How To Clear Your Browser Cache in Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari, or Opera

Your browser cache is similar to a storage closet—it quietly keeps copies of website files like images, stylesheets, scripts, and fonts on your device. Thanks to this cache, websites tend to load faster on subsequent visits because your browser reuses the files it already has instead of downloading them again.

This mechanism not only speeds up page loading but also conserves data, extends battery life, and enhances the overall user experience. However, if you neglect to clean it periodically, the cache can become cluttered. Over time, an overfilled cache can slow down your browser, cause pages to display outdated content, and even lead to website errors or strange behaviors. Clearing the cache is a quick and easy way to resolve these issues.

Fortunately, clearing your browser cache only takes a few seconds. Here’s how to do it in some of the most popular browsers: Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and Mozilla Firefox.

Quick overview: How to clear your browser cache

    • Open your browser’s settings.
    • Navigate to Privacy & Security.
    • Select “Clear Browsing Data.”
    • Make sure “Cached Images and Files” is checked.
    • Click the button to clear the data.

In detail, here’s the step-by-step process:

    In Google Chrome:

    1. Launch Chrome and click the three-dot menu in the top-right corner.
    2. Go to Settings.
    3. In the sidebar, select Privacy & Security.
    4. Click on “Clear browsing data.”
    5. Set the time range for clearing (e.g., last hour, all time).
    6. Ensure “Cached images and files” is checked.
    7. Click “Clear data.”

    Using keyboard shortcuts:

    • On macOS: Press Command + Shift + Delete.
    • On Windows: Press Control + Shift + Delete.

This shortcut directly opens the clear browsing data menu.

Why should you clear your cache?
Clearing your cache forces your browser to fetch the latest website data instead of relying on outdated stored files. It can help fix issues like broken pages, outdated content, or error messages such as 404 or 502. Additionally, it can free up storage space, delete private data like saved passwords and login information, and improve browser speed.

What clearing your cache does—and doesn’t do

    • It can:

      • Free up storage space.
      • Fix website display problems.
      • Resolve certain loading errors.
      • Remove outdated content.
    • It doesn’t:

      • Uninstall browser extensions.
      • Delete saved passwords (unless you choose to).
      • Remove login details (unless selected).
      • Clear your browsing history automatically.

How to clear cache in Firefox:

    1. Open Firefox.
    2. Click the three horizontal lines in the upper-right corner.
    3. Select Settings.
    4. Go to Privacy & Security.
    5. Scroll to Cookies and Site Data.
    6. Click “Clear Data.”
    7. Check “Cached Web Content” and any other data you want to delete.
    8. Click “Clear.”

You can also set Firefox to clear cache automatically on exit by checking “Clear cookies and site data when Firefox closes.” To do this, go to Privacy & Security > Cookies and Site Data and toggle on that option.

    In Safari (Mac):

    1. Enable the Develop menu by going to Safari > Preferences > Advanced and checking “Show Develop menu in menu bar.”
    2. From the menu bar, click Develop > Empty Caches.
Alternatively, for a more thorough clearing, go to Safari > Preferences > Privacy > Manage Website Data, then choose to remove stored data.

    In Microsoft Edge:

    1. Click the three dots in the top right, then select Settings.
    2. Go to Privacy, Search, and Services.
    3. Click “Choose what to clear.”
    4. Check “Cached images and files” (and other data you wish to delete).
    5. Choose the time range.
    6. Click “Clear now.”

    In Opera:

    1. Click the Menu button and select Settings.
    2. Navigate to Privacy & Security.
    3. Click “Clear Browsing Data.”
    4. Choose your desired time range.
    5. Ensure “Cached images and files” is checked.
    6. Click “Clear data.”

In Microsoft Edge and Opera, keyboard shortcuts ⌘⌥E (Mac) or Ctrl+Shift+Delete (Windows) work to open the clear data menu directly.

Understanding the difference between cache and cookies:

    • Cache: Stores website data like images and code to speed up loading times.
    • Cookies: Small data pieces that remember your login information, preferences, and tracking info.

What happens after clearing your cache?
Clearing your cache can boost your computer’s performance and make frequently visited websites load faster. It may also resolve display issues or formatting problems. Keep in mind, clearing the cache may delete saved login info, so note down important passwords before doing so.

    Note:
Clearing your cache generally improves browsing speed and fixes errors, but it does not remove your saved passwords, browsing history, or uninstall extensions.

Keep in mind that regularly clearing your cache is a good maintenance habit to keep your browser running smoothly and securely.

  • Where to Find Every Survivalist Cache in Borderlands 4 While Completing the Game

Where to Find Every Survivalist Cache in Borderlands 4 While Completing the Game

Borderlands 4 features hundreds of collectibles found across its expansive open world. One of the first sets you can complete before leaving the Fadefields involves ten Survivalist Caches—large boxes filled with guns and gear you need to find.

Most of these caches are hidden away from plain sight, tucked in spots away from busy paths. Often, you might pass by some without noticing. Here’s how to locate all ten.

    ### All Survivalist Cache Locations

In the southeast corner of Coastal Bonescape, there’s a small Ripper camp called Haywire Shire. After clearing out enemies, look behind the houses on the east side for a big chest filled with guns.

Moving east from Harper’s Hideaway to a covered bridge crossing the river, inside the bridge’s box, climb onto the rafters to find a hidden Survivalist Cache.

Heading west from Harper’s Hideaway to Sarrett’s Jetty, there’s a cache between two shoreline buildings, guarded by Rippers. The cache is hidden behind them.

From Mort’s farm in Gushing Turret, go west to the lake’s edge and find a broken pipe that you can swim through. Behind it, in a hideout, there’s a cache in the back room.

In the woods northeast of Rootdown Estates, climb a rusty wreck with a wall on the left that leads into some Ripper caves. Defeat enemies in the back room to find a cache and a red chest.

At the southeasternmost part of the map, near a crash site in the swamps of Idolator’s Noose, look for an inlet with a small island. North of that, inside a crashed ship, you’ll discover another cache.

In the area called Idolator’s Noose, climb cliffs on the path to Someday Rise. Instead of crossing a broken wooden bridge, jump into the gorge below to find an abandoned camp with a cache.

Following the northwest road from Synthetic Nave toward a farm near a fork, look to the right for a drainpipe you can crawl into. Inside, you’ll find a secret room with a cache.

In the woods near the “Sum Of His Parts” mission, climb the wall on the southwest edge of the garden nearby. Inside a shack there, you’ll find a cache.

Finally, in the early part of the game, after defeating Redthumb in “The Sum Of His Parts,” climb the wall southwest of the garden to find a shack containing a Survivalist Cache.

    ### How To Open Survivalist Caches

These caches are different from regular chests—they have a tiny switch you must interact with to open them. It’s located on either of the short sides near the top, with signs indicating where to trigger the mechanism. It may be tricky at first, but once you open one, the rest become easier.

    ### What Do You Get For Opening Survivalist Caches?

Each cache contains a variety of weapons and gear, mostly uncommon and rare items, with some epic-tier loot, scaled to your level. They’re perfect for giving your character a boost early on. You can also wait to open them until your current gear is behind your level, as loot scales accordingly. Since these caches tend to drop higher-rarity items than standard chests, they are worth the effort. Keep in mind, unlike regular chests that reset each game session, each Survivalist Cache can only be opened once per campaign.

Once all ten are opened, you complete the related Collection Challenge, earning extra money and Eridium. Additionally, you’ll unlock a new reward— the Never Say DIY weapon skin—available from your main inventory screen.

Completing the Rosethorn Cache Riddle in Oblivion Remastered

During your adventures in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, you’ll discover an array of surprises—hidden spots, Easter eggs, and secret quests that enrich the game’s experience. These treasures are dispersed throughout the land, just waiting for explorers like you to find them.

A particularly interesting example is the Rosethorn Cache, a hidden quest that many players might overlook on their first journey. It’s cleverly concealed, and even if you locate it, deciphering the riddle can be quite challenging. Fortunately, our guide will help you tackle this puzzle.

How to Begin the Rosethorn Cache Quest

Once you acquire your home in Skingrad, called Rosethorn Hall, head to the top floor and enter the bedroom.

In the loft above the stairs, jump up there to find a scroll titled Long Forgotten Note. Picking this up will kick off the Rosethorn Cache quest.

Getting to the loft may require some effort, but if you have decent Acrobatics skill, you should manage just fine.

If you’ve upgraded your home sufficiently, you can simply leap onto the desk, then to the deer statue, and finally reach the loft.

How to Solve the Rosethorn Cache Riddle

If you’ve carefully read the note, you’ll learn that what you’re searching for is an hourglass hidden within the house. No need for guesswork.

Simply head to the basement. On one of the two wooden pillars, you’ll notice one adorned with Garlic Clusters. The treasure you seek, the hourglass, is nestled at the top of the frame on that same pillar.

Once you grab it, the quest concludes, and your rewards include the hourglass, the Ring of the Gray, along with two flawless diamonds, two flawless sapphires, and two flawless emeralds.

  • Discovering the Dawnshore Pargrun Cache in Avowed

Discovering the Dawnshore Pargrun Cache in Avowed

Upon arriving in Dawnshore, the first key area in Avowed’s Living Lands, you’ll notice a lot of markers on the map that indicate various areas. While many of these are simply informational, some contain critical details that can direct you to some of the game’s rarest loot.

The Pargrun Cache is one such location, and it’s significant enough to have its own marker on the map. Here’s how you can thoroughly explore the simpler Dawnshore Pargrun Cache.

    Finding the Dawnshore Pargrun Cache

To reach the treasure hidden inside the Dawnshore Pargrun Cache, you’ll need to go all the way to the northernmost part of the map. Dawnshore is segmented into three main sections, separated by rivers, and you’ll locate the cache at the top of the northern section.

When you arrive, you’ll see three main structures but might struggle to find a way in. To access the Pargrun Cache, approach the top left corner of the bottom left building, where you’ll find some explosive barrels that can be detonated to break through the wall.

You can also use the Charge ability to break through the wall, but destroying the barrels is definitely a simpler solution.

Collecting Loot in the Dawnshore Pargrun Cache

Once you’ve created an entrance by blowing a hole through the wall, you’ll see some wooden platforms leading upwards. Jump up to the highest platform, then leap onto the marble ledge behind it to access the main area. Follow these steps to collect every treasure inside:

    • Your first treasure will be right in front of you after you land on the marble ledge. However, you’ll need a lockpick to open this chest. Inside, you can find one Agate, 20 Copper Skeyt, Common Brigandine Armor, Paradisan Ladder, three Pelts, Iron Chunk, and two Grenades.

    • After securing the first chest, take the left path and jump through the opening to the second building. Here, you’ll spot a few blade traps against the left wall.

Before the blades activate, you’ll notice a trip wire at the bottom. Disable this trip wire by disarming it on both ends to stop the blades. Once you’ve bypassed this trap, you’ll find another chest in the adjacent room.

    • Continue along the path to an open area, where you’ll face several spectres and skeletons. After defeating them, look for an entrance obscured by branches. On the left, you’ll find more explosive barrels that can be blown up.

Detonating these will reveal the entrance to the main building from the side, where you can also find a golden chest containing the unique item, Boots of the Bricklayer.

    • After claiming the main chest in the Dawnshore Pargrun Cache, continue upward using the wooden platforms in the room. Collect the blue chest located up here and proceed through the opening in the building.

After a few jumps, you’ll discover a totem fragment for Dawnshore, which will complete your exploration of this cache.
