  • This AI Pokes Fun at Your Music Streaming Choices

This AI Pokes Fun at Your Music Streaming Choices

While various apps and websites allow you to keep tabs on your favorite artists and songs throughout the year, what if you’re in the mood for some playful banter and want to evaluate your music-listening habits? Here’s an AI tool that provides the same data as others but with a fun twist.

Music Stats With a Dash of Humor

You might have noticed the trend where people ask ChatGPT to roast their Instagram profiles or even themselves based on earlier prompts. But did you know that’s not where the AI roasting sensation began?

In 2020, a digital magazine named The Pudding introduced an AI tool called How Bad is Your Streaming Music?. This tool dares to critique your most-played songs and questions why you keep hitting the repeat button on certain tracks, not shying away from labeling your taste as either basic or downright cringe-worthy.

It offers up the statistics that actually count, like which songs and artists you love the most, all while serving it with a generous helping of sarcasm. The AI behind this tool has been shaped by over two million metrics of “objectively good music,” pulling insights from sources like Pitchfork reviews, record shop suggestions, and niche subreddits.

What Will the AI Reveal About Your Music Taste?

When you sign in using your Spotify or Apple Music credentials, it kicks off by asking about your listening habits. For instance, it started by questioning if I actually listen to “This is Me Trying” by Taylor Swift—one of my all-time favorites!

After I confidently clicked “yes,” it quickly followed up with, “Do you listen to it ironically?” Naturally, I selected “no,” only for it to move on to critiquing another favorite of mine. It chimed in with “Oh great, another Ariana Grande fan…”

Don’t fret; the AI will eventually shift its focus from roasting your favorite tracks to checking on you. And yes, it will get a few jabs in your direction too. For example, it asked if I’ve been doing okay since my Taylor Swift listening numbers seem a bit excessive lately.

Feeling somewhat called out, I replied with Not really, but instead of being lenient, it quipped: “Look, I’m just an algorithm. Do what you need to do.” Ouch!

To finish things off, it’ll wrap up by claiming it feels a bit nauseated while delivering a barrage of hyphenated descriptors of your music taste.

It labeled my Spotify as “tay-tay-fangirl-billie-stan-stop-getting-all-your-music-from-TikTok bad.” And it wasn’t finished. The AI proceeded to elaborate with terms like “aging-boy-band-stan bad,” “trendy-middle-part bad,” “still-listening-to-The-Scientist bad,” “arianator bad,” and “music-you-hear-at Rite Aid bad.”

It even identified your top overplayed tracks under the heading You Listen to These Too Much, and your favorite artists as You Stan These Artists to an Uncomfortable Degree. The AI is more than happy to inform you just how mainstream you are.

To be fair, while the AI may have been a bit harsh, it wasn’t entirely off the mark. My Spotify Wrapped confirmed that Taylor Swift is indeed one of my top artists, I’m part of Gen Z, and yes, I do get a lot of my music recommendations from TikTok—so perhaps I am a little basic! If you’re looking for something more substantial alongside Spotify Wrapped-style stats, check out Stats.fm.

Using the AI tool is incredibly straightforward. Here’s how it works:

    1. Navigate to the Judge My Music tool’s website and click the Find Out button.
    2. Connect the tool to your Spotify or Apple Music account by clicking on Log in with Spotify or Log in with Apple Music, depending on what you use.
    3. A login page for your chosen service will appear where you can enter your credentials as usual (your information isn’t shared with Judge My Music).
    4. After signing in, just follow the on-screen instructions.

Each time you log in, the tool will warn you that Spotify limits how many simultaneous users it can handle. Just disregard the warning and keep waiting. Now, simply answer the questions the AI throws at you and get ready for it to mercilessly roast your Spotify listening habits.

It won’t hold back, so get ready to enjoy the ride!

As the year draws to a close, one of the first signs is the arrival of interactive lists from major music streaming platforms, summarizing your listening habits. Spotify is known for its annual Wrapped, Amazon Music showcases Delivered, and Apple Music introduces its Replay 2024, which is now available for subscribers to explore.

I’m not being sarcastic—these annual summaries are a delightful way to receive a tailored, data-centric breakdown of the artists, albums, songs, playlists, genres, and stations we’ve enjoyed throughout the year. Additionally, Apple Music compiles a year-end list featuring the top global music, showcasing highlights such as the most-played tracks and artists, along with intriguing stats like the most Shazam-ed songs (thanks to Apple’s ownership of that service) and the most-read lyrics.

“2024 was a historic year across the board, as more women entered the year-end global songs chart than ever, global genres soared to new heights, and several top spots were claimed by artists who had never made the year-end charts before,” Apple Music’s press release noted.

This year’s standout performers include Kendrick Lamar, whose track Not Like Us topped the global song chart, followed closely by Benson Boone’s Beautiful Things and Sabrina Carpenter’s Espresso. • How To Record From Apple Music ([year])

Apple Music is a famous music streaming service that provides access to millions of songs. Whereas it could be an extraordinary way to find and tune in to music, a few clients may need to record tunes from Apple Music for individual utilization. In this article, we’ll investigate a few strategies to record from Apple Music.

Method 1: Use a dedicated music recorder software

One of the most straightforward and solid ways to record from Apple Music is to utilize a dedicated music recorder computer program. Here are the steps to utilize music recorder software:

    • Step 1: Download and introduce a music recorders program like Audacity, Wondershare Streaming Audio Recorder, or TunesKit Audio Capture.
    • Step 2: Launch the music recorder software and select Apple Music as the source of the sound stream.
    • Step 3: Play the song or collection you must record from Apple Music.
    • Step 4: The music recorder computer program will naturally identify and begin recording the sound stream from Apple Music. You can now save the record on your device.

Method 2: Use the built-in recording work of your device

Another way to record from Apple Music is to utilize the built-in recording function of your gadget. Here are the steps to record using the built-in function:

    • Step 1: Select the song or playlist collection you want to record in the Apple Music
    • Step 2: Voice Memos (on iOS) or Sound Recorder (on Android), or any other recording app must be opened, and the song must be played while also clicking on the record button on the recording app
    • Step 3: The recording app will now automatically capture the sound stream from Apple Music and will save that one as a recording

Method 3: Use a virtual sound cable

A virtual sound cable may be a computer program tool that makes a virtual connection between the sound output of one app and the sound input of another app. Here are the steps to utilize a virtual audio cable:

    • Step 1: Download and introduce a virtual sounds cable computer program like VB-Cable, VoiceMeeter, or Sound Router.
    • Step 2: Open Apple Music and select the song  that you would like to record, and open the recording app
    • Step 3: Set the virtual sound cable as the default audio output device in the sound settings of the system to play the song
    • Step 4: The virtual sound cable will divert the sound output to the recording app or program, and the recording app will capture the sound stream from Apple Music and save it as a recording.

Recording from Apple Music can be done through several methods. The least demanding and most reliable way is to utilize a dedicated music recorder computer program, whereas utilizing the built-in recording function of your gadget is suitable for straightforward and personal recordings.

Employing a virtual sound cable is a more complex strategy but can provide more flexibility and control over the recording. In any case of the strategy you select, it is critical to remember that recording from Apple Music for commercial purposes may abuse copyright laws and lead to legal concerns.

In conclusion, recording from Apple Music can be a helpful way to save and listen to your favorite songs and collections offline. By taking after the strategies in this article, you’ll easily record from Apple Music for your use.
