  • Top Locations for Completing Mole Rat Quests in Fallout 76

Top Locations for Completing Mole Rat Quests in Fallout 76

There are many different missions and challenges you’ll encounter regularly in the somewhat less destructive world of Fallout 76. One common task is to eliminate Mole Rats.

These Mole Rats appear in most parts of the game map, but they tend to be hard to find exactly when you’re searching for them. If you want to complete this task quickly, here are some good spots where Mole Rats are plentiful.

    ### Best Places to Find Mole Rats in Appalachia

Mole Rats are among the easiest creatures to defeat in the wasteland. However, be aware that each bite they give can expose you to some radiation. Carrying Rad-X or Radaway can help reduce your radiation exposure or heal it immediately after.

Besides giving you a chance to complete challenges, Mole Rats also drop useful resources. You can collect Mole Rat meat, which can be used to cook food, as well as Teeth (which can be refined into Bone) and Hide (which can be turned into Leather). This makes them one of the simplest sources for these crafting materials.

    | Location Name | Area |
    |——————————————|—————-|
    | Gauley Mine (Inside) | Central |
    | Riverside Manor (Outside) | South-Central|
    | Poseidon Power Substation PX-02 | Central |
    | Green Country Lodge (Outside) | West-Central |
    | Hillfolk Hotdogs | West-Central |

Mole Rats are found in many other locations too, but these areas have a high concentration and are close enough together to make a manageable route. Traveling through this small zone should give you plenty of chances to find and deal with Mole Rats efficiently.

  • How to Complete the Sentinel Control System Companion in Fallout 4

How to Complete the Sentinel Control System Companion in Fallout 4

One of the highlights of Fallout 4’s Creation Club content is the addition of new companions. Among these is a large set of Power Armor that doesn’t require a pilot. It simply roams the game world with you, attacking anyone who stands in your way. To unlock this powerful armor, you must complete the Malevolent Malfunction Quest.

In this quest, you discover a Brotherhood of Steel traitor. Your task is to eliminate him and steal his AI-controlled Power Armor. Here’s a straightforward guide to completing the quest and adding this armor to your team.

    Follow the Distress Signal

Start the quest by locating the Distress Signal Beacon on your radio. Follow the signal, which can sometimes be tricky because it doesn’t always appear at the right time. A good spot to find it is near Drumlin Diner, just southeast of Concord.

When you find the signal, tune into it on your radio. You will hear a steady beep; the faster the beeps, the closer you are to your destination. The target location is slightly southeast of the diner, west of Lexington.

Fight the Rogue Sentinel Power Armor

Once you arrive at the source of the distress signal, you’ll encounter hostile Rogue Sentinel Power Armors. You need to defeat both of them to proceed.

After defeating the enemies, loot their bodies and grab the Sentinel System Log. Check your Pip-Boy’s Miscellaneous items and play the log. It reveals that a person named Dawson reprogrammed the Power Armors to attack their allies before heading to the Schoelt Propane Station. This is your next destination.

You can find the bodies of Dawson’s former allies, Vasquez and Maria, nearby. They each hold a Holo Tape you can read, although this isn’t required for the main quest.

Meet Dawson at the Propane Station

The Propane Station is located southwest of where you picked up the distress signal, close to the Federal Ration Stockpile and ArcJet Systems.

When you arrive at the station, you’ll find Dawson. He won’t greet you kindly — he immediately opens fire. You must fight and kill him. Afterward, loot his body to find his footlocker key.

Use the key to open his footlocker on the counter inside the remains of the building. Inside, you’ll find his Holotape. Play it to learn more about Dawson’s work with the Institute. The key piece of information is the passcode to his Sentinel Power Armor: “Capital Tripwire Echo.”

Outside, locate the Sentinel near a truck and a large propane tank. Approach it and interact to ‘hack’ it, then choose ‘activate.’ This action transforms the Sentinel into your Power Armor companion, which can follow you and assist in combat. This marks the end of the quest.

  • Top Radstag Locations for Completing and Solving in Fallout 76

Top Radstag Locations for Completing and Solving in Fallout 76

Radstags are mutated deer created by the radioactive environment left after the Great War. Despite their eerie, post-nuclear look, these mutated animals still provide useful resources for both settlers and raiders in Fallout 76.

You can gather their meat, hides, and blood for survival, trading, crafting, or completing quests. While Radstags are common even after the fallout, certain locations are better suited for hunting if you need quick kills or specific materials.

Updated on November 6, 2025, by Andrew Scariati: The list of Radstag locations in Fallout 76 has expanded over time as new areas are added, existing ones are changed, and new events influence spawn patterns. If you’re looking for the best places to find Radstags, we’ve got all the top spots covered.

    ### What Radstag Variants Are There?

In your travels across Appalachia, you’ll encounter 12 different types of Radstags:

    1. Radstags
    2. Radstag Yearling
    3. Radstag Doe
    4. Erratic Radstag
    5. Erratic Radstag Doe
    6. Albino Radstag
    7. Rabid Radstag
    8. Devolved Radstag
    9. Devolved Radstag Doe
    10. Glowing Radstag
    11. Sickly Radstag
    12. Obervant Radstag

Each type has a different chance to appear, but Glowing Radstags are more reliably found near Seneca Rocks Visitor Center. They can drop notable items like Radstag meat or hides, plus other rare drops. The Sickly Radstag often drops fragrant venison, nuclear waste, glowing meat, and glowing blood, while Glowing Radstags drop nuclear material, glowing meat, or glowing blood. Since the Albino, Rabid, and Sickly variants are rarer, you might need to check multiple locations to find them. These deer are generally calm unless approached—so observe from a distance if you prefer.

    ### The Most Reliable Radstag Locations

While Radstags can be found randomly across Appalachia, there are specific spots where herds spawn more consistently:

    – Near Gauley Mine and Seneca Rocks Visitor Center are top accessible places; you can fast-travel to these landmarks and step out to find Radstags nearby.
    – In Toxic Valley, a small herd can often be found west-northwest of the Crater along the border.
    – Positions in Savage Divide, like Thomas Farmhouse east of Dent & Sons Construction, often host multiple Albino Radstags.
    – Twin Lakes near the Marigold Pavilion are good for finding Radstags in the southeastern area.
    – On the path up into the mountains at Whitespring Golf Club, 2-3 Radstags usually appear.
    – Behind Whitespring Resort, a backyard pond often has Radstags grazing.
    – Just north of Whitesprings Resort at Safe N’ Clean Disposal, herds appear unpredictably.
    – In the Old Crimora Mines area of Skyline Valley, Radstags spawn but the location may vary with game updates.
    – Between Lakeside Cabins and Summerville along Route 87, Radstags can appear in varying numbers.
    – Hemlock Holes in Toxic Valley and the nearby junkyard are common spots.
    – Near Wixon Homestead in the Forest Region, Radstags are often present, especially around Gilman Lumber Mill.
    – At Black Bear Lodge in Toxic Valley, a small herd roams the flat open areas.
    – Near Gauley Mine or along the train tracks by Gauley Mine, Radstags are frequently spotted.
    – The area southwest of Seneca Rocks Visitor Center also hosts large herds, including Glowing and Albino Radstags.

Keep in mind that Radstag spawns are timed—others may have already claimed the herd before you arrive. If you don’t find what you’re looking for, try switching servers to find fresh spawns.

While exploring naturally is an option, starting at key locations like Gauley Mine or Seneca Rocks Visitor Center increases your chances of finding Radstags easily. In Toxic Valley, just roam around to stumble upon herds, and always check the creature of the title before shooting albino Radstags, as some variants like the “Observant Radstag” are rumored to signal hidden stashes during random encounters called “Follow The Trail.”

  • Fallout Season 2 Gets Release Date and New Vegas Look

Fallout Season 2 Gets Release Date and New Vegas Look

Viva New Vegas! Prime Video has announced the release date and shared first-look images of the upcoming second season of Fallout, which will explore the post-apocalyptic city of New Vegas.

In the finale of Fallout Season 1, Hank escapes in his power armor with plans to reach New Vegas—one of the few major cities rebuilt from the ruins of Las Vegas after the nuclear disaster. This city is among the most iconic locations within the Fallout universe and sets the stage for the fourth video game, Fallout: New Vegas.

Season 2 features a cast including Ella Purnell as Lucy MacLean, Aaron Moten as Maximus, Walton Goggins as the Ghoul/Cooper Howard, Kyle MacLachlan as Hank MacLean, Moisés Arias as Norm MacLean, and Frances Turner as Barb Howard.

The new images tease the upcoming season, showing Lucy and a Ghoul, presumably the character Howard portrays, having conversations amidst the wasteland while heading toward New Vegas. They’re searching for Lucy’s father, who may hold crucial answers about the Ghoul’s missing family. Additionally, there are historic photos of the Ghoul from before the war, capturing moments where he interacts with his wife, Barb.

Other images depict Maximus still allied with the Brotherhood of Steel and Norm continuing to stay in the Vault. You can view the season 2 images below, offering a glimpse into what’s ahead.

Fallout is based on the popular video game franchise that delves into themes of societal inequality in a world almost devoid of resources. Set 200 years after humanity’s collapse, people had to retreat underground into fallout shelters, leaving a violent and unpredictable surface world waiting for them.

Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Graham Wagner serve as creators, showrunners, and executive producers of the series, with Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy also involved as executive producers. The show is produced by Amazon MGM Studios and Kilter Films, in partnership with Bethesda Game Studios and Bethesda Softworks.

Following its debut in April 2024, Season 1 received positive reviews and quickly became the second most-watched series in Prime Video history, surpassed only by The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. The second season is set to premiere on Prime Video this December.

  • Fallout Creator Tim Cain: Devs Should Stick to Their Favorite Genres

Fallout Creator Tim Cain: Devs Should Stick to Their Favorite Genres

Tim Cain created Fallout in the 1990s, giving rise to one of the most beloved series in gaming. However, he has been open about how the first Fallout game was viewed as a “B Tier” project at Interplay.

So, how do you convince your coworkers to join a project that seems less promising than what else the studio is working on? It turns out that pizza and passion are all you need.

In his latest YouTube video, Cain shares tips for aspiring game developers. He encourages them to stick with genres they love. He uses Fallout as an example, explaining that free pizza got developers interested, but their passion for the game kept them involved and helped bring it to life.

Tim Cain Explains How Limitations Helped Fallout’s Development

“I gathered everyone after hours and sent an email inviting them to a conference room for pizza,” says Cain. “I didn’t realize that this limitation actually helped form a motivated and passionate team. What seemed like a limitation ended up being a great way to find an awesome team to work with.”

Cain believes that working within limitations has always benefited him and encourages other developers to do the same. This includes playing to your strengths and focusing on genres that excite you. He also created tools to speed up game development, mentioning Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura as an example. Cain’s challenge in attracting developers for Fallout meant that only those who truly believed in it joined the project.

Despite this, there were still external pressures on Fallout’s development. Cain has explained that he had to push back against Interplay’s desire for real-time combat, which was eventually changed to turn-based mechanics. If he hadn’t done that, Fallout could have felt a lot like Diablo. The canceled Fallout 3, codenamed Van Buren, would have featured real-time combat.

First Episode Air Date: April 10, 2024

Cast: Ella Purnell, Aaron Moten, Kyle MacLachlan, Moises Arias, Xelia Mendes-Jones, Walton Goggins

Where to watch: Amazon Prime Video

  • Exploring Untapped Fallout Lore: A Missed Opportunity in Games

Exploring Untapped Fallout Lore: A Missed Opportunity in Games

The Fallout series has always offered intriguing and rich world-building, but there’s one aspect it’s only recently begun to delve into more thoroughly. While Fallout has garnered acclaim for its engaging gameplay, environments, and character interactions that grant players significant freedom, the game’s setting stands out as one of its strongest attributes. Unlike conventional post-apocalyptic narratives, Fallout’s distinctive 1950s-inspired sci-fi universe, fueled by nuclear energy, sets it apart with a unique aesthetic.

Most post-apocalyptic stories take place in a reality closely resembling ours, with only minor alterations, leaving little room to explore characters or the world before an apocalyptic event like the Great War. However, Fallout bucks this trend. Although the series has hinted at the causes of the Great War that initiated its ongoing fight to reclaim civilization, more detailed explorations of the events leading to it have only recently emerged. With a significant time gap between the collapse of society and the narratives of the games themselves, there is abundant opportunity to unveil long-standing mysteries.

Fallout Is Finally Delving Into Its Mysterious Origins

The Pre-War Era Holds The Keys To Fallout’s Greatest Mysteries

Even after so long in ruins, it’s evident that the influences of the pre-war era are still deeply felt throughout the wasteland. The very first antagonist of the series existed before the bombs fell, and his ambitions to advance humanity through grotesque mutations stemmed from that time. Though there are numerous references to the world before the apocalypse, chances to directly experience it are limited, primarily confined to brief simulations or the introduction of Fallout 4.

There’s still considerable ambiguity and untold stories that invite interpretation. However, it appears that the Fallout series is finally addressing some of its longstanding questions, particularly through its television adaptation. By further investigating widely speculated topics, such as the origins of the Great War, the fate of the NCR, and the secrets of Vault-Tec, the show seems poised to lay the groundwork for a future Fallout game.

Previous entries in the franchise demonstrate that there’s plenty of room to fill in the gaps through playable narratives or iconic characters like Robert House.

While some changes in the storyline—like the future of the NCR—haven’t been received as warmly as hoped, it’s refreshing to see more insight into Fallout‘s original pre-war backdrop. With leaks suggesting upcoming scenes might revisit New Vegas, there’s a strong desire to explore Fallout‘s universe from a similar pre-war perspective. Although the apocalyptic landscape forms the foundation of the Fallout series, previous titles illustrate that there’s still potential to fill in narrative gaps through playable segments or significant historical figures.

The Pre-War Era Of Fallout Offers Some Of Its Most Iconic Moments

Providing A Stark Contrast To Fallout’s Grim Future

While the lengthy opening sequence of Fallout 4 can be tedious for those replaying the game, it establishes a crucial connection to the Sole Survivor’s backstory. Rather than simply waking up from cryogenic sleep after a brief cutscene, experiencing the moments leading up to the bombings firsthand makes the subsequent devastation even more striking. Fallout 4 serves as a prime example of how integrating pre-war narratives and characters can remain relevant even hundreds of years later, seen in smaller interactions such as retrieving Codsworth from the town’s ruins or meeting the ghoulish Vault-Tec representative.

Fallout 4 exemplifies the ability to weave pre-war scenarios and characters into the narrative even centuries later.

Incorporating these backstory elements can often seem constrained to lengthy prologues, but opportunities for segments like Kellog’s backstory flashback still exist. This quest provides valuable context for his deplorable actions against the Sole Survivor, allowing players to determine if his past justifies his current behavior. Though the gameplay demands little from the Sole Survivor during this sequence, the possibility of experiencing a pre-war flashback or memory while engaging with the environment and characters could be a fantastic innovation for the series.

Fallout Rejected Its Creator’s Original Ending, But Fallout 3 Did It Better

This idea from the creator of the series didn’t make sense for the ending of Fallout 1, but Fallout 3 pulled it off in a much better way.

Flashbacks aren’t the only means by which Fallout can connect to the pre-war period; numerous characters have survived since before the bombs fell, providing a unique yet often cynical viewpoint on the wasteland. Characters like The Master, Robert House, and surviving Ghouls bring intriguing narratives, contrasting sharply with the Vault Dweller’s outlook from the pre-war days. While some individuals have upheld their principles over the years, many have morphed into twisted versions of their former selves, corrupted by the wasteland’s harshness.

The Tranquility Lane quest from Fallout 3 is a prime example of providing players agency in a pre-war context, even if it occurs within a limited simulation as part of a Vault experiment.

The most memorable terminal entries and holotapes often document pre-war events at specific locations, illustrating what the world looked like before the bombs fell while telling isolated yet compelling tales. The Vaults in Fallout are quintessential examples of the indelible pre-war impact within the game world, revealing the ultimate fate of horrific experiments across centuries and allowing players to inhabit the role of a vault dweller. Although vaults reflect a warped version of pre-war society under extreme circumstances, they still hold significant ties to life prior to the Great War.

Fallout 5 Should Emphasize Its Pre-War Connections

Following A Complete Story 200 Years In The MakingFallout New Vegas key art with characters in power armor from Fallout 4 and Fallout 76.

Witnessing the success of the Fallout series on-screen, with its refreshing take on the franchise’s backstory and new narratives, sparks anticipation for how Fallout 5 might incorporate these elements. While merging cinematic storytelling into an open-world exploration game can be challenging, there’s ample opportunity for expanding iconic scenes rooted in pre-war inspiration.

Offering players the chance to define their character’s origins could enhance roleplaying and narrative opportunities beyond existing frameworks.

A potential approach for a future Fallout title could involve creating a more customizable and character-driven story, allowing players to select distinct backgrounds or life paths, reminiscent of Cyberpunk 2077. While Fallout already employs the S.P.E.C.I.A.L. and perk systems to enhance individual playthroughs, permitting players to shape their character’s past could dramatically increase both roleplaying and storytelling dimensions, altering the past to impact the post-war future.

With talk of a sequel to New Vegas or a spin-off under a new studio, there is substantial potential to capitalize on past successes and failures while innovating on the formula that rendered it popular. Although it may be a while before the next Fallout installment materializes, it has ample time to provide a groundbreaking experience that explores both new and unresolved stories from the past.

  • Creative Strategies for Mastering Fallout Shelter

Creative Strategies for Mastering Fallout Shelter

Playing Fallout Shelter offers a fantastic way to dive into the universe of Fallout without a significant time commitment. Whether you’re on mobile, console, or PC, there are numerous tips and strategies to enhance your gameplay and successfully manage your Vault as the overseer.

From room construction to how many Dwellers to send outside, optimizing your gameplay in Fallout Shelter involves various strategies. We’ve prepared a guide loaded with the best practices to help your Vault flourish. A bit of practice goes a long way, and we’re here to assist you!

Updated October 28, 2024 by Zoë J. Osik: Our guide now features additional tips and tricks for Fallout Shelter on mobile, ensuring that your Vault thrives. Don’t forget about your Dwellers; they’re counting on you now more than ever, and we’ll help you keep them happy and in great shape.

    Take It Slow

Your main challenge is likely to be expanding too rapidly. While it’s thrilling to unlock new rooms and resources for upgrading your Vault, trying to build too quickly can have serious repercussions.

New rooms require more Dwellers, and if you don’t manage your resources well, you might find power, food, and water dwindling fast. Instead of struggling to catch up, focus on building your Vault one room at a time and upgrading as necessary.

    Focus on Crafting

    Crafting rooms in Fallout Shelter

As you progress, you’ll unlock workshops, including the Weapon, Outfit, and Theme Workshops. While these rooms come with high costs, they allow you to create new items for your Dwellers to use.

Some items can only be acquired through crafting!

Though crafting takes time and resources, it’s an excellent method to utilize junk in Fallout Shelter. This will free up space and provide your Dwellers with better equipment, aiding them in defending the Vault and exploring the wasteland.

    Send Dwellers to Explore

    Dwellers exploring the wasteland

Let your Dwellers venture into the wasteland to find junk, weapons, outfits, and other treasures. It may take some time, but their returns filled with items and bottle caps will be worth the wait.

Since it can be risky, ensure the Dwellers going out have the highest SPECIAL stats and good weapons. You should also check on them periodically to verify they haven’t fallen in battle. If they do, you’ll need to either remove them permanently from the Vault or spend valuable bottle caps to revive them.

    Rush Your Rooms

    Rush chance in Fallout Shelter

If resources are running low, you can Rush the room to generate more. The downside is there’s a chance for an incident, but if the odds are manageable, it might be worth it.

A successful Rush can prevent power outages, starvation, or other mishaps affecting your Vault. You might even experience consecutive successful Rushes, but be warned that each one raises the odds of an incident occurring.

    Complete Objectives

    Objectives in Fallout Shelter

Objectives serve as helpful markers for enhancing your Vault. Completing them can earn you bottle caps, Nuka Cola Quantum, Lunchboxes, and Pet Carriers, which strengthen your Vault and add unique bonuses.

You can discard one objective per day for free, but further removals come at a cost. It’s a smart idea to discard any you can’t accomplish, such as tasks that require giving up surplus weapons or risking Radscorpion attacks just for a reward.

    Train Your Dwellers

    Training rooms in Fallout Shelter

Initially, your Dwellers will possess low SPECIAL stats. Fortunately, with the right resources, they can quickly develop their skills. Construct training rooms to enhance SPECIAL stats over time.

Boosting these stats improves Dweller efficiency, and if your Dwellers have children, they might inherit these traits. Aim to create a Vault filled with SPECIAL Dwellers for a better experience in the wasteland. While stats can be supplemented with gear, having them as inherent traits is much more beneficial.

    Locate The Mysterious Stranger

Find the Mysterious Stranger in Fallout Shelter

If you hear a sneaky piano tune, stop everything and look around for the Mysterious Stranger, who dons a fedora and trench coat. Spotting him rewards you with a random amount of bottle caps; you might even score over 3,000 caps all at once, although the minimum can be just 98.

    Embark on Quests

    Quest information in Fallout Shelter

Once you unlock the Overseer’s Office, you can send Dwellers out on quests. Although quests take time, they enable you to actively participate in your Dwellers’ adventures and help them gather bottle caps and rewards in the wasteland.

Ensure your Dwellers are equipped with solid weapons and gear for survival, along with Stimpaks and RadAways to keep them healthy during their missions.

    Be Ready for the Unexpected

No matter how well you prepare, incidents will occur. It’s essential to arm your Dwellers, upgrade your Vault Door, and maintain a steady supply of Stimpaks and RadAways. An unexpected incident can turn a simple issue into a major crisis.

Your resource production will face interruptions, and you’ll need to Rush your rooms to quickly regain stability. Stay calm, take a deep breath, and prepare for the next challenge.

    Keep Dwellers Content

Above all, it’s crucial to keep your Dwellers happy. Happy Dwellers are more productive, which leads to increased resource production. Ensure they’re healthy, in a positive environment, and have enough resources.

If a Dweller appears to be unhappy, assign them to the Living Quarters for social interaction and relaxation. Dwellers require opportunities to unwind and escape stressful situations, so be attentive to their moods to maintain overall Vault efficiency.

    Improve Dweller Quality

If you want your Vault to operate efficiently, focus on breeding better Dwellers. This involves carefully selecting parents and training to produce the highest quality offspring.

Although you can individually train Dwellers, this method is time-consuming. It’s far more effective to have Dwellers give birth to gifted offspring rather than using limited resources for training. Alternatively, discover rare Dwellers with existing high stats to save time and effort!
