    Mega Evolution is the main feature in Pokémon Champions, and anyone who has played Pokémon Legends Z-A or used Mega Evolution knows how much this mechanic can turn a battle around. When a Pokémon Mega Evolves, it transforms into a new form that changes many of its qualities.

    Since Mega Evolution is a key part of battles in Pokémon Champions, you’ll want to find Mega Stones for your favorite Pokémon and equip them to enable Mega Evolution during fights. Here’s what you need to know to get ready for Mega Evolutions in your next match.

    ### How to Obtain Mega Stones

    You can get Mega Stones either through the Battle Pass or by buying them in the Frontier shop.

    For the Season M-1 Battle Pass, there’s only one free Mega Stone, which is Dragoninite. All other Mega Stones require unlocking the Premium Battle Pass.

    In the Frontier Shop menu, you’ll find the Mega Stones section, where every available stone is displayed. Each Mega Stone costs 2,000 VP.

    You can also transfer Pokémon from Pokémon Home into Pokémon Champions, which sometimes grants you the corresponding Mega Stones. This method works for Pokémon like Chesnaught, Greninja, Delphox, and Floette transferred from Pokémon Legends: Z-A.

    ### How to Equip Mega Stones

    Once you have a Mega Stone, you need to equip it to your Pokémon:

    – Go to your Pokémon box and select the Pokémon you want to give a Mega Stone to.
    – Choose “Give an item to hold.”
    – Use the L or R buttons to scroll through options until you reach the Mega Stones.
    – Select the appropriate Mega Stone to give it to your Pokémon.

    Afterward, you’ll see the Mega Stone displayed next to your Pokémon in the team menu, indicating it’s equipped. When you head into battle, your Pokémon will be ready to Mega Evolve.

    ### How to Mega Evolve in Battle

    During a battle, you’ll want to choose the right moment to Mega Evolve. When it’s your turn:

    – Tap “Fight,” and in the options, you’ll see a prompt to press R to Mega Evolve.
    – Press R, and your Pokémon will Mega Evolve into its new form.

    Keep in mind, you can only Mega Evolve once per battle, so plan carefully when to use this powerful move.

    Glimmora can appear in Rock or Poison Hyperspace Wild Zones and can be caught there.

    It appears in a 4-star Unknown Hyperspace Dimension with an “Unidentified Mega Stone Detected!” message. Once defeated in hyperspace battles, players earn the Mega Stone for Mega Evolution.

    Raichu X appears in a Hyperspace Side Mission near Map Zone 20, available after completing specific story and trade Side Missions. You need to trade Canari Bread for Popping Candy, then bring it to Ansha for the Plasma Donut recipe to unlock the encounter.

    Similar to Raichu X, Pichu, Pikachu, and Raichu can be caught in various zones.

    Pokemon Legends: Z-A features a total of 230 Pokémon in the main game. Among these, Absol stands out as one of the strongest Dark-type Pokémon. Not only is Absol one of the coolest Mega Evolutions available, but it also becomes a dependable teammate once you reach the mid-game after progressing far enough in the story.

    There are multiple ways to obtain an Absol, enabling players to hunt shiny versions once they’ve advanced sufficiently through the game. Below are all the methods to get an Absol in Pokemon Legends: Z-A.

    ### How To Get An Absol & Absolite

    The first Absol you can add to your team is accessible after completing Main Mission 009: Chase That Mysterious Pokémon. During this mission, you follow Zygarde in Lumiose City until it leads you to a rogue Mega Absol fight. You’ll face Absol using a Mega Lucario that’s lent to you by AZ.

    After defeating the rogue Mega Absol, you can add the Pokémon to your team and receive the Absolite Mega stone. This item allows Absol to evolve into Mega Absol. The Absol you receive at this stage is level 30 and is likely to be a powerful member of your team at that point.

    ### Where Can You Find Absol In The Wild?

    Aside from the Absol and Absolite guaranteed through story missions, you can also find Absol in certain locations across Lumiose City. These spots make for challenging shiny hunts because they’re not part of the regular Wild Zone encounters but are your only options if you want to hunt a shiny Absol.

    Mega Evolution is a key feature in Pokémon Legends: Z-A. While new players will be eager to try this mechanic, longtime fans will be interested in all the new forms introduced. However, the rules for Mega Evolution have changed from previous games.

    Getting a handle on Mega Evolution in this game is essential for progressing smoothly. In the past, Mega Evolution allowed you to overpower opponents easily, but now there are more limits, such as time restrictions and costs. As with many aspects of Lumiose City, success depends on balancing resources and timing.

    What Is Mega Evolution?

    Mega Evolution is a mechanic that temporarily boosts a Pokémon’s stats and overall strength by evolving it beyond its usual form. It’s a short-term change that lasts during a battle, after which the Pokémon reverts to its normal, fully evolved form.

    For most Pokémon, Mega Evolution increases their stats by around 100 points. Some Pokémon, like Ampharos and Altaria, may also change their type when Mega Evolving.

    Note: Pokémon that can Mega Evolve in one or two stages generally have higher total stats compared to others because their Mega forms were originally designed around abilities (which are absent in Legends: Z-A). To keep balance, these Pokémon often receive extra stat bonuses.

    How Mega Evolution Works

    Mega Evolutions are triggered by using Mega Stones (also called Keystones). These special items are stored in your inventory and can be held by Pokémon matching their type.

    You can acquire Mega Stones through three main methods:

    1. Completing story missions.
    2. Trading Mega Shards at Quasartico Inc.
    3. Purchasing them with in-game currency at Stone Emporium.

    How To Use Mega Evolution

    You gain access to Mega Evolution after progressing enough in the game. Specifically, you need to reach Rank V and start Main Mission 09: “Chase that Mysterious Pokémon!” At this point, you’ll face Mega Absol and earn your first Mega Stone and Mega Bracelet, which are needed to Mega Evolve Pokémon.

    To Mega Evolve a Pokémon, two conditions must be met:

    1. The Pokémon must be fully evolved for its line.
    2. The corresponding Mega Stone must be equipped to that Pokémon.

    During battle, you will see a meter in the bottom right corner of the screen that indicates your ability to Mega Evolve.

    While Mega Evolution used to last an entire battle, in this game it’s governed by a timer. Your Mega Meter drains while in Mega form and refills when you Return to normal. You can Mega Evolve multiple times within a battle by attacking opponents or collecting Mega Power from the ground when fighting Rogue Mega Evolved Pokémon.

    Note: Rogue Mega Evolved Pokémon are boss-type enemies in the main story. When defeated, they shed large chunks of Mega Power, which you can pick up to refill your meter. Stunning these bosses can lead to even larger Mega Power pickups.

    What Are Plus Moves?

    Plus Moves are powerful moves that deal extra damage or effects but cost Mega Power from your Mega Meter. Only moves that a Pokémon has mastered (indicated by a G+ symbol) qualify as Plus Moves.

    Moves learned naturally through leveling become mastered once your Pokémon reaches sufficient levels. TM-taught moves can be mastered by giving a Seed of Mastery to Josée from the Fist of Justice team.

    Pokémon That Can Mega Evolve

    There are 65 Pokémon that can Mega Evolve in Legends: Z-A. Many are returning from the sixth generation games, with some new additions introduced in the ninth generation. Pokémon that are new to this list are highlighted in green.

    How to Trigger Mega Evolution

    Mega Evolution becomes available after reaching a significant point in the game, specifically after early progress and reaching Rank V. You also need to start Main Mission 09, “Chase that Mysterious Pokémon!”, where you’ll face Mega Absol and receive your first Mega Stone and Mega Bracelet.

    To Mega Evolve a Pokémon in battle:

    • The Pokémon must be its fully evolved form.
    • The correct Mega Stone must be equipped.
    • You need to have sufficient Mega Power, indicated by the meter.

    In battle, you can Mega Evolve more than once by attacking or gathering Mega Power from the environment. The Mega Meter drains over time when in Mega form and replenishes when you revert.

    Gaining Mega Power involves:

    • Successfully attacking opponents (without Mega Evolving).
    • Picking up Mega Power shards dropped by Rogue Mega Pokémon during fights; stunning these enemies results in larger shards, which can refill your meter more significantly.

    This system emphasizes timing and resource management during battles, contrasting with the straightforward Mega Evolution from earlier generations.
