  • Ancient Metal Fueled Life Before Earth’s Oxygen Era

Ancient Metal Fueled Life Before Earth’s Oxygen Era

Over three billion years ago, life on Earth encountered a significant challenge. The oceans contained only trace amounts of molybdenum, a rare metal crucial to many biological processes today. However, recent research indicates that some of the earliest living organisms were already utilizing this metal long before it became more abundant in Earth’s environment.

This discovery shifts the current understanding of how early life evolved and persisted on a primitive Earth. The study, published in Nature Communications, suggests that the use of molybdenum by ancient microbes occurred much earlier than previously thought. Although molybdenum might seem unfamiliar, it plays a vital role inside cells by aiding enzymes that drive key chemical reactions involving carbon, nitrogen, and sulfur. These reactions are fundamental to energy production and the transport of nutrients within ecosystems. Without molybdenum, such processes would be far too slow to sustain life.

Betül Kaçar, the senior author of the study and head of the Kaçar Lab at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, explains that understanding when early life first began using molybdenum helps scientists pinpoint when some of Earth’s earliest metabolic systems came into existence. Today, molybdenum is quite common, but during the Archean Eon—over 3 billion years ago—Earth’s oceans held only tiny amounts of it.

Previously, scientists believed that early organisms mainly relied on tungsten, a metal with similar properties, which some microbes in extreme environments still use today. This led to the popular “tungsten first” theory, proposing that ancient life initially evolved with tungsten and only transitioned to using molybdenum after oxygen levels increased, making molybdenum more readily available.

The recent study challenges this idea. By examining geological records and reconstructing the history of metal utilization across evolutionary history, researchers found evidence that both molybdenum and tungsten were already in use by microbes between approximately 3.7 and 3.1 billion years ago—well before the Great Oxidation Event about 2.45 billion years ago. This major shift in Earth’s atmosphere, driven by photosynthetic microorganisms, marked a significant increase in oxygen levels.

The scientists suggest that early life might have found tiny pockets of molybdenum deep within the oceans, near hydrothermal vent systems on the seafloor. These underwater volcanic vents release various metals—including iron, copper, nickel, cobalt, tungsten, and molybdenum—creating specialized environments where early microbes could access scarce resources.

Despite its scarcity, molybdenum may have provided significant advantages. Its effectiveness in supporting enzyme functions under diverse chemical conditions might explain how early life evolved methods to find and utilize this metal against the odds.

These findings also have implications for the search for extraterrestrial life. They remind us that alien ecosystems might not follow the same pathways or rely on the same chemicals as modern Earth life. Instead of only targeting planets that resemble Earth, scientists may need to consider a broader range of environments where alternative metals, chemicals, or oxygen levels could support life.

Overall, the research demonstrates that life can be remarkably adaptable, finding creative ways to survive and thrive even in the most challenging conditions.

  • Gale of Darkness: The Best Evolution for Completing and Solving

Gale of Darkness: The Best Evolution for Completing and Solving

Eevee is the first Pokémon you receive in Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness, making your choice of evolution one of the most significant decisions you’ll face during your playthrough. Each of the five Eeveelutions offers unique type advantages and stat benefits, but you can only evolve your Eevee into one form per playthrough — so your choice is final for that run.

When you reach a certain non-player character (NPC) who unlocks this decision, it can be a tough choice. This guide covers the benefits of each Eeveelution in Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness and suggests which one might be the best to use overall.

    How to Obtain Each Eeveelution

Early in the game, once you arrive at Gateon Port, enter the shop on the left side of town, where you’re collecting a machine part for the story. Inside, you’ll find an Eevee expert sea captain. Talking to him will offer you one evolution item, and your choice determines which Eeveelution you can get. The options are Water Stone, Thunderstone, Fire Stone, Sun Shard, and Moon Shard.

    Vaporeon

To get Vaporeon, select the Water Stone and use it on Eevee. This process is straightforward and works exactly like in other Generation 3 games such as Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen. You can evolve Eevee whenever you want after choosing the stone.

Tip: Vaporeon is a safe choice if you want a bulky Pokémon that remains useful throughout most of the story. It requires no extra setup beyond selecting the correct item and becomes a powerful Water-type quickly.

    Jolteon

Choose the Thunderstone and use it on Eevee. Like Vaporeon, this is an instant stone evolution, with no friendship or timing requirements. Jolteon is excellent for early-game speed and offensive power, making it a swift attacker right after evolution. It’s perfect if you need a fast Electric-type Pokémon that can hit hard and often move first.

    Flareon

Select the Fire Stone and use it on Eevee. Similar to the other stones, Flareon evolves immediately once the item is used, without any additional conditions.

Note: Flareon is still usable but generally the least favored among the three stones. It’s effective early on, but later Fire-type options like Vulpix or Growlithe tend to outperform Flareon in terms of speed, attack, and move pool.

    Espeon

Pick the Sun Shard and raise Eevee’s friendship while the shard is in your bag. Once the friendship level is high enough, leveling up Eevee will cause it to evolve into Espeon, consuming the Sun Shard. Unlike in mainline games, where Espeon evolves during daytime, here it evolves based solely on friendship with the Sun Shard, since XD doesn’t utilize time-based events.

Extra: Eevee’s friendship can reach a high enough level to evolve into Espeon or Umbreon fairly early, often before you finish your second battle with Chobin at Kaminko’s House.

    Umbreon

Choose the Moon Shard and similarly raise Eevee’s friendship while the shard remains in your bag. Once the required friendship is met and Eevee levels up, it will evolve into Umbreon, consuming the Moon Shard.

Note: Unlike the main series, this evolution does not depend on nighttime; the Moon Shard is used instead.

Can You Get All Eeveelutions in One Playthrough?

In Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness, the only Eevee you can acquire is your starter, meaning you cannot get multiple Eeveelutions in a single run unless you trade or start new saves. The game only provides one evolution item in Gateon Port, so your starter Eevee can only become one form. To get other forms, you need to either start another playthrough or trade Eevee from other compatible Generation 3 games like Pokémon FireRed, LeafGreen, Ruby, or Sapphire. However, since the Nintendo Switch version of Pokémon XD isn’t currently compatible with Pokémon Home or other trading services, trading with other games isn’t possible at this time. The only real way to get more than one Eeveelution in a single game remains restarting or trading through external methods not supported in this version.

    Which Eeveelution Is Best?

Objectively, Espeon is considered the strongest Eeveelution in Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness. It’s a potent Psychic type with solid stats, and its move pool remains useful throughout most of the campaign. From early on, Espeon offers a fast special attacker capable of defeating many of the weaker, lower-level Pokémon encountered in trainers’ teams with moves like Confusion and Psybeam. Although its defenses are modest, its Special Attack is high enough to score one-hit KO hits against many Pokémon, especially Poison-types used by Team Snagem.

Alternatives: Jolteon and Vaporeon are also excellent choices. Jolteon excels if your team needs a speedster with Electric coverage, while Vaporeon provides bulk and staying power for longer battles.

Less Recommended: Umbreon tends to be harder to justify as a main choice because, although very resilient, it is slower and has a more limited offensive movepool. Many other Dark-type Pokémon later in the game outshine Umbreon in terms of power. Flareon, in particular, doesn’t stand out as much since other Fire-types later in the game, like Growlithe or Arcanine, outperform it in speed and attack.

Your Eevee’s evolution in Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness depends on your item choice and friendship level, but it’s limited to your starter Eevee unless you find ways to trade or restart. Espeon generally offers the best overall performance, but Jolteon and Vaporeon remain strong functional options for specific roles.

  • All Special Evolution Pokémon and How to Complete Their Evolutions in Pokémon FireRed & LeafGreen

All Special Evolution Pokémon and How to Complete Their Evolutions in Pokémon FireRed & LeafGreen

Just like in their original Game Boy Advance versions, Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen include many special evolutions from the original 151 Generation One Pocket Monsters and beyond. What some players might not realize is that these special evolutions are also locked until reaching a certain point in the game.

To quickly fill your Pokédex or to build a team with favorites like Gengar and Raichu, this guide covers all the available special evolutions in Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen.

    Evolution Stone Evolutions

Using evolution stones is the simplest way to evolve certain Pokémon in FireRed and LeafGreen—enabling you to instantly evolve Pokémon like Eevee into Jolteon or Poliwhirl into Poliwrath, with no level restrictions.

Here’s a list of all Pokémon available in these games that can evolve with an evolution stone:

    Pokémon Stone Evolves Into
    Nidorina Moon Stone Nidoqueen
    Nidorino Moon Stone Nidoking
    Clefairy Moon Stone Clefable
    Jigglypuff Moon Stone Wigglytuff
    Vulpix Fire Stone Ninetales
    Growlithe Fire Stone Arcanine
    Eevee Fire Stone Flareon
    Poliwhirl Water Stone Poliwrath
    Shellder Water Stone Cloyster
    Staryu Water Stone Starmie
    Eevee Water Stone Vaporeon
    Pikachu Thunder Stone Raichu
    Eevee Thunder Stone Jolteon
    Gloom Leaf Stone Vileplume
    Weepinbell Leaf Stone Victreebel
    Exeggcute Leaf Stone Exeggutor
    Gloom Sun Stone Bellossom

Note: Gloom can evolve into Bellossom only after obtaining the National Dex, which requires defeating the Elite Four.

Some stones can be purchased in the Celadon City Department Store (4th Floor), including Fire, Water, Thunder, and Leaf Stones. Others can be found in wild locations like Mt. Moon (Moon Stones), Seafoam Islands (Water Stones), or in post-game areas such as Sevii Islands (Sun Stones).

    Trade Evolutions

Certain Pokémon only evolve through trading. For example, trading Machoke will turn it into Machamp, and Kadabra into Alakazam.

All trade-evolving Pokémon in FRLG are:

    Pokémon Evolves Into Trade It
    Kadabra Alakazam Yes
    Machoke Machamp Yes
    Graveler Golem Yes
    Haunter Gengar Yes

In the Switch version, trade features remain, but you no longer need a physical link cable or wireless adapter as in the Game Boy Advance versions. However, note that trading and battling are limited to local connections; online multiplayer is not supported in these versions.

    Trade Evolutions Requiring Held Items

In FireRed and LeafGreen, some Pokémon need to be traded holding specific items to evolve. Examples include:

    Pokémon Item Needed Evolves Into
    Onix Metal Coat Steelix
    Scyther Metal Coat Scizor
    Seadra Dragon Scale Kingdra
    Poliwhirl King’s Rock Politoed
    Slowpoke King’s Rock Slowking
    Porygon Up-Grade Porygon2

Important: Since some of these Pokémon (Steelix, Scizor, Kingdra, Politoed, Slowking, Porygon2) are not from Generation One, you need to have obtained the National Dex after defeating the Elite Four to evolve them in FRLG. Before unlocking the National Dex, trading such Pokémon (even holding the required items) will not result in evolution.

    Friendship Evolutions

Seven Pokémon in FireRed and LeafGreen evolve once their friendship level is high enough. This requires bonding through various actions such as giving items, traveling, or battling. The Pokémon include:

Pokémon Evolves Into How To Evolve
Golbat Crobat High friendship, level up
Chansey Blissey High friendship, level up
Pichu Pikachu High friendship, level up
Cleffa Clefairy High friendship, level up
Igglybuff Jigglypuff High friendship, level up
Togepi Togetic High friendship, level up
Marill Azurill High friendship, level up

To speed up friendship, keep Pokémon in your party, avoid letting them faint, and steer clear of items that lower friendship. Once friendship is high enough, you can level up the Pokémon (even with Rare Candies) to trigger evolution. Before obtaining the National Dex, Pokémon like Golbat or Chansey may be blocked from evolving even with high friendship.

Why Eevee Can’t Evolve into Umbreon or Espeon

Unlike some other Pokémon, Eevee in FireRed and LeafGreen cannot evolve into Umbreon or Espeon because these forms require a real-time clock to determine day or night, which these games do not have. Therefore, you cannot trigger these evolutions within these games.

In the original versions, players could evolve Eevee into Umbreon or Espeon by trading it to Ruby or Sapphire, which used real-time clocks, then trading back. Unfortunately, in the Switch versions, such options are unavailable because Pokémon Home only supports importing Pokémon in one direction from FireRed/LeafGreen—into the cloud, but not back into the games.

    Tyrogue’s Unique Evolution Conditions

Tyrogue, obtained through breeding Hitmonlee or Hitmonchan by putting them with Ditto at the Pokémon Day Care on Four Island, has an unusual evolution mechanic. Its evolution depends on its stats and the level:

    Pokémon Evolves Into Requirement
Tyrogue Hitmonlee At level 20: Attack > Defense
Tyrogue Hitmonchan At level 20: Defense > Attack
Tyrogue Hitmontop At level 20: Attack = Defense (must be exactly equal)

Achieving an evolution into Hitmontop requires carefully matching Attack and Defense stats at level 20, which can take some planning and luck depending on Tyrogue’s nature and growth.

To influence Tyrogue’s stats, consider using vitamins like Protein or Iron purchased at the Celadon City Department Store, which can help steer its development toward the desired evolution.

  • How To Find And Evolve Starly & Solve Its Puzzle In Pokémon Legends: Z-A

How To Find And Evolve Starly & Solve Its Puzzle In Pokémon Legends: Z-A

The Mega Dimension DLC for Pokémon Legends: Z-A introduces a new Hyperspace Dimension that resembles Lumiose City. This new world offers fresh Pokémon to find, including rare Rogue Mega Evolutions that you can challenge, defeat, and capture. To access these options and fill your Pokédex with the new creatures, you’ll need to progress further in the main story.

The reason for this is that you need to make special donuts using Hyper Space Berries, unique ingredients that, when combined, turn into a donut crafted by Ansha. If you’ve already completed the first Hyperspace Research task, you’ll be close to obtaining Staraptor.

    How to Find Staraptor
Once you activate the Mega Dimension DLC, continue with the main quests until you reach Hyperspace Lumiose Survey No. 2. You’ll need to enter several Hyperspace Holes to earn enough points to move past the initial mission; new portals will then appear around Lumiose City.

The Rogue Mega fight with Staraptor takes place at the Hyperspace Rogue Mega Arena located in Bleu Sector 6, just west of Bleu Plaza, also known as Wild Zone 16. The path to the arena’s rooftop is a little tricky to navigate.

Reaching the Rooftops with Staraptor’s Hyperspace Hole
To get there, fast-travel to Cafe Soleil. Head north along South Boulevard, then turn right onto the street immediately below Wild Zone 10. When you reach the first junction, look to your right: you’ll see a ladder leading up to the rooftops. Climb the scaffolding to reach the ladder and ascend to the roof.

The first ladder is hidden under the scaffolding in a small alcove created by the metal structure. Follow the rooftops heading north and climb the next ladder to meet Korrina and access the Hyperspace Hole. Make sure to bring your best donut, ideally with at least 20 extra levels added to your Pokémon, to stay prepared for the challenge.

How to Defeat the Rogue Mega Staraptor
Once you enter the portal, you’ll face a Rogue Mega Staraptor. This Pokémon is incredibly powerful, quick, and aggressive — keep attacking and moving constantly. After dealing some damage, Staraptor will start teleporting and kicking, attempting to attack directly. Be ready to dodge these powerful strikes, or they’ll knock you out.

Collect Mega Energy balls from the ground during the fight; maintaining high DPS is key to minimizing the risk of KO. After you defeat it, you’ll have the opportunity to catch Staraptor and will earn a Staraptite Mega Stone.

    Rewards for Catching Mega Staraptor
After capturing Staraptor, you’ll receive the Mega Energy necessary to Mega Evolve it. Also, break open the golden Poké Ball found after the fight using a Pokémon move — this will reward you with Hyper Berries like Pomeg, Kelpsy, Qualot, and Hondew. Additionally, you’ll obtain Great Butter, allowing you to enhance your donut recipes by increasing the number of berries you can add by one, making better donuts in the process.

Completing this fight and catching Staraptor seals the completion of Hyperspace Lumiose Survey No. 2, marking the end of that portion of the DLC.

  • How to Find and Evolve Clefairy in Pokémon Legends: Z-A: Completing & Solving

How to Find and Evolve Clefairy in Pokémon Legends: Z-A: Completing & Solving

Clefable is one of the most dependable Fairy-type Pokémon you can find in Pokémon Legends: Z-A. However, for most of the game, the only way to get its evolution, Clefable, is by evolving Clefairy using a special item called a Moon Stone. This item can only be obtained in a few locations within Lumiose City, so you’ll need to hunt for it.

As players learn when battling Jacinthe during the story, being able to Mega Evolve Clefable makes it an even more formidable fighter. But to Mega Evolve Clefable, you’ll also need the Clefablite Mega Stone, which has a specific unlock requirement. To add Clefable to your Pokédex and equip its Mega Stone, here are the key details.

    How to Get Clefable
Throughout most of the game, evolving Clefairy into Clefable is done by using a Moon Stone. Simply open your bag, select the Moon Stone, choose ‘Use,’ then pick a Clefairy in your party, and it will evolve immediately. The advantage of using evolution stones is that their use isn’t limited by your Pokémon’s level, so you can evolve Clefairy right after catching it.

    Where to Find Clefairy
The best place to find Clefairy or Cleffa for evolution is Wild Zone 19 at night, where they dance under a gazebo in groups. Many of these Pokémon might be Alpha, which are stronger and rarer, so keep refreshing the spawn by fast traveling back there if you don’t see one right away. From the entrance of Wild Zone 19, head left and uphill till you reach the gazebo.

You can also find Cleffa in Wild Zone 19 late in the game after completing Main Mission 30, ‘Reaching Rank B’. During the post-game, Clefable can be caught as an Alpha Pokémon in the same zone, specifically near Centrico Plaza Tower. This area has a spawn pool of over 50 Pokémon, making Alpha Clefables a rare find. Keep fast traveling to refresh spawns; one should eventually appear.

How to Evolve Clefairy into Clefable
Clefairy evolves into Clefable when its friendship level is high enough, similar to other games. Building friendship can be done by catching it in a Luxury Ball, keeping it in your party, and taking it to Lumiose City cafes. The more you care for it, the faster it will level up its friendship.

How to Get a Moon Stone
There are several locations to find Moon Stones, with the easiest being the northeast rooftop of Passage de la Felicite, a large shopping arcade in Lumiose City. To access the roof, head to the northeast corner of the mall (left of ‘Bleu Sector 6’ on the map), climb scaffolding, and gather two colored screws on your way up. The Moon Stone is then waiting as a red Poké Ball on the roof.

You can also find a Moon Stone in Lumiose Sewers during Mission 20, ‘A Request from the Rust Syndicate,’ at the top left of the sewer map. It’s not available at first but becomes accessible after you revisit the sewer for this mission.

Another location is west of Café Gallant, in the middle of Estival Avenue between Wild Zones 10 and 5. Climb the building’s roof near the chimney after taking the Holovator at the far bottom right.

Additionally, the Stone Emporium sells Moon Stones for 3,000 Poké Dollars after completing Main Mission 39, ‘The Infinite Z-A Royale.’ However, this store only stocks Moon Stones after that point, so earlier in the game, you’ll need to seek them elsewhere.

How to Catch Clefable in Wild Zone 20
Post-game, Clefable can be found as an Alpha spawn in Wild Zone 20, which unlocks after finishing Main Mission 38, ‘The Future of Lumiose City.’ Located under Centrico Plaza Tower, it’s a central spot, and one or two Alpha Clefables spawn here. These spawns are rare, with over 50 Pokémon in the pool, but by fast traveling repeatedly, an Alpha Clefable should eventually appear. Be prepared for a tough fight since Alphas are around level 60 and can cause chaos with other Pokémon attacking.

How to Get the Clefablite Mega Stone
To Mega Evolve Clefable, you’ll need the Clefablite Mega Stone, which is available for purchase at Quasartico’s Mega Shard Exchange for 240 Mega Shards. To access this, you must complete Main Mission 31, ‘A Summons from Vinnie,’ as the shop doesn’t stock it earlier. Once bought, give Clefable the Clefablite to hold, enabling its Mega Evolution to be part of your team.

  • Jurassic World Evolution 3: Complete Dinosaur and Solving Guide

Jurassic World Evolution 3: Complete Dinosaur Guide

This guide provides detailed information on all the dinosaurs you’ll encounter in Jurassic World Evolution 3. It covers their characteristics, behaviors, and key details to help you understand and manage these prehistoric creatures better.

    T-Rex

The Tyrannosaurus Rex is one of the most iconic dinosaurs in the game. Known for its impressive size and strength, it’s a fierce predator that requires ample space and proper care. T-Rex is best kept in large, secure enclosures with plenty of hiding spots to reduce stress. Focus on feeding them well and monitoring their health regularly.

    Velociraptor

Velociraptors are smaller but highly intelligent predators. They are fast, agile, and social animals, often hunted in packs. To keep them happy, provide an environment with lots of vegetation and space to roam. They can be tricky to manage, so a good strategy includes frequent health checks and a balanced diet.

    Spinosaurus

Spinosaurus is a massive aquatic dinosaur with a distinctive sail on its back. It prefers water-rich habitats, so your enclosures should include lakes or rivers. Spinosaurus is a powerful predator that needs a large territory and a diet rich in fish. When managing it, ensure the water areas are deep enough for it to swim comfortably.

    Ankylosaurus

Ankylosaurus is a heavily armored herbivore. It has a tough shell that protects it from predators. They thrive in environments with lots of vegetation and plenty of space to wander. Because it’s a herbivore, feeding needs to be regular and plentiful. Make sure to monitor their health and provide appropriate space to prevent stress.

    Dilophosaurus

Dilophosaurus is a medium-sized carnivore known for its frill and venom-spitting ability. They are social animals and prefer enclosures with trees and rocks for hiding. Maintain their health by providing a varied diet and ensuring their habitat is secure to prevent escapes.

    Green Dinosaur (Generic Herbivore)

This generic herbivore, similar to other plant-eating dinosaurs, prefers lush environments filled with trees and shrubs. They require regular feeding and space for grazing. Keeping their environment clean and providing enough food helps maintain their health and happiness.

    Carnivore Dinosaurs

Many other dinosaurs fall into the carnivore category, including smaller species like Troodon or larger predators like Giganotosaurus. These animals are generally more aggressive and require secure enclosures with barriers strong enough to contain them. Regular health management and environmental enrichment are essential for their well-being.

This guide offers a snapshot of the dinosaurs you’ll care for in Jurassic World Evolution 3. Proper management, habitat design, and diet are key to keeping these creatures healthy and thriving.

  • How to Make Money in Jurassic World Evolution 3 by Completing and Solving

How to Make Money in Jurassic World Evolution 3 by Completing and Solving

In Jurassic World Evolution 3, your parks need steady income to stay afloat. Upgrades, research, and hiring staff all cost a lot, and emergencies are inevitable, adding to expenses.

Running a successful park means earning enough from multiple sources to keep expanding. While earning hundreds of thousands of dollars per minute sounds impressive, a Jurassic World research park actually needs millions each year to fund scientists, develop new dinosaurs, create suitable habitats, and operate safely.

How To Make Money In Jurassic World Evolution 3

Making a profit is crucial if you want to grow your park and add more exhibits. Tourists pay to see dinosaurs up close and from a safe distance, which helps generate income. Keeping your visitors and dinosaurs happy ensures your park runs smoothly and makes money.

To monitor your finances, open the Management menu and go to the Finances section. Here, you’ll see details on your income and expenses, allowing you to track where your money is going and which activities are most profitable.

If your spending gets out of control, you risk going bankrupt. In that case, you’ll need to make quick money—this might involve firing staff with high wages to cut costs.

    Make Money From Guests

Guests love food, drinks, and entertainment. Placing amenities along pathways between exhibits encourages visitors to spend more money. Depending on your budget and park size, you can build various types of amenities:

    • Hotels
    • Restrooms
    • Shops
    • Food stalls
    • Drink stations

Small, medium, and large versions of amenities are available. Initially, your park can only host small amenities until you research larger ones. To maximize revenue, select products and features suited to your crowd. Different parks attract different visitors, such as:

    • General visitors (white icon)
    • Adventure seekers (orange flame icon)
    • Nature lovers (green planet icon)
    • Luxury guests (yellow crown icon)

Matching amenities to guest preferences and balancing their levels will keep visitors happy, leading to more spending. Increasing the variety of dinosaurs and entertainment also helps attract more guests.

Guests prefer seeing dinosaurs bred naturally, especially juveniles, as they are adorable even if they’re dangerous. Providing good enclosures with nests and high comfort ensures visitors enjoy their experience. Create interesting viewing points and guided tours to motivate guests to explore.

    Sell All Minerals

Minerals collected during expeditions can be sold for quick cash, often covering the cost of the expedition itself. Sent scientists on regular trips to gather fossils and minerals—they can return with valuable items like fossils or rare minerals, which can be sold for $40,000 to $400,000 each.

Here are some minerals you might find during expeditions:

    Mineral Value
    Chordate Fossils $40,000
    Conifer Fossils $40,000
    Fern Fossils $40,000
    Turtle Fossils $40,000
    Ammonite Fossils $90,000
    Snake Fossils $90,000
    Osmium $110,000
    Amphibian Fossil $130,000
    Bird Eggs $130,000
    Aquatic Plant Fossils $230,000
    Gold $230,000
    Dinosaur Eggs $390,000

Regular expeditions are highly profitable and help boost your cash flow.

    Demolish Or Deactivate Buildings

If a building isn’t generating enough income, consumes too much power, or costs too much to operate, you can choose to demolish it for a refund or deactivate it temporarily. Demolishing removes the building permanently and returns some money, while deactivating turns it off without returning funds—useful if you’re reconfiguring your layout.

Keep an eye on every entertainment and amenity building to ensure they cost less than they earn. Temporary deactivation is handy during restructuring, and demolition offers a quick cash boost for permanent removal.

    Complete Contracts Constantly

Contracts provide additional income and can enhance your park’s reputation. Check the Control Room or click on the income indicator for new contracts. You can only handle one at a time, and you need to stay on-site until the task finishes—the moment you leave, the contract is canceled.

Completing contracts quickly earns bonus rewards. Choose contracts you can finish easily or fast to get the bonus and pick a new one right after. If no suitable contracts are available, wait for the list to refresh naturally instead of paying to force a new set.

    Take The Perfect Picture

Your park staff carry cameras for cataloging and research. To earn extra money, take control of a vehicle, drive into exhibits, and use the camera (press F) to photograph dinosaurs. Better photos—featuring multiple species, different ages, unique behaviors, and good composition—fetch higher prices.

Avoid taking identical photos of the same dinosaurs; instead, aim for variety. Look out for behaviors like resting, sleeping, panicking, running, socializing, juvenile activity, drinking, eating, hunting, flying, and swimming. Capturing a mix of species and behaviors like running or sleeping, especially with juveniles, makes your photos more interesting and profitable.

Drive around and position yourself well to snap the perfect shot, maximizing your earnings with each photograph.

  • How to Complete Expeditions and Solve Challenges in Jurassic World Evolution 3

How to Complete Expeditions and Solve Challenges in Jurassic World Evolution 3

Without excavations at various sites worldwide, dinosaurs and reptiles wouldn’t be part of Jurassic World. The fossils retrieved by your scientists in Jurassic World Evolution 3 are crucial for studying genetic data needed to create new creatures.

As you develop each park, your teams will gain more knowledge and discover additional excavation sites filled with fossils to analyze and valuable materials to sell. Here’s everything you need to know about organizing expeditions and handling fossils in Jurassic World Evolution 3.

How to Organize Expeditions in Jurassic World Evolution 3

In Jurassic World Evolution 3, expeditions are managed through the Expedition Center. This structure costs $75,000 and needs two units of power. Place it close to a Backup Generator or a Substation connected to a Power Station. To ensure everything runs smoothly, your park should also have a Maintenance Facility and a Maintenance Post near the Expedition Center and Power Plant, with a Maintenance Team assigned.

Once powered, hire scientists and set up a lab where they can extract DNA from fossils collected during digs. To hire staff, build a Staff Center costing $45,000. This facility trains your scientists, boosting their skills to research rare dinosaurs more efficiently, reducing the number of scientists needed per project.

Additionally, you’ll need a Science Center for analyzing fossils once your team returns from expeditions and for selling extra minerals found. Extracting genomes requires a scientist or two with specific Genetics skill points.

Expeditions are launched from the Expedition Center or via the Expedition Map in the Control Room. Early on, you’ll have limited dig sites, but more will unlock as you progress. Hover over map markers to see what fossils are available, the cost of the expedition, and the skill requirements for success.

When a dig site is fully explored—meaning you’ve collected 100% of its genomes—the marker turns green, and you can no longer revisit that site.

You can enhance expeditions by adding upgrades to the Expedition Center, such as faster results, storm defenses, or extra scientists. These upgrades cost money but can make your expeditions quicker or more affordable over time.

How to Unlock All Dig Sites

More excavation sites become available as you complete objectives across your parks worldwide. Initially, you have access to a few sites, but more open up, allowing you to retrieve genomes of various reptiles and dinosaurs.

  • How to Completing and Solving Dinosaur Movements in Jurassic World Evolution

How to Completing and Solving Dinosaur Movements in Jurassic World Evolution

When your dinosaurs cause chaos or you need to transfer one from one enclosure to another, moving animals in Jurassic World Evolution 3 becomes very important.

At the start of the game, you’ll learn how to tranquilize and move dinosaurs and reptiles. However, it’s easy to forget this information over time. Eventually, a few stegosauruses might break their fences, and you’ll need to stop them. Here’s everything you need to know about transporting dinosaurs in Jurassic World Evolution 3.

How to Find and Tranquilize Escaped Dinosaurs

There are several reasons you might need to tranquilize and move dinosaurs or reptiles:

    • Unhappy or uncomfortable dinosaurs may try to break fences and escape, putting park guests at risk.
    • Sick dinosaurs need to be safely transported to the Paleo-Medical Facility.
    • Aggressive or unwanted dinosaurs may need to be released into the wild if they cannot coexist with others.

If fences break, guests and staff are in danger. It’s your job to keep everyone safe and get the animals back into their enclosures. Quick responses can mean the difference between a high park rating and distressed guests running for safety.

Every park needs a Response Facility—it’s best to build one immediately. The Response Facility costs $100,000 and requires two power units to operate properly. To keep it running smoothly, build a Power Station nearby, connect it with Substations, and add a backup generator in case of power outages.

The Response Facility provides Rangers to patrol enclosures and check on dinosaur health, and a Capture Team to tranquilize animals for transportation. You can control these vehicles manually or send them on patrol through security cameras and ranger posts.

How to Set Up Security and Capture Operations

Place Security Cameras around the park with a wide view of enclosures. Assign a Capture Team to each camera by clicking on it, so they can quickly spot and tranquilize dinosaurs without your help. This setup is crucial for quick response when dinosaurs escape or become sick.

For larger parks, it’s recommended to build multiple Response Facilities to cover the entire area effectively with Capture and Ranger teams.

Each enclosure should have a Ranger Post nearby, with its patrol radius covering most of the area. Assign Ranger teams to these posts to monitor dinosaur health, refill feeders, and respond quickly to emergencies. These posts can also have Capture Teams and Mobile Vet Units ready for immediate action.

If an escaped dinosaur isn’t covered by a security camera or Ranger Post, you’ll need to manually send out a Capture Team. To do this, find the Response Facility, select the helicopter at the helipad, click Add Task, and choose the dinosaur. It’s easiest when the game is paused.

The helicopter will fly to the animal, tranquilize it with a dart, and leave it sleeping on the ground, ready for transport.

How to Transport a Tranquilized Dinosaur

When a dinosaur or reptile has been tranquilized, you can move it back to its enclosure, to the Paleo-Medical Facility if it’s sick or injured, or reintroduce it into the wild. Use the Transport button located below the scenery, path, and power options on the left side of the screen. Select Transport, click on the tranquilized animal, and choose what’s needed.

Rewilding is a good option for those dinosaurs that can’t stay in captivity because they often break out due to aggressive behavior.

If the Ranger Team finds an animal is sick or injured, they need to scan it to determine what’s wrong. After diagnosis, send it to the medical facility for treatment. If the animal escaped because of a power outage or stress, you can transport it back to its enclosure and work on improving the environment to prevent future escapes.

  • All Mega Evolution Pokémon and How to Complete Them in Pokémon Legends: Z-A

All Mega Evolution Pokémon and How to Complete Them in Pokémon Legends: Z-A

Mega Evolution is a key feature in Pokémon Legends: Z-A. While new players will be eager to try this mechanic, longtime fans will be interested in all the new forms introduced. However, the rules for Mega Evolution have changed from previous games.

Getting a handle on Mega Evolution in this game is essential for progressing smoothly. In the past, Mega Evolution allowed you to overpower opponents easily, but now there are more limits, such as time restrictions and costs. As with many aspects of Lumiose City, success depends on balancing resources and timing.

    What Is Mega Evolution?

Mega Evolution is a mechanic that temporarily boosts a Pokémon’s stats and overall strength by evolving it beyond its usual form. It’s a short-term change that lasts during a battle, after which the Pokémon reverts to its normal, fully evolved form.

For most Pokémon, Mega Evolution increases their stats by around 100 points. Some Pokémon, like Ampharos and Altaria, may also change their type when Mega Evolving.

Note: Pokémon that can Mega Evolve in one or two stages generally have higher total stats compared to others because their Mega forms were originally designed around abilities (which are absent in Legends: Z-A). To keep balance, these Pokémon often receive extra stat bonuses.

    How Mega Evolution Works

Mega Evolutions are triggered by using Mega Stones (also called Keystones). These special items are stored in your inventory and can be held by Pokémon matching their type.

You can acquire Mega Stones through three main methods:

    1. Completing story missions.
    2. Trading Mega Shards at Quasartico Inc.
    3. Purchasing them with in-game currency at Stone Emporium.

A complete list of Mega Stones and how to get them can be found in the official guide.

    How To Use Mega Evolution

You gain access to Mega Evolution after progressing enough in the game. Specifically, you need to reach Rank V and start Main Mission 09: “Chase that Mysterious Pokémon!” At this point, you’ll face Mega Absol and earn your first Mega Stone and Mega Bracelet, which are needed to Mega Evolve Pokémon.

To Mega Evolve a Pokémon, two conditions must be met:

    1. The Pokémon must be fully evolved for its line.
    2. The corresponding Mega Stone must be equipped to that Pokémon.

During battle, you will see a meter in the bottom right corner of the screen that indicates your ability to Mega Evolve.

While Mega Evolution used to last an entire battle, in this game it’s governed by a timer. Your Mega Meter drains while in Mega form and refills when you Return to normal. You can Mega Evolve multiple times within a battle by attacking opponents or collecting Mega Power from the ground when fighting Rogue Mega Evolved Pokémon.

Note: Rogue Mega Evolved Pokémon are boss-type enemies in the main story. When defeated, they shed large chunks of Mega Power, which you can pick up to refill your meter. Stunning these bosses can lead to even larger Mega Power pickups.

    What Are Plus Moves?

Plus Moves are powerful moves that deal extra damage or effects but cost Mega Power from your Mega Meter. Only moves that a Pokémon has mastered (indicated by a G+ symbol) qualify as Plus Moves.

Moves learned naturally through leveling become mastered once your Pokémon reaches sufficient levels. TM-taught moves can be mastered by giving a Seed of Mastery to Josée from the Fist of Justice team.

    Pokémon That Can Mega Evolve

There are 65 Pokémon that can Mega Evolve in Legends: Z-A. Many are returning from the sixth generation games, with some new additions introduced in the ninth generation. Pokémon that are new to this list are highlighted in green.

Below is a sample of some Mega Evolving Pokémon and their types:

    Mega Evolution Type
    Abomasnow Ice/Grass
    Absol Dark/Flying
    Aggron Steel
    Alakazam Psychic
    Altaria Dragon/Fairy
    Ampharos Electric/Dragon
    Beedrill Bug/Poison
    Blastoise Water
    Camerupt Fire/Ground
    Chandelure Ghost/Fire
    Charizard X Fire/Dragon
    Charizard Y Fire/Flying
    Chesnaught Grass/Fighting
    Clefable Fairy/Flying
    Delphox Fire/Psychic
    Dragalge Dragon/Poison
    Dragonite Dragon/Flying
    Emboar Fire/Fighting
    Excadrill Ground/Steel
    Garchomp Dragon/Ground

And many more. A complete list is available in the official guide, with newly introduced Mega Pokémon highlighted in green.

    How to Trigger Mega Evolution

Mega Evolution becomes available after reaching a significant point in the game, specifically after early progress and reaching Rank V. You also need to start Main Mission 09, “Chase that Mysterious Pokémon!”, where you’ll face Mega Absol and receive your first Mega Stone and Mega Bracelet.

To Mega Evolve a Pokémon in battle:

    • The Pokémon must be its fully evolved form.
    • The correct Mega Stone must be equipped.
    • You need to have sufficient Mega Power, indicated by the meter.

In battle, you can Mega Evolve more than once by attacking or gathering Mega Power from the environment. The Mega Meter drains over time when in Mega form and replenishes when you revert.

    Gaining Mega Power involves:

    • Successfully attacking opponents (without Mega Evolving).
    • Picking up Mega Power shards dropped by Rogue Mega Pokémon during fights; stunning these enemies results in larger shards, which can refill your meter more significantly.

This system emphasizes timing and resource management during battles, contrasting with the straightforward Mega Evolution from earlier generations.

Recent research suggests that Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASDs) may stem from the incredible complexity of our brains. Scientists note that behaviors associated with ASD are seldom seen in primates other than humans and are linked to advanced thinking skills like speech and language—traits rarely observed in our closest relatives.

Advances in gene sequencing have uncovered parts of our DNA that remain stable in most mammals but have undergone rapid change in humans. Specifically, neurons in the brain’s outer layer, called L2/3 IT neurons, evolved quickly compared to primates, coinciding with significant changes in genes associated with autism.

While these findings indicate that evolution may have favored autism-related genes, it’s unclear what specific advantage they confer. Some of these genes are involved in delaying brain development, which might have allowed for longer periods of learning and language acquisition. This extended development could have played a role in human evolution by fostering more complex thought processes.

Essentially, the same evolutionary adaptations that increased brain complexity also increased neurodiversity. Recognizing this makes the idea that vaccines cause autism seem even more unfounded—it’s simply a natural outcome of our evolutionary path.

How old is your brain in years?

You’ve probably come across books, videos, tabloid stories, or even games that try to estimate your “brain age” using dubious methods. Reliable measurement of brain age has eluded scientists for years—until recently. Now, researchers have started quantifying how “healthy” brains age over time.

In 2022, a study published in the journal Nature analyzed over 100,000 brain scans across different age groups. The findings showed that brain regions tend to shrink as we age, especially areas linked to neurological diseases like Alzheimer’s, schizophrenia, depression, and anxiety. But aging doesn’t automatically mean your brain is older than your chronological age. Sometimes, a younger person can have an “older” brain, reflecting premature aging.

Factors like genetics, chronic stress, and inflammation can cause the brain to age prematurely. It’s important to note that a single scan is just a snapshot—it’s more like a thermometer that gives an overall idea of brain health rather than a comprehensive diagnosis.

So, what’s the secret to a healthy brain? There isn’t a magic cure, but lifestyle choices matter. Eating a balanced diet, getting enough sleep, exercising regularly, staying socially active, and avoiding smoking all contribute. Staying in school or continually learning also helps keep your mind sharp. Yes, it sounds like advice from your mom, but the truth is, good habits really do support brain health.

    Advantages

    • Outstanding vacuuming performance
    • Removable mopping attachment
    • Self-cleaning charging station
    • Sleek and compact design
    • Highly customizable settings

    Disadvantages

    • Premium price point
    • Detection of cables and cords could be improved

The Roborock Saros 10 represents a significant advancement in robotic vacuum technology, showcasing powerful suction, tangle-free brushes, and a self-cleaning dock. Its range of customization options makes it a top contender in the market. Although it carries a premium price tag, it’s an excellent investment for those wanting one of the best robot vacuum and mop combinations available.

Roborock introduced both the Saros 10 and Saros 10R around the same time, and while they share many features, our detailed comparison revealed that they are equally effective in most situations. However, the Saros 10 utilizes an older navigation technology that may resonate with long-time Roborock users.

Paired with 22,000 Pa of suction power, a high-end dock, a sleek new design, and a detachable mopping mechanism, the Saros 10 stands as one of the premier robot vacuum and mop units available. It proves to be an outstanding addition to any modern smart home.

    A Versatile Robot Vacuum

    Jon Bitner / Digital Trends

Robotic vacuums in the $1,000-plus range are designed for high autonomy, and the $1,600 Saros 10 takes this to the next level, capable of operating for weeks with minimal intervention. After a quick setup and mapping process, users can schedule automated cleaning routines, like having it run daily while you’re at work, so you return to clean floors. The AI onboard effectively fine-tunes its cleaning approach according to your home’s specific needs, but it also allows extensive customization for those wanting to adjust settings such as suction power and mopping intensity.

In terms of cleaning capability, the Saros 10 outperforms most robot vacuums, with an impressive suction of 22,000 Pa—outpacing many competitors, including its counterpart, the Saros 10R. It features a tangle-free brush design that prevents hair from clogging its essential mechanisms, supported by a side brush for reaching difficult areas.

Mopping is equally impressive, featuring the VibraRise 4.0 Mopping System that excels at scrubbing tough stains. The mop automatically detaches when not needed, allowing the Saros 10 to clean carpets without dragging along the wet mop, and reattach when it’s time to clean hard floors.

This clever design is particularly appealing for homeowners with carpeting.

Upon completing a cleaning cycle, the robot returns to its docking station, where it automatically empties its dustbin into a larger holding container, cleans its mopping plate with heated water, and uses warm air to dry it. The dock itself also gets cleaned, ensuring that any debris that might have fallen off the robot is washed into the dirty water container.

For smaller homes and apartments, the Saros 10 usually only requires attention once a week due to its larger water tanks and a dust bag that lasts several weeks. In larger spaces, more frequent checks may be needed, but overall, this robot vacuum handles its tasks with minimal oversight.

    Reliable Navigation

    Saros 10 docked
    Roborock

While the Saros 10R utilizes the advanced navigation system found in the forthcoming Saros Z70, the Saros 10 relies on an updated version of Roborock’s established Reactive AI system. This tried-and-true technology has consistently performed well over the years, as evidenced by its efficiency during our testing.

The Saros 10 successfully mapped my space and managed to navigate around obstacles, including my two lively dogs. However, like many robotic vacuums, it occasionally struggled to detect cords and cables—once rolling over a charging cable I deliberately left out for testing purposes.

Fortunately, this was one of the few difficulties encountered. The Saros 10 seldom got stuck and efficiently accessed a majority of the tight spaces in my home.

    Differences with the Saros 10R

The Roborock Saros 10R near a plant
    Jon Bitner / Digital Trends

The Saros 10 shares many similarities with the Saros 10R, including high-end docking stations and automatic mopping pad removal. Both models employ AI to optimize cleaning settings. However, key differences exist between them.

As previously mentioned, the Saros 10 features an older navigation system compared to the cutting-edge StarSight Autonomous System 2.0 in the 10R. While the newer system hasn’t been proven over as long a period, it has shown to provide comparable, if not superior, performance during testing.

In terms of suction capacity, the Saros 10 offers more at 22,000 Pa compared to the 20,000 Pa of the 10R. Both vacuums are more than adequate for regular cleaning, but the extra 2,000 Pa of the Saros 10 may be advantageous for tougher jobs.

The mopping mechanics are also distinct, with the Saros 10 utilizing a large vibrating mop plate, whereas the Saros 10R employs dual spinning mopping pads. Personally, I prefer the two spinning pads for daily maintenance, but the vibrating plate on the Saros 10 is excellent for tackling stubborn stains or heavily soiled areas. Both devices perform exceptionally well, though some newer models like the Ecovacs Deebot X8 Pro Omni have outperformed both in hard floor cleaning, albeit without the ability to detach their mop, making them less effective for carpet cleaning.

In reality, choosing between the two Roborock models is tough, as both offer advanced technology and thoughtful design that effectively manages all types of flooring.

    Final Thoughts

The Roborock Saros 10 ranks among the best robotic vacuums available today. It features a dependable navigation system, substantial suction, and a sleek design that easily fits beneath furniture, making it ideal for a variety of homes. While its price point may be high, and the availability of the Saros 10R may complicate decision-making, the Saros 10 is likely to exceed the expectations of even the most selective consumers.
