Britney Spears Arrested in California Night, Car Reportedly Impounded

Digital Phablet – Records from the Ventura County jail indicate that Britney Spears was detained in Southern California on Wednesday night.

According to the records, police in California arrested 44-year-old Britney Spears around 9:30 p.m. PT on Wednesday and released her on Thursday. Her vehicle was impounded. No specific reasons were provided in the official documents for her arrest. TMZ was the first to report her detention. A representative for Spears told NBC News, “This was an unfortunate incident that can’t be fully explained.” They added, “Britney is committed to taking the proper steps and adhering to the law, and hopefully, this marks a step toward the long-overdue changes needed in her life.”

The spokesperson mentioned that Spears’ “boys” would be spending time with her. She has two adult sons with her ex-husband, Kevin Federline. An individual close to her said, “Her family is planning to create a long-overdue support system to help her achieve better health.” The statement did not specify the reason for her detention.

When contacted for comment, the California Highway Patrol did not immediately respond. Roy’s Towing, the company responsible for removing Spears’ car, also declined to comment.

Spears’ recent social media activity, which included numerous videos of her dancing alone in her Thousand Oaks, California house, is believed to have played a role in her arrest. Over the past few years, online observers have ridiculed her seemingly endless stream of social media posts and have expressed concern about her mental health.

By Thursday morning, Britney Spears’ Instagram account appeared to be deactivated.

It has been five years since a judge terminated her controversial conservatorship, a legal arrangement allowing her father to oversee her finances, career, and personal life for thirteen years. During the early 2000s, Spears experienced multiple mental health crises, including public breakdowns and hospitalizations, which raised concerns about her well-being. Her father had been appointed her conservator during this period.

In her 2018 bestseller, “The Woman In Me,” Spears shared her experiences under the conservatorship, describing how others controlled nearly every aspect of her life—from her career choices to her personal relationships and finances—leaving her feeling trapped and powerless.

Despite her high-profile public appearances and intense media scrutiny—such as incidents where she was seen hitting a car with an umbrella or shaving her head—she has never been arrested.

Recently, Spears sold the rights to her music catalog to publisher Primary Wave for an estimated $200 million, significantly boosting her net worth. In 2021, Forbes valued her net worth at around $60 million. Some of her most iconic songs, including “Baby One More Time,” “Oops! I Did It Again!” “Womanizer,” and “I’m a Slave 4 U,” have sold millions of copies worldwide. Many fans affectionately refer to her as the “Princess of Pop,” cementing her status as one of the most influential singers of her generation. In 2004, her hit “Toxic” earned her her first Grammy for Best Dance Recording, and she has received seven additional nominations.

Earlier this year, Spears transferred the rights to her entire music catalog to Primary Wave for approximately $200 million, marking a significant milestone in her career.

Few artists have matched the commercial success of Spears, whose legacy is defined by her record-breaking hits and cultural influence.

The rapper, whose real name is Montero Lamar Hill, is facing multiple felony counts after police claim he assaulted officers during his arrest last week. Authorities reported that the incident occurred on Ventura Boulevard when they found him exposed and acting erratically.

Law enforcement officials stated that Lil Nas X, in an encounter early last Thursday, charged at officers when they approached him. Reports indicate that witnesses alerted authorities about a shirtless individual in the vicinity, which subsequently led to his detention.

According to TMZ, Lil Nas X was shackled and hospitalized after being spotted wandering around LA at approximately 4 a.m. wearing only his underwear. A tweet from Pop Base confirmed this account, mentioning he was hospitalized following the incident.

Last week, NBC News cited a police source stating that Lil Nas X struck a police officer twice in the face. The source also speculated whether mental health issues or substance overdose might have contributed to his behavior.

At that time, the “Old Town Road” artist was taken to a medical facility and faced charges of assaulting an officer.

Recent legal documents reveal that Lil Nas X has been formally charged with three counts of battery on a police officer and resisting arrest. These papers were filed on Monday in the Los Angeles County Superior Court. Authorities have not yet disclosed additional details about the incident.

Multiple outlets have verified that Lil Nas X was apprehended in Los Angeles on August 21, 2025, after being seen roaming the streets in his underwear. A video captured by TMZ shows him walking erratically, dressed solely in white underwear and cowboy boots. The same source later released footage depicting the rapper, barefoot and unclothed, in the midst of the chaos.

TMZ was the first to report that the artist was hospitalized and obtained exclusive footage of him walking in his underwear and boots. The coverage also includes images of Lil Nas X in a vulnerable state, emphasizing his disoriented condition during the arrest.

Further updates indicate that the rapper was involved in a physical altercation with law enforcement officers, leading to serious charges. The incident continues to draw significant media attention, with ongoing inquiries about his mental health and the circumstances surrounding his behavior.
