What Happens If You Agree or Refuse To Help Alderman in Life Is Strange: Double Exposure?

Detective Alderman from the Vermont State Police in Life Is Strange: Double Exposure is sharp at following leads, especially when it comes to Safi’s murder. His investigation has led him to suspect Moses and Max, and he’s keeping a close eye on them.

After you recover Safi’s camera from Moses’ office, Alderman pulls you aside and asks for your help. He wants you to share any information about who took Safi’s camera and where they might be now. If you choose to help him, it’s considered a betrayal of Moses. If you refuse, you stand your ground.

If you decide to help Alderman:

Alderman thanks you and gives you his business card. You also unlock the achievement or trophy for doing the “Great, Do Crime” challenge. However, Moses overhears your agreement. Later, when you and Moses are about to review Safi’s photos, their conversation becomes tense.

You can try to tell Moses that Alderman gave you no choice or that you don’t truly want to help him. But it doesn’t seem to change much. When you find the photo of Max shooting Safi, Moses feels betrayed, accusing you of selling him out just to protect yourself, and he storms off.

Fortunately, this doesn’t lead to major consequences. After this, Moses learns about your powers and what happens to Alderman, and he seems to forgive Max eventually.

If you refuse to help Alderman:

Alderman reacts by saying he hopes you don’t really know anything, implying that hiding information could create trouble for you. Later, during a chat with Moses—who is clearly upset—you have two options: ask if there’s anything you can do for him or if he wants to talk.

Moses, when shown the photo of Max holding the gun, becomes more distant regardless of what you choose. He tells you to stay away from him, just as he would have if you had helped Alderman earlier. No matter what, Moses leaves upset, and the emotional fallout remains consistent.

    Overall decision:

Choosing to help Alderman brings you closer to earning the Be Great, Do Crime achievement or trophy. It doesn’t significantly impact the story beyond that, as Moses eventually forgives you after he finds out what truly happened. Whether you help or not, your relationship with Moses stabilizes in the end.

If you’re aiming to maximize your achievements, helping Alderman is the way to go. However, if you prefer to avoid disappointing Moses and want a different experience, refusing assistance is understandable. Many players prefer to decline on their first run and help on a second, especially to keep the story feeling more personal and respectful.

  • How the Tifa Outfit Completes Your Experience in FF7 Remake’s Solving

How the Tifa Outfit Completes Your Experience in FF7 Remake’s Solving

Early in Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Tifa asks Cloud to go out for the evening. She then suggests that Cloud choose her outfit for their “date.” You can pick from three options: “Something Mature,” “Something Sporty,” or “Something Exotic.” This choice doesn’t seem to have a big impact, and the date itself doesn’t happen because the team gets busy attacking Mako reactors.

However, this decision does influence later events in a small way. Before making your choice, it’s helpful to know what each option results in so you can pick based on that information. Here’s what your decision affects and the outcome of each choice.

Updated on February 20, 2025, by Seth Parmer:
With Final Fantasy 7 Remake coming to the Nintendo Switch 2, we revisited this guide to add more details and ease-of-use tips, helping you see what’s needed to unlock this choice and what each dialogue option unlocks!

What Does Tifa’s Outfit Choice Affect?

During the third chapter of Final Fantasy 7 Remake, you will spend time with Tifa and Cloud in the Sector 7 Slums. If you complete all side quests in this chapter, you unlock the “Discover: Alone at Last” activity. During this, Tifa invites Cloud out and asks him to choose her outfit—this choice affects her look later in the game during the ninth chapter, when she disguises herself as a bride candidate for Don Corneo in Wall Market.

This choice only changes Tifa’s appearance in that scene; it doesn’t impact the story or events. The options Cloud can select are:

    • Something Mature
    • Something Sporty
    • Something Exotic

Each choice results in a very different appearance. They also bring some brief, unique lines during the scene and afterward, but these are subtle and don’t significantly influence gameplay or story, so there’s no need to worry about missing anything.

    Prerequisite Side Quests

Before you can choose Tifa’s outfit, you must complete certain side quests in Chapter 3, Home Sweet Slum. These are called “Odd Jobs” and include:

    • Chadley’s Report
    • Rat Problem
    • Nuisance in the Factory
    • Lost Friends
    • On the Prowl
    • Just Flew in From the Graveyard

Completing all six of these quests is necessary to unlock Tifa’s outfit choice. It’s worth taking your time to do everything in the Sector 7 area to ensure the option becomes available.

    All Dress Options for Tifa

Once you’ve completed the prerequisites, you can see how each choice shapes Tifa’s appearance during the “Discover: Alone at Last” scene. Each dress not only looks different but can also alter some dialogue lines during the scene and possibly later.

    Here are the options:

    Choice Dress Description Image Preview
    Something Mature Elegant, sophisticated look
Something Sporty Casual, activewear style Sporty Dress
Something Exotic Unique, eye-catching outfit Exotic Dress

    How The Dress Choices Work

Choosing one of these outfits results in a drastically different look for Tifa later in the game, especially during her disguise sequence in Wall Market. The dialogue lines are subtle but can be distinct during the scene and potentially affect some minor interactions afterward.

To see all possible outfits and how they differ, you can refer to the images above. If you’re aiming for specific achievements or just want to experience all versions, selecting each outfit in different playthroughs is the way to go.

    In summary:

    • The option you choose influences Tifa’s appearance during her Wall Market disguise scene.
    • It does not change major story points or gameplay beyond appearance and minor dialogue variations.
    • Completing all related side quests in Chapter 3 is necessary to unlock this choice.

This decision adds a layer of personalization and replayability, giving you different visual styles for Tifa based on your preferred choice.

  • Which Wizard Subclass Should You Choose in Solasta 2’s Completing and Solving?

Which Wizard Subclass Should You Choose in Solasta 2’s Completing and Solving?

Managing all the details in Solasta 2 can be overwhelming, especially when considering the long-term effects of your characters’ starting classes. Still, most party compositions work well throughout the game. The key is choosing a good subclass that complements your party’s setup, including spellcasters like the wizard.

Picking the right subclass means thinking about where you want your character to be several levels down the road. It’s a decision that shouldn’t be made lightly. Here’s what you need to know about the wizard class and its available subclasses.

Best Stats for the Wizard Class

Wizards rely heavily on intelligence, so this should be a priority when assigning your stats. Additionally, decent dexterity and constitution help keep your wizard alive, preventing them from being too fragile.

Beyond stats, your choices related to race and background can help unlock your wizard’s full potential. Consider these options:

    Stat Priority Ideal Range
    Strength Low N/A
    Dexterity Medium 10-12
    Constitution Medium 10-12
    Wisdom Low 8-10
    Intelligence High 12-15
    Charisma High 12-15

Wizards are powerful spellcasters that depend heavily on intelligence. It’s also important to have solid dexterity and constitution to stay resilient in combat.

Your race and background are also important. Here are some recommended combinations:

Best Ancestry Best Backgrounds Best Personality Traits
(No specific ancestry listed) Academic, Acolyte, Occultist, Philosopher, Spy Ruler, Outlaw, Innocent, Sage

Bolded options are recommended if you’re aiming to acquire the Magic Initiate feat.

    Choosing a Wizard Subclass

Once your wizard reaches level three, you can select a subclass to develop specific skills. There are two main options, representing different parts of the wizard’s potential spectrum.

    School of Ruin

This subclass is all about maximizing damage output. However, it leaves your wizard vulnerable if they get too close to enemies. With the right feats, you can become nearly unstoppable, unleashing high-tier magic that takes down single targets or groups very quickly.

    Court Mage

This subclass focuses on survivability and balancing your power. It’s a good choice if you want your wizard to support the party more safely. It sacrifices some offensive potential but provides more protection and crowd control, making it ideal for flexible parties where members can hold their own.

Which Subclass Is Right for You?

Beginners should consider the Court Mage if they find combat mechanics challenging, as it helps prevent your wizard from being easily wiped out. If your party already has a tank, the School of Ruin can be a powerful choice, especially if you stay close to your tank.

More experienced players will likely enjoy the School of Ruin, manipulating magic to cause big explosions and chaos in battles, unleashing their full destructive potential.

  • Should You Kill Silas in Fallout 76: Burning Springs or Complete the Quest?

Should You Kill Silas in Fallout 76: Burning Springs or Complete the Quest?

The Burning Springs update introduces a significant new area in Fallout 76, including a fresh map location, new main quests, side missions, top-tier weapon mods, and more. If you started playing Fallout 76 because of your interest in the Fallout series on Amazon, you’ll likely be excited to see a familiar character making an appearance (no spoilers).

The journey to Burning Springs begins with the Welcoming Committee quest. Completing this introductory task is necessary before you can access the new content.

    ### How To Reach Burning Springs

Once you reach level 50 and have downloaded the Burning Springs update, you’ll get the Welcoming Committee quest along with a new radio signal in your in-game menu.

You can listen to the Ohio Distress broadcast, which guides you toward the western part of Appalachia, leading to a new zone called Burning Springs.

Fast travel to Point Pleasant, then follow your marker west until you arrive at the Silver Bridge. Cross the bridge and battle off the nearby Cultists and Feral Ghouls to arrive at a large scrap metal wall—this is Checkpoint Canyon.

In this area, you’ll face a tough fight against Rust soldiers and their powerful captain. Make sure you’re equipped with your best gear and something capable of dealing with Power Armor. This fight is challenging even for high-level players, but with a solid build, patience, and enough ammo, it’s manageable.

After defeating the captain, your marker updates to guide you toward the radio tower inside the enclosure. Climb the tower and go through the door where you’ll meet Ava. Once you talk to her—and explain you’re there to help—things quickly go wrong, and you’ll wake up knocked out.

    ### What To Do With Silas?

After waking up in a cage, talk to your fellow prisoners, Eugene and Silas, who will explain you’ve been kidnapped. Finish your conversation with Silas, then proceed into the arena. Climb the stairs at the far end to meet the Rust King.

You’ll face a choice to ally with Silas or Eugene. This initial decision doesn’t significantly impact the story, but the Rust King will give you a second choice:

    – Kill Silas and gain free passage into his territory.
    – Refuse, and fight off two enemy waves, including Rust Raiders and a Deathclaw, to prove your worth.

Regardless of your choice, Silas will die in the end—either by your hand or in battle. If you choose to spare him, be prepared for a tough fight against Rust Raiders and their Deathclaw, which can easily kill high-level characters, especially if you’re using a low-health build. The best tactic is to find high ground, shoot from above, and avoid getting caught on the ground.

Once the boss fight ends—either by killing Silas or defeating the enemies—you’ll talk to the Rust King again and gain access to Burning Springs.

    ### Rewards for Completing the Welcoming Committee

When you wake up after the final fight, you’ll have finished the quest and receive various rewards:

    – Aid items
    – Ammo
    – 1,000 base experience points
    – 100 caps
    – Plan for the Welcome to Ohio Sign
    – Plan for the Rust Raider light outfit

Completing this quest unlocks the next mission called Might Makes Right.

Which Class Should You Pick in Crystal of Atlan? Completing the Puzzle!

Crystal of Atlan offers players a choice of 11 distinct classes. Each has its own unique gameplay style, which can feel daunting if you’re not sure where to start. If you’re ready to dive in but unsure of how to proceed, don’t worry! You’ll begin by selecting one of four fundamental classes before advancing to more specialized options.

This guide will walk you through all the available classes in Crystal of Atlan, helping you determine which one suits your gaming style best.

All Classes in Crystal of Atlan

When starting in Crystal of Atlan, you can choose one of four basic classes, each of which can develop into two or three advanced classes. This allows you to tailor your gameplay experience based on your preferences. The four basic classes available are:

    Fighter

The Fighter Class selection screen in Crystal of Atlan.

The Fighter specializes in martial arts and excels in rapid, close-range melee combat. This class can further evolve into two variants: Cloudstrider and Starbreaker, both of which enhance melee capabilities and damage output.

The Starbreaker wields massive gauntlets suited for punishing strikes through fast combos, functioning like a brawler for maximum up-close damage.

The Cloudstrider, on the other hand, channels the spirits of animals for magical attack combinations, offering a more mid-range combat style compared to the Starbreaker.

Switching between stances as the Cloudstrider grants you different abilities based on the animal spirit you connect with.

    Musketeer

The Musketeer class selection screen in Crystal of Atlan.

The Musketeer excels in long-distance combat, using firearms to safely engage enemies from afar. Players can choose advanced classes that enhance this capability, like the Bounty Hunter, which makes dealing large area-of-effect damage easy, or the Gunner, who can switch between melee and ranged combat with different stances.

The Gunner can seamlessly transition between close-range melee, long-range grenade attacks, and mid-range electromagnetic attacks, offering great versatility.

Your abilities will change based on your chosen stance, giving you strategic options based on the combat situation.

    Swordsman

The Swordsman class selection screen in Crystal of Atlan.

If you’re drawn to high damage output and the thrill of wielding a sword, the Swordsman is the ideal choice. Focused on melee attacks, this class is built for front-line action, much like a tank.

The Berserker has a unique mechanic: the lower your health, the more damage you deal. It trades health for a shield, keeping you alive while you unleash powerful strikes.

The Magiblade emphasizes speed, boasting an attack speed buff that allows for rapid damage output. If you enjoy flashy melee skills combined with quick reactions and magical attacks, this class is perfect for you.

Though the Berserker moves slower than other classes, it’s one of the game’s most durable choices.

The Magiblade requires close proximity to enemies, so don’t be fooled into thinking magic attacks allow for distance.

    Magister

The Magister class selection screen in Crystal of Atlan.

The average spellcaster, the Magister specializes in mid to long-range elemental damage using a staff. This class features multiple advanced subclasses.

The Elementalist enhances area damage capabilities, unleashing powerful techniques that target multiple enemies. Staying at a distance is crucial for this class, though some spells can assist if you’re caught too close to the action.

The Elementalist excels at elemental damage, so collecting Thundercores will amplify your attacks significantly.

The Warlock specializes in destructive and forbidden magic, marking enemies to unleash powerful spells. Though it operates within a closer range than the Elementalist, it effectively deals significant magic damage.

This class is primarily focused on mid-range damage but can still manage decent strikes up close.

The Magician focuses on crowd control, with abilities that can manipulate enemies and offers various utility options, such as turning invisible or creating clones.

Managing your cards effectively is crucial for optimal damage output, so be prepared for a bit of luck-based strategy.

    Puppeteer

The Puppeteer class selection screen in Crystal of Atlan.

The Puppeteer class uses controlled puppets to inflict damage, operating as a melee-focused damage dealer. Advanced classes include Scytheguard, which offers various support abilities, and Blademaiden, capable of coordinating attacks with the puppet for devastating combo strikes.

The Scytheguard emphasizes support, offering damage reduction and healing abilities along with self-buffs, making it a fantastic hybrid class.

While focusing on support, the Scytheguard can still deal substantial damage during rotations, proving its versatility.

The Blademaiden allows precise control over your puppet, letting it mirror your attacks. Tactical positioning is key to maximizing damage, as you’ll want to catch enemies between your own attacks and those of your puppet.

Ensure the enemy is in the path of both your and your puppet’s strikes for maximum efficiency.

Ideal Class Selection Based on Playstyle

Skill tree for the Musketeer in Crystal of Atlan.

Whether you’re an MMORPG rookie or a seasoned player, the advanced classes in Crystal of Atlan feature enough variety to appeal to different interests.

To access advanced classes, follow the main storyline until you achieve level 15, at which point you can undertake the Class Branch quest, experiencing different subclasses before making your final choice.

    Classes

    Description

    Beginner

    • Puppeteer
    • Magister
    • Fighter
    • Musketeer
    • Swordsman
    • Bounty Hunter

The basic classes are user-friendly options for newcomers, allowing for a seamless start. Though you can’t revert to these once you choose an advanced class, they present a low barrier to entry, featuring three or four straightforward skills. The skill tree caps at level 10 for easy mastery.

The Bounty Hunter is particularly accessible and familiar for beginners, making it a solid advanced subclass choice.

    Intermediate

    • Scytheguard
    • Berserker
    • Gunner
    • Elementalist
    • Starbreaker

These classes require more resource management but are still manageable for players with some experience.

The Berserker, with its health-for-damage mechanic, encourages strategic play without being overwhelming. Scytheguard players must effectively utilize the New Moon and Full Moon phases for optimizing damage and healing.

The Starbreaker delivers high damage but involves some skill upkeep, similarly for the Elementalist.

    Advanced

    • Cloudstriker
    • Magiblade
    • Magician
    • Blademaiden
    • Warlock

These classes require in-depth micromanagement, making them better suited for players familiar with the genre.

Building damage as the Cloudstriker hinges on effective stance switching, while the Magician’s various RNG abilities demand constant attention.

As a Blademaiden, positioning of your puppet is crucial for maximum efficiency, and Magiblade players need to time cooldowns carefully to sustain speed and damage buffs.

To start Jann Heber’s side quest, called Black Tar Prophecies, you must first complete his initial quest, The Lenses and Eye of the Sage. Speak to Jann in his quarters near Fearghas’ workshop. After exhausting his dialogue options, you can inquire about druidic rituals to kick off the first quest. To locate the Ancient Cromlech, begin at Horns of the South Keep and travel far north, passing by the Hunter’s Camp and the Forgotten Cemetery.

If you talk to Margh at the Hunter’s Camp, you can unlock another side quest, Dead As Dreams, set at the Forgotten Cemetery, which offers valuable rewards.

After reaching the Abandoned Stronghold, proceed east along the road, then take the first path north and cross the bridge near Broc, another NPC with a side quest. Continue east past the All-Mother’s Shrine to find the Ancient Cromlech. Once there, go to the center to trigger the ritual. After witnessing the event and finishing all dialogue, return to Jann in Horns of the South Keep.

    Completing Black Tar Prophecies

Player character speaks with Drest about seeking his assistance in Tainted Grail: The Fall Of Avalon.

Next, find and speak with Drest, located by the beach directly below Horns of the South Keep. Access it by heading southeast from The Village fast travel point or taking a longer route from The Peninsula fast travel point, both of which offer loot opportunities.

Drest is also integral to two additional quests: the side quest Age of Excuses from Berach and a minor one from Keeper Dan. You can initiate all three quests in one visit if you approach him first.

You can convince Drest to assist you without cost by discussing the Red Priest. Alternatively, you can offer him food, like Pork or Cabbage Rolls, to gain his help. Regardless of your choice, Drest will ultimately agree and ask you to meet him at the Ancient Cromlech. Head back there using the nearby fast travel point, and as you approach the central shrine, you’ll trigger a cutscene that leads to two potential outcomes.

Choosing to Attack Iona or Side with Drest

Player character engages in battle against Iona with Drest in Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon.

You can choose to tackle Iona directly, or, through dialogue, align yourself with Drest to initiate a conflict with her. Iona bears the same stats and attacks as a standard dryad enemy and will drop a Dried Resin upon defeat.

After the skirmish, you can ask Drest about Iona, at which point he will request some solitude before making his way home, becoming available for future quests.

You might need to spend some time resting at a campfire before Drest returns to his home along the beach.

    Aligning with Iona

Player character converses with Iona after Drest has been defeated in Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon.

If you opt to cleanse the Ancient Cromlech, Iona will propose a method to repair the ritual, which will involve sacrificing Drest.

Keep in mind that if Drest is killed here before completing side quests like Age of Excuses, you may miss out on finishing them, as his assistance is crucial for positive outcomes.

Agreeing to this will result in Drest’s death, allowing you to loot his corpse for the Druid’s Talisman, which reduces overall Mana Cost by five percent. Afterward, you can discuss the event with Iona.

Regardless of whom you support, you can return to Jann Heber at Horns of the South Keep to share your experience, completing the quest and earning 1000 EXP, along with an additional bonus of about 500 EXP.

  • Choosing the Right Biome for Your Planet Zoo Adventure

Choosing the Right Biome for Your Planet Zoo Adventure

Creating Your Own Wildlife Park in Planet Zoo

Establishing a wildlife park in Planet Zoo is a journey that requires careful planning, but with the right animals and staff, you’ll be well-equipped to reach your goals. Each zoo has its own unique needs, just as different animals have their specific requirements. Selecting the proper continent for your zoo can make it easier to house certain animals. After all, it wouldn’t be suitable to set up a polar bear enclosure in Africa!

To help you get started, we’ll outline the various environments available in the game and which continents they encompass. This will guide you in making informed decisions for your zoo, supporting animal conservation, and raising awareness for your initiatives.

Overview of Biomes in Planet Zoo

When launching your zoo, it’s crucial to select your biome wisely. While you can modify habitats to meet animals’ needs, choosing the right environment from the start can help minimize the adjustments you’ll need to make for their comfort.

Here’s a summary of all the available biomes and the countries you can choose from to establish your zoo:

    Biome Name Continents Included Qualities
Desert Africa, Asia, Oceania, North America, South America This biome features warm conditions that can reach extreme temperatures. Although heating costs are low, keeping non-native animals cool might add to your expenses.
Grassland Africa, Asia, Oceania, Europe, North America, South America This biome is beginner-friendly, striking a good balance between temperature and landscape.
Tropical Africa, Asia, Oceania, North America, South America Warm and adaptable, this biome is suitable for various animals, especially those that require water in their habitats.
Temperate Asia, Oceania, Europe, North America Ideal for beginners, it provides a moderate environment for most animals.
Taiga Asia, Europe, North America Characterized by coniferous forests, this biome suits fur-covered animals well.
Tundra Antarctica, Asia, Europe, North America, South America Extremely cold with temperatures frequently below freezing, leading to high heating costs for enclosures.

Which Biome is Best for Your Zoo?

The optimal biome for your zoo largely depends on your preferences. For newcomers, starting with a grassland or temperate biome is advisable for a balanced experience. However, if you’re looking for a challenge, considering a more extreme biome could be rewarding.

A well-chosen biome will make it easier to regulate temperature fluctuations, leading to a more manageable experience overall.

Keep in mind that your visitors are likely to be more intrigued by animals that are less common in their region. While the difference in donations may not be huge, it’s something to consider, especially since maintaining comfortable habitats for the animals can be costly.

    Important Considerations

Once you establish your zoo, you cannot change the biome or continent, so choose carefully! The success of your zoo will depend on this initial decision. Feel free to select a region that resonates with you or mirrors a local zoo that you admire. The possibilities are diverse, and the success of your wildlife park is up to you!

  • Top 5-Star Character Picks for Express Gifts in Honkai: Star Rail

Top 5-Star Character Picks for Express Gifts in Honkai: Star Rail

The standard 5-star characters in Honkai: Star Rail may not be as powerful as they once were at launch, but they can still greatly enhance your gameplay. With the Express Gift event, you have the chance to choose one of these characters for free. Your selection will depend on what you need for your account, and some characters are particularly noteworthy.

There are also certain characters in the Express Gift 5-star selection that you should avoid due to significant power shifts and reduced usefulness in the current game environment. We’ll break down everything you need to know right here.

The Top Choice for Express Gift: Bronya

Some 5-star characters from the standard banner have remained relevant since the release of Honkai: Star Rail, while others have become less useful over time. Nonetheless, Bronya stands out as the best pick from the Express Gift. Here are the key reasons why:

    • Bronya’s Skill enables any character to act immediately, regardless of their turn order.
    • Her Skill also removes one debuff from the chosen character, ensuring they can act faster and with fewer negative effects.
    • Bronya’s Ultimate provides a team-wide Crit damage boost, which is incredibly valuable and easy to activate.
    • She can be integrated into nearly any team composition, with a few exceptions for very niche characters.
    • Bronya is hard to surpass in terms of power. Even though others, like Sunday, perform similar roles slightly better, she remains an invaluable asset as a secondary support character.

Additionally, Bronya’s abilities make her useful across all game modes, as her buffs are applicable to various damage types, and her ability to grant immediate action is extremely potent.

Another Worthy Option for Express Gift: Himeko

If you already have Bronya, another solid choice from the selection is Himeko. While not as versatile as Bronya, she excels in the Pure Fiction game mode, especially when teamed with Herta.

Himeko also works well in Break and Follow-up Attack teams, as her skills rely on these mechanics to function optimally. Here are some additional reasons to consider adding Himeko to your roster:

    • She will become increasingly valuable with new Erudition characters like Herta, enhancing her already fantastic capabilities in Pure Fiction.
    • Her Break-focused abilities are effective in the Apocalyptic Shadow game mode.
    • Characters like Fugue will improve Himeko’s Break damage potential, making her even more useful.

Building for Pure Fiction can be challenging if you lack characters specializing in area-of-effect (AoE) damage, but adding Himeko dramatically changes your options.

    The Remaining Express Gift Characters

The other characters available through the Express Gift have generally fallen behind, as newer limited 5-star options have surpassed them in many aspects. If you’re a newer player fortunate enough to already have Bronya and Himeko, selecting any of the following characters could still be beneficial.

    Character

    Path

    Description

    Clara

    Destruction

Clara is arguably the best alternative from the Express Gift. Her counter-attacking kit remains effective since Star Rail updated her mechanics alongside Yunli. She’s a reliable choice for all endgame modes, especially in Pure Fiction where she can continuously act if enemies take their turn.

    Gepard

    Preservation

Gepard does have some flaws, like his shields being dependent on his Ultimate and the existence of Aventurine. However, if you haven’t acquired Aventurine, Gepard can still serve as a decent sustain option, although he feels somewhat clunky when compared to more recent characters.

    Welt

    Nihility

Welt found himself in a peculiar position soon after his release. While his skill to delay enemies is useful, it doesn’t compare to providing more actions for your team like Bronya does. Adding Welt to your lineup is more about personal choice than a strategic decision at this point.

    Bailu

    Abundance

Bailu has also seen her worth diminish over time as Honkai: Star Rail has progressed. While her ability to revive fallen characters is strong, her healing has become inconsistent, lacks a reliable debuff clearance ability, and is outclassed by many newer healers.

    Yanqing

    Hunt

Yanqing has often struggled to be a top DPS choice, even during the launch when Seele was dominating. His damage is adequate but fails to stand up to newer powerful damage dealers introduced shortly after. Additionally, he tends to be somewhat fragile, limiting his viability even with supports like Aventurine.

If you have all the 5-star characters available in Honkai: Star Rail, the Express Gift lets you obtain one of their Eidolons for free. For optimal choices, consider between Bronya, Himeko, and possibly Clara’s Eidolons:

    • Bronya’s E1 and E2 significantly enhance her effectiveness. E1 improves her Skill Point economy with a 50 percent chance to regain points spent on her Skill. E2 boosts the Speed of the character affected by her Skill by 30 percent for one turn, which can be extremely powerful.
    • Himeko’s E1 grants a 20 percent Speed increase after any Victory Rush, and her E2 enhances her damage against enemies at half health or lower by 15 percent.
    • Clara’s E1 allows her to use her Skill without consuming a Mark of Counter, and her E2 adds a flat 30 percent damage boost to her Ultimate for two turns.

One last thought: if picking Eidolons or chasing meta options isn’t what you’re after, and there’s a character you prefer or are missing, don’t hesitate to select based solely on your interests. You might not have the best endgame team as a result, but you should always feel free to add a character that resonates with you.

Acquiring a character you lack has its advantages too. Should you pull them later from the standard banner or miss out on a limited banner by losing a 50/50, having that character already unlocked earns you Undying Starlight, which you can use for future pulls.
