hero, eliminating the option for double-Winston setups. Nevertheless, Winston remains a strong choice thanks to his high mobility on the battlefield, which is particularly beneficial given the solo tank requirement.

    Winston’s Abilities

Winston employs the Tesla Cannon as his primary weapon, which features a straightforward secondary fire option but relatively low damage output.

This weapon excels at penetrating shields and can automatically target enemies directly in front of him, as noted by GameRant.

His secondary fire unleashes a ball of electric energy, with the option to hold the fire button to charge a concentrated electric beam. Each shot inflicts 20 damage and consumes up to 12 rounds of ammunition.

The Barrier Projector ability lets Winston create a sizable, dome-shaped shield that absorbs damage for both him and his teammates.

A notable feature of this shield is that it isn’t centered on Winston; it is placed at his feet, allowing it to be strategically positioned on objectives or during escort missions.

Winston’s Jump Pack enables him to propel himself into the air, dealing damage in a small area upon landing. This ability has a moderate cooldown, which makes it usable more frequently, according to GameSpot.

    Winston’s Ultimate

The tank hero possesses a straightforward but formidable Ultimate known as Primal Rage. This ability grants him additional health, a boost in movement speed, and an enhancement for his melee attacks, while also reducing the cooldown for Jump Pack, allowing for more frequent use.

However, there is one limitation when activating Winston’s Ultimate: he can only utilize the Jump Pack and melee attack, with no access to his other abilities during this time.

    Winston’s Passive

Winston also has a Passive ability called Role: Tank, which minimizes the impact of knockback effects from other heroes. This passive trait is shared among all tank characters in Overwatch 2.

    Winston’s Playstyle

When playing Winston in Overwatch 2, focus on disrupting enemies, isolating targets, and dismantling their team. All his abilities are geared toward creating chaos among foes.

While Winston is accessible for beginners, truly mastering his playstyle and effectively timing his abilities can present a challenge.

He is particularly suited for dive compositions that invade enemy territory and target individual heroes, as highlighted by TheGamer.
