Hadise Responds to Sinan Burhan’s “Porn Costume” Criticism

Digital Phablet – Hadise Responds Firmly After Sinan Burhan Criticizes Her Stage Outfit.

Sinan Burhan, President of the Turkish Press Federation, criticized singer Hadise for her performance outfits. Burhan commented, “Hadise wore an outfit resembling that of a pornographic actress… Is this what you call art?”

In a statement posted on his social media, Sinan Burhan, head of the Turkey Press Federation, responded directly to Hadise. He said, “She stepped onto the stage in an outfit that looks like it belongs to a porn star. Is this truly art?” Burhan was highly critical of Hadise’s stage attire.

Burhan continued his critique by referencing renowned figures from Turkish arts and culture. He discussed the lasting impact of artists such as Aşık Veysel, Neşet Ertaş, Yaşar Kemal, Ara Güler, Necip Fazıl Kısakürek, and Ahmet Özhan, emphasizing how their work has profoundly influenced Turkish society and helped shape cultural norms. “If Hadise considers herself an artist, what do these icons represent?” he questioned.

    “YOUNG PEOPLE ARE BEING POISONED”

Burhan kept criticizing: addressing his audience, he remarked, “If you’re wondering why certain videos are being shared, this message is for you. There’s poison in the air for the youth—closing your eyes won’t make it disappear. You can’t hide from it. It’s time to stop talking.”

While many on social media disagreed with Burhan’s statements, Hadise’s team had yet to comment publicly.

HADISE’S RESPONSE: “REMOVE YOUR HANDS AND TONGUES FROM THE WOMAN’S BODY”

Burhan’s remarks sparked widespread debate online, but the singer quickly responded. Hadise stated that his choice of words was sexist and unjust. She clarified, “I am not the target of this vile, intentional post that uses clips from last year’s Harbiye concert to threaten women—my name is being unfairly dragged into this. The harassment directed at me underscores the importance of the legal proceedings I’ve initiated. I will continue to pursue justice. Leave women alone—stop with the interference.”

US Army Chief of Staff Ousted, Hegseth Reports Sources

US Army Chief of Staff Randy George was dismissed Thursday by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, according to three US defense officials speaking with Reuters. This move marks the latest personnel shake-up among the highest ranks of the Pentagon.

Hegseth, a former Fox News host, has been aggressively restructuring the department. The firing of a general amid active military operations is highly unusual. The Pentagon announced that George, who still had over a year remaining in his term, would retire immediately from his role as the 41st Army Chief of Staff. The department expressed gratitude for George’s long service and extended best wishes for his retirement.

Two sources, speaking anonymously, indicated that Hegseth also dismissed General David Hodne, commander of the Army’s Transformation and Training Command, and Major General William Green, head of the Army Chaplain Corps. No explanation was provided for George’s ousting, which coincides with ongoing US military buildup in the Middle East, including operations against Iran.

While naval and air forces primarily carry out regional strikes, the Army has deployed personnel for air defense and possibly ground operations — including thousands from the 82nd Airborne Division. George, an infantry officer with deployment experience in Iraq and Afghanistan, was confirmed as Army Chief of Staff in 2023, with terms typically lasting four years. Prior roles included vice chief of staff and military adviser to the Defense Secretary. He was known to be close to Army Secretary Dan Crenshaw, with whom he collaborated on initiatives to modernize weapons and reduce costs.

George’s removal adds to recent leadership upheavals at the Pentagon, following the firing of former Joint Chiefs Chair CQ Brown and other senior officers last year. The Pentagon has yet to comment further.

Dua Lipa Fires Manager Over Pro-Palestine Band Kneecap

Digital Phablet – The renowned Albanian-English pop star Dua Lipa allegedly terminated her manager’s contract after he endorsed a letter urging the exclusion of Irish rap group Kneecap from the Glastonbury Festival in July, due to their stance supporting Palestine.

As reported by The Mail on Sunday, multiple industry representatives also signed this letter, which was addressed to Michael Eavis, the founder of the festival, advocating for Kneecap’s removal from the performer lineup.

However, the letter was leaked on social media platforms, igniting widespread criticism and condemnation from pro-Palestine supporters and other music industry figures. Despite the controversy, Kneecap still performed at Glastonbury in July, where they expressed their backing for Palestine.

Dua Lipa dismisses manager for opposing pro-Palestine band Kneecap

A tweet from A Shot. highlighted:
“Dua Lipa has parted ways with her agent David Levy after he signed a petition aimed at preventing KNEECAP from performing at Glastonbury, due to their pro-Palestine activism. She considers him a supporter of Israel’s war in Gaza and the poor treatment of Palestinians.” Link to tweet

Following the leak, Lipa decided to sever ties with David Levy, her representative at WME, upon discovering his role in endorsing the letter. Lipa has consistently shown her support for Palestine and has called for a ceasefire in Gaza. Reports also suggest that Levy’s stance does not align with her political views.

A source close to Lipa stated, “She believes he supports Israel’s actions in Gaza, and his signing of that letter clearly reflects his position.”

Since October 7, 2023, ongoing Israeli military actions in Gaza have claimed the lives of over 65,000 Palestinians and wounded more than 166,000. Additionally, 440 Palestinians, including 147 children, have died from malnutrition, according to the Strip’s Health Ministry.

Oscar Nominations Delayed, Voting Extended Due to LA Fires

Los Angeles: The recent wildfires in Southern California have significantly impacted social life, reaching into the entertainment sector as well.

The Academy has extended the deadline for Oscar nomination voting by two days due to the ongoing fires. Voting for the nearly 10,000 Academy members commenced on January 8 and was initially set to conclude on January 12, as reported by ‘Variety’.

The new deadline is now January 14. Additionally, the announcement for the nominations, which was originally planned for January 17, has been rescheduled to January 19.

According to ‘Variety’, Conan O’Brien is set to host the Oscars in 2025, which will take place on March 2. The Academy communicated the schedule changes to its members on Wednesday afternoon through an email from CEO Bill Kramer.

“We extend our heartfelt sympathies to all those affected by the devastating wildfires in Southern California,” the email stated. “Many of our members and colleagues live and work in the Los Angeles region, and our thoughts are with you.”

The International Feature Shortlist Screening slated for Wednesday night in Los Angeles has been postponed to later in the week. Moreover, the in-person Bake-Off events for the Los Angeles Sound Branch and the Makeup Artists and Hairstylists Branch, both scheduled for January 11 in Los Angeles and New York City, have been canceled. The Visual Effects Branch Bake-Offs, also planned for January 11 in Los Angeles and the Bay Area, have similarly been called off.

This extension of the voting period coincides with the cancellation or postponement of numerous premieres and events in the Los Angeles area due to the severe fires. Amazon MGM Studios and Universal Pictures were among the first to cancel their premieres of ‘Unstoppable’ and ‘Wolf Man,’ originally set for Tuesday night. In the meantime, Paramount and Max also scrapped their Wednesday premieres of ‘Better Man’ and ‘The Pitt.’
