Unlocking the Free Wolverine Patch Costume: A Quick Guide

The legendary X-Men character Wolverine showcases various outfits in Marvel Rivals, but his newest look, “Patch,” is exclusively available through the ongoing Season 2 event. This unique costume includes an eyepatch and a stylish white suit, paying homage to a well-known comic design. If you’re keen to have Logan make a statement at the Hellfire Gala, unlocking this costume is a must.

The “Patch” skin for Wolverine stands out as one of the few Hellfire Gala outfits not part of the Season 2 Battle Pass for Marvel Rivals. Similar to the Flora Maiden costume for Mantis, you must join a seasonal event to unlock Wolverine’s skin. While this might take a bit longer than advancing through the Battle Pass, it comes at no cost.

How To Earn The Patch Wolverine Skin

Complete Three Acts of the Seasonal Event

The only method to obtain the Patch skin for Wolverine is to participate in the Hellfire Gala Moments seasonal event. This event consists of three separate “Acts” occurring at different times, allowing players to earn the free costume as their primary reward. Although the duration to acquire the Patch skin is limited, it is spread out over a longer period than you might expect.

The seasonal content featuring the Patch costume launches on May 2, 2025, and will run for at least one to two weeks. To get the Wolverine costume, players must complete three distinct Gala Missions linked to each Act of the event. Below is a table outlining each mission, its corresponding Act, and how to fulfill the requirements to obtain the Patch skin:

    Gala Mission

    Event Act

    How To Complete

    Visit 3 Gala Attractions

    Act 1 – Explore Krakoa

Complete mission objectives to unlock Island Attractions and currency in Marvel Rivals.

    Get 4 Gala Gifts

Act 2 – Hellfire Trading Company Gifts

Complete mission objectives to earn X-Coins used to purchase Hellfire Trading Company gift packs containing various cosmetic rewards.

Cast 10 Votes for Your Gala Star

Act 3 – Gala Star Vote

Complete mission objectives to gather Voting Tokens, which can be spent to vote for the character deemed “Best Dressed” at this year’s Hellfire Gala.

Completing all three missions in each Act of the Hellfire Gala Moments event will unlock the Patch Wolverine skin for free, with no extra requirements. As of now, it’s uncertain when the various Acts of the event will unlock for players, but each is likely to be staggered over a few days.

In the third Act of the Hellfire Gala Moments event, you’ll have the chance to vote for Wolverine’s Patch skin as the “Best Dressed” look among seven other characters. The character winning the Hellfire Gala vote will receive a new skin for the following year’s event!

Considering previous events in Marvel Rivals, it’s probable that the mission objectives in each Act will include some familiar tasks, such as:

    • Complete a specific number of matches
    • Play matches as a designated character, utilizing their unique abilities
    • Block a certain amount of damage during a match
    • Deal a specified amount of damage in a match
    • Achieve a certain number of Eliminations, Assists, or Healing

No matter what missions you need to accomplish, the Competitive, Quick Play, and Vs. AI modes will assist you in meeting each Act’s challenges. Once you’ve engaged in all aspects of the Hellfire Gala Moments event, securing the Patch costume for Wolverine in Marvel Rivals should be straightforward.

  • Complete Guide to Season 2 Buffs and Nerfs

Complete Guide to Season 2 Buffs and Nerfs

In Season 2 of Marvel Rivals, various characters have experienced buffs and nerfs, enhancing the power of some heroes while others have been balanced to align with the overall strength of the game roster. This update also introduces tweaks to general mechanics and Team-Ups, leading to modifications in many characters’ abilities. As a result, the effectiveness of team compositions may shift, unlocking new synergies driven by a mix of buffs and nerfs.

The Season 2 update also welcomes Emma Frost as the new Vanguard character, introducing a fresh Team-Up with Magneto and Psylocke. Changes to Emma’s abilities won’t manifest until the mid-season update in Season 2.5. Her strength will be reassessed with the arrival of Ultron during this update, potentially resulting in additional buffs or nerfs based on her performance relative to other heroes.

    All Universal Changes Explained

New Currency Systems and Various Mode Adjustments

In contrast to Season 1, a number of universal changes have impacted existing game modes and currency systems in Marvel Rivals, altering what players have come to expect. To begin, every player’s Competitive Rank has been reduced by nine positions, effectively resetting your status at the start of this new Season. Players will need to work their way back up through the ranks to reclaim previous standings.

As of Season 2, the selection of maps available in Competitive mode has been trimmed. Players will now face off on only four maps, including the newly added Krakoa: Hellfire Gala Domination map.

The developers’ Season 2 Roadmap points out that another significant change involves the adjustments to Team-Up abilities. Two Team-Ups have been removed, while some characters have been added or removed from others. This extensive set of Team-Up modifications is detailed in the “Heroes” menu of the game.

One of the most notable adjustments is in how players acquire Chrono Tokens, Lattice, and Units through in-game challenges. Weekly missions and character-specific challenges have been split into separate categories, providing new avenues to earn in-game currency for acquiring cosmetics. Furthermore, with the introduction of a new currency type, Unstable Molecules, players now have additional resources to customize character costumes with unique colors.

    All Characters Buffs & Nerfs

    Changes in Hero Strength

Not all characters from the Duelist, Vanguard, or Strategist categories received adjustments. However, those that did undergo change experienced various balance modifications that affected different aspects of their abilities. The changes to characters can be categorized as follows:

    • Modification of an existing ability (altered cooldown, damage adjustments, etc.)
    • Change in a character’s health (increased or decreased)
    • Adjustments to an Ultimate ability’s charge time (prolonged or shortened)

Season 2’s character changes either resulted in a Buff, Nerf, or Neutral adjustment for the heroes based on the aggregate of their updates. For instance, a character might experience a nerf in one ability but receive a health boost to maintain viability within various team compositions.

Below are the specifics of each character’s changes for Season 2, categorized by whether they were Buffed, Nerfed, or remained Neutral:

    Every Vanguard Buffs & Nerfs

Character Season 2 Status All Changes
Captain America Nerfed Decreased overall resilience; Base health reduced from 675 to 650; Shield value of Living Legend cut from 400 to 350.
Doctor Strange Nerfed Reduced offensive capabilities; Daggers of Denak damage per projectile decreased; Conversion ratio of Dark Magic to damage reduced.
Hulk Buffed Base movement speed increased from 600 to 650; Reduced cooldown for Indestructible Guard ability; Decreased minimum charge for Incredible Leap.
Magneto Nerfed Increased energy cost for Meteor M Ultimate ability.
Peni Parker Buffed Primary fire can trigger Critical Hits on headshots; Reduced movement speed penalty during primary attack; Base health increased from 650 to 750.
The Thing Nerfed Reduced Embattled Leap’s damage reduction for himself and allies.
Thor Buffed Base health raised from 525 to 650; Base movement speed increased from 600 to 650.

Vanguards experienced minimal changes, but those who were adjusted saw considerable impacts. Doctor Strange faced significant nerfs, while Peni Parker received impactful buffs that enhance both damage output and survivability. Given that Vanguards serve as the backbone of any team in Marvel Rivals, these shifts could significantly influence the success of specific synergies in Season 2.

    Every Duelist Buffs & Nerfs

Character Season 2 Status All Changes
Black Widow Buffed Can shoot directly after second kick of Edge Dancer; Can shoot after using Electro-Plasma Explosion Ultimate.
Hawkeye Buffed Reduced slow effect when charging bow shots; Increased damage from Hypersonic Arrow; Decreased energy cost for Hunter’s Sight Ultimate.
Hela Neutral Increased cooldown for Astral Flock ability; Increased spell field damage for Piercing Night ability; Decreased cooldown for Soul Drainer ability.
Human Torch Buffed Reduced attack interval for Fire Cluster; Advanced timing of primary attack projectile; Gains degrading Bonus Health after using Flaming Meteor.
Iron Man Buffed Slightly reduced hitbox size; 100 Bonus Health gained when activating Armor or Gamma Overdrive.
Iron Fist Neutral Adjustments to Bonus Health and damage outputs; Reduced cooldown for K’un-Lun Kick ability.
Mister Fantastic Buffed Increased base health from 350 to 375; Elevated damage from Stretch Punch primary attack.
Moon Knight Buffed Improved speed of Crescent Dart projectile; Bonus Health from Moon Blade projectile increased; Shortened start-up time of Moonlight Hook ability.
Scarlet Witch Buffed Fixed damage from Chaos Control increased; Enhanced damage output for Chtonian Burst.
Star-Lord Nerfed Reduced damage for Blaster Barrage; Introduced damage falloff mechanic to Blaster Barrage ability.
Winter Soldier Nerfed Increased cooldown for Bionic Hook ability; Decreased base damage for Kraken Impact Ultimate.
Wolverine Neutral Adjustments to Rage gain mechanics based on various abilities and attacks.

The majority of Duelist characters saw buffs in Season 2, particularly those that previously struggled. Notably, both Human Torch and Mister Fantastic received essential updates to their abilities. With multiple Duelists now being viable choices, predicting which ones will dominate will prove challenging.

    Every Strategist Buffs & Nerfs

Character Season 2 Status All Changes
Adam Warlock Neutral Increased cooldown for Soul Bond ability; Karmic Revival Ultimate now restores 30% health to fallen allies.
Cloak & Dagger Nerfed Healing zones from Eternal Bond Ultimate no longer stack.
Invisible Woman Nerfed Guardian Shield’s effectiveness decreased from 300 to 250.
Loki Nerfed Cooldown for Regeneration Domain increased from 25 to 30 seconds.
Mantis Neutral Base health reduction from 275 to 250; Stacking effects of Healing Flower or Allied Inspiration allowed.
Rocket Raccoon Neutral Adjustments to Repair Mode spheres, including reduced healing area and speed.

Strategist characters in Marvel Rivals have seen significant nerfs or adjustments in Season 2, likely aimed at counteracting the dominant “Triple Support” meta from the previous season. Despite major changes, some characters stand out as more powerful than before, with Rocket Raccoon’s healing capabilities notably enhanced.

The extensive list of adjustments may influence the best strategies for various characters, so players are encouraged to experiment with different heroes to discover optimal play styles. Although the nerfs and buffs for Season 2 of Marvel Rivals are significant, many characters can still perform exceptionally well in matches if players understand their strengths and weaknesses.

  • Marvel Showdown: Creative Ways to Personalize Costumes

Marvel Showdown: Creative Ways to Personalize Costumes

On April 17, 2025, Marvel Rivals released an exciting new feature that enables players to customize colors for specific character skins they already own. Previously, skins would only feature a single design visible during MVP animations, emotes, and other actions. Now, with this customization option, you can alter the appearance of the skins you’ve purchased to add a personal touch.

At the moment, only four skins in the game offer color customization. While the selection is currently limited, the developers have expressed their intention to introduce more recolored skins in future updates for Seasons 2.5, 3, and beyond. The developers are also open to making adjustments to the customization process based on player feedback as the game evolves.

How Does Costume Customization Work In Marvel Rivals?

Change How Characters Look From Non-Default Outfits

The customization feature in Marvel Rivals is activated once you purchase a skin for your character. Custom colors apply to specific outfits that developers have designated, so not every skin for a character will have this option. It’s still uncertain if Default costumes will receive the majority of these custom colors, as currently only a few alternative looks come with additional color options.

Marvel Rivals: Cerebro Database Event & Rewards Guide

The latest limited-time event in Marvel Rivals is the Cerebro Database in Season 2, where you can complete objectives for a free Mantis skin.

As of April 2025, here are the custom colors that are currently available along with the corresponding skins in Marvel Rivals:

    • Magik (Punkchild) – Rosy Resilience
    • Luna Snow (Mirae 2099) – Plasma Pulse
    • Psylocke (Vengeance) – Phantom Purple
    • Winter Soldier (Blood Soldier) – Winter’s Wraith

To customize any skins with recolors, you must first purchase the skins offering custom options. You cannot unlock a custom color unless you already own the associated skin. Acquiring these skins may require real-world currency depending on the Units or Lattice you currently possess.

A practical method to obtain a skin linked to custom colors is through the Costume Coin you earn in Marvel Rivals‘ Pick-Up Bundle event. By progressing through the Bundle, you can spend the Coin to acquire the Psylocke Vengeance skin for free, although without the new custom color.

After securing the necessary skins, the custom colors will be visible in the “Heroes” menu for those characters. Once unlocked, you can switch colors from a skin’s default design, influencing their animations. Consequently, that particular skin will display the custom color in various contexts, such as menus, MVP animations, and emotes.

    How To Unlock Custom Colors

Purchase New Currency By Exchanging Lattice

After purchasing the correct skin, you will need to use a new in-game currency called Unstable Molecules to unlock a custom color for a character. Unstable Molecules cannot be gained through in-game activities, so don’t waste your time trying to earn them by playing matches. This currency is only obtainable by exchanging gold Lattice in Marvel Rivals at a 1:1 ratio.

Customized color costumes require 600 Unstable Molecules, which is approximately two-thirds the cost of the Luxury Battle Pass. Since you cannot purchase custom colors using Units or Chrono Tokens, you may need to spend real money to unlock them.

According to the Marvel Rivals developers, additional ways to earn Unstable Molecules will be introduced in Season 3, allowing players to unlock more custom colors in the future.

To buy a custom color, navigate to the “Heroes” menu and select the hero with a skin offering unique color options. After choosing a character with at least one custom color, enter the “Customize” menu of the Hero Profile to view their skins. Select a skin to reveal the “Customize” option above the “Equip” prompt, where you can toggle between the purchased colors.

Additionally, you can switch colors while selecting a character before or during a match. If you opt to play as a character with a custom skin, a second dropdown menu will appear next to the costume selection bar. This allows you to easily toggle between custom colors you’ve unlocked for that specific skin.

After amassing enough Unstable Molecules, you can purchase available custom colors via the in-game Store or through a character’s Hero Profile. Once you buy a custom color in Marvel Rivals, it remains unlocked permanently, just like other cosmetics in the game.

  • Unlocking Chrono Tokens, Units, and Lattice: Your Guide

Unlocking Chrono Tokens, Units, and Lattice: Your Guide

Understanding Currency in Marvel Rivals Season 2

Marvel Rivals offers a variety of cosmetic items, each purchasable via different types of in-game currency, such as Chrono Tokens, Units, and Lattice. With the start of Season 2, the methods for earning these currencies have changed. Some currencies are now easier to acquire, while others may be a bit more challenging. To maximize your earnings without spending too much real money, it’s essential to be aware of the new updates.

Chrono Tokens (purple), Units (blue), and Lattice (gold) can all be obtained simply by participating in matches. However, the second season has introduced significant changes to characters and the overall reward system that impacts how you earn these currencies. While some aspects remain familiar, you’ll need to adapt your strategy to effectively gather the most currency.

How to Earn Chrono Tokens in Season 2

Complete Missions and Participate in Events

The purple Chrono Tokens are primarily used to acquire items from the new Hellfire Gala Battle Pass. This Battle Pass includes 11 pages of rewards featuring a plethora of new skins for your favorite characters, but you’ll need to accumulate a specific number of Tokens to unlock each new page. Rewards from both the Free and Luxury versions of the Pass are only available in exchange for the Chrono Tokens you collect.

Going into Season 2, here are some effective ways to earn Chrono Tokens:

    • Finish Daily Missions
    • Complete Weekly Missions
    • Achieve reward tiers in various events
    • Complete unique challenges within matches

Daily and Weekly missions have been revamped for the new season, presenting more straightforward objectives than those seen in previous seasons. Daily missions may involve simple actions, such as using specific Sprays or supporting your teammates with upvotes after a match, with each mission rewarding you roughly 30 Chrono Tokens.

Events consistently provide opportunities to earn Chrono Tokens by completing objectives tied to event themes. For instance, the new Cerebro Database event focuses on Emma Frost, a new character introduced this season.

Weekly Missions have shifted from heavily character-specific tasks to more streamlined goals that reward you for actions like finishing matches, winning games, dealing damage, or taking damage. Although completing these missions may take longer, the Chrono Tokens earned are generally more substantial.

Challenges introduce a new dimension to rewards, following a similar format to previous Weekly Missions. Some challenges will require you to play specific characters or fulfill particular roles, which encourages experimentation. For example, you might need to deal damage as a Duelist or deliver healing as a Strategist.

How to Earn Units in Season 2

Participate in Events and Exchange Currency

While Chrono Tokens can be used for Battle Pass items, Units serve as the blue currency used to buy skins for your characters. With many new skins available this season, you’ll need a healthy supply of Units for some of the pricier cosmetics.

Here are some common methods to earn Units in Marvel Rivals:

    • Complete various event objectives
    • Exchange leftover Chrono Tokens for Units after finishing the Battle Pass
    • Convert Lattice into Units through purchases

Events are among the easiest ways to accumulate Units, often providing small amounts of Units for completing objectives. For example, finishing a character profile during the Season 2 Cerebro Database event grants you 75 Units.

A new feature introduced in Season 1.5 allows you to exchange Chrono Tokens for Units after completing every page of the Battle Pass. Once you reach the final rewards page, you can trade in 1,000 Chrono Tokens for 100 Units.

It may take some time to gather enough Chrono Tokens to convert into Units, but this method provides a no-cost way to accumulate more Units. Normally, after completing the Battle Pass, Chrono Tokens have limited use, but with this new option, maintaining your Token earnings becomes more valuable.

How to Earn Lattice in Season 2

    Purchase To Acquire

The third currency, Lattice, is represented by gold. Unfortunately, there are no new avenues for earning Lattice this season; it still can’t be earned through in-game objectives. Players must spend real money to acquire Lattice to purchase skins and other cosmetics.

You can earn Lattice through the Season 2 Battle Pass on specific pages that offer Lattice in exchange for Chrono Tokens. Some pages allow you to obtain 100 Lattice for 200 Chrono Tokens, making it an accessible way to boost your funds for purchases.

If you’re not keen on spending real money for Lattice, consider obtaining the Costume Coin from the ongoing Pick-Up Bundle in Marvel Rivals. This coin allows you to claim one costume from a select list at no cost.

Different amounts of Lattice are available for purchase in the store for real-world money, providing a last-resort option for those eager for a particular cosmetic. However, by mastering how to earn substantial amounts of Chrono Tokens and Units, players can reduce their reliance on buying Lattice for their desired items in Marvel Rivals.

Marvel Rivals: Season 2 Unveils the Cerebro Database Event

Season 2 of Marvel Rivals is packed with exciting new features, including the Cerebro Database event that allows players to earn a free skin for Mantis. Currently, this four-part event has one page accessible for players, where they can collect in-game currency by finishing specific objectives during matches. As additional sections unlock, you can look forward to earning even more rewards before the event wraps up.

The Cerebro Database event is reminiscent of previous limited-time events, such as Galacta’s Cosmic Adventure and the ongoing Pick-Up Bundle in Marvel Rivals. Mark your calendars: the event runs from April 11 to May 9, 2025, after which the available rewards will no longer be accessible. This is a great opportunity to avoid spending real money, as you can gain new cosmetics and a wealth of in-game currency by participating.

What Is the Cerebro Database Event?

The Cerebro Database event kicks off Season 2 by inviting players to dive into fresh content revolving around the Hellfire Gala on Krakoa. Throughout this event, you will unlock pages that focus on particular mutant characters and expand your knowledge about them. Using Cerebro, a device that enhances the abilities of psychic mutants, you’ll explore the profiles of significant characters.

Challenges in the Cerebro Database event are centered around the living island of Krakoa, which features three maps available for Domination match types. Completing matches and objectives on the Krakoa: Hellfire Gala map will help you earn rewards. Additionally, if you play as the new Vanguard character, Emma Frost, you’ll also acquire some exclusive items.

You can explore four character pages throughout the event. One is dedicated to Emma Frost, while the others feature Wolverine, Namor, and Black Panther. Future objectives may involve these additional characters, too.

Each page in the Cerebro Database will unlock automatically as the event progresses, so you won’t need to meet any prerequisites to access other character profiles. There are nine missions for each character page, with rewards outlined for each. The missions are arranged in a 3×3 grid, and completing them allows you to clear challenges horizontally or vertically.

    Completing the Cerebro Database Event

To finish the Cerebro Database event, simply complete all the missions on each character’s profile page. Since there are nine missions for every character, you’ll need to accomplish a total of 36 objectives related to those profiles. For instance, one mission on Emma Frost’s page requires you to read her Lore, which can be completed by checking out the character in the Heroes menu.

To give you an idea of what tasks you can undertake on Emma Frost’s page, here are the current challenges:

    1. Defeat 60 enemies in Quick Match, Competitive, or Practice vs. AI.
    2. View Challenge 1 during the event period.
    3. complete five matches in Quick Match, Competitive, or Practice vs. AI.
    4. Deal 10,000 damage using Emma Frost in Quick Match, Competitive, or Practice vs. AI.
    5. Take 20,000 damage as Emma Frost in Quick Match, Competitive, or Practice vs. AI.
    6. Read Emma Frost’s Lore: Forged in Hellfire.
    7. Secure 40 assists in Quick Match, Competitive, or Practice vs. AI.
    8. Win one match on the Krakoa: Hellfire Gala map.
    9. Stun 10 enemies with Psionic Seduction as Emma Frost in Quick Match, Competitive, or Practice vs. AI.

With the character changes introduced in Marvel Rivals Season 2, these goals should easily be achievable across a few matches. Emma Frost’s missions encourage you to play as her to complete her specific challenges. As other pages become available, you’ll likely need to play different characters to complete the themed missions associated with those profiles.

If you’re having difficulty tracking the mission challenges on a character’s page, you can also navigate to the Missions menu in the Season tab. You’ll find it as the second tab from the bottom, nestled between the Battlepass and Event sections.

You’ll be pleased to know that you don’t need to complete every mission to finish the event. You only have to fill out three rows, columns, or lines in whatever arrangement best suits your completion strategy. Connecting three tasks on a page will unlock one of three available rewards, and completing the profile will grant you the final gift.

Rewards from the Cerebro Database Event

Each character page in the Cerebro Database event presents various rewards, but finishing all character profiles will net you the Flora Maiden Mantis skin. Alongside the new skins from the Season 2 Battle Pass, this cosmetic is a rare design for Mantis that will only be available for a limited time.

Here’s a sneak peek at some additional rewards you can earn from completing missions on a character’s profile:

    • Chrono Tokens (Purple Currency)
    • Gallery Cards
    • Units (Blue Currency)
    • Sprays

The Gallery Cards offered during the event provide vital context for the Season 2 storyline, including Ultron’s invasion of Krakoa. Meanwhile, the Chrono Tokens can be used to redeem rewards from the Battle Pass, giving you additional cosmetics for your favorite characters. Units are useful for purchasing the Pass itself or securing a long-sought skin.

With the changes brought in Season 2, Chrono Tokens can now be earned more easily from daily and weekly tasks, which are no longer as restrictive regarding character or role selection. Nevertheless, this currency is still harder to acquire frequently, making the tokens obtained from the Cerebro Database particularly advantageous.

The unique cosmetics from this event won’t likely return anytime soon after it concludes, especially as new events roll out. While it may take some time to complete character profiles, the rewards from the Cerebro Database event in Marvel Rivals are certainly worthwhile, especially for the exclusive Mantis skin.

  • Completing Emma Frost’s Strategy in Marvel Rivals

Completing Emma Frost’s Strategy in Marvel Rivals

Emma Frost has made her debut in the X-Men universe through Marvel Rivals with the launch of Season 2. In the game, she serves as a Vanguard unit, which means she’ll take a stand at the frontlines to protect her teammates and secure objectives.

While playing a Vanguard can be challenging, Emma Frost is a popular choice among many players, regardless of their preferred role. If you are eager to dominate in battle with her, this guide will equip you with everything you need to know.

    Emma Frost Overview

Emma Frost is a medium-difficulty Vanguard unit who uses her telepathic powers to control her foes and takes on a powerful Diamond form to provide her allies with significant advantages during fights.

With Emma Frost, you have varied options compared to traditional Vanguard units. She can inflict considerable damage while also holding the frontline for her team.

Her Diamond Form ability acts as a robust defensive utility, enabling her to absorb damage, become unstoppable, and enhance specific abilities. For example, in the Diamond Form, Emma can unleash attacks like Carbon Crush or Crystal Kick, which are not available in her human form. These moves are extremely potent and can take down agile heroes, making them more vulnerable.

Additionally, Emma is one of the few tanks in the game capable of deploying a shield, similar to other characters like Magneto and Doctor Strange. This shield allows her to block incoming projectiles, making her a crucial asset on the battlefield.

While she possesses psychic abilities that do damage to enemies, her primary role is tanking, so it’s wise to focus on defensive strategies.

As a formidable anti-mobility hero, Emma can effectively neutralize quick-moving characters, effectively serving as the ultimate protector of your allies. Below is a comprehensive overview of her kit to give you better insight before diving into gameplay:

    Ability Description
Normal Attack Emma fires off a psionic beam that inflicts more damage based on how long it is charged.
Faceted Fury In Diamond Form, she can punch enemies, delivering crushing damage.
Psionic Seduction This ability can stun multiple enemies, inflict damage, and suppress their ultimate moves. If held longer, enemies will be drawn toward Emma without resistance.
Diamond Form Activating this ability envelops Emma in a powerful exoskeleton, reducing damage and making her unstoppable. It unlocks additional skills.
Carbon Crush In Diamond Form, Emma lunges at enemies and slams them to the ground, causing damage.
Psychic Spear She can extract the soul from an enemy, dealing damage. Hitting the soul damages the enemy’s actual body, causing a powerful blast upon destruction.
Mind’s Aegis A deployable shield that provides protection on the battlefield.
Crystal Kick An empowered kick from Diamond Form that sends enemies flying backward.

Mastering Emma Frost requires understanding how to effectively use her Diamond Form. This skill enhances her capabilities as a tank. However, keep in mind that both Carbon Crush and Psychic Spear are assigned to the same button, meaning you can’t use them simultaneously.

In human form, Psychic Spear is your attack, while in Diamond Form, it shifts to Carbon Crush. You can choose when to activate these abilities based on your situation. Psychic Spear works best in isolated scenarios, while Diamond Form is more advantageous during team fights.

When playing as Emma Frost, avoid diving straight into enemy lines. Although Diamond Form offers considerable strength, a lack of mobility can lead to quick defeats if you’re too aggressive. Instead, activate Diamond Form when enemy DPS or tanks threaten your healers or backline allies. This gives your teammates a chance to escape and helps you neutralize the threat.

Utilize Carbon Crush and Crystal Kick against nimble heroes like Psylocke or Spider-Man. Both moves are effective for pushing them away from your backline, thereby protecting your team from flankers.

Your Diamond Form has a cooldown of 15 seconds, so use it judiciously. Importantly, ability cooldowns don’t overlap between Diamond Form and human form, allowing for strategic flexibility.

Emma’s shield, while not as resilient as those of other characters, offers 500 hit points and can absorb projectiles easily. Positioning your shield in combat can block enemy attacks, particularly at chokepoints, making objectives easier to capture.

After deploying the shield, you have the option to reposition it without putting it on cooldown. However, if it gets destroyed, there is a 4-second cooldown until you can use it again.

Even aside from tanking, Emma can also deal significant damage with her Psychic Spear. Utilize it to target escaping DPS and healers.

For example, if an enemy hero tries to retreat, such as if Psylocke jumps into your backline, use your abilities to halt her. If she attempts to flee, Psychic Spear can deal her fatal damage, tipping the scales in your favor.

Let your Telepathic Pulse charge during neutral gameplay when not actively engaged in combat. At full charge, this ability inflicts severe damage, so it’s crucial to prioritize using it when enemies attempt to dive into your team.

When your charge reaches 100, consider using Telepathic Pulse, but if it is uncharged while enemies approach, switch to Diamond Form and utilize Faceted Fury as it offers higher base damage.

Keep in mind that your primary objective is to protect your teammates as a Vanguard. Stay close to your healers and DPS allies.

Tips for Using Emma Frost’s Ultimate

Emma Frost’s ultimate ability releases psychic energy, damaging enemies while compelling them to approach her if allowed to linger. You can deactivate it at any point, but it’s advisable to let it run its course unless necessary for survival.

Since you can move during this ultimate, target multiple enemies to maximize its effectiveness. When the ability is active, enemies will be stunned, and their ultimate moves suppressed, allowing your team to gain a crucial advantage and push for objectives unchecked.

Utilizing Emma Frost’s kit strategically can greatly influence the battle in your favor, making her a valuable asset in Marvel Rivals.

  • Exploring the New Team-Up Changes in Season 2

Exploring the New Team-Up Changes in Season 2

Big changes are coming to Team-Up abilities in Marvel Rivals with the arrival of Season 2. This update will introduce new synergies, modify existing ones, and remove some pairings altogether. Certain characters have also been reassigned to different Team-Ups, which will affect their optimal pairings. Players will need to adapt as they explore the new dynamics and discover the strongest team compositions.

Looking ahead, the character release schedule for Season 3 will be quicker, suggesting that Team-Ups will become more varied in the future. However, Season 2 will see the removal of some previously existing Team-Up abilities, maintaining a limited number of synergies. Developers have expressed their desire to avoid rapid accumulation of Team-Ups, so we can expect further removals in the Seasons to come.

Which Team-Up Abilities Are Being Removed?

    Farewell to Familiar Synergies

When Season 2 launches on April 11, 2025, two Team-Ups will be taken out of the game:

    • Metallic Chaos (Magneto + Scarlet Witch)
    • Voltaic Union (Thor + Captain America or Storm)

Once these Team-Up abilities in Marvel Rivals are removed, they will no longer activate when the involved characters are selected for battle. Given that Team-Ups rely on anchors, Scarlet Witch and Thor will forfeit unique synergies that contributed to strong team dynamics. For instance, Magneto will no longer be able to generate a large sword that fires magical projectiles through his Team-Up with Scarlet Witch, significantly limiting his damage output.

Among the characters affected by these removals, Captain America stands to lose the most. Thor and Storm will retain multiple Team-Ups in Season 2, with Thor still connected to Hela and Storm able to combine her Ultimate with The Human Torch’s abilities. While Captain America will gain a new Team-Up in Season 2, losing his pairing with Thor limits his damage potential with shield strikes.

New Team-Up Abilities Coming in Season 2

Form New Connections with New Characters

To balance the removals, several new Team-Ups will be introduced in Season 2, especially with the addition of characters like Emma Frost in Marvel Rivals. The effectiveness of these new Team-Ups will need to be discovered as players experiment with various character combinations. Expect three new Team-Ups in Season 2:

    • Arcane Order (Doctor Strange + Scarlet Witch)
    • Stars Aligned (Captain America + Winter Soldier)
    • Mental Projection (Emma Frost + Magneto or Psylocke)

In the first Team-Up, Doctor Strange acts as an anchor for Scarlet Witch, enhancing her chaos abilities with his mystic arts. When this Team-Up is active, Scarlet Witch’s Chthonian Burst becomes Magic Burst, a new skill that allows her to hold down the attack button to unleash a flurry of magical missiles toward a target for a limited duration.

The second Team-Up, Stars Aligned, showcases a unique collaboration between Captain America and Winter Soldier. While active, both characters can use a new ability called Stellar Impact, allowing them to confirm an interaction before crashing into one another, resulting in a substantial shockwave that deals damage and slows down enemies nearby.

When Captain America and Winter Soldier are teamed up in Season 2, Winter Soldier will also gain access to a new ability alongside Stellar Impact, allowing him to launch forward toward an ally and slam his mechanical arm into the ground, inflicting damage to nearby enemies upon landing.

The final Team-Up appears when Emma Frost serves as an anchor, where Magneto or Psylocke can summon illusory projections of themselves, similar to Loki’s clones in Marvel Rivals. These Duplicate Illusions can cast their abilities independently, disorienting foes while causing offensive and defensive skills to activate twice—once for the original character and again through the Mental Projection.

Existing Team-Ups That Are Changing in Season 2

Fewer Characters and New Additions to Classic Pairings

In addition to the new and removed Team-Ups, several existing synergies will undergo modifications in Season 2. Four Team-Ups will see adjustments in the form of character additions or deletions, changing who benefits from specific team combinations. For example, some Team-Ups will add characters to unlock new abilities when paired, while others might lose benefits associated with having an anchor present.

The following table outlines which Team-Ups will change in Season 2, the characters involved, and any new abilities or effects that result from these changes:

    Team-Up

    Characters

    Removed or Added Characters

    Changed Effects

    Dimensional Shortcut

    Removed – Psylocke

None; the Team-Up remains the same, and current characters can still activate it.

    Ammo Overload

    • Rocket Raccoon
    • The Punisher

    Removed – Winter Soldier

None; the Team-Up remains the same, and the current characters can still activate it.

    Chilling Charisma

    • Luna Snow
    • Jeff the Land Shark

    Removed – Namor

None; the Team-Up remains unchanged, and the current characters can still activate it.

    Gamma Charge

Added – Namor, Removed – Doctor Strange

Namor’s squid turrets now unleash a homing beam of gamma energy to automatically target enemies.

The removal of characters from Team-Ups opens up opportunities for more unique team formations, as fewer characters are tied to specific pairings. This change allows you and your teammates to explore a greater diversity of compositions for your next match.

Many Team-Ups will remain unchanged in Season 2, so you can still rely on familiar synergies even if these adjustments disrupt your traditional strategies.

Fortunately, characters removed from certain Team-Ups still have other synergies available. For instance, Psylocke can now team up with Emma Frost through the Mental Projection ability, while Winter Soldier can partner with Captain America to compensate for losing Ammo Overload. The new Team-Ups ensure that nearly every character can maintain some unique synergy with another hero or villain chosen by your allies.

The various updates to Team-Ups this new Season are likely just the beginning, especially as Ultron comes into play mid-Season, which will undoubtedly lead to fresh synergies. While some alterations to Marvel Rivals Team-Ups may seem minor, their significance will become apparent as more Seasons bring even more changes to character pairings.

  • Comprehensive Changes to Characters and Systems

Comprehensive Changes to Characters and Systems

NetEase has unveiled a sneak peek of Season 2 for Marvel Rivals, showcasing an array of character and system modifications. Rivals has launched impressively, particularly for a free-to-play live service game, thanks to its captivating gameplay, straightforward mechanics, and the strong support from the iconic Marvel brand.

Although Season 1 was twice as expansive as typical seasons, it provided valuable insights into the game’s future updates. Upcoming seasons are set to introduce two new heroes, at least one new map, and various balance adjustments to ensure gameplay remains fresh. NetEase has demonstrated that it pays attention to player feedback and is committed to making necessary system changes.

    Character Changes for Season 2

    Adjusting Damage Balance

Season 2 is packed with balance adjustments, most notably affecting Vanguards and Duelists. Detailed information can be found on the official Marvel Rivals website. Among the newcomers are Emma Frost (Vanguard) and Ultron, expected to join as a Strategist later in the season. Emma Frost will be available right at the beginning, while Ultron is slated for release in the latter part of the season.

Starting with the Vanguards, Captain America is facing minor nerfs to his base and shield health. Doctor Strange will see a slight decrease in his primary fire and Maelstrom damage, while gaining some survivability as a rumored trade-off. Additionally, the cost of charging Magneto’s ultimate is rising by 300, and The Thing’s damage-reduction shield is being trimmed from 30% to 25%.

On the upside, Hulk will enjoy enhanced mobility and a shorter cooldown on his shield ability. Thor’s effectiveness as a solo tank is being bolstered with health and movement speed improvements. Among the most significant buffs is Peni Parker, who will gain an additional 75 health and a chance for her primary fire to critic and improve her firing speed.

In the Duelists category, Hawkeye will receive surprising buffs that enhance his movement speed while charging and significantly empower his ultimate. On the other hand, Hela will see damage buffs but her escape ability will have a longer cooldown. Two flying characters, Iron Man and Human Torch, will gain temporary health through their Armor Overdrive and Flaming Meteor abilities, respectively.

Iron Fist is undergoing a series of adjustments that will reduce his survivability while boosting his damage output. Star-Lord, considered a nuisance by many, will experience damage falloff on his ultimate as a calibrating measure. Comparatively, Winter Soldier will maintain his effectiveness against smaller targets but will find his presence diminished against Vanguards due to health adjustments. Lastly, while Wolverine retains his ability to shred Vanguards, his crowd control potential will diminish.

    Storm-Human Torch-Iron Man Feature

The largest enhancements are reserved for Mr. Fantastic and Moon Knight. The former will undergo significant boosts to damage and health but will lose some speed in building his Inflated State. Moon Knight’s primary fire will travel more swiftly and provide an extra 100 health to improve his survivability, while his ultimate, Hand of Khonshu, will operate longer and fire additional projectiles.

Strategist characters are seeing fewer changes, mostly nerfs. Key nerfs are aimed at Loki’s Regeneration Domain and Adam Warlock’s Bond of Life, enhancing counterplay options against them. Sue Storm’s Guardian Shield will also lose some maximum health. Meanwhile, Cloak and Dagger, Mantis, and Rocket Raccoon will see various improvements to their abilities to make their healing more effective during quick damage flurries.

    System Changes for Season 2

    Creating a Positive Player Environment

Black Widow, Captain America, and Black Panther in Marvel Rivals Hellfire suits arriving in Krakoa

Even though there are fewer system adjustments in Marvel Rivals, their significance shouldn’t be underestimated. A major upcoming change is that, beginning in Season 3, all seasons will be shortened to two months, with each month unveiling a new hero. This is a groundbreaking shift in the hero shooter genre and a remarkable speed for character releases, especially under the Marvel umbrella.

While most hero shooters are fortunate to introduce four new characters annually, Rivals‘ plan to launch at least 12 each year is revolutionary.

Secondly, Rivals will undergo substantial updates to prominent character collaborations. At the start of Season 2, Emma Frost will enable a duplication team-up with Magneto and Psylocke, Scarlet Witch will gain a burst ability from Doctor Strange, and Captain America will team up with Bucky for a powerful combo. To keep balance, the Magneto/Witch and Thor/Storm/Cap team-ups have been removed.

Competitive gameplay will also see shifts in Season 2. The key enhancement is a greater emphasis on individual performance affecting rank points. However, to balance this, the pick/ban feature will initiate at Gold III instead of Diamond. Moreover, Competitive mode will feature a reduced map pool that rotates with Quick Play maps. While these modifications do not directly address Marvel Rivals’ rank inflation issue, they may help alleviate other concerns.

    Revolutionizing Live Service Gaming

    Raising the Standard for Others

Marvel Rivals Ultron from Season 2 trailer

All these changes illustrate how Marvel Rivals is reshaping the live service gaming space. This transformation is comparable to what Fortnite achieved with its battle pass introduction. While Rivals’ battle pass may not be as welcoming as Fortnite’s, it stands out in several aspects, especially compared to other games. The battle pass offers great value for its cost, and players find it easy to earn shop currencies.

The plan to introduce one hero a month is monumental. With the majority of hero shooters managing to add just four new characters a year, Rivals transitioning to a schedule of at least 12 is groundbreaking. That said, this change may be cause for concern regarding the entry experience for newcomers, who might feel overwhelmed by a game filled with over 50 characters within a year. Nevertheless, the strength of the Marvel brand lends enough appeal to encourage players to remain invested.

Characters depicted in Marvel Rivals Season 2 art, including Emma Frost and Ultron

In summary, Season 2 represents yet another significant step in the promising trajectory of Rivals. While it may not seem as expansive as Season 1, the importance of the adjustments to beloved heroes and the still challenging Competitive mode should not be underestimated. Players can experience all the changes in Season 2 of Marvel Rivals starting April 11.

  • Tips for Completing Your Team Composition in Marvel Rivals

Tips for Completing Your Team Composition in Marvel Rivals

Building a strong team composition is vital for securing victory in a match of Marvel Rivals. It’s not just about filling roles like two vanguards, two duelists, and two strategists. Success hinges on more nuanced factors that can significantly impact your chances of winning. Whether you’re a newcomer to hero shooters or simply new to Marvel Rivals, this guide covers everything essential for crafting a balanced team.

    Understanding Team Composition

In Marvel Rivals, your team’s composition reflects its strengths and capabilities. Key considerations include:

    • The number of heroes in each role
    • The types of heroes you choose
    • The overall playstyle of your team

To start, aim to include at least one hero from each role: vanguard, duelist, and strategist.

It’s important to note that there aren’t strict rules for how many heroes you should designate to each role, as Rivals has no rigid role queue.

    Hero Types and Playstyle

Playing effectively requires an understanding of the different hero types and their associated playstyles. There are four primary hero types you should familiarize yourself with.

    1. Poke: In a poke playstyle, heroes attack from afar to sap the enemy’s resources over time. Examples include Peni Parker, Hela, Punisher, and Luna Snow.

    2. Dive: Dive heroes engage the enemy’s backline, catching opponents off guard. Notable dive heroes are Venom, Thor, Iron Fist, and Psylocke.

    3. Brawl: Brawl heroes excel in close-quarter combat and use their strength to dominate in melee battles. The Hulk, Wolverine, and Mister Fantastic are great examples.

    4. Rush: Rush heroes aggressively push forward and aim to eliminate enemies quickly. Characters like Venom and Cloak & Dagger fit this style well.

Running a team that lacks strategists is typically a poor choice and can lead to a frustrating gameplay experience.

    Balancing Your Team Composition

A common approach to team composition involves having two vanguards, two duelists, and two strategists. This setup often leads to a balanced team ready to face opponents. However, context matters significantly; not every enemy team will fit neatly into this archetype.

Ultimately, selecting heroes should revolve around the required roles and the intended playstyle of your team.

    Examples of Hero Selection

Here are a few instances of hero selection based on playstyle and composition:

    1. Poke Composition: If your team has two vanguards and two duelists but only one strategist, you should consider adding a poke-based strategist like Rocket Raccoon or Loki.

    2. Dive Composition: If your team is focused on a dive strategy with only one vanguard, consider adding a second vanguard such as Thor or Peni Parker for better support.

    3. Brawl Composition: Your team may have more than enough strategists, allowing you to choose a brawl-focused duelist like Wolverine to enhance damage output.

    4. Rush Composition: If all your heroes possess good mobility and you have a balanced team, you can enhance your rush strategy by adding a high-mobility strategist like Luna Snow.

While achieving balance is crucial, flexibility remains vital. Remember, avoid creating a team that fights against itself—like having a poke hero if most of your team favors melee.

    Countering the Enemy Composition

Understanding how to counter your opponent’s team composition is essential. Different compositions can effectively neutralize one another:

    • Poke can be countered by Dive
    • Dive can be countered by Brawl/Rush
    • Brawl/Rush can be countered by Poke

Keep in mind that these are general guidelines; effective counters depend on engaging in the appropriate playstyle to fully leverage your team’s strengths. If you’re utilizing a brawl or rush approach, you’ll still need to confront divers in your backline directly.

With this knowledge, you’ll be well-prepared to enhance your gameplay and improve your chances of victory in Marvel Rivals!

  • Unlock the Hyper Orange Venom Skin and Symbiote Boogie Emote!

Unlock the Hyper Orange Venom Skin and Symbiote Boogie Emote!

In the latest surprise April Fool’s update for Marvel Rivals, Venom receives a new skin and a hidden emote, adding fresh cosmetics for players to acquire. The Hyper Orange skin and the Symbiote Boogie emote can be unlocked in different manners, with one option being free while the other requires a one-time purchase. Thankfully, both items are easy to obtain, making them a great addition to your collection.

The Hyper Orange skin is a nod to a secret character from the original Marvel vs. Capcom arcade game. While the beta version of Marvel Rivals featured a Cyan Venom skin that echoed Venom’s classic appearance from the iconic fighting game, the new Hyper Orange design is inspired by the legendary “Red Venom.” This variant of Venom boasted enhanced abilities, serving as a “Hyper” version of the original character.

Unlocking the Hyper Orange Venom Skin

    Acquire the New In-Game Bundle

To obtain the Hyper Orange skin for Venom, players have two avenues:

    • Purchase the new Pick-Up Bundle
    • Spend 800 Units to obtain the Hyper Orange Skin, Spray, and Nameplate

The Pick-Up Bundle provides the easiest path to get the new Venom skin, as players unlock the costume for free upon purchasing the bundle. This bundle features a new collection of rewards, akin to a seasonal Battle Pass but at a significantly lower cost. You can purchase the Pick-Up Bundle for $2.99 in the Store, and the Venom skin will be unlocked automatically once your purchase is confirmed.

To locate the Pick-Up Bundle, click on the event when it appears in the main menu or navigate to the new “Exchange” option in the Store. A prominent prompt will display the bundle, showcasing various rewards.

After purchasing the Pick-Up Bundle, players can complete challenges for additional rewards, including Chrono Tokens and a new Costume Coin that allows you to claim another free skin. If you don’t have much use for Tokens, it might be simpler to spend extra Units to directly purchase the new skin in Marvel Rivals without having to grind for the Nameplate and Spray associated with it.

    Unlocking the Symbiote Boogie Emote

Get an Entertaining Dance for the Lethal Protector

The more fun of the two new cosmetics is the Symbiote Boogie emote, where Venom breaks into a dance amid battle. This hilarious emote can be activated for as long as you wish, resulting in a delightful animation for the usually fearsome character. In my opinion, it’s a fantastic way to taunt defeated opponents during heated matches.

This emote becomes available as a secret reward for finishing Galacta’s Cosmic Adventure, which is a board-game-style event currently running. In the Cosmic Adventure event in Marvel Rivals, players collect a special resource by achieving mission objectives such as:

    • Healing characters a specified amount
    • Inflicting enough damage with designated characters
    • Completing a set number of matches
    • Scoring a minimum number of assists

Accomplishing these objectives allows you to gather Galacta’s Power Cosmic, a unique resource that fuels a special d4 dice you can roll. When you roll the d4, Galacta moves around a game board, collecting rewards at each space she lands on. These rewards include a rare Black Widow skin, Units, and Gallery Cards that you can view at any time.

Galacta skips over spaces she has already landed on, progressing based on the rolled number on the d4 until she arrives at an unvisited space. This design ensures that eventually, you collect all items from the game board.

By gathering enough Power Cosmic before the event concludes, you enable Galacta to traverse every space on the board. Once Galacta has gathered every event reward, you will receive the secret Venom Emote free of charge. Completing this event was relatively quick for me, especially since I focused on playing the limited-time Clone Rumble mode, which provides the maximum Power Cosmic rewards.

This emote is the hidden gem of the Cosmic Adventure event that the developers hinted at in recent weeks. As one of the more distinctive and amusing emotes in Marvel Rivals for any character, it’s definitely something you’ll want to snag before the event ends soon.

  • Unlocking All Features of the Pick-Up Bundle: A Guide

Unlocking All Features of the Pick-Up Bundle: A Guide

The Pick-Up Bundle in Marvel Rivals is an exciting new collection of rewards that you can unlock by finishing timed challenges. While not offered for free, buying this mystery pack grants you new skins, including one that’s your choice. As of March 27, 2025, the Pick-Up Bundle is still available in the in-game store for players to acquire.

If you own the Season 1 Battle Pass in Marvel Rivals, you’ll be eligible for even greater rewards from the Pick-Up Bundle. This bundle includes a special type of pink currency known as Chrono Tokens, along with various other rewards. You can use these Tokens to advance through the Luxury or Free tiers of this season’s Battle Pass.

    What Is The Pick-Up Bundle?

    Limited-Time Special Rewards

The Pick-Up Bundle is a unique set of event rewards that will be available in Marvel Rivals for an unspecified period, as of this writing. You can earn eight different rewards by purchasing the Pick-Up Bundle, which includes a new currency type. However, unlike previous collections, there are certain conditions for how you can acquire items from the Pick-Up Bundle.

The Pick-Up Bundle is not free; you need to purchase it for a fixed price in the Store. While this could deter some players from accessing its rewards, the cost is significantly lower than that of the Luxury Battle Pass for the season.

With the Pick-Up Bundle, you complete challenges to unlock reward tiers. This is similar to the seasonal Battle Pass, where new rewards are presented for reaching each tier. Despite this familiar structure, you must recharge the Bundle every time you earn a reward to continue unlocking subsequent items.

Be aware that local prices may vary, but this cost is much lower than the Luxury Battle Pass or the number of Lattice currency you’d need for most cosmetics in the game.

If you have surplus Chrono Tokens from the Battle Pass, you can convert them into Units, which can also be used to buy the Pick-Up Bundle.

For players who prefer not to spend real money directly, there’s another option to access the Pick-Up Bundle. Using 800 blue Units will unlock the Pick-Up Bundle, awarding you its first free reward while also progressing towards the other offerings. Players who have accumulated enough Units in Marvel Rivals from prior events or the Battle Pass might consider using their in-game currency to acquire this smaller Bundle.

  • Ultimate Dive Composition Guide: Top Team Setups

Ultimate Dive Composition Guide: Top Team Setups

Marvel Rivals is an exciting competitive hero shooter, offering a diverse range of characters and roles that players can adapt to various scenarios. However, it’s essential to recognize that not every hero is suitable for every situation; some are better suited for specific team compositions, such as the dive composition.

A dive composition is all about swiftly engaging opponents and targeting critical threats, particularly enemies who play strategic or duelist roles. As players advance up the ranks in competitive play, dive compositions tend to perform better because they require tight coordination and an ability to prioritize targets effectively. Although there are counters to this strategy, a well-coordinated dive team can dismantle the enemy before they have a chance to respond.

How to Create a Dive Composition

You’ll Need an Excellent Team to Succeed!

With 37 heroes in Marvel Rivals, many can be utilized in dive compositions, creating various valuable setups, since not all dive strategies are identical. While most dive compositions follow a simple premise of “act fast and focus on one target,” the specific targets and approaches differ among setups. By strategically selecting certain heroes, particularly Vanguards, players can quickly identify which heroes suit various playstyles.

Role Brawl Dive Assassination Dive Flanking Dive
Vanguards Thor, The Thing, Hulk, Captain America Doctor Strange, Venom, Thor, Captain America
Duelists Wolverine, Iron Fist, Star-Lord, Iron Man, Storm, The Human Torch Spider-Man, Black Panther, Psylocke, Iron Fist Spider-Man, Psylocke, Black Panther, Magik, Scarlet Witch, Hela
Strategists Mantis, Adam Warlock, Invisible Woman Luna Snow, Jeff, Invisible Woman Loki, Jeff, Luna Snow, Invisible Woman

Typically, a dive composition will consist of a 2/2/2 setup, but that’s not a strict rule, as some teams may prefer triple Strategists or even triple Duelists in specific contexts. Forming a strong team composition hinges on recognizing what your team excels at and how to exploit the enemy’s weaknesses. Team-ups play a crucial role in many dive compositions—while not always necessary, characters like Spider-Man or Jeff shine when teamed up, gaining substantial advantages during gameplay.

Brawl dive compositions emphasize quickly closing in on enemies with high damage output and crowd control, primarily targeting vulnerable frontline or poorly positioned backline heroes. Assassination dives aim to infiltrate, eliminate one or two key targets, and then escape or proceed to finish off the rest of the enemy team, depending on how successful the initial strikes are.

Flanking compositions stand out because each role has a distinct function. Vanguards serve as decoys, Duelists focus on eliminating and distracting backline heroes, and Strategists provide damage and healing to the frontline while also supporting Duelists.

Top Dive Compositions in Marvel Rivals

Choose Your Hero! Or Villain. No Judgment Here…

When constructing your team composition, keep a few vital points in mind. It’s crucial to ensure your team has true support heroes, like Luna Snow, Invisible Woman, Cloak and Dagger, or Mantis, to counter strong enemy ultimates. While having two is ideal, at least one support character is necessary for prolonging fights and safeguarding multiple teammates simultaneously.

Choosing which heroes complement each other is also essential. While this is often influenced by team-ups, some heroes can perform remarkably well together even without a team-up to depend on.

    Brawl Dive Compositions

There are two main brawl compositions centered around Wolverine and flyers. Wolverine is particularly vital for teams looking to quickly take down enemy tanks. Flyer teams often combine Hulk and Iron Man or Storm and The Human Torch, leveraging their team-ups for maximum damage.

Both setups mesh effectively with Star-Lord, along with Adam Warlock and Mantis to bolster damage and activate team-ups, enhancing overall combat effectiveness due to resurrections. Flyer teams also benefit from including Invisible Woman for added midair protection and healing, without needing dedicated healing efforts.

Captain America, Thor, Wolverine, Star-Lord, Mantis, Adam Warlock Hulk, The Thing, Iron Man/Storm, Star-Lord/The Human Torch, Mantis, Adam Warlock/Invisible Woman

    Assassination Dive Compositions

Assassination compositions rely on high damage output and precise target selection to eliminate key threats. Strategists in these setups need to be fast and stealthy since their tanks will be focused on attacking cornered backline enemies, often leaving the Strategists without glaring protection. Mobility and escape abilities are vital for Strategists playing this way.

    Assassination Dive Comp
    Black Panther/Psylocke, Jeff, Luna Snow

    Flanking Dive Compositions

Flanking teams require a steady flow of pressure across all fronts, causing chaos in enemy ranks. Although this composition doesn’t heavily rely on kills as much as others, it excels at securing them nonetheless. Unlike other setups, flanking teams often require less coordination, making it a more common sight in solo queue matches.

Flanking Dive Comp Flanking Dive Comp (Doctor Strange Variant)
Thor, Venom, Hela, Spider-Man, Loki, Invisible Woman Hulk, Doctor Strange, Hela, Magik, Loki, Invisible Woman

These teams perform exceptionally well using high ground with champions like Loki and Hela, greatly pressuring the enemy frontline while flankers make swift moves to the backline, like Scarlet Witch or Black Panther. The Doctor Strange variant can teleport the entire team swiftly to flank positions.

    Conclusion

Ultimately, when selecting a dive composition that fits your team, consider all these factors but remember that Marvel Rivals is all about having fun. Not every team will work perfectly in sync, but striving to mesh well with your allies and maintaining strong communication will significantly enhance your chances of victory.

Galacta’s Stellar Journey: Your Ultimate Event Guide

Marvel Rivals has launched an exciting new special event called Galacta’s Cosmic Adventure. This event turns traditional board game mechanics on their head, requiring players to gather a brand-new currency to roll dice and navigate the game board. As you move along the board, there are various rewards to collect, and the ultimate prize is the brand-new Mrs. Barnes Black Widow Skin.

Initially, players believed they would receive rewards for every space they passed on the board. However, that’s not the case. You’ll only earn rewards from the space you land on, so gathering every reward in one trip can be a bit challenging.

    Galacta’s Cosmic Adventure Schedule

Galacta’s Cosmic Adventure Is Live Now

The Galacta’s Cosmic Adventure event has already kicked off and will run for about 33 days, as indicated by the in-game timer. According to the Marvel Rivals wiki, this event is scheduled to conclude on April 11, consistent with the timer’s countdown. To compare, Jeff’s Winter Splash Festival lasted for 20 days, so players have ample time this time around to complete their reward collections.

Star-Lord is creating chaos in the new Dancing Lions game mode in Marvel Rivals, but there are a few strategies to thwart his reign of terror.

The new game mode, Clone Rumble, that debuts with Galacta’s Cosmic Adventure will continue until March 24, appearing intermittently throughout that period. Notably, the in-game guide highlights that a mystery reward will be unveiled after a specified duration. This unknown reward is set to become accessible on March 31, and speculation suggests that it could involve a new hero, although this has not yet been confirmed by NetEase. Fans are hopeful for further details about this surprise item, skin, or whatever it might turn out to be before the countdown concludes.

Everything You Need To Know To Earn Maximum Rewards

Galacta's Cosmic Adventure Game Board in Marvel Rivals

A dedicated game board will be available for the entirety of Galacta’s Cosmic Adventure, and players can access it from the Marvel Rivals homepage. Special missions, found under the “Season” tab and then “Missions,” are tailored exclusively for this event and mainly relate to the Clone Rumble game mode. The [Event] Galacta’s Cosmic Adventure section houses all missions that you need to complete in order to earn the new currency, Galacta’s Power Cosmic.

In addition to missions and challenges, players will earn one die roll every 48 hours. Furthermore, for every 30 Galacta’s Power Cosmic earned, players will receive one free die roll.

Additional challenges are scattered throughout the daily missions, allowing players to earn extra currency. Be sure to explore all mission tabs to maximize your rewards during the event. After collecting Galacta’s Power Cosmic, you’ll infuse the Chrono-Crystal, which is the name of the dice used for board rolls, with Galacta’s Power Cosmic to generate a random number.

The highest roll possible is four, and the number (1-4) the dice lands on determines how many spaces Galacta moves. Each space provides a different reward, while passing by any space yields no rewards.

How To Unlock The Mrs. Barnes Black Widow Skin In Marvel Rivals

The Mrs. Barnes skin is tied to the Clone Rumble event in Marvel Rivals. It is advisable to obtain it over the weekend, but it can also be gradually earned later.

Unquestionably, the most sought-after prize from this event is the Black Widow Mrs. Barnes skin, despite many players not using her as frequently as they might wish. This new skin carries more lore than some might assume, as Black Widow and Winter Soldier share a romance storyline in the comics that many may be unaware of. This costume seems to be a subtle homage to their love story, as she adopts Bucky’s name while serving a different kind of justice compared to the Winter Soldier.

Overall, the latest event in Marvel Rivals appears to be quite enjoyable, offering a wealth of rewards for players. It’s always fantastic to accumulate free units toward acquiring other skins for players who prefer a budget-friendly playstyle. The Clone Rumble game mode generates unrelenting chaos, which seems to resonate more with fans than the Dancing Lions Event, which often resulted in endless pursuits of Star-Lord without success. For the time being, let’s strive to gather as many rewards as possible before Galacta’s Cosmic Adventure concludes.

  • Understanding Proficiency in Marvel Rivals Gameplay

Understanding Proficiency in Marvel Rivals Gameplay

    Quick Links

When diving into Marvel Rivals, many players tend to develop a preference for a specific character or a select few they frequently choose to play. It’s common for individuals to find one or two characters they feel at ease with across all classes, allowing them to master the distinct abilities and strategies associated with those characters.

Spending time with a specific group of characters significantly boosts your familiarity and skill level with them. However, you can speed up the process of improving this skill level and reaping rewards by adopting certain strategies.

    What is Proficiency?

Proficiency measures how much time you’ve dedicated to a character and, to some extent, your effectiveness with them. While proficiency doesn’t serve as a strict ranking system, earning more proficiency depends on how you play.

To check your proficiency for each character, head over to Heroes > Specific Hero > Proficiency.

    How to Earn Proficiency Quickly

Proficiency naturally accumulates as you play a character. Each hero has unique ways to gain proficiency, and focusing on these challenges can help you improve faster.

    Proficiency Challenges

Every character has a common proficiency challenge, along with three unique ones:

    1. Playing a hero for an hour earns you proficiency.
    2. Performing healing, blocking, or dealing damage—the amount varies by the character’s role.
    3. Achieving KOs, assists, or final hits, which also varies based on the hero’s role.
    4. A unique challenge tied to a specific ability for each hero.

These proficiency challenges can be repeated infinitely and are automatically updated, so you don’t need to manage them manually.

You can earn significant proficiency by performing well in your role. Healing, inflicting damage, and knocking out enemies contribute quickly toward proficiency for the second and third challenges.

The fourth challenge depends on the hero. For instance, Rocket will need to use his ability to revive teammates effectively. However, this ability has a long cooldown period, making it tricky to accomplish swiftly. In contrast, Moon Knight’s challenge involves bouncing his weapon off enemies, which can be done efficiently with smart placement.

    Best Mode for Earning Proficiency

Overall, the Competitive mode is your best bet for earning proficiency. It typically has minimal downtime; matches usually last longer due to better competition, and modes like Escort consist of two rounds.

Less time waiting for matches and more time actively playing translates to completing your playtime hero challenge faster. It also means you’ll gather stats for the other proficiency challenges more quickly.

Every Proficiency Rank and What You Earn

All characters in the game share five proficiency ranks:

    1. Agent
    2. Knight
    3. Captain
    4. Centurion
    5. Lord

To progress through the ranks, you need increasingly more proficiency, starting at 500 points to move from Agent to Knight, with 2,400 points required to advance from Centurion to Lord.

    Proficiency Rewards Table

    Level Reward
    Agent KO Prompt/Avatar
    Knight Spray
    Captain KO Prompt
    Centurion KO Prompt
    Lord Avatar

Keep in mind that while proficiency challenges refresh automatically, you’ll need to manually claim and equip the rewards to use them.

    Proficiency Challenge Increases

Although the tasks for proficiency challenges remain constant, the higher your proficiency level, the more you’ll need to accomplish to complete them. For instance, a healing character might start with a requirement of 10,000 healing at the Agent level, but this could rise to 54,000 at the Centurion level, significantly extending the time needed to fulfill the challenge.

On the upside, while challenges become tougher as you advance, your rewards will also improve substantially. This means you might progress at a slower rate, but that progress will come in larger increments.

  • Strategies to Defeat the Human Torch in Marvel Rivals

Strategies to Defeat the Human Torch in Marvel Rivals

Fliers in Marvel Rivals present distinct challenges, often having fewer soft counters compared to most other characters in the game. To effectively take down these aerial combatants, you need characters that can perform very specific actions; otherwise, they can wreak havoc on your team throughout the match.

The Human Torch exemplifies this issue. He can be particularly troublesome when matched against other fliers like Iron Man and Storm due to his remarkable speed and agility, making it difficult to inflict significant damage on him during a fight.

Strategies to Counter the Human Torch

The major concern when countering the Human Torch is that he’s a flier, but that’s not his only threat. He can inflict a significant amount of area-of-effect (AoE) damage, controlling small areas effortlessly. This ability compels adversaries to either reposition or remain stationary instead of advancing.

Despite his power, the Human Torch is one of the more fragile characters in the game. With focused effort, he can be brought down quickly, especially when he’s out in the open, making him a far less important factor for teams that strategize to keep him contained.

How to Counter the Human Torch as a Duelist

To effectively counter the Human Torch as a duelist, you need a character who can deal damage from a distance. However, it’s not enough to just have any ranged attacks; you’ll need fast-moving projectiles that can track effectively.

This rules out Duelists like Squirrel Girl and Moon Knight. While it’s not impossible to defeat him with these characters, it’s going to be significantly more challenging.

Fortunately, some Duelists can still take him down:

    • Sniper characters like Black Widow and Hawkeye excel at dealing heavy damage from afar. They can quickly turn a healthy Human Torch into a defeated one if they can take the shot. Savvy Human Torch players will limit your angles, so you may need to get creative to find your line of fire.
    • Hela is excellent for combating the Human Torch due to her hitscan primary attack, which reaches its target instantly. With precise aim, Hela can be a constant headache for any flier, including the Human Torch.
    • While Winter Soldier may have a tougher time against the Human Torch compared to the previous options, his main attack can still bring the Human Torch down. Additionally, Winter Soldier’s Tainted Voltage ability can knock fliers out of the sky.

It may be challenging to hit fliers with Tainted Voltage because it moves somewhat slowly, but any opportunity to knock a flier from the sky is worth taking.

    • Star-Lord is another choice for taking down the Human Torch, though perhaps a bit unconventional. He can close the vertical distance between himself and the Human Torch with relative ease, and his weapons dish out consistent damage. Given the Torch’s low health, he will struggle against Star-Lord’s attacks.

How to Counter the Human Torch as a Vanguard

Countering the Human Torch with a Vanguard can be more complex. Generally, Vanguards struggle against fliers as they usually operate at a range that keeps them out of a Vanguard’s effective reach.

Vanguards typically can’t bridge this gap for any meaningful amount of time. Characters like Venom and Thor can occasionally reach fliers, but they often don’t stick around long enough to deal significant damage.

    • Doctor Strange stands out as an exception. He can hover in the air for a considerable duration; while his projectiles may be slow, getting close to the Human Torch can result in a tough duel for Johnny Storm.

If the Human Torch tries to escape from Doctor Strange, Strange likely won’t have the speed to maintain the pressure. Using this ability as a finisher on a lower-health Human Torch can be effective or to force him out of a favorable position.

    • While Groot may not consistently damage the Human Torch, he can limit his options. Groot can create large walls in various locations, which forces the Human Torch to either find a new vantage point or waste time shooting at the wall instead of attacking you.

How to Counter the Human Torch as a Strategist

Strategists often have a somewhat easier time against the Human Torch than Vanguards but still face challenges. They usually struggle to hit an airborne opponent due to their weapons and abilities.

Moreover, the Human Torch’s capacity for generating substantial AoE damage means that Strategists, often closely positioned alongside a friendly Vanguard, may find themselves at risk. A well-placed Blazing Blast or Pyro-Prison from the Human Torch could spell disaster for both characters.

However, some Strategists can prove difficult for the Human Torch to hit and offer intriguing offensive capabilities:

    • Rocket can become an almost impossible target from a distance, presenting challenges for the Human Torch. By skillfully using Rocket’s movement abilities, it might feel like the Human Torch is fighting against a phantom, while a competent Rocket can still fire healing spheres with ease.
    • If Invisible Woman can get close enough to the Human Torch to land her Force Physics ability, she can pull Johnny Storm toward her. This tactic allows her to inflict significant damage before he might escape or gives nearby allies a chance to focus on him.

Positioning Invisible Woman for this tactic can be tricky, but leveraging her ability to become invisible can help tremendously, in combination with forcing the Human Torch to approach her using her Invisible Boundary ultimate ability.

    • Both Mantis and Luna Snow can also bring the Human Torch down or keep him immobilized in their own unique ways. Mantis can induce sleep in Johnny with one of her Spores, simplifying the process of handling him. Luna Snow can freeze him, which is a surprisingly effective method to make him plummet from the sky like a falling icicle.
  • Displaying Melee Attack Range in Marvel Rivals: A Guide

Displaying Melee Attack Range in Marvel Rivals: A Guide

Marvel Rivals features an amazing and expanding cast of characters, each with unique abilities that stay true to their comic book roots.

One of the primary distinctions among characters is whether they focus on ranged or melee attacks. Some characters can do both, while others specialize in one. For those who prefer melee characters, it can be challenging to determine when an opponent is within striking distance, sometimes resulting in missed attacks and unexpected defeats.

How to Show Melee Attack Range

Fortunately, Marvel Rivals provides numerous options within the settings that let you customize gameplay and manage screen displays. One helpful feature is the ability to indicate if an enemy is close enough for your attacks to connect.

Locating the ‘Attack Range Hint’ Setting

This setting isn’t easy to find right away since it’s not always visible. To access it, follow these steps:

    • Settings > Controller/Keyboard (depending on your platform) > Combat
    • Here, you need to pick a Hero from the menu located above the settings. It’s set to ‘All Heroes’ by default. Choose a character with melee attacks, such as Spider-Man, Wolverine, or Iron Fist.
    • After selecting a melee hero, scroll to the Hero options. Among the specific options for that character, look for ‘Attack Range Hint‘ and turn it on.

How to Identify If an Enemy is Within Attack Range

When this setting is turned on, enemies within the range of your melee attacks will be slightly highlighted in red. While this effect isn’t overly dramatic and could blend into the background during busy scenes, it remains noticeable in most situations.

You can adjust the color of this highlighting effect by modifying the ‘Enemy Color’ in the Accessibility Settings. Some colors may clash with certain character designs, so if the default color isn’t working well for you, try experimenting with other options to find one that stands out better.
