    Naughty Dog Tackles Pacing Issues in The Last of Us Part 2

    The Last of Us Part 2 is well-made, but some players find that the game’s use of flashbacks can interrupt moments of high tension. This feedback is subjective, but Naughty Dog has responded by creating a new mode that lets players experience the story in chronological order instead of the original non-linear setup.

    In a post on the PlayStation Blog, Naughty Dog explained their reasoning for this new mode.

    Linear Storytelling

    The studio mentioned, “Players who have played the game know it tells its story in a non-linear way, with flashbacks showing Ellie and Abby’s motivations and emotional arcs. While this choice is intentional and reflects our themes, we often thought about what it would be like to play the story straight through. Now we can answer that question.”

    They added, “With the new Chronological mode, players will get a closer look at Part II’s story. They will notice how Ellie receiving a guitar connects to her learning to play it, and see the parallels between Ellie and Abby’s adventures in Seattle, including how they influence each other.”

    Creating this mode was not as easy as rearranging scenes, especially since gameplay mechanics change in the story. Naughty Dog emphasized that they aimed to provide experienced players with a fresh way to enjoy the narrative.

    The studio encourages new players to experience the game in its original format before trying the chronological mode.

    This new mode also introduces trophies, which, when completed, will reward players with outfits for Joel inspired by Nathan Drake. Admittedly, Joel may not wear them as well as Nathan does.

    The patch that adds chronological mode is available now.

    The Last of Us Part 1 delivers exciting gameplay and compelling mechanics, featuring a variety of cheats and exploits. The game is packed with numerous hidden tricks that can ease the challenges.

    These exploits went unpatched during the original release and are still present in the remastered version. This guide includes all the cheats and exploits found throughout the game.

    Create Unlimited Shivs

    Shivs are useful for unlocking doors, collecting supplements, and serve as silent weapons for sneaking up on enemies. Each shiv can be utilized up to three times. However, with this exploit, you can create unlimited shivs in The Last of Us Part 1.

    To execute this trick, equip an upgraded melee weapon before entering Bill’s Town. Then, swap the upgraded weapon for a non-upgraded one, granting you a free binding and blade. Continue this swapping process to generate unlimited bindings and blades for crafting shivs.

    Note that this exploit was fixed for some players in patch 1.11. If you want to utilize this method, you’ll need to downgrade your game to version 1.0.

    Unlimited Ammo and Supplies

    Finding ammo and supplies can be a challenge, especially on hard difficulty. Luckily, there’s a simple cheat that can assist you. The Last of Us Part 1 allows players to change the difficulty level at any time during gameplay. This means you can gather all the ammo and supplies on easy difficulty before switching back to hard.

    This method allows you to stockpile enough ammunition for your El Diablo.

    Access Any Difficulty for NG+

    You can unlock any difficulty for New Game Plus mode with the following steps:

    1. Complete the game once to unlock New Game+.
    2. Progress to Chapter 2, pause the game, and quit.
    3. From the main menu, navigate to chapters and select the first chapter; then choose your desired difficulty.

    The Last of Us Part 1 features several enhancements and alterations you can make, including filters, skins, cheat codes, and speedruns.

    To access these cheats, you must complete the game at least once and purchase cheats in-game. After that, just follow these steps:
