Ed Sheeran Serenades ‘Azizam’ From Delhi’s Historic Rooftops
Mumbai: Beginning his India tour at the start of the year, Ed Sheeran enchanted the audience in Old Delhi with a spectacular performance of his new song “Azizam,” all while perched on a sunlit rooftop.
Against the backdrop of the city’s lively skyline, the warmth of a winter afternoon, and kites dancing in the air, Ed delivered an emotive live show. Using his signature loop pedal, he seamlessly blended guitar, piano, and vocals, captivating everyone present.
The song is featured on his upcoming album titled “Play,” which will also include a thrilling collaboration with renowned Indian artist Arijit Singh.
“I enjoyed working on Azizam with the loop pedal. It required me to think creatively, like putting together a jigsaw puzzle,” Ed remarked.
This rooftop show transcended mere entertainment; it served as a heartfelt homage to India, celebrating its culture and the bonds formed through music.
With the official music video for “Azizam” scheduled to release on Thursday, Ed has been actively sharing behind-the-scenes glimpses on his Instagram.
In one post, he reflected on the creative process, stating: “1. Learning the Persian snap, culminating in crowd surfing at the end. 2. @ilya_music guiding me on the correct pronunciation for the Persian version. 3. A moment with the incredible @saman_kesh, the video director, who immersed me in the world of Persian weddings. 4. A discussion with @saman_kesh and @ilya_music on how the video’s concept came together. 5. Funny moment in a giant bowl of Tahdig. 6. A taste test of every Persian dish at the wedding. 7. Recording a quick acoustic video in the party room. 8. My body double, who was rather quiet. 9. Some clapperboard action. 10. The beginning of the video, landing in a wedding scene and feeling a bit lost. 11. Saman preparing for the shots. 12. Growing up attending Irish weddings, this experience in a Persian wedding was unique, yet both cultures radiate joy in celebration. 13. That’s a wrap! The video is out Thursday, with a remix dropping Friday—I can’t wait!”
