How To Make Bread in Romestead: Completing & Solving Techniques

Ensuring your citizens have enough food is one of Romestead’s biggest early challenges. Hunger affects both productivity and morale, so setting up a steady food supply should be a top priority right from the start of your settlement.

Luckily, you don’t need complex systems to keep everyone fed. With the right strategy, even small settlements can manage food without constant oversight. In this guide, we’ll highlight the best early food sources, explain how to develop a bread supply chain that grows with your population, and point out a citizen trait you’ll want to avoid at all costs.

    ### Best Early Food Sources

In the early game, the easiest food sources are hunting game and finding apple trees. Both are available immediately and don’t require building any structures. They are your first defense against hunger as you get your settlement up and running.

Remember, you need to cook game before eating—it’s not edible raw.
A key caution: not all fruit is worth stocking. For example, olives and blackberries provide zero food value, but your citizens will eat them regardless. These fruits disappear from your storage but don’t help reduce hunger, so it’s better to save them for recipes that require them.

    ### How To Make Bread

After completing the “Fruits of the Harvest” quest, which involves offering a lot of fruit and cabbages at the altar, you unlock the Bakery. Bread becomes a highly scalable food source, easy to produce in large quantities, making it a practical way to keep your citizens fed over time.

Before you start baking, you need to set up the full production chain:

    1. Harvest wheat from your farms.
    2. Grind the wheat into flour using a Manual Mill.
    3. Bake the flour into bread at either a campfire or the bakery.

The campfire option becomes available earlier but needs more wheat to produce the same amount of bread, making it less efficient. The bakery, while slower and limited to ten loaves at a time, is the better long-term choice. Keep an eye on your stockpile and fill the queue before it runs out to avoid shortages.

    ### Important Citizen Trait to Watch Out For

Be aware of citizens with the “Gluttonous” trait. These individuals require ten extra units of food to feel satisfied, which puts a heavy strain on your supplies, especially early on when resources are tight. Before accepting a gluttonous citizen, think carefully—one can destabilize your entire food system and cause shortages.

  • How to Make Olive Oil in Romestead: Completing and Solving Secrets

How to Make Olive Oil in Romestead: Completing and Solving Secrets

Olives are abundant in Romestead, but what should you do with them? They don’t produce a lot of food, and donating olives to Ceres isn’t very effective for leveling her up because the reward isn’t worth the time. Instead, it’s better to turn your olives into olive oil, which can be sold to traders for a good profit.

The process to make olive oil is somewhat complicated. First, you need to unlock the dolium through quests for the gods. Then, collect olives, crush them into paste, craft empty pots at the pottery workshop, and continue through additional steps. Here’s how it all works.

    ### Where to Find Olives
Olives are everywhere in Romestead. You can find them on olive trees growing throughout the plains biome. These trees regrow quickly, making it easy to gather olives regularly.

Early in the game, you can use the olives you gather to help level up Ceres, who accepts olives as donations. If you cut down an olive tree, you’ll get an olive seed that allows you to plant your own olive groves around your town.

    ### How to Make Olive Oil
To make olive oil, you first need to turn olives into olive paste. Use a manual mill to crush the olives—you have to manually run into the spokes to turn it. On its own, olive paste doesn’t have much use.

You can build the manual mill at the workbench, and it requires four stones to craft. Once you have it, you can grind your olives into paste.

    ### Pottery
You’ll also need small pots, which are made at the pottery workshop. To unlock this workshop, complete the Sanguis Celeste quest for Vulcan by exploring a dungeon marked on your map to find the Crystallized Blood and offering it on the altar. After unlocking the workshop, you can build it using lumber, stone, pottery, and a citizen to work there. Inside, you can turn clay into small pots.

A tip: be sure to light the kiln outside using lumber so that it can properly heat the pots.

    ### Olive Oil Dolium
Once you have olive paste and small pots, your next step is to craft the olive oil dolium. This is a special container for storing the oil. Build it in your town and then combine the olive paste and small pots inside over time. The process will gradually turn into olive oil.

When it’s ready, you can sell the olive oil at the trader for 50 quadrans. This is a good way to earn some extra money to buy resources.

  • Scientists Discover Method to Reduce Fat in French Fries

Scientists Discover Method to Reduce Fat in French Fries

French fries are among the most beloved foods worldwide, cherished for their crispy exterior and tender inside. Yet, they often contain a high amount of fat because they soak up oil during frying. Excessive consumption of fried foods has been associated with health issues like obesity and hypertension, prompting researchers to seek healthier alternatives.

A recent study from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign proposes a potential solution. The scientists discovered a method to minimize oil uptake during frying while maintaining the fries’ flavor and texture. The technique involves combining traditional frying with microwave heating.

Understanding why this approach works requires a look at what happens during frying. When potatoes hit hot oil, the water inside them starts to evaporate. As the water escapes, tiny voids form within the potato. Oil then fills these spaces, which explains why fried foods are typically high in fat.

Led by Professor Pawan Singh Takhar, the research team aimed to reduce this oil absorption. They explored using microwaves, which heat food differently than conventional methods. Unlike traditional frying that heats from the outside inward, microwaves penetrate the food, heating it from the inside out. This creates internal pressure, which can help push oil away and reduce how much is absorbed.

Their experiments revealed several advantages of incorporating microwave heating during frying. The outcome was fries with less oil content, faster cooking times, and quicker moisture loss—all promising for creating a lower-calorie snack while maintaining efficiency.

However, the researchers found that microwaves alone weren’t sufficient. Fries cooked exclusively with microwaves tended to be soggy and lacked the crispy texture that consumers love. This underscored the importance of traditional frying for achieving the perfect crunch.

To address this, they combined both techniques. The traditional frying process created a crispy outer shell, while microwave heating minimized internal oil absorption. This synergy resulted in fries that are both crispy and healthier.

Implementing this method could offer notable health advantages. Since fried foods are widely consumed, even a slight reduction in oil content over time could have significant health benefits, potentially lowering the risk of diet-related illnesses.

The team also highlighted the possibility of adapting their method for large-scale food production. Microwave systems could be added to existing frying equipment, making it easier for the food industry to adopt these innovations.

While the findings are encouraging, they are still preliminary. The experiments were conducted under controlled conditions, so more research is needed to determine how the technique performs on a commercial scale—considering factors like cost, consistency, and consumer acceptance.

Overall, the study presents an innovative approach to a common challenge. By understanding the physical processes involved in frying, scientists can develop methods to make favorite foods healthier. If widely adopted, this technique might allow people to enjoy their favorite fried foods with fewer health concerns.

For those interested in nutrition, exploring studies about berries and their role in preventing cancer, diabetes, and obesity, as well as understanding the risks of vitamin D deficiency, can be valuable.

Additional recent research sheds light on the relationship between potatoes and high blood pressure and explains why turmeric is considered a powerful health supplement.

  • How To Reach Cooking Completing and Solving in Heartopia

How To Reach Cooking Completing and Solving in Heartopia

Heartopia is a vibrant and cozy game filled with enjoyable activities, including cooking. In Heartopia, players can turn simple ingredients into tasty dishes to eat, sell, or use for quests. The game also features a Cooking Mastery system, which rewards players for repeatedly making certain meals.

Reaching higher levels in Cooking Mastery takes patience, practice, and planning. As you improve, you’ll earn special rewards and show off your achievements beyond just medals. Here’s how to unlock the Cooking Mastery system.

    ### How to Unlock the Cooking Mastery System

Cooking Mastery keeps track of how many times you make a specific recipe. To unlock the different tiers of mastery for an item, you’ll need to cook the same dish 160 times. When a mastery tier is unlocked, you’ll get a letter from Annie in the mail, and you can view your progress under Collection > Gourmet Life > Details > Personal > Records.

Once you reach the first tier, more cooking with the same recipe will unlock subsequent levels. After cooking the same dish 480 times, you’ll reach the Expert level, and at 960 times, you’ll attain Mastery.

    ### Tips for Achieving Cooking Mastery

Reaching the top Mastery tier takes a lot of time. To speed things up, select recipes that are easy to make with common, accessible ingredients. The House Salad, Fruit Jams, and Coffee are some of the simplest recipes to start with. Setting up more than one stove allows you to cook multiple dishes simultaneously. A good setup is three stoves arranged in a semicircle, which helps manage multiple dishes efficiently and gives you time to adjust heat if needed.

For quick and profitable practice, Onsen Eggs are a good option, but keep in mind you can only buy a limited number of eggs each week from Massimo.

    ### What Are the Rewards for Cooking Mastery?

When you unlock a mastery tier by cooking a recipe 160 times, you’ll receive a letter from Annie explaining your progress, along with 1,000 gold coins. The ultimate goal is to complete the entire Cooking Mastery system, which means cooking the same dish 960 times. When you do, you’ll earn a decorative version of that food to display in your home.

Decorative food is a fun way to personalize your space, especially since real food placed indoors can be eaten by strangers. Setting food to “self-only” access helps keep your decorations safe while still creating a lively, restaurant-like vibe. These rewards also serve as impressive display items for your hobbies, showcasing your dedication to cooking mastery.

    ### How to Set Food to Self-Only

If you want to prevent others from eating your placed food, go to your in-game mobile device and open the settings menu. From there, select “Home Settings,” and use the arrows to adjust the “Consume Food” option to “self only.” This way, only you or your chosen friends can enjoy the food you leave on display.

  • Complete Cooking Recipe List for Hytale: Solving and Completing

Complete Cooking Recipe List for Hytale: Solving and Completing

Food plays a vital role in Hytale, much like in many survival games. When you start, you’ll encounter items such as Wild Berries and Raw Wildmeat, which are likely the first foods you’ll eat. Instead of filling a hunger meter, these foods restore your health and provide useful buffs.

However, relying solely on Wild Berries and raw meat isn’t sustainable for long. As you progress and undertake lengthy adventures, you’ll want better options that restore more health. It’s time to cook up some tastier meals using the Chef’s Stove, like a delicious Apple Pie.

    How To Cook Meals

The earliest way to cook food is with a Campfire, which you can craft from your inventory or any Workbench with four Sticks and one Rubble. Cooking on the Campfire allows you to prepare simple dishes such as Cooked Wildmeat or Roast Vegetables using Wood, Sticks, or Charcoal as fuel.

Upgrading to a Chef’s Stove requires crafting at a Workbench with two Copper Ingots, ten Tree Logs, and six Stones. Placing the Stove unlocks a wider variety of recipes across three categories: Prepared, Baked, and Ingredient.

Until you find potions, eating cooked food is your best method to boost health. Most basic foods instantly restore at least 5% of your health and give various buffs like Health Regen I or Stamina Regen I.

    How to Eat Food

To eat, select an item from your hotbar and press the Secondary Action button. It takes a few seconds to consume, and actions such as climbing or taking damage can interrupt the process. You can eat multiple food items during battle to keep restoring health, but buffs won’t stack. The duration resets if the same buff is reapplied or replaced by a stronger version.

    Benefits of Cooking

Cooking meals increases their effectiveness. Cooked foods generally take more ingredients but provide more immediate health restoration, making them more useful during fights. They often also offer better buffs that last longer. For example:

    • Baked meals like Apple Pie and Pumpkin Pie provide a combination of Health Regen III and Stamina Boost III, plus extra buffs.
    • Common early-game cooked foods include Skewers and Salads, made from easily farmed ingredients, ideal until you unlock higher-tier recipes like Apple Pie from an Apple Tree.

  • How to Make a Pineapple Pizza in Goat Simulator 3 and Solve the Puzzle

How to Make a Pineapple Pizza in Goat Simulator 3 and Solve the Puzzle

Goat Simulator 3’s Baadlands: Furry Road is full of hidden references, surprises, and events to discover, just like the main game. You’ll also need to complete various tasks to achieve full 100 percent completion and bragging rights.

One of the trophies you can unlock with the DLC is called “Deliciously Disgusting” for making a pineapple pizza. While it’s straightforward to find the pizza place and learn how to make pizzas, locating the pineapple might be more challenging. Here’s everything you need to know about how to create a pineapple pizza.

How to Make a Pineapple Pizza

    Where to Find a Pineapple
To get a pineapple, you need to find a Pineapple NPC named Abominana in Fruitopia. Abominana can appear in different spots in that area of the map, but the closest location is near the beach huts close to the trash fire on the western side of Fruitopia.
Just interact with her to lick and grab the pineapple. To make transporting easier, you can put the pineapple on your motorbike or use the Flying Broom for quicker movement.

Note: If you have the Flying Broom, it can accelerate taking the pineapple back to your destination.

Where to Find the Pizza Place

The pizza shop, Agora Pizza, is located in Newtown, on the northern side of the town. Inside, you’ll find all the necessary equipment to make a pizza, but you need to get the pineapple first.
Keep in mind that if you start making the pizza and then leave to get the pineapple, the pizza in the store will disappear, which means you’ll have to start over.

    How to Make a Pizza

Here’s how to craft a pizza at Agora Pizza with the facilities provided:

    1. Push the red button next to the flour machine to begin.
    2. Pick up the flour bag and place it in the cement mixer to produce dough.
    3. Collect the dough and spread it on the table by jumping on it repeatedly until it resembles a pizza base.
    4. Use the Topping-o-matic 3000 machine by placing the pineapple in it.
    5. Drag the pineapple to the Topping-o-matic. Remember, placing it in the machine will immediately unlock the “Deliciously Disgusting” achievement.
    6. Next, grab the prepared dough and put it into the pizza oven. Wait until it cooks, then move it to the Serving Station and box it up.

    Tips:

    • Don’t take too long to bring the pineapple because the NPC Abominana may walk away.
    • You can use the Leash Gear from the Multiverse of Nonsense DLC to hold her in place for easier task management.

  • Complete All Cooking Recipes in Vein: The Ultimate Guide to Solving

Complete All Cooking Recipes in Vein: The Ultimate Guide to Solving

Cooking in Vein is essential for survival, providing a dependable way to heal and offering comfort in a dangerous, post-apocalyptic world. Gathering supplies and scavenging for resources is necessary, and there are plenty of ingredients scattered around to help you start your cooking journey.

Whether you farm for your meals or work with what you already have, there are many recipes to explore, and new ones are just waiting to be discovered. To learn everything the game has to offer, check out our comprehensive cooking guide.

    Cooking Basics

In the game, there are four main cooking tools: pot, dish, pan, and kettle. Each can be used on a stove, fireplace, or campfire, but different recipes require specific tools.

Note that despite the various types and sizes, all pots and pans serve the same function; some have larger capacities than others. Finding these tools can be random since they don’t always spawn in the same locations. Focus your search around residential houses or closed businesses, especially areas resembling kitchens. Items such as pots and pans often appear in cardboard boxes scattered throughout these locations. If you want to start with basic recipes, choose the chef occupation during character creation. This grants you three tools, a +25 boost in cooking skills, and access to a magazine with additional recipes once you reach certain skill levels.

For faster skill advancement, consider specializing in cooking when creating your character, especially if you’re pursuing the chef career for quick mastery.

    How to Cook

Once equipped with tools and ingredients, cooking in Vein is straightforward. Remember to transfer your ingredients from your inventory into the stove, campfire, or fireplace—nothing will cook if the ingredients aren’t inside the appliance.

You’ll need your ingredients, any necessary liquids, and the appropriate cooking tool. Recipe details will specify requirements. If any required ingredient appears in red, it’s missing, and you cannot cook that dish yet. Each item cooks at a different speed, and some foods burn quickly if you’re not attentive. The progress bar turns green when your food nears completion.

Cooking beyond 100% will burn your meal, possibly causing negative effects like stomachaches. Properly cooked food with skill buffs will grant those bonuses, but only if cooked correctly. Once finished, remove the meal from the stove to apply its benefits.

Turning off the stove doesn’t stop cooking immediately; the dish will continue to cook as it cools, risking burning. Always move your food off the heat source once it’s done.

    Cooking Magazines and Recipes

Throughout the world, you’ll find cooking magazines that expand your recipe collection. While they spawn randomly, concentrating your search around kitchens or similar areas increases your chances of finding them. Your cooking level determines which recipes you can learn—higher levels unlock more complex dishes.

A quick way to boost your cooking skill is to fill a container with water from a sink and boil it on the stove. This passive method helps level up your skill without risking burnt food.

Cooking meals is a better way to keep your character healthy than eating junk scattered around the map. Proper meals prevent sluggishness and drowsiness, helping your survival prospects.

    Recipes and Crafting

The game offers a wide array of recipes, each requiring specific ingredients, liquids, and tools. Some key examples include:

    • Bagel: Flour, sugar, yeast, water (using a sauce pot), restores 12% hunger.
    • Baguette: Flour, salt, yeast, water (oven dish), restores 24% hunger.
    • Brownie: Fancy chocolate with nuts, flour, sugar, oven dish, restores 3% hunger.
    • Beef Stew: Beef, carrot, potato, broth, cast iron pan, restores 45% hunger and provides a Vitality buff.
    • Cheese Pizza: Cheese, flour, tomato, cooking oil, cast iron pan, restores 180% hunger.
    • Chocolate Cake: Egg tray, fancy chocolate, flour, oven dish, restores 30% hunger.
    • Vegetable Stir Fry: Cabbage, carrot, cooking oil, cast iron pan, restores 38% hunger.

Some recipes provide skill buffs such as Strength, Vitality, Agility, or specific buffs to help you face the world better.

    Brewing Recipes

Brewing in Vein follows the same process as cooking but allows the use of a kettle, which requires liquids like water. To brew, approach a sink with an empty container and select the fill option to add water. Once filled, you can craft items like:

    • Broth: Vegetables or meats, water, any tool.
    • Hot Chocolate: Hot chocolate box, milk, any tool.
    • Maple Syrup: Raw syrup sap, no liquids needed.
    • Tea: Tea bag box, water, any tool.

Always be cautious when cooking; smell can attract zombies, whether they’re hostile or not. Ensure your surroundings are safe before preparing your meals.

  • Pakistani Home Chef Wins Top Award at UK Curry Week

Pakistani Home Chef Wins Top Award at UK Curry Week

Sunia Imran, an emerging culinary talent, has been crowned the winner of the UK National Curry Week Cook-Off 2025, gaining national acclaim for her innovative approach, meticulous technique, and authentic representation of Pakistani and South Asian flavors.

Six of Britain’s top home cooks competed in this event, judged by renowned chefs from shows like MasterChef and The Great British Menu, as well as celebrated UK restaurants. Since its inception in 1998, National Curry Week has celebrated Britain’s deep-rooted love for curry and honored the chefs preserving its rich traditions.

The live competition in London’s Covent Garden comprised five intense rounds, each designed to test contestants’ creativity, skills, and composure under pressure. Participants faced surprise recipes to recreate, with one eliminated after each stage. Sunia demonstrated remarkable talent from the outset, winning four of the five rounds and ultimately securing the championship in the final cooking showdown.

Judges commended her for her sophisticated yet soulful take on South Asian cuisine, highlighting her exceptional flavor balance, technical expertise, and elegant plating. “Sunia’s dishes showcase her passion, heart, and cultural pride,” they noted. “She preserves authenticity while adding her unique creative touch. Her confidence, dedication, skill, and consistency made her stand out from the beginning to the end.”

As the new Cook-Off Champion, Sunia received a £1,000 prize, which she generously donated to Great Ormond Street Hospital in London.

Professionally, Sunia is a full-time Senior IT Project Delivery Manager working for a UK government agency. She also shares her passion for home-cooked meals through lively recipe videos on social media, earning a growing following among food lovers nationwide.

In an interview with Geo News after her victory, Sunia described her experience as both “challenging and inspiring.” She shared, “Cooking has always been about bringing people together and connecting families. Winning this award is a great honor, but above all, it reminds me how food unites communities. Growing up in Lahore, our home was always filled with delicious food and laughter. My mother has been my biggest inspiration, and I’ve always loved exploring different cuisines. Hosting family dinners was our way of spreading joy and creating memories, and that’s what I aim to do with my cooking today.”

She continued, “This event celebrates Britain’s love for curry, and being recognized for my authentic Pakistani and South Asian flavors means everything to me. The judges challenged us to make dishes like Bombay pizza, grilled lemon chili prawns, chicken jalfrezi, chicken malai tikka, and Rajasthani laal maas. I finished each dish on time, with the quality of taste and presentation that the judges expected.”

Reflecting on her childhood in Lahore, she said, “Our home was always a place of laughter and great food. My mother inspired me the most, and from a young age, I loved learning about cooking and trying new recipes. Hosting dinners was our way to share love and happiness, which I still strive to do through my recipes today.”

The Cooking Event in Roblox’s Grow a Garden has wrapped up, with Chris being replaced by a new NPC for the Beanstalk Event. However, cooking remains a permanent part of the game, and you’ll still be able to make your favorite dishes—though you might be unsure how to do it now.

The latest update confirms you can continue cooking using a Cooking Kit. But how do you get one, and how do you use it? Here’s what you need to know.

Currently, some players are experiencing issues with the Cooking Kits, and the team is working on a fix.

    ### How to Get a Cooking Kit

The Garden Guide was added in the update that removed Chris P. You can find it in your inventory by searching for “Garden Guide.” Once you have it, click anywhere on it to open. It provides an index of your pets, crops, recipes, and more.

Within the Garden Guide, there’s an achievement section where you can earn a Cooking Kit. The easiest way to get one is by completing the Common Achievements challenge, which involves:

    – Shoveling 100 plants
    – Harvesting 200 carrots
    – Gifting one carrot
    – Selling 500 strawberries
    – Gifting five strawberries

After completing these tasks, you can claim your Cooking Kit and Silver Seed Packet from the Garden Guide.

There are other achievement rewards offering Cooking Kits, and it appears you can hold up to three in your garden at once. But the steps above are the simplest way to earn one.

    ### How to Use the Cooking Kit

To use your Cooking Kit, open your Cosmetics inventory and place the kit wherever you’d like in your garden. Once placed, you can put ingredients into it as before, and you’ll still be able to view your ingredient list, mutation chance, and timer.

Chris P. is no longer involved, so there are no longer any rewards or cravings tied to him. You can refer to the complete list of cooking recipes for guidance.

The removal of cravings makes cooking easier, as cravings used to sometimes make recipes less reliable—especially if they were similar to what you were craving.

Complete Cooking Recipe & Ingredient List for Solving a Garden Challenge

Cooking has been introduced to Roblox’s Grow a Garden, allowing players to combine their crops and create delicious meals for Chris P., the pig chef NPC. You can exchange the food you prepare for various rewards.

The development team has confirmed that the cooking feature will stay permanently. We will keep this guide updated with all the recipes we discover. Here’s what you need to know:

    How Does Cooking Work?

You can find Chris P. and his cooking pot at the center of the map. Here, you can put crops you have by submitting them into the pot. As you add ingredients, they will show up on a chalkboard and increase a timer indicating how long the cooking process will take. Once your recipe is ready, press the large green “Cook” button to finish.

Keep in mind that heavier plants and larger ingredient quantities will require more time to cook.

    Cooking Rewards

The better the points your finished dish is worth, the higher the rewards Chris P. will give. Possible rewards include:

    • Large amounts of Sheckles (up to 4,2500)
    • Mutation Sprays (Burnt, HoneyGlazed, Fried)
    • Watering Can (speed and size boost for plants)
    • Cosmetic items like Fork Fence and Pretzel Cart
    • Food crates containing various items such as cakes, eggs, or pet boosts
    • Reclaimers to turn plants back into seeds
    • Seeds like Corn, Onion, Jalapeno, or specialized seed packs

    All Cooking Recipes

Players have shared numerous recipes. While endless combos exist, the most common are listed here. Many community members exchange new recipes on the official Discord server, so it’s worth checking regularly.

Note: Giving Chris P. a food item he desires can upgrade its quality—for example, turning a Normal Salad into a Rare Salad. Some foods only work if Chris P. is craving them, and others need ingredients added in a specific order.

Since the Kitchen Storm update, a Recipe Book has been added to track known recipes and their results. The update also simplified higher-tier recipes, and this guide will be updated further as new information emerges.

    Sample Recipes Include:

    • Burger:
Legendary options include combinations like 2x Bell Pepper with 1x Violet Corn or 1x Pepper with 1x Corn and 1x Tomato.
Mythical options range from 2x Sugar Apple with 1x Pepper and 1x Corn to more complex mixes involving Ember Lily and Beanstalks.
Divine recipes feature ingredients like Sugarglaze, Bone Blossom, Elder Strawberry, and others with specific ratios.

    • Cake:
Ranges from simple mixes like 2x Corn and 2x Strawberries (Normal) to complex Divine recipes with multiple rare crops, including Mango, Blood Banana, and Sugar Apple variants.

    • Candy Apple:
Higher quality recipes involve combinations of Sugarglaze, Apple, Amber Spine, or Paradise Petals, culminating in Divine and Transcendent versions.

  • How To Cook in Tales of the Shire: Completing and Solving

The hobbits of Bywater enjoy a good meal in Tales of the Shire: A The Lord of the Rings Game, and it’s your job to serve them well as a kind host. From sweet pies to bitter entrees and salty snacks, there’s a wide variety of flavors to try and enjoy.

Hosting neighbors for a meal means having something to serve, so we’ll help you learn how to cook. You can customize each recipe, and we’ll guide you to choose what’s best to suit your neighbors’ tastes.

    How to Cook Recipes

Your cozy hobbit hole has a kitchen and a pantry. The pantry is where you store all your home-grown ingredients, while the kitchen is where the cooking happens.

In the kitchen, you can see all the recipes you know, along with the ingredients and seasonings you have to make your dishes special. When you start out, you’ll only have a basic setup—a frying pan and a cutting board.

As you progress, you’ll unlock more stations, allowing you to cook even more impressive meals! You can carefully pick which ingredients to use for each dish, considering their flavor and texture, to create the perfect meal for your guests. Better ingredients mean a higher star rating for your dishes.

Serving high-quality meals that satisfy your guests’ cravings will earn you more friendship points.

Ingredients can be obtained by gardening or shopping. Here are some merchants where you can find what you need:

    • Farmer Cotton (Seeds and Gardening Plots): Offers various seeds daily and new gardening spaces, sometimes fully-grown crops.
    • Tom Cotton (Animal Products): Sells meats and dairy from the market, next to his prize cow.
    • Sandyman (Grain and Flour): Finds flour and oats needed for many recipes at his mill to the northeast.

Getting to know your neighbors and helping them out unlocks more recipes for you to learn.

    What Are Flavors?

There are five main flavors, and ten different flavor combinations. These flavors give each dish its unique character since no two dishes are exactly the same. The flavors include:

    • Sweet (Purple)
    • Salty (Blue)
    • Spicy (Red)
    • Bitter (Grey)
    • Sour (Green)

Balancing these flavors with ingredients can create fancy flavor combos! You can check your encyclopedia to see each ingredient’s flavor, indicated by color around the border of its icon. This helps you know what the dish will taste like without extra adjustments.

    What Are Textures?

There are four textures your food can have, and each recipe has an ideal ‘sweet spot’ to earn the ‘textured’ label. Finished dishes can be:

    • Smooth
    • Chunky
    • Crisp
    • Tender

Different cooking stations can influence texture; for example, using a frying pan will tend to make ingredients more tender.

    What Are Seasonings?

Seasonings are used to change or enhance ingredients’ flavors, impacting the overall taste of your dish. When most ingredients share the same flavor, the dish will reflect that flavor more strongly.

You can buy seasonings like salt, sugar, pepper, and lemon from Hobson Hornblower’s stall at the market. Using the right seasonings helps you craft delicious, well-balanced meals.
