Where to Farm for the Hot Slugger in Borderlands 4: Completing & Solving Guide

Legendary drops are much less common in Borderlands 4, so during the early game, you’ll be exploring lots of purple fields. However, some bosses have a higher chance of dropping special, unique loot. One such boss is the Callous Harbinger of Annihilating Death.

Don’t be intimidated by its name—this boss isn’t as dangerous as it sounds, and it’s fairly easy to find. Defeating it is worth the effort because it drops the powerful Hot Slugger shotgun, which is definitely worth a quick detour.

Where to Find the Hot Slugger in Borderlands 4
Before starting your search for this weapon, you need to progress through the campaign until you’re able to leave the Fadefields. The shotgun is located further out in the Terminus Range. On the map, look for the Craven’s Nook Order bunker, which is situated in the mountains to the east. Once you get close, it will appear on your compass, and your Echo-4 device can guide you through the cave system.

When you arrive at the bunker, you’ll see it’s locked by Order armor. Check the left side and you’ll notice a bio canister dispenser on a cliff edge. Pick one up, throw it at the door, and the bunker will open.

The bunker itself is typical Borderlands territory: fight through waves of enemies, moving from room to room—climbing vents and up elevator shafts—until you reach the boss, the Callous Harbinger of Annihilating Death. Defeating Callous gives you a chance to get the Hot Slugger, and you can keep fighting them multiple times through Moxxi’s Big Encore mode.

Though the exact drop rate isn’t clear, many players report getting the Hot Slugger after just one try.

What Are the Unique Effects of the Hot Slugger?
This shotgun is incredibly powerful, with a quick 0.9-second reload time. Its special feature is that each kill grants a +30% damage bonus, stacking up to three times. This bonus applies not just to gun damage but to all damage types, reaching a maximum of 90% increase. Like other Jakobs weapons, critical hits cause projectiles to ricochet to nearby enemies, increasing your damage potential. The main drawback is that you can only fire one shot before needing to reload.

How to Beat The Callous Harbinger of Annihilating Death
    Weakness: Shock, Corrosive, Cryo

At first, Callous might seem overwhelming with its barrage of projectiles, but it’s actually a slow-moving, bulky target. This makes it easier to dodge attacks and land shots. The arena will also be filled with Order synth enemies during the fight.

Here’s a quick rundown of Callous’s attack patterns:

    • Slam Attack: Callous raises both fists, glowing gold, then crashes them down, causing a shockwave. Jump to avoid damage.
    • Charge Attack: Callous may lift its shield and charge at you. Dash out of the way and fire during the brief window to land hits.
    • Missile Barrage: When the shield glows, it unleashes a volley of missiles in front of it. Seek cover to avoid this attack.
    • Diamond Projectile Attack: Sometimes, the shield floats above Callous’s head and fires a laser, sending diamond-shaped projectiles in all directions. Hide behind cover and wait for the attack to pass.
    • Energy Streaks: When raising fists, instead of a shockwave, Callous fires energy streaks outward. Jump through these gaps to continue firing at the boss.
    • Poison Goo Puddles: At times, Callous summons pools of poison on the ground. Avoid standing in these areas.
    • Mounted Turret: The shield also acts as a turret that periodically fires lasers from its back. Strafe around Callous in circles to make it stop firing and expose its weak points.

Staying mobile and understanding these attack patterns will help you overcome Callous and claim the Hot Slugger shotgun.

  • The Hottest New ChatGPT Trend Is Morbid

The Hottest New ChatGPT Trend Is Morbid

The rapid development of artificial intelligence has propelled us forward in tremendous ways. From advancing medical research to early cancer detection, AI’s contributions have been truly impressive. However, even with its remarkable capabilities, some of the most widely used AI platforms, like ChatGPT, have shown troubling behaviors, sometimes going completely off the rails.

In recent years, numerous reports have surfaced describing unsettling incidents involving ChatGPT. For instance, there have been cases where it provided detailed instructions for criminal activities, accused individuals of harming their children, or subtly encouraged conspiracy theories. One emerging use of ChatGPT is generating obituaries for deceased loved ones—or even building a business around the demand for personalized memorials.

ChatGPT in the context of remembering the departed

According to The Washington Post, many funeral homes are now employing ChatGPT to draft obituaries without informing families. They handle it carefully, as an untrained AI can sometimes produce exaggerated stories about a loved one’s passing or depict their death as entirely peaceful, regardless of reality.

A funeral home staff member, speaking anonymously, noted, “We don’t know whether their passing was peaceful, but we hope it was.” Surprisingly, it’s not just funeral establishments or entrepreneurial tech startups capitalizing on this trend; everyday people are also using AI to craft memorials—and they seem genuinely pleased with the results.

A story from a Nevada resident highlights this trend. After using ChatGPT to write their mother’s obituary, they expressed confidence that she would be very happy with how it turned out. They even mentioned plans to use the tool again when it’s time to honor their father. The individual excitedly shared their intent to explore more advanced features, saying, “Next, I’ll try Deep Research mode—it’s going to be fantastic.” Many find that AI makes it easier to articulate feelings during times of grief, providing a helpful outlet for expressing memories and sentiments.

    Commercialization of AI-driven obituaries

Interestingly, this isn’t solely a service offered by funeral homes or niche startups. Several companies now offer “AI obituary writing” for a fee. One such business, CelebrateAlly—founded by a former Microsoft employee—charges $5 for 100 credits, with creating an obituary typically costing around 10 credits, which amounts to just fifty cents. Users can select between different AI models, such as ChatGPT or Anthropic’s Claude, to tailor the tone or content.

However, AI isn’t infallible. It can sometimes produce bizarre or fabricated details if not carefully guided. For example, when instructed to write a playful obituary for a fictional personality, the AI invented whimsical details—claiming the individual was “born on a chilly day,” “lived by the words of Groucho Marx,” and “died in a sunny embrace”—despite no such information being provided. Sometimes, it even creates fictitious nicknames, interests, or achievements, exaggerating or inventing stories about the deceased.

The rise of AI in the memorial industry

It appears that the use of AI tools like ChatGPT in memorial services is more than just a personal choice; it’s an industry that’s rapidly growing. Multiple companies now offer paid services for AI-generated obituaries, capitalizing on the demand. Prices are affordable, making it accessible for many individuals seeking to honor loved ones with a personalized touch—albeit one shaped by an algorithm.

    Limitations and concerns

Despite its usefulness, AI-generated content isn’t without flaws. Instances have surfaced where the AI fabricates details—such as claiming a person founded a community theater or mentored a comedian—without any actual basis. These inaccuracies highlight the importance of human oversight, especially in sensitive contexts.

Beyond memorials, AI tools are being used in less appropriate ways. For example, Google’s Gemini AI once advised someone to add glue to their pizza—a clearly inappropriate and nonsensical suggestion. Similarly, Microsoft’s recent research indicates that over-reliance on AI can cause cognitive decline and hinder genuine research efforts. Experts worry about the ethical, psychological, and moral implications as AI becomes more integrated into daily life.

Moreover, AI companionship apps like Character AI and Nomi have given rise to a troubling trend: some users develop obsessive relationships with their digital partners, sometimes to the detriment of real-world social interactions. There are reports of individuals even becoming so engrossed that they get their AI partners pregnant or spend hundreds of dollars on these virtual relationships, deepening their immersion in a world of digital fantasy.

In summary, while AI’s potential is vast and varied, its misuse and unintended consequences serve as cautionary tales. As we continue to explore its capabilities, it’s crucial to navigate these innovations responsibly, mindful of both their benefits and risks.

  • Mastering Uda Matsuyama Castle in Assassin’s Creed Shadows

Mastering Uda Matsuyama Castle in Assassin’s Creed Shadows

If you’ve been exploring the various castles and forts in Assassin’s Creed Shadows, you likely know the drill by now. Each location is guarded by a set number of Samurai Daisho that you need to defeat to fully clear the area. Once you’ve taken them down, you’ll gain access to that region’s Legendary Chest.

These Legendary Chests are packed with unique weapons and armor, catering to both Yasuke and Naoe. Regardless of your chosen character, the rewards waiting for you at these locations will prove invaluable, especially when facing the game’s toughest bosses. We’ll guide you through stealthily clearing each area with Naoe and show you how to eliminate the four Samurai.

    Where Is Uda Matsuyama Castle?

The Uda Matsuyama Castle is located in the northeast part of Yamato, nestled in the mountains. The closest fast travel point, besides the one located within the castle, can be found at Uda Town Kakurega, just southwest of the castle.

You will find a fast-travel point inside the castle after you complete it, but it won’t be accessible right away.

This castle is also part of the quest ‘The Lost Envoys’ as you seek out The Wise of the Shinbakufu, so you might want to wait until that quest to explore it.

When you take on this quest, you’ll learn that the best approach is from the south, so plan accordingly.

How To Find & Assassinate The First Daisho

The envoy hints that the southern wall has been weakened, which you should exploit. Enter the castle using the large beams by the south wall and climb onto the roof of the building in the courtyard.

Upon entering the southwestern part of the castle, you will encounter the first Samurai Daisho patrolling between some structures, flanked by three guards. Here’s how to eliminate him:

    1. Take out the guard on the edge to the south, and observe the movement of the Daisho.
    2. Next, eliminate the nearest guard.
    3. Then, quickly take out the middle guard as the Daisho walks away from your position toward the north.
    4. With the other guards dispatched, you can silently finish off the first Samurai Daisho.

Alternatively, you can wait for the Daisho to wander to a secluded area away from the guards and then strike from above.

This method takes a bit more time but is much safer.

How To Find & Assassinate The Second Daisho

To find the second Samurai Daisho, head straight north along the northernmost row of buildings near the water.

This Daisho stands in a courtyard, where a guard is patrolling while facing outward. There’s another guard up the path towards the north, but he seems distracted.

The only possible witness is a worker who occasionally walks through the area—make sure to wait for him to pass.

Once the area is clear, jump down to assassinate the second Samurai Daisho and quickly return to the roof for easier access to the third and fourth Daisho.

How To Find & Assassinate The Third Daisho

After taking down the second Daisho, shift your focus southward to locate the third and fourth Samurai Daisho near the castle’s central courtyard with the large tower. Observe the surroundings before moving in.

The third Samurai Daisho is all alone in a small training courtyard, making him the easiest target of the four. Just be mindful of a worker who wanders through the area. Climb to the roof over the Daisho, jump down, and finish him off, leaving just one more.

The third Daisho has a lot of health, so be prepared for a brief fight if you can’t take him down in one hit.

How To Find & Assassinate The Fourth Daisho

The Uda Matsuyama Castle Fourth Daisho in Assassin's Creed Shadows.

The fourth Daisho is positioned slightly southeast from the large tower and presents a unique challenge.

While the courtyard is guarded, all the guards are spread apart except for the fourth Samurai Daisho and one guard right next to him. Sneak to the corner of the building directly above the Daisho and his guard.

Use Eagle Vision to identify your targets, as tree cover can sometimes obstruct your view.

Equip a tanto and unlock the skill for double assassinations to eliminate both targets at once. Afterward, climb back up to the building you jumped from and return to the Legendary Chest in the main tower for your reward.

What Rewards Do You Get From Uda Matsuyama Castle?

Once you successfully defeat all four Samurai Daisho, you can access the Legendary Chest located in the large tower in the castle’s southeastern area. Approach the red chest on the main floor to receive:

    • 3,000 Exp
    • An Engraving
    • Legendary Onna-musha Kosode Legendary Light Armor for Naoe

Despite the many enemies in this region, the rewards from Uda Matsuyama Castle are quite valuable, making the effort well worth it.

Even if you don’t collect all the side loot, you’ll leave with pockets full of goodies and new gear to try out.

    Side Loot

There’s a wealth of side loot to find in Uda Matsuyama Castle, so here are a few notable locations for valuable rewards:

    • Additional Loot:

      • In the courtyard where you eliminated the third Daisho, you can find a small chest that may contain an epic item.
      • In the main tower with the Legendary Chest, there are two piles of resources to gather.
      • Check a guardhouse in the northwestern part of the castle for a rare chest—there’s a guard you’ll need to deal with first.
      • In the far southeast corner, there’s a small guard tower holding a chest with crafting materials and a ration container.

    • 3,000 Exp
    • An Engraving
    • Legendary Onna-musha Kosode Legendary Light Armor for Naoe

Overall, despite the challenges in this area, the Oda Matsuyama Castle offers a variety of valuable rewards that make the effort worthwhile.

Whether or not you gather all the additional loot, you’ll leave with plenty of rewards and some new gear to enhance your gameplay.

    Synchronization Viewpoint

After defeating the four Daisho, head to the southeastern section of the castle and climb the tower adjacent to where you eliminated the third Daisho to gain synchronization at the viewpoint, which will also serve as a new fast-travel point.
