Oppo’s Next Phone Outshines iPhone 16 Pro Feature

The launch of Oppo’s upcoming flagship smartphone, named the Oppo Find X8s, is just around the corner. The company has been eagerly showcasing its innovations compared to competitors, recently highlighting the impressive display enhancements of this new model, including its superiority over the iPhone 16 Pro.

According to Oppo, the Find X8s will feature remarkably slim bezels on all four sides of its display. Product manager Zhou Yibao shared a comparison image on the Chinese social platform Weibo, where the bezels of the Find X8s—previously thought to be called the Find X8 Mini—are juxtaposed with those of the iPhone 16 Pro or iPhone 16 Pro Max.

It’s evident that the bezels on the Oppo device appear to be thinner than those on the iPhone 16 Pro. Though the exact measurement hasn’t been disclosed, it has been indicated that the thickness is “only 1.xx mm,” with the “xx” denoting two decimal points following 1. Oppo has reportedly achieved this impressive thinness with a proprietary “chip-level screen packaging technology.”

Previously, a similar approach was highlighted when Oppo announced its earlier flagship, the Find X8, last November, which showcased a display with 1.45mm bezels on all sides.

In contrast, the iPhone 16 Pro is expected to have bezels measuring 1.41 mm along the top and bottom and 1.46 mm on the sides. Notably, the iPhone 16 Pro Max, despite having a larger display, features even slimmer bezels at just 1.36 mm. It’s worth mentioning that the Galaxy S25 Ultra has much thicker borders, exceeding two millimeters.

If Oppo is making a point to emphasize these measurements, it seems they are positioning themselves to rival the smaller values found on the two iPhone 16 Pro models. While the significance of these comparisons may seem trivial, Oppo is keen to establish itself as the brand with the thinnest bezels.

The Oppo phone appears noticeably narrower than the iPhone in the image, likely due to its smaller anticipated display size of around 6.3 inches.

    Competition Among Upcoming Slim Phones

Oppo’s larger device, the Find X8 Pro, has already outperformed the iPhone 16 Pro with its versatile camera capabilities, though the same may not hold true for this smaller variant. More details are on the way, as Oppo has assured us that the “ultra-thin, small-screen flagship” is set to debut in April, positioning itself to compete against the Galaxy S25 Edge and the upcoming iPhone 17 Air. Whether the Oppo phone can claim the title for overall slimness will soon be revealed next month.

This timeline points to a launch in China. However, given that Oppo recently opted out of a global launch for its foldable device, the Find N5, expectations for the Find X8s should be tempered. That said, this same model might debut as the OnePlus 13T, should there be no notable changes along the way.

  • iOS 18.2 Update Adds Feature For iPhone 16 Pro Users

iOS 18.2 Update Adds Feature For iPhone 16 Pro Users

If you’re a musician with an iPhone 16 Pro or iPhone 16 Pro Max running iOS 18.2, you’ll be pleased to discover that your device has become even more powerful, particularly when it comes to using the Voice Memos app. This exciting feature, initially previewed during the iPhone 16 launch event in September, is now fully available with the latest software update.

So, what are Layered Recordings? This new functionality allows you to effortlessly lay down a vocal track over any existing instrumental recording, all without needing headphones. With iOS 18.2, you can play your original instrumental ideas out loud through the built-in speakers while recording vocals using the high-quality microphone on your iPhone 16 Pro or Pro Max.

How does it work? Thanks to the powerful A18 Pro chip and advanced processing capabilities, the iPhone 16 Pro models can manage two individual tracks for recording. This allows for enhanced mixing and production in software like Logic Pro. Additionally, since Voice Memos is available on the Mac, you can synchronize Layered Recordings across devices and easily transfer them into a Logic Pro session.

This feature particularly caters to musicians, allowing them to mix multiple background instruments, such as acoustic guitar or piano, as a foundational layer for their recording. With Logic Pro, you can compress that instrumental mix into an audio file and send it back to Voice Memos seamlessly.

Apple highlighted this feature by showcasing a collaboration among Michael Bublé, Carly Pearce, and Greg Wells, who created a new track titled Maybe This Christmas entirely using Voice Memos on the iPhone 16 Pro. You can experience this track in Apple Music, complete with Spatial Audio.

It’s important to note that Layered Recordings is exclusively available in the Voice Memos app for the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max users with iOS 18.2.

  • Real Prices Of Pixel 9 Pro And iPhone 16 Pro Revealed

Real Prices Of Pixel 9 Pro And iPhone 16 Pro Revealed

When you purchase a Google Pixel 9 Pro or an iPhone 16 Pro, you’re aware of the price tag—each retailing for approximately $1,000. While these devices are costly, their prices reflect the typical range for flagship smartphones.

But is that the true cost of the phones? While that’s the amount you’ll pay, how much do Google and Apple actually spend to manufacture these devices? Recent data has shed some light on this question.

According to fresh insights from Nikkei, the production cost for Google’s Pixel 9 Pro is surprisingly lower than many anticipated, coming in at roughly $406 per unit. This figure includes costs such as $80 for the Tensor G4 chipset, $75 for the Samsung M14 display, and $61 for the camera components, as detailed by Jukanlosreve on X.

The Pixel 9 Pro’s manufacturing costs come in about 11% less than the Pixel 8 Pro. However, the newer model features a smaller display and battery. The Pixel 9 Pro XL is better compared to the Pixel 8 Pro, as this year’s range introduces three models—the standard Pixel 9, the Pixel 9 Pro, and the Pixel 9 Pro XL—marking the first time since the Pixel 4 XL in 2019 that the Pixel series has had three variants.

Furthermore, the same Nikkei analysis revealed that Apple’s production cost for the iPhone 16 Pro is $568 per unit. This includes costs such as $110 for the M14 display, $91 for the camera setup, and $135 for the A18 chipset. The overall manufacturing expense is slightly lower compared to the iPhone 15 Pro.

Both the Pixel 9 Pro and the iPhone 16 Pro come equipped with a 6.3-inch OLED display featuring a dynamic refresh rate of 120Hz. The Pixel 9 Pro boasts a 50-megapixel main camera, a 48MP ultrawide camera, and a 48MP telephoto lens, while the iPhone 16 Pro is equipped with a 58MP primary camera, a 48MP ultrawide camera, and a 12MP telephoto lens.

In the U.S., both the Pixel 9 Pro and the iPhone 16 Pro start at $1,000. However, based on the material costs, it appears that Google may yield a higher profit margin per device than Apple.
