All Books and How to Get Them in Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream

In Tomodachi Life: Living The Dream, you can gift your Miis hundreds of items to make them more unique. Whether you’re creating a Mii based on someone you know or a favorite character, everyone can enjoy the cute items you collect in-game.

However, it’s not immediately clear how to get certain prizes or what to do with them. This guide explains all the books you can collect, how to find them, and what options you have once they’re in your collection. Check to see which ones you’re missing!

All Books and How to Get Them

Books are special prizes you earn from winning mini-games. To find a book, you need to select either the small or medium prize boxes, as these give a random chance at winning a book. Keep in mind, the outcome is random, so you won’t be able to pick which book you get outright.

It’s also possible to receive a book from a dream.

There are ten books you can collect in the game, each with its own look and genre. They also have different selling prices if you decide to sell them instead of gifting to a Mii. Here’s a list of the books you might find:

    All Medium Prize Box Books

    • Anonymous Notebook ($5)
    • Book of Many Riddles ($7)
    • Botanical Guidebook ($25)
    • Picture Book ($11.50)
    • Self-Help Book ($15)

    All Small Prize Box Books

    • Covered Book ($5)
    • Funny Comic ($5)
    • Historical Document ($150)
    • Horror Novel ($9)
    • Love Story ($8)

    What To Do With Books

Books are considered treasures that are added to your island’s collection. You can either sell them at Rite Price pawn shop or gift them to your Miis. When gifted, Miis will read the book in their free time or may share it with friends.

If you need extra money, selling duplicate books is worthwhile. On the other hand, gifting a book to a Mii who loves it can help boost their level. Think carefully about your options since you can always earn more money, but you might not find another book soon.

  • How to Write and Publish Books in Heartopia: Completing and Solving

How to Write and Publish Books in Heartopia: Completing and Solving

Building a new life in Heartopia involves spending time with neighbors, focusing on your hobbies, and letting your creativity flow. One great way to do this is by writing a book, and we’re here to help you learn how to do it.

From planning your story to finalizing your manuscript, we’ll guide you through every step. Whether you want to publish a series of novels or simply create a fun photo album of your cats, here’s everything you need to know about writing a book in Heartopia.

    ### How to Start Writing a Book

Once you reach Level 16 in the Developer’s Guild, you can unlock book writing as a dream goal. After that, talk with Annie and complete quests with Mrs. Joan to buy your first writing desk from Ka Ching on the west side of town.

With your writing desk in your inventory, place it inside your home to start using it. Sitting at the desk opens the writing interface, where you can begin a new novel, work on an existing project, or publish your finished work.

    #### Tip:
Books can be published privately or publicly. It’s recommended to publish publicly if you want to achieve the Book Writing Dream goals.

    ### How to Publish a Book in Heartopia

To publish, first create your manuscript on the computer. In the Creation menu, tap the plus icon to start a new book. Give your book a title and confirm to access the writing screen.

On this screen, you can create chapter titles and write up to 4,500 words per chapter. Use the settings to adjust indentation and paragraph spacing. You can navigate between chapters and add new ones easily.

You can also add images from your album and paste text around for easy editing. While adding images can make your book more appealing, they are optional for publishing.

    #### Tip:
When ready to publish, tap the global icon on the book tab to enter the publishing menu. You’ll be able to add a tagline and a brief description of up to 100 characters. You can set your publication date to a real date or an in-game date.

Publishing a book costs one Book Publishing Permit, which you start with ten of after completing the initial quest. You can buy up to 9,999 permits for 10 Moonlight Crystals each.

    #### Warning:
Once a book is published, you cannot change its content or remove it, so make sure everything looks complete before publishing. Also, change your book cover to make it more eye-catching; the cover image should focus on the left side to align properly on the spine.

    ### Where to Buy and Share Books

After publishing, you can order copies of your book from the computer for 6,000g each. Your book will be visible on a self-service stand in town, near Massimo’s restaurant.

You can also buy books from other players for 8,000g each, as well as from NPCs at varying prices. Books can be held as hobby items or tools and placed on tables or around your house so others can read them without purchasing.

    ### All Book Writing Dream Goals

As you work towards completing your writing dreams, your progress and points depend heavily on interactions with other players. It’s a good idea to give copies of your book to friends, include attractive images and covers, and place copies around your home to make your work more visible.

NYT Reporter Sues Google, xAI & OpenAI Over Chatbot Training

An investigative journalist renowned for exposing fraud at Silicon Valley’s Theranos blood-testing startup has filed a lawsuit against Elon Musk’s xAI, Anthropic, Google, OpenAI, Meta Platforms, and Perplexity. The lawsuit accuses these companies of illegally using copyrighted books to train their AI systems without permission.

John Carreyrou, a reporter for The New York Times and author of “Bad Blood,” filed the case in a federal court in California alongside five other authors. They allege that the AI companies have pirated their books and incorporated them into large language models (LLMs) that power their chatbots.

This lawsuit is one of several copyright infringement cases brought by authors and rights holders against tech firms over the use of their works in AI training. It marks the first time xAI has been named as a defendant in such a case.

Representatives for the companies involved have not responded to requests for comment at this time.

Unlike some other legal actions, the authors are not seeking to organize a class action. They argue that class actions tend to favor defendants, allowing them to settle many claims with a single, potentially less favorable, deal.

“The companies developing LLMs shouldn’t be allowed to dismiss thousands of valuable claims at bargain prices,” the complaint states.

Anthropic reached a significant settlement in a related copyright dispute in August, agreeing to pay $1.5 billion to a group of authors whose millions of books were allegedly pirated.

The new lawsuit claims that the authors involved in that case will receive only a tiny portion—about 2%—of the maximum statutory damages available under the Copyright Act, which is $150,000 per disputed work.

The lawsuit was filed by attorneys from the law firm Freedman Normand Friedland, including Kyle Roche, who was featured in a 2023 New York Times profile by Carreyrou.

In a November hearing related to the Anthropic case, U.S. District Judge William Alsup criticized a law firm co-founded by Roche for trying to find a “sweeter deal” by encouraging authors to opt out of the settlement. Roche declined to comment on Monday.

Carreyrou later told the judge that the act of stealing books to develop AI was Anthropic’s “original sin,” and he felt the settlement did not go far enough to address the issue.

  • How to Increase Bookshelves in Tiny Bookshop by Completing & Solving

How to Increase Bookshelves in Tiny Bookshop by Completing & Solving

As you visit the charming locations in Tiny Bookshop, you will sell various types of books to different customers. Eventually, your books will run out, and you can’t simply replace them with decorations. People want books, so you will need to buy more and restock your shelves regularly.

You will need to decide which genres to stock and how to arrange them in different areas, but that’s not all. You might want to stock more books to ensure your customers find their favorites and leave room for a few extras. Managing your inventory and layout is all part of running your bookstore smoothly.

How to Replenish Your Stock of Books

Most new books are purchased through the Bookstonbury Review newspaper. During the tutorial days, you’ll gain access to this paper from Fern. Each day, it offers four bundles of books for you to buy.

Some bundles specify a theme instead of a genre, which hints at the type of books you’ll get. For example, romance-themed bundles might include Drama or Fantasy books, or both. Prices for these bundles vary, and while most provide random genres, some are themed with guaranteed content—like a bundle focused on Mediterranean Travel, which ensures you get plenty of travel-related books. These themed bundles are useful when you need to stock a specific type of book.

You can also find book bundles at the weekly Flea Market every Saturday. Vendors there often sell bundles alongside other goods, and Tilde is the most likely seller of these bundles.

Once it’s fall, you’ll unlock St. Bookston University, where you can find about one to three free books on the ground. Additionally, certain seasonal vendors, like the Gothic Vendor in autumn, sell special book bundles—usually Crime books for fifty coins. Friendly characters like Fern and Anne might also sell books as you get to know them. During the winter market, seasonal merchants offer limited-time book bundles, which only appear during that season and won’t come back until the next year.

    How to Restock Books

Most of the time, you’ll need to restock your shelves after a day of sales. This is done through the Restocking Menu after choosing a location for the day.

Each location has preferred genres that you’ll want to stock, though sometimes you’ll need to bring specific genres to earn a Stamp, even if they are not preferred by that location. To restock, pick the genre, then left-click and drag across the shelf to place books. Alternatively, you can click on individual empty spaces to add books one by one. If you want to rearrange or remove books, right-click on them or drag across rows while holding the right mouse button.

Shelves can hold between eight and ten books per row, depending on the shelf type, with sizes varying randomly—larger books still count as one slot each.

You can also restock any genre you like and customize how many of each to sell, but the minimum number of books needed to start a new day depends on how many shelves you have. For optimal sales, aim for about 70-80% books of the preferred genre for a location, and 20-30% from other genres based on what boosts your sales and recommendations.

If a genre runs low and you haven’t replenished it, focus on selling from locations that do not prefer that genre and do not have it in stock until you can build your supply again. This balances your inventory and keeps sales steady while fulfilling most recommendations.

How to Get More Space for Books

You start with a single bookshelf that holds 40 books, but you can expand your storage in two main ways: buying furniture items that qualify as bookshelves from the weekly Flea Market or purchasing them from the seasonal section of the Bookstonbury Review.

The first upgrade is the Storage Box, available after completing Tilde’s quest to bring her boxes to the Flea Market. It adds eight extra spots for books. As the seasons progress, you will unlock more storage options, such as the Antiquated Shelf, which becomes available for 450 coins once winter arrives. You can also buy shelves from characters like Walter at the weekly Fish Market once you get to know him better.

  • Completing Tainted Grail: Solving Brother Ismat’s Book Return

Completing Tainted Grail: Solving Brother Ismat’s Book Return

As you explore the various areas in Tainted Grail: The Fall Of Avalon, you’ll frequently meet characters who require assistance with a range of tasks, whether it’s finding someone, retrieving an item, or investigating matters they can’t manage on their own.

Some quests are more intriguing than others, especially when they take unexpected twists. For instance, if you’ve encountered Vrell, you know she owns a bookstore. With the chaos caused by the Red Death, discovering that someone is stealing books is the last thing you’d anticipate. Yet, that’s exactly the situation.

How to Begin the Temptation Quest

After you finish the A Delicate Matter quest and some time passes, visit Vrell at her bookstore and have a chat with her. You’ll find out that some extremely valuable books have gone missing, and she needs your help to get them back.

Your first lead is to talk to Walter, a Kamelotian soldier who is a big fan of the stolen books. He can be found just outside her shop.

When you engage with him, he will insist he had nothing to do with the theft but will direct you to a priest who may be involved, despite his usual disdain for such literature.

How to Complete the Temptation Quest

Head to the priest’s home, located just northwest of the city. When you enter the house, you’ll find the priest muttering to himself.

Important: DO NOT TALK TO HIM YET. Before you do, you must read six specific books in his house:

    1. Vrell’s Proof of Delivery – located under the table on the left.
    2. A Sermon on Purity and Temperance and A Clarification on Purity and Temperance – both found on a shelf just past the table on the left.
    3. A Sermon on the Paths of Discipline – sitting on some crates to the right.
    4. Another version of A Sermon on the Paths of Discipline – on the floor just to the right of the priest.
    5. A Sermon on Purity and Temperance – in the bedroom to the right on a small table.

Once you’ve read all these books, you can finally interact with Brother Ismat. During your conversation, you need to get him to confirm he has the stolen books. You also have to choose the right dialogue options when prompted, or the quest may fail.

Here are the essential dialogue choices you need to make:

    • "But what about: Yet it is not the act of the hand that condemns, but the heart that guides it astray."
    • "Speaking on these matters, you seem to adopt an accusatory tone."
    • "I think you allocate sanctity to the wrong things… but it is crucial to find holiness where it truly resides and, at the same time, discern where excessive zeal is unnecessary!"
    • "But is it really for you to judge? The same sermon says: Yet the Prophet’s Judgment is not swift, but discerning and full of care and justice at the same time."
    • "I believe that what people do with their own bodies is their own business."
    • "I’ve met people falling into temptation with good hearts, doing lots of good things for others."

If you select the correct responses and follow the steps accurately, you will convince Brother Ismat to return the books. Return to Vrell to report your success. You have the option to either share the truth about what happened or tell her a falsehood; either way, the quest concludes with Vrell getting her cherished books back.

  • Completing Tainted Grail: Solving Liliana Book Locations

Completing Tainted Grail: Solving Liliana Book Locations

In Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon, unlocking trophies and achievements can often feel unclear. Some descriptions provide little guidance, while what seems straightforward can become quite challenging once you dive into it.

One such achievement is called “For Academic Purposes,” which instructs you to locate all books related to Liliana without any hints or clues. If you’re unsure who Liliana is, don’t fret—we’re here to assist you, all in the name of academic exploration.

How to Unlock the “For Academic Purposes” Achievement

Where to Find All Liliana Books

There are seven books about Liliana scattered throughout the game. However, you can only start finding these once you reach the second region, known as Cuanacht, so make sure you progress through the story until you arrive there.

When you’re ready, head to the main city in the center of the map. Look for a shop called Vrell’s Bookstore, which is located near the Cuanacht Main Square Fast Travel point.

Inside, you’ll meet Vrell, the shopkeeper. Speak with her until you can access her inventory.

Once you’re inside the shop, you can purchase five books related to Liliana:

    • Beautiful Liliana In The Chamber Of Ecstasy
    • Beautiful Liliana In The Dal Riata Captivity
    • Beautiful Liliana And The Lustful Marquise
    • Beautiful Liliana And The Forbidden Pleasure
    • Beautiful Liliana And The Forbidden Pleasure, VOL 2

    Player purchasing a Liliana book

The other two books aren’t for sale but are displayed right on a shelf near the entrance.

    These titles are:

    • Beautiful Liliana And The Lustful Marquise, VOL 2
    • Beautiful Liliana In The Dungeons Of Perversion

Alternatively, you can take these books from the shelf, but be aware that this will alert the guards. Stealing at night might be a better option.

After collecting all seven books, make sure to read them—by which we mean just open them. Then, the For Academic Purposes achievement will unlock!

  • Mastering Speed Reading in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2

In Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, being able to read is a valuable skill. Not every character you encounter can read, reflecting the historical context of the game. Throughout your adventures, Henry will frequently be asked about his reading abilities.

To enhance Henry’s speaking skills and intelligence, spending time with books is essential. While it’s beneficial, some books require a significant time investment. Fortunately, there are strategies to boost the speed at which Henry can read.

How to Read Books More Quickly

To read a book you’ve found or purchased in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, you need to open your inventory and navigate to the Books tab. From there, select Study and decide how long you want to read. Keep in mind that some books necessitate a specific level of your Scholarship stat to read.

If you return to the book in your inventory after clocking some reading time, you can see the percentage of the book you’ve completed. When you reach 100 percent, the book can be sold.

Henry’s reading speed is directly linked to his Scholarship stat. Using this stat in conversations (indicated by a book icon) will earn you experience points and increase your reading speed. Therefore, the more you read and interact with NPCs, the quicker your studying will become.

You can further boost your Scholarship stat by purchasing the Master Studies book from the Scribe located near the market in the center of Kuttenberg.

Finally, if you unlock the Cushion skill within the Scholarship stat’s skill tree, you’ll enhance your studying efficiency. This skill provides a 50 percent boost to comfort when sitting. So, make sure to find a bench or bed to sit on while reading for optimal results.
