Hello To The New Moto Razr Phones Blingy Buds And Watch Comeback

Motorola has had an eventful week, unveiling its latest Razr and Edge series smartphones alongside a unique pair of open earbuds and its comeback into the smartwatch market after a lengthy absence.

Attendees at the launch event in New York got to experience firsthand a range of devices, including the Razr Ultra, Razr+, and the standard Razr, as well as the Watch Fit and Moto Buds Loop. For those wanting a quick overview of all that Lenovo’s Motorola has revealed, the details are outlined below.

What did Motorola unveil at its event in New York?

The spotlight is on the Motorola Razr Ultra 2025, the company’s latest flagship folding smartphone. It comes in an impressive array of colors and displays a 7-inch pOLED internal screen that boasts a refresh rate of 165Hz and can hit a peak brightness of 4,500 nits. Additionally, it includes a 4-inch external display with the same refresh rate and peak brightness of 3,500 nits.

This device is IP48 rated and features a newly designed hinge reinforced with titanium. It operates on the cutting-edge Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and incorporates a dual 50-megapixel rear camera setup and a 50-megapixel selfie camera located at the top of the internal display. The 4,700mAh battery supports 67W fast charging, providing a day's worth of power in just 8 minutes.

The Razr+ features slightly lower specifications than the Razr Ultra but still holds an IP48 rating, as does the base model Razr, which comes with a smaller external display measuring 3.6 inches and a lower resolution ultra-wide camera at 13 megapixels while still boasting a robust 4,500mAh battery.

The Edge 60 Pro, on the other hand, flaunts a quad-curved 6.7-inch pOLED display with a maximum brightness of 4,500 nits and carries “Pantone Validation.” It is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8350 Extreme and includes a massive 6,000mAh battery with support for 90W fast charging. The camera setup features a triple rear camera array with two 50-megapixel sensors and a 10-megapixel telephoto sensor, plus a 50-megapixel front facial camera.

What about the Motorola wearables announced for 2025?

The new Moto Buds Loop features an open-ear design that's tailored for adventurous lifestyles. These earbuds are available in two colors: French Grey adorned with Swarovski crystals and a more understated Trekking Green option. Battery life is rated at 37 hours when using the charging case, and they feature sound tuning by Bose with support for spatial audio.

Additionally, Motorola is making a comeback in the smartwatch sector with the Watch Fit, a budget-friendly alternative to devices like the classic Moto 360. The Watch Fit has a design reminiscent of the Apple Watch, rather than the traditional round shape, and does not run on Wear OS. With an aluminum case, plastic back, and a thickness of 9.5mm, it weighs merely 25g.

Equipped with numerous onboard sensors, including built-in GPS, the Watch Fit is water-resistant up to 5ATM and comes with a fabric band. The standout feature is its impressive battery life, boasting a claim of 16 days on a single charge.

Motorola has not yet disclosed pricing or availability details for the announced devices, but many of them incorporate Moto AI, along with a significant partnership with Pantone that extends to both color options and enhancements in displays and cameras.

Unique 2024 Folding Phone May Soon Have A Successor

The world’s first triple-screen foldable phone is set to receive an upgrade. The upcoming Huawei Mate XTs is likely to take over from the Huawei Mate XT that was released in China last year, as reported by Fixed Focus Digital (via Android Authority).

Details about this new device are still scarce, but it is expected to come equipped with the HiSilicon Kirin 9020 chipset, already found in Huawei’s Mate X6 and Mate 70 series. Apart from this, few modifications are anticipated as the brand moves from the Mate XT to the Mate XTs. Generally, Huawei maintains an “s” model naming structure when launching updates that feature upgraded internal components like system on chips (SoCs), while preserving most of the existing features.

With a distinctive design, the Mate XT can fold twice, allowing it to transform into a compact size when closed and a spacious tablet-like display when opened. This approach contrasts sharply with leading foldable phones like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold, which adopt a book-style folding mechanism.

The Mate XT features a 10.2-inch ultra-compact triple foldable display, a robust 5600mAh battery with support for 66-watt wired and 50W wireless charging, and a triple-lens rear camera system composed of 50MP, 12MP, and 12MP sensors. It runs on the HarmonyOS 4.2 operating system and is compatible with NFC and FM radio. The device also includes 16GB of RAM with options for 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB of internal storage and is powered by the Kirin 9010 chipset.

Since the Mate XT made its debut in September of the previous year, its successor is likely just a few months away from being officially revealed.

Considering purchasing a Huawei smartphone? Depending on your location, it may be a challenging endeavor. Nations such as the U.S., U.K., and Australia have imposed bans on Huawei devices due to security concerns.

When might consumers in the West see a trifold smartphone? Rumors suggest that Samsung is currently in development on one that could launch later this year.

Like many smartphone manufacturers, Samsung follows a consistent launch calendar, unveiling a new numbered version for each model annually. Hence, it was no surprise to learn about the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Galaxy Z Fold 7, expected to debut in 2025. Recent leaks have now confirmed these plans, revealing codenames and the existence of an intriguing third model.

According to the information shared by GalaxyClub, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 is identified by the codename B7, while the Galaxy Z Fold 7 carries the codename Q7. There is also a mysterious third device referred to as Q7M, though its specific identity remains uncertain. Given that this designation appears to derive from the Galaxy Z Fold 7, it suggests that Q7M may be a variant of the Fold series, yet its exact nature is still unknown.

GalaxyClub reports that the enigmatic Q7M is on a development timeline that closely aligns with the Galaxy Z Fold 7, but both devices are not anticipated to launch until the summer of 2025 or later. The introduction of the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy A56 in the early part of 2025 is likely to overshadow any new releases, drawing attention away from these devices.

Some enthusiasts speculate that the Q7M could represent the much-discussed trifold device that Samsung is working on. However, there are also whispers about a potential special edition of the Galaxy Z Flip. If this is indeed the case, the use of a derivative codename would raise questions about its connection to the Galaxy Z Fold series.

Additionally, there’s chatter about a more affordable foldable phone in development. While the Q7M might align well with this idea, until more concrete details emerge, it’s tough to draw any definitive conclusions. Creating a budget-friendly foldable phone would certainly appeal to many, but given the complexities involved in designing such devices, achieving an economical option could prove difficult.
