Shakib’s Home Targeted After Joining Hasina Event

Windows at former Bangladesh cricket captain Shakib Al Hasan’s home were broken, and petrol bombs were thrown after he participated in the first public media event by ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina since her removal from power in 2024. During the incident, flames erupted on the upper floor of the residence, which was empty at the time; no injuries were reported. Authorities confirmed that a group attacked Shakib’s ancestral house in Magura, located about 105 miles southwest of Dhaka. Reuters was unable to reach Shakib for comment regarding the attack.

The assault occurred shortly after Shakib, a former Parliament member from the Awami League, took part in a virtual event hosted by the Foreign Correspondents’ Club of South Asia in New Delhi. In her audio message, Hasina reiterated her intention to return to Bangladesh in December, despite being sentenced to death there.

Shakib, elected to parliament as an Awami League candidate in January 2024, has remained outside Bangladesh since the student-led protests that overthrew Hasina’s government. He is under multiple investigations, including charges related to murder, embezzlement, fraud, and money laundering.

“I will return to my people,” Hasina stated. “I understand they might imprison or even execute me, but I have to go back.”

This event, marking the second anniversary of her ousting, was Hasina’s first public appearance since she fled Bangladesh in 2024. She also expressed her belief that the ban on the Awami League — the party she led for over 40 years — should be lifted, as it had been barred from political activity following her removal.

Bangladesh’s foreign ministry condemned Hasina’s media appearance, calling it “an affront to the sovereignty of Bangladesh” and warning that allowing her to speak from India could damage bilateral relations.

Now residing in New Delhi since August 2024, Bangladesh has requested her extradition from India, which is currently reviewing the request through its legal channels. In November 2025, her war crimes tribunal sentenced her to death in absentia over the crackdown on the 2024 student protests, a charge she dismisses as politically motivated.

  • Yusuf Pathan Sparks BJP Backlash Over Adina Mosque Photo

Yusuf Pathan Sparks BJP Backlash Over Adina Mosque Photo

Indian cricketer-turned-politician Yusuf Pathan caused a stir within the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) after sharing photos of himself standing in front of Adina Mosque in Malda, West Bengal, on Friday.

In a post on X, Pathan—who now represents the Trinamool Congress—mentioned that the mosque was erected in the 14th century by Sultan Sikandar Shah, the second ruler of the Ilyas Shahi dynasty.

He emphasized the mosque’s historical importance, highlighting its display of the region’s architectural splendor.

The BJP West Bengal party, however, turned this simple photo into a controversy by alleging, without definitive evidence, that the mosque was built atop the remains of a Hindu temple.

For years, BJP leaders have claimed that the mosque was constructed after destroying the Adinath Temple. In 2022, a leader suggested the temple was buried beneath the mosque’s foundations.

Two years later, a Hindu devotee attempted to perform religious rituals inside the mosque but was stopped, and a case was filed against him. A lawyer also petitioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Interior Minister Amit Shah, urging them to permit Hindu worshippers to carry out rituals within the mosque.

Pathan’s post has reignited the ongoing debate about the BJP’s assertions that many mosques are built on former Hindu temple sites.

Pathan serves as a Member of Parliament in the Lok Sabha representing West Bengal for the Trinamool Congress. Prior to his political career, he was part of the Indian cricket team that secured the T20 World Cup in 2007 and the ODI World Cup in 2011. His younger brother, Irfan Pathan, is also a well-known figure in Indian cricket.

  • Trade In Your Old Phone For Bill Credit With Cricket

Trade In Your Old Phone For Bill Credit With Cricket

Many people have a collection of old smartphones stashed away in drawers, which they no longer use. Cricket Wireless has introduced an enticing solution, offering users credit for trading in these devices. Their new Device Trade-In Program, which launched on April 4, distinguishes itself from similar initiatives by crediting amounts directly to users’ accounts rather than providing gift cards or discounts on new phones.

This program comes in response to similar offerings from other major carriers like Verizon and AT&T. However, many of those competing programs require you to buy a new phone or activate a new line. In contrast, Cricket’s initiative allows you to subtract some of the trade-in value from your monthly service bill, though it cannot be applied towards accessories or new devices, nor can it be transferred to another account.

The value of your trade-in is determined by multiple factors, including the age and model of the phone, its previous carrier, storage capacity, and whether the device powers on and stays functional without being plugged in. For instance, a working 64GB iPhone 11 from Verizon with a cracked screen is estimated to be worth around $38, while the value increases to approximately $68 if there’s no crack in the display.

If you’d like to gauge the potential value of your device without needing to visit a store, you can head over to Asurion’s Trade-In portal for an estimate. After obtaining your estimate, simply enter your mailing address and Cricket phone number, and you’re set. Be sure to reset your device before sending it in. If you lack suitable packaging, Asurion can provide that for you, including the necessary postage.

“We designed this program with our customers in mind. Rather than a gift card system, this initiative allows Cricket users to directly reduce their service fees effortlessly,” explains Shailendra Gujarati, Chief Marketing Officer. “Ultimately, everyone is looking to save money, and that’s exactly what we are facilitating for our customers.”

  • PAK vs IND T20 World Cup 2022 Live Streaming (Where To Watch)

PAK vs. IND T20 World Cup 2022: On Sunday, India and Pakistan kick off their 2022 T20 World Cup campaign at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground, resuming arguably cricket’s most intense rivalry. Despite their years as the dominant force in T20, India will surely lift their game in this crucial match against their old foes and one of the tournament favorites. Here’s how you can watch India vs Pakistan from anywhere during the T20 World Cup.

Rohit Sharma’s men were knocked out of the group stage in 2021, so they’re determined to improve on that. The loss of Jasprit Bumrah due to a back stress fracture is a big blow to India’s chances since the star pace bowler would have thrived on the flat tracks in Australia.

Despite Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan’s explosive top order, Pakistan’s bowling attack has some doubts going into this tournament.

Against Pakistan, India has won 8 of their previous 11 T20 matches, and Pakistan has won 3. Both sides won their two encounters at the 2022 Asia Cup in the summer.
