  • How To Catch Fish in Windrose: Completing and Solving Techniques

Catching food is essential when stranded on an island, but a Windrose pirate can’t survive on coconuts and dodo eggs alone. Luckily, the ocean is full of tasty seafood that you can catch and eat.

Fishing is a crucial part of survival because it provides meals that boost your stats and health. Here’s what you need to know about how to build a fishing rod, start fishing, and the different types of fish you can catch in Windrose.

    How to Unlock Fishing

You can unlock fishing by making a Simple Fishing Rod. This becomes available after you find the Foothills biome, where new resources like Hardwood and Iron are found. To craft the rod, you’ll need 5 Hardwood, 3 Rope, and 2 Iron Ingots at a level 2 workbench. Once you build the rod, head to a body of water, cast your line, and start fishing.

Fishing in Windrose is straightforward—there’s no mini-game. Simply click to cast your line, then click again when you hear the splash to reel in a fish.

When you catch a fish, right-click it in your inventory to turn it into a fillet. This fish fillet can be cooked over a fire to make meals that improve your stats and health.

Catching fish can also earn you the Fisherman Ring. After catching one fish or finding ten in chests, you unlock this ring. Wearing it gives you a fishing bonus, increasing your chance to catch more fish by 15%. Upgrading the ring boosts this bonus to 30%.

There are currently 10 fish available in Windrose, though more may be added later.

Here’s a quick tip: keep enough space in your inventory. Large or epic fish take up a whole slot, while common ones can stack up to 10.

You can find these fish in shallow or deep waters:

Fish Area Rarity Number of Fillets
    Blue Tang Shallows Uncommon 2-4
    Moon Angelfish Shallows Uncommon 2-4
    Queen Angelfish Shallows Uncommon 2-4
    Reef Snapper Shallows Uncommon 2-4
    Pink Wrasse Shallows Uncommon 2-4
    Sapphire Wrasse Shallows Uncommon 2-4
Red Snapper Deep Ocean Rare 8-12
Emerald Bluefish Deep Ocean Rare 8-12
Giant Mackerel Deep Ocean Epic 18-24
Large Barracuda Deep Ocean Epic 18-24

There is also a special non-edible fish called the Smasher, which can be caught randomly. This fish can be turned into a melee weapon, and its recipe will be added to your inventory once caught.

How To Fish In Tales Of The Shire: Completing and Solving

Hobbits enjoy many activities in Tales Of The Shire: A The Lord Of The Rings Game, from second breakfasts to relaxing afternoons in the fields. One favorite pastime is fishing, which helps you relax and gather useful ingredients for cooking.

Learning to fish is simple, but becoming skilled takes practice. With mentors like Old Noakes in Bywater, you’ll become a fisher hobbit quickly. Here’s what you need to start your fishing adventure, where to fish around the Shire, and tips on finding rare fish.

    How To Fish

As you play through the early quests, you’ll meet Old Noakes. This grumpy old hobbit will give you your first fishing rod and show you how to fish. At first, you can only fish at a few places, but more locations will unlock as you progress. Begin at Old Ruby’s Pond and the Stone Bridge Pool.

If you’re unsure where to go, open your map and look for fish icons. To fish, select your fishing rod from the tool wheel, head to the water near the docks where shadowy fish icons swim, and cast your line. Fish bite quickly. When a fish takes the bait, press the right button to start reeling it in.

The key to fishing is to keep the circle (your cursor or joystick) in the “sweet spot” — the center of the blue arc. Hold the input while reeling in the fish. Watch the color of the circle; if it turns red, stop reeling and relax the line for a moment before continuing. If the tension gets too high, the line will break, so be careful.

    Where To Find New Fish

New fish can be found all over Bywater. The best way to find out where is to open your journal and go to the encyclopedia. Select the fish tab to see all 31 types of fish and get tips on what seasons and weather conditions they appear in.

Once you catch a fish, its specific water location and the best time of day to find it will be recorded in your journal. The number of each fish you catch is tracked at the top of the entries, along with your biggest catch so far. Each entry also provides tips on how to prepare the fish when cooking, including which stations to use.

    What To Do With Fish

Fish are a valuable resource in Bywater. Early on, they help you earn money and prepare simple meals for neighbors. Since there’s no stamina bar, it’s a good idea to catch as many fish as you can each day. Keep some for cooking, and sell the rest to buy seeds and planters for your home.
