Digital Phablet – Erkan Kolçak Köstendil is making his return to the big screen with a new comedy film titled Çare Messi, which has already started generating excitement in Turkey.
Well known for notable performances in Çukur, Ulan İstanbul, and Yaratılan, Köstendil is taking on multiple roles in this project—he penned the screenplay and will also star in the film. What makes Çare Messi particularly personal for him is its connection to football.
Before establishing himself as one of Turkey’s top actors, Erkan Kolçak Köstendil was passionately involved in football. As a young athlete, he played as a goalkeeper and was part of Bursaspor’s youth academy. Media outlets in Turkey suggest the film draws inspiration from this chapter of his life, blending his love of football with comedy.
The movie is being produced by Polat Yağcı, a producer currently among the most prolific in Turkish cinema. The director, Can Ulkay—known for works including Ayla—is at the helm of this project. Filming is scheduled to start in June.
The cast lineup has been a major topic among fans, with Ferit Kaya officially onboard after his recent standout role in Uzak Şehir. Reuniting with Köstendil, Taner Ölmez is also part of the cast, having previously worked with him on Netflix’s Yaratılan.
Veteran actor Cengiz Bozkurt has also joined the cast, adding another familiar face to the lineup.
According to Turkish media reports, more surprise cast members are expected to be announced in the upcoming weeks. Plot details are still under wraps, but the film is described as a football-themed comedy with both heartfelt and entertaining elements. Its title immediately caught attention, especially due to its reference to football legend Lionel Messi.
Combining comedy, football, and a strong ensemble cast, Çare Messi is among the most anticipated Turkish films of the upcoming season. With filming set to commence in June, it’s shaping up to be one of the most notable releases to watch in Turkish cinema.
Expectations are high for this project to deliver both laughs and emotional depth, making it a must-see for fans of both comedy and football.
