How to Play as Operator: Completing & Solving in Risk of Rain 2

Risk of Rain 2 has built up a diverse lineup of characters, or classes, over the years. The Alloyed Collective expansion introduced new classes, including the Operative. This class plays quite differently from the others and can be challenging to master. If misused, the Operative can struggle early on, often leading to an unsuccessful run.

However, when used skillfully, the Operative can go very far. Success requires changing your playstyle to highlight the Operative’s strengths, which will differ significantly from most other classes.

    Operator Class Skills

The Operative’s abilities focus mainly on movement and drones.

    Drone Tech

The Operative begins each run with two drones, which you can choose in the Loadouts section. By default, they are:

    • Gunner Drone Mk 2, which damages enemies.
    • Healing Drone Mk 2, which restores your health.

    H3-11 OCR Custom

This is your primary attack. It fires a shot that, if it kills an enemy, ricochets to other nearby enemies. This makes it great for clearing groups of minions with a single shot. The damage of this attack increases the longer it’s been since last fired, up to a maximum of three charge dots near your crosshair. Firing with a full charge deals much more damage than rapid shots, though rapid fire can sometimes be better against tougher foes like bosses.

    ADMIN-OVERRIDE

This ability makes your drone use its special skill, which varies depending on the drone type. Each drone offers unique effects besides its default attack. Using this ability rotates a drone in your toolbar, showing which drone is ready to activate and which is up next. You can activate multiple drones in quick succession before the cooldown resets.

Every drone you deploy during a run is utilized by this skill.

    Ascent Protocol

This skill launches you into the air, helping you cover vertical and horizontal distances that are normally impossible. It contributes to making the Operative extremely mobile and can be used strategically to avoid dangerous attacks. Furthermore, you can leap between drones while airborne, which helps maximize drone deployment throughout a run.

    Ejection Core

This ability throws a drone ahead, which lifts enemies into the air and interrupts their attack. It also temporarily causes enemies to take more damage from skills. This is useful for controlling groups and disrupting boss patterns.

    How to Play the Operator

Drones play a major role in the Operative’s gameplay. Managing their positioning and timing is key to success. Players should manipulate situations to maximize drone effectiveness, especially in tight spaces that limit movement. Since AoE attacks can damage both you and your drones, it’s better to avoid crowded areas where your movement and drone deployment are restricted.

Using the Ascend Protocol to leap into the air provides crucial mobility, allowing you to dodge attacks and attack enemies from above. Staying aware of your environment helps you maintain drone control and prevent getting cornered.

For higher-health enemies, targeting nearby low-health minions with a charged shot can be smarter. Eliminating these minions causes a ricochet into the stronger enemy while also clearing weaker foes around them, maintaining pressure on challenging bosses and groups.

Opera is stepping into the future of AI-driven browsing with a groundbreaking feature called Browser Operator, showcased at MWC 2025. This innovative tool transforms simple written queries into actionable commands, streamlining the web surfing experience and reducing the need for users to manually navigate through different pages.

Simply type your request in everyday language, and Browser Operator does the rest. For instance, if you need to secure three concert tickets, just instruct the Operator, and it will handle the selection and booking process, guiding you to the final payment stage without hassle.

As this browsing assistant springs into action, users will receive a detailed breakdown of the actions taken, akin to an AI reasoning model. The Operator can tackle complex multi-step tasks while keeping track of context from prior interactions.

    How does Operator work?

This tool doesn’t operate fully autonomously; Opera has designed it to require user confirmation at sensitive points, like entering personal information such as phone numbers or vehicle details. The technology relies on the AI Composer Engine, intelligently parsing user inputs into specific browsing directives.

One of the standout aspects of the Browser Operator is that it functions locally on your device rather than relying on cloud processing, ensuring that user data remains private. According to Opera, “the Browser Operator runs natively inside your browser,” protecting sensitive information such as cookies and browsing history.

The AI’s approach differs from traditional web interactions, as it emphasizes a text-based comprehension of webpages rather than treating them as static images. This efficiency accelerates the browsing process significantly.

Moreover, the Operator effectively interacts with elements that might be overlooked by users, such as pop-ups and verification prompts. If it encounters steps requiring user action, it will prompt the individual to temporarily take control.

Opera describes its process as a “human-in-the-loop” methodology, where users can either navigate the webpage themselves or input necessary details directly into the Operator chat interface. It’s essential to note that at no point does the Operator retain any data, as that information is intended solely for processing by the website.

The Browser Operator is currently in its preview stage, with plans for a feature rollout in the “near future.” It’s worth mentioning that Opera isn’t the only player in the field; OpenAI has also created its version called Operator, and Gemini Deep Research offers another web-centric agentic AI solution.

OpenAI Unveils Operator AI for Task Automation in Booking and Shopping

OpenAI has introduced Operator, an innovative AI agent that can independently perform tasks online.

This development is a significant advancement in the company’s mission to improve AI agents, a technology that Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, has described as essential for the future by 2025.

Operator is a versatile AI tool capable of executing a variety of online tasks, including booking travel, making restaurant reservations, and shopping.

Initially, it will be available to US users subscribed to the $200 Pro plan, with plans to extend the research preview to users on Plus, Team, and Enterprise plans in the near future.

OpenAI also aims to broaden access to more regions, although users in Europe will need to wait a bit longer. The tool can be accessed at the dedicated site, operator.chatgpt.com, with intentions for future integration into all ChatGPT platforms.

Operator operates by controlling a specialized web browser, allowing it to perform tasks autonomously.

Users can observe the process, which mimics human interactions on websites, such as navigating menus, pressing buttons, and completing forms.

Powered by OpenAI’s Computer-Using Agent (CUA) model, Operator combines the visual capabilities of GPT-4 with sophisticated reasoning skills. This model can manage a wide array of online tasks without the need for developer-facing APIs.

Its features extend to shopping, delivery services, dining, and travel bookings, with partnerships established with companies such as DoorDash, eBay, Instacart, Priceline, StubHub, and Uber to comply with their terms of service.

Before completing any action that has external consequences—like making purchases or sending emails—the CUA will request user confirmation, allowing users to review the actions beforehand.

Despite its advanced functionalities, OpenAI is aware that the CUA has limitations. Currently, Operator finds it challenging to manage complex or specialized tasks, such as creating intricate slideshows or overseeing detailed calendar systems.

Tasks that involve highly customized or non-standard web interfaces can also be problematic. Furthermore, activities like banking transactions necessitate user oversight to ensure they are conducted accurately.

While Operator can handle a broad range of tasks independently, OpenAI has implemented certain security protocols to mitigate the risk of misuse.

For instance, users must enter sensitive information such as credit card numbers manually, and for particularly sensitive activities like checking email, active supervision is required to prevent unnoticed errors.

There are also certain restrictions on the number of tasks Operator can execute. OpenAI has instituted dynamic rate limits for simultaneous tasks, along with an overall daily usage cap.

Additionally, some operations such as sending emails and deleting calendar events are restricted for security reasons, although these limitations may be revised in the future.

While Operator is OpenAI’s most advanced AI agent thus far, its development has been relatively slow compared to competitors like Rabbit, Google, and Anthropic. The advancement of such technologies raises serious safety concerns, especially regarding potential misuse.

To address these risks, OpenAI has incorporated safeguards into Operator, including monitoring systems that halt operations if suspicious actions are detected, along with ongoing updates to its security measures.

The launch of Operator signifies a landmark achievement in the evolution of AI agents, regarded as the next significant leap in artificial intelligence. Unlike conventional virtual assistants like Siri or Alexa, AI agents possess the ability to execute actions and tasks autonomously, reshaping how users interact with online services and the digital landscape.
