How to Make Birds Your Pets in Crimson Desert: Completing and Solving

A recent update for Crimson Desert introduces several new features and fixes bugs. The update includes expanded house storage, a new armor set, and new moves for each of the three playable characters, offering a good amount of fresh content to explore.

One of the most exciting new options is the ability to make birds your pets that will follow you around. If you want to add a bird to your team, here’s how to feed them, what they prefer to eat, and how to increase their Trust level.

How to Get the Sotdae of Bond

To feed birds and turn them into pets, you first need to obtain the Sotdae of Bond. This item is gained by completing the full Trembling Woods quest for the Pororin Forest Guardians. The quest starts in Hernand’s southern part, in the town of Pororin.

If you’ve already completed the quest, you can find the Sotdae of Bond in your storage at the Howling Hills camp.

When you try to enter the village, you might get drugged and thrown out by the defending shais. Don’t let this stop you; try entering Pororin two more times. After the third time, a cutscene plays, and you wake up to Arkin singing to animals. She’ll tell you that you need to find a relic that has gone missing.

Go to the marked location and wait at the cliff where Arkin is. Watch for a large, intelligent tree passing by. Climb onto the tree to find the relic caught between its branches. Pick up the relic and bring it back to Arkin to complete the quest and receive the Sotdae of Bond.

    How to Feed Birds

To feed birds, you need the Sotdae of Bond in your inventory. When you’re near a bird you want to tame, select the “Use” option to place the Sotdae on the ground in a suitable spot (indicated by a blue circle).

Interact with the placed feeder to fill it with food of your choice. Different birds prefer specific foods, such as oats, buckwheat, pineapple, peas, and more. Once the bird notices the food and starts eating, its Trust level will gradually increase. Make sure to feed the bird enough to completely fill the Trust meter in one go. Taming a bird can often be done in one feeding session if you have enough of its favorite food, unlike dogs or cats that take days to domesticate.

Here’s a quick list of birds and their preferred foods, courtesy of CrimsonDesert.gg:

    Bird Name Preferred Food
    Black-Naped Oriole Oats
    Blue Jay Buckwheat

Keep in mind, some birds appear only in specific locations and at certain times. For example, you can find an owl at the Abyss Gate near Howling Hills after 12 A.M., and crows are found in the village of Tariv east of the Hexe Sanctuary in Demeniss.

Once you trust a bird enough, an option to “Take In” will become available. Select this to add the bird to your collection of pets. You can then rename them or choose which bird to use from your inventory. Although they don’t fight alongside you like other animals, they will gather materials from dead bodies and resource nodes.

After taming a bird, you can leave the Sotdae of Bond where it is. It will stay there through travel and will be shown in Cliff’s Recover Item tab when managing your provisions.

How to Tame the Legendary Phoenix

The only exception to the usual method is the Legendary Phoenix, which can be found in the region south of Trader’s Expanse. During the day, look for a large, bright orange bird flying with smaller birds nearby. The phoenix is quite noticeable due to its size and color.

Once spotted, shoot it down with your bow. Don’t worry if this kills the bird; approach the corpse and skin it as you would any other legendary animal to get a Phoenix Feather. Take this feather to a witch to craft a “Sigil of Solidarity (Phoenix).” Using this item will turn the Legendary Phoenix into your pet.

For more detailed steps on obtaining this pet, there is a dedicated guide on the Legendary Phoenix.

Where To Find Articuno, Zapdos, And Moltres In Pokemon Pokopia — Completing and Solving

Everyone has their favorite Legendary Pokemon, but the Kanto Legendary Birds—Moltres, Zapdos, and Articuno—are always among the most popular. It’s no surprise that Pokemon Pokopia is eager to include them. However, getting these birds to visit your islands isn’t as simple as building their habitats and waiting.

For most Pokemon, creating their habitats is just building and waiting. With Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres, the process is more involved. Their habitats are actual building projects that need plenty of materials and a fully equipped construction team to complete.

    ### Where to Find the Kanto Legendary Birds

Each Legendary Bird requires a separate building: the Freezing Chambers for Articuno, the Abandoned Power Plant for Zapdos, and the Altar of Flame for Moltres. The blueprints for these buildings are all located in Palette Town. If you haven’t visited yet, it’s across the bridge from the Withered Wasteland. You can go there anytime, but you’ll need advanced resources to build these structures.

Inside Palette Town, there are three distinct land masses. Each has a tall hill in the middle and a blueprint at the top. Climb up to retrieve each blueprint, then gather all necessary materials to start building.

    ### How to Construct Habitats for Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres

These structures are the closest habitats for the Legendary Birds. They take up a lot of space, so you might need to flatten some land with Rollout. A good strategy is to stay in Palette Town, where you can clear and level land easily. However, you can build these anywhere with enough room.

    | Building | Materials Needed | Pokemon Required |
    |————————|——————————————————————|—————————————————|
    | Freezing Chambers (Articuno) | Stone x50, Ice x50, Crystal Fragment x10, Pokemetal x10 | Build Specialty x1, Water Specialty x1, Search Specialty x1, Crush Specialty x1, Others x11 |
    | Abandoned Power Plant (Zapdos) | Copper Ingot x50, Iron Ingot x50, Sea Glass Fragments x50, Brick x50, Pokemetal x10 | Build Specialty x1, Fly Specialty x1, Generate Specialty x1, Crush Specialty x1, Others x11 |
    | Altar of Flame (Moltres) | Copper Ingot x50, Gold Ingot x50, Lava Rock x50, Pokemetal x10 | Build Specialty x1, Fly Specialty x1, Burn Specialty x1, Crush Specialty x1, Others x11 |

    ### What Do You Receive for Catching the Legendary Birds?

Aside from having these iconic birds make your islands their home, once you capture all three, you receive the recipe for a Tidal Bell. This item is essential for befriending legendary Pokémon like Lugia and Ho-Oh. More details about these relationships can be found within the game.

Getting these powerful birds and creating their habitats is a challenge, but it opens the door to new friendships and rare items on your island adventure.

Complete Your Collection: Where to Find All Birds in Heartopia

When you start your new life in Heartopia, there are lots of hobbies to try. You can cook your favorite meals or watch animals in the wild. There’s always something to do whenever you log in.

One popular activity is bird watching, which lets you enjoy peaceful time in nature. There are dozens of unique birds all across the island. You can team up with friends to join events and discover even rarer and more beautiful birds. Here’s what you need to know to start your bird watching journal!

    How to Find Birds

After finishing the tutorial, you can unlock any hobbies you want, including bird watching. While it might be better to do this last—since other hobbies help you earn gold faster—the bird watching hobby opens new opportunities.

Talk to Bailey J., your hobby mentor, above the pet shop in the town center. He’ll give you your first scanner, which helps you spot birds all over the island.

Equip the scanner and start observing birds. Use the reticle to lock onto a bird, then press the button to take a picture. Doing this will give you an info card that tracks your progress and shows the best quality photo of that bird you’ve taken. These info cards can be given to Bailey J. for extra rewards or sold for gold.

    Tips for Bird Watching

Birds have different poses, like standing still or showing off their tail feathers. The pose will determine the star rating on the info card. Your main goal should be to carefully take pictures of new birds so you can add them to your collection. Your second goal is to get a high-quality picture, so wait for the bird to chirp; this usually results in a better star rating.

Be careful not to get too close; birds will fly away if you invade their space.

    Bird Watching Skill Upgrades

As you develop your bird watching skills, you’ll earn points to improve the hobby. With each upgrade, you’ll unlock new benefits, such as spotting more bird species or getting tools that make bird watching easier. Some of the skills and tools include:

    • Scanner Maintenance: Extends scanner durability for more photos.
    • Observation Skill: Boosts scanner performance.
    • Action Recognition: Detects new bird poses instead of marking them as unknown.
    • Info Card Recycling: Trade info cards to Bailey J. for rewards.
    • Auto Bird Whistle: Purchase from Bailey J. to attract birds more efficiently.
    • Burst Mode: Increases chances of getting extra info cards when scanning.
    • Perfect Photo: Adds an extra star when the bird is close and centered.
    • Camouflage Bush: A duck-shaped bush that helps you stay hidden from birds.

All Birds and Where to Find Them

There are 77 different birds to discover. Each bird appears under specific weather conditions and at certain times of day. Some special variants appear only during events, which happen throughout the week and can be joined or started by you.

Note: The game limits when certain birds appear based on your progress, so this list will update as more birds are found.
