Gaza Zoo Animals Suffer Amid War’s Devastation

When children arrive at the zoo near Gaza’s Nuseirat refugee camp, they often see a lion staring vaguely through the bars and chimpanzees sitting listlessly in their enclosure. Many animals are undernourished and weakened due to shortages of food, medicine, and vaccines, yet they persist, largely thanks to the efforts of zoo owner Mahmoud Gomaa.

Originally, Gomaa operated the zoo in Rafah, a southern city, but he was forced to flee when Israeli troops attacked and took control of parts of the area in 2024. As the conflict intensified, he relocated the surviving animals from one town to another before settling in Nuseirat in central Gaza earlier this year.

In Gaza, Gomaa reopened the zoo with hopes of providing some relief for traumatized children after nearly three years of destruction. He shared that at the start of the war, his priority was to save the animals, even more than himself, as the struggle for survival engulfed everyone.

Prior to the outbreak of conflict between Israel and Hamas, Gaza boasted a number of zoos showcasing exotic and wild animals like lions and eagles, according to municipal records. Now, maintaining such facilities faces enormous obstacles, especially in sourcing sufficient food for the animals amid a strained food supply for the human population.

Veterinarian Nidal Fadel explained that animals are being fed frozen meat, which is harmful because they naturally hunt fresh prey: “This is a catastrophe and a poor nutritional plan.” The war has taken a direct toll on the animals, with Gomaa recalling leaving behind lions, crocodiles, and ostriches when he fled Rafah. When he returned months later, only bones remained of the crocodiles and ostriches, and the lions were gone.

The trauma inflicted by the sounds and sights of ongoing conflict profoundly impacts the animals. Veterinarian Amir Khalil, who has organized rescue missions into Gaza, noted that lions are particularly sensitive, detecting sounds and disturbances humans often miss. “Constant bombing and conflict create tremendous stress and fear for them,” Khalil said.

Inside the zoo in Nuseirat, the solitary lion barely acknowledged visitors, but children found joy in interacting with other animals—parrots perched on shoulders and smaller monkeys that they could pet. Despite the ongoing hostilities and a fragile ceasefire, the zoo provides a rare spot of respite, although Israel’s military, claiming its strikes target Hamas, hasn’t responded to inquiries about civilian infrastructure like zoos and their animals.

Karam Al-Mazin, a 42-year-old visitor, lamented the current situation: “Today, there’s no place for children to play. All that’s left are rubble, stones, and tents. The kids are bored and going through a tough time.”

Where to Find Every Baseball Card in Mouse: P.I. For Hire Completing & Solving

Baseball cards are among the hardest items to find in Mouse: P.I. For Hire because of their small size. However, they’re definitely worth the effort to find, even if you don’t plan to complete the game fully. This is because they get added to your deck when you play the mini-game involving Baseball Cards.

You will encounter Baseball Cards in every mission, but they are usually hidden and difficult to spot. Since they are the most common collectibles in the game, aim to find two to four in each mission.

    All Baseball Card Locations

Like other collectibles, you can buy any Baseball Cards you miss after completing the mission where you first saw them. But since in-game money is limited and you also need funds for the Baseball Cards mini-game, which costs $50 per round, it’s best to find as many as possible for free. Collecting these cards will help you in the mini-game; winning 20 rounds grants you an exclusive weapon that can’t be unlocked otherwise. Additionally, there’s an achievement for gathering all the cards if you’re aiming for 100% completion.

  • All Animals in Hytale: Completing and Solving Locations Guide

All Animals in Hytale: Completing and Solving Locations Guide

Encountering, fighting, and potentially domesticating animals is a key part of the open-world adventure RPG, Hytale. The game world is divided into different biomes called Zones, each featuring a variety of unique animals.

Some animals are friendly to your character right away, while others are more aggressive and might attack as soon as you approach when you leave your starting location. This varies based on where they spawn and the loot they drop. Here’s what you should know about the animals in Hytale.

    Animals Overview

As you explore the colorful pixel landscape, you’ll come across many different animals. Some are solitary, while others move in groups, often acting as packs. Some animals may not see you initially, giving you the chance to sneak up behind them. You can choose to fight them to gather resources or tame them to use as riding mounts or farm animals once you’ve built your base.

Many animals drop valuable resources, such as leather and hides, which are essential for construction and crafting powerful tools. While killing animals yields resources, some items like eggs and milk can be obtained interactively without harm, provided you use the right tools.

How To Capture And Breed Animals

Exploring the world, you’ll encounter a range of animals unique to each Zone. To prevent animals from fleeing when you get close, use a Feed Bag from the Farmer’s Workbench, which keeps smaller animals nearby longer. When animals seem eager or endearing, hearts will appear above them. To make a Feed Bag, you’ll need:

    • Five vegetables you’ve grown near your base
    • Five fruits that can be farmed or foraged
    • Ten Essences of Life from plants
    • Ten wheat plants grown or harvested

If you want to capture an animal and bring it back to your farm, you’ll need a Capture Box. Upgrading your Farmer’s Workbench to the second tier allows you to craft one with:

    • Five wheat
    • Five heads of lettuce
    • Five softwood trunks from beech trees
    • 50 Essences of Life (which require some effort to gather)

Once you’ve captured animals in the crate, transport them to a fenced area on your farm, which should be at least two blocks high to keep predators out.

Animal Behavior: Will It Attack You?

Animals that see you will have an exclamation mark above their heads. Their reactions depend on their behavioral type:

    • Passive Animals: Don’t mind your presence and will try to run away if you attack.
    • Neutral or Defensive Animals: Are wary but won’t attack unless provoked.
    • Hostile Animals: Will attack immediately upon sight. Sneaking up on them is recommended if you’re preparing for combat.

    Predators And Prey

Throughout each biome, you may notice bones or carcasses of animals. These indicate the presence of dangerous predators that hunt smaller creatures and are immediately aggressive towards you. When building enclosures to keep captured animals safe, it’s best to make fences at least two blocks high, as predators can vault over single-high fences.

    All Animals In Hytale

A comprehensive list provides details on where each animal can be found and what resources they offer, often grouped by Zone. Some animals, like owls, wolves, and mice, appear in multiple zones, so they’re not limited to a single area.

Every Animal In Hytale And Where It Drops

The game features a wide array of animals, each with different attitudes and resource drops. For example:

    • Zone 1 Animals: Boars provide light leather and wildmeat; chickens can be passive or protective, dropping eggs and raw chicken.
    • Zone 2 Animals: Antelopes yield light leather; crocodiles drop heavy hides; foxes are neutral or passive, offering raw wildmeat.
    • Zone 3 Animals: Bison and moose are passive, providing hides and wildmeat; the snow leopard is hostile, dropping medium hides.
    • Zone 4 Animals: Creatures like the cave rex and dragon-like pterodactyl are hostile, dropping heavy hides and wildmeat; some, like the Archaeopteryx, are passive.

Note: If you activate the arachnophobia mode, spiders will appear as crabs, making the game less creepy for some players.

The variety and behavior of animals across the Zones add depth and strategy to your exploration, resource gathering, and farming in Hytale.

  • Completing All Pets and Their Roles in Neon Abyss 2

Completing All Pets and Their Roles in Neon Abyss 2

Welcome to the vibrant, mythologically-inspired universe of Neon Abyss 2. As you embark on your adventure, you can choose from a variety of Agents to explore the Neon Abyss. As you defeat foes and navigate deeper into the dungeon, you’ll encounter striking, colorful eggs.

These eggs can hatch into Hatchmon, adorable creatures that act as companions and capable allies in your battles. They will actively seek out enemies for you, and with some luck, you can evolve them into Super Hatchmon, unlocking their special powers to assist in defeating your foes.

Currently, Neon Abyss 2 is in Early Access on Steam, so details may change as updates roll out.

    Understanding Hatchmons

Hatchmons are small creatures that hatch from eggs and will follow you, providing help during battle. When you’re not fighting, they float behind you, but once combat begins, they automatically go after enemies, even if you’re stationary.

However, if they take damage, they might be knocked out, dropping to the ground until you revive them by walking over them. If you possess specific relics, like the Tenacious Sapling, they will be revived automatically after a short duration.

There’s no cap on how many Hatchmons or Eggs you can carry, but you can adjust settings to limit what appears on-screen, reducing any potential distractions.

Hatchmons come in five colorful mini variations: Pinky, Tealy, Ivory, Purply, and Limey. By combining specific groups of four mini Hatchmon, such as three Pinky and one Limey, you can evolve them into a Super Hatchmon, granting unique skills and enhanced attacks. Additionally, certain Weapons and Artifacts can gain strength or bonuses based on how many Hatchmon or Eggs you carry, making them important for your overall strategy.

How to Acquire and Hatch Hatchmons

Hatchmons begin as eggs, which you can acquire in various ways: by breaking objects, completing rooms, buying them from the Temple of Shopping, and opening different types of chests. The most frequent method of obtaining them is breaking crates and vases.

Some Agents, like Elise, have special Hatchmons that are unique and cannot evolve into Super Hatchmon.

Upon collecting an egg, you will receive a random one from one of the five basic Hatchmon types, and you’ll need to hatch it. Hatching is mainly done by defeating enemies in various rooms, with an average of three to four rooms typically needed to hatch a single Hatchmon.

Occasionally, eggs may not hatch successfully, but when a hatch is successful, you’ll see a notification revealing what Hatchmon you’ve received.

Finding certain Artifacts, like the Dinosaur Skull, can speed up the hatching process and may allow other actions, such as causing explosions, to contribute to hatching progress.

    The Temple of Agapeism

Once you unlock the first perk in the Evolution Skill Tree and level up enough to access the Agapeism Perk on the second page, you can visit the Temple of Agapeism. Agapeism, like Consumerism, is one of the faith choices available at the Pillar of Faith at each level, and you’ll gain faith by hatching or acquiring eggs.

This faith can cause the Agapeism Proxy to appear randomly in rooms, dropping an egg each time it gets hit.

With a full faith meter, you can use the Pillar of Faith or a Teleporter to visit the Temple of Agapeism, where you can purchase eggs for 15 Gold each, trade excess eggs for Gold, or utilize a machine in the room’s center to instantly hatch multiple Hatchmon. Like other Temples, once you leave, it will vanish, but you can return on the next floor by selecting Agapeism again at the Pillar of Faith.

    How to Obtain Super Hatchmons

Super Hatchmons are more powerful than their mini counterparts and have unique abilities. They also deal more damage, although some might be less aggressive depending on their abilities.

To evolve into a Super Hatchmon, you’ll need to combine four mini Hatchmon, with duplicates remaining until you find the right evolution combination.

These powerful allies are obtained by evolving specific mini Hatchmon combinations or through particular weapons or events, like taking a loan from the Temple of Shopping to receive the Grabie Hatchmon. The type of Super Hatchmon you receive is strictly determined by the combination you use.

    All Available Hatchmons

There are five basic mini Hatchmons, each with a different number of evolutions: Pinky has eight, Limey and Tealy have seven, Purply has six, and Ivory has four.

Hatchmon eggs come in various patterns, but the color of the egg determines the type of Hatchmon you’ll hatch. For instance, Pinky can come from pink-dotted or pink-and-white-striped eggs.

Hatchmon Can Evolve Possible Evolution Combinations Acquisition Method
Pinky Yes Pinky x4, Pinky x3 + Limey x1, Pinky x3 + Ivory x1, and more. Open a pink Hatchmon egg.
Limey Yes Limey x4, Limey x3 + Pinky x1, Limey x3 + Purply x1, and more. Open a green Hatchmon egg.
Purply Yes Purply x3 + Tealy x1, Purply x3 + Limey x1, and more. Open a purple Hatchmon egg.
Tealy Yes Tealy x4, Tealy x3 + Ivory x1, Tealy x3 + Pinky x1, and more. Open a blue Hatchmon egg.
Ivory Yes Ivory x4, Ivory x3 + Pinky x1, and more. Open a yellow Hatchmon egg.
Feary No N/A Acquire the weapon Noxmare.
Kiddy No N/A Use the Agent, Elise.
Skely No N/A Acquire the weapon RITUAL.

    All Available Super Hatchmons

There are 23 different Super Hatchmon with most evolving from combinations of mini Hatchmon.

You can find a complete list of Super Hatchmon evolution recipes in the Hatchmon Booklet found in your menu, though the booklet doesn’t include their names or abilities.

While most Super Hatchmons will attack enemies for you, some, such as Grabie, rarely attack unless you use a specific weapon. For example, the RITUAL weapon generates spikes that can also inflict damage.

Super Hatchmon Evolution Combo/How to Obtain Ability
Huffie 3 Ivory and 1 Pinky Takes damage to increase attack damage. Resets each floor.
Snippie 1 Ivory and 3 Pinky Splits dropped items into smaller units when possible.
Vitalie 3 Purply and 1 Tealy Starts as a ghost; consumes Hearts to regain physical form.
Grabie Take out a loan from the Temple of Shopping. Occasionally retrieves coins to help pay the loan.
Wackie 2 Tealy and 2 Ivory Throws Clown Bombs; unleashes more after being revived.
Quartzie 3 Pinky and 1 Limey Duplicates Curio effects at no extra cost.
Cloudie 3 Purply and 1 Limey Gives an extra jump and may spawn Jump Marks in battle.
  • Tips for Ensuring Animal Happiness in Planet Zoo

Creating your own zoo is no small feat, especially if you want to avoid protests outside your exhibits. In Planet Zoo, your mission is to ensure the animals have the best possible lives until they are either released back into nature or live out their days comfortably in captivity.

Maintaining high animal welfare is essential not just for the animals, but also to keep your visitors satisfied and willing to support your efforts. Here’s a guide on how to ensure your animals are well cared for and how to manage their stress levels.

How to Check If Animals Are Stressed

Checking the welfare of bonobo in the habitat.

To determine if your animals are experiencing stress, go to the animals section in the zoo menu or select the specific animal directly. This will open a menu showing the animal’s welfare status.

Each animal has a set of essential needs. These include:

    Animal Welfare
    Welfare Need Specific Needs Description
Nutrition Nourishment The overall feeding status of the animal.
Last Meal Quality The quality of the animal’s most recent food.
Hydration The amount of water the animal has consumed.
Last Drink Cleanliness The quality of the water the animal last drank.
Social Social Group How many similar-aged companions are present.
Space The area the animal has to move around, including swimming and climbing.
Stress The level of distress based on the fulfillment of their needs.
Habitat Cleanliness The hygienic condition of the habitat.
Temperature The habitat’s temperature in relation to the animal’s needs.
Terrain The type of materials found in the habitat.
Plants How closely the vegetation matches the animal’s natural environment.
Hard Shelter A safe place for the animal to retreat from view.
Enrichment Food Enrichment in Habitat The number of interactive food sources available.
Toy Enrichment in Habitat The variety of toys provided in their space.
Interspecies Bonus A benefit earned when different species coexist harmoniously.

Each need has a status bar indicating its condition. A green status means everything is good! If you’re concerned, you can hover over any specific need to find out what the animal needs more or less of to feel comfortable in their space.

How to Make Animals Less Stressed

There are numerous strategies to reduce stress among animals. Each habitat presents unique challenges as animals have specific preferences and requirements. Meeting these needs can take time and effort.

Remember: If you fail to meet their needs, protesters may appear!

    Build Better Habitats

Your first priority should be to enhance the quality of the animal habitats. Providing adequate trees and shrubs and ensuring the terrain is suitable are crucial. If their environment doesn’t resemble their natural habitat, animals will likely feel stressed.

Animals like chimpanzees, bonobos, and lemurs also require climbing structures to create a sense of space by allowing them to move vertically.

    Use One-Way Glass

Consider implementing one-way glass barriers that allow guests to see the animals without them being aware of it. This setup enables your visitors to enjoy the view while keeping the animals relaxed. Some species may benefit more from this than others, but it is an effective way to prevent overexposure and stress. Feel free to adjust barriers as needed to incorporate this feature.

    Provide Enrichment

A comfortable habitat is only part of the equation. Animals require stimulation too! Offering toys is essential for keeping them engaged and content.

Enrichment can range from simple toys to interactive feeders that pets can manipulate. Items like frozen fruit or tires can be great for many animals. You can browse the enrichment options in the habitat menu by species to find just the right fit for your animals!

  • Farming Crops and Raising Animals in Mirthwood: A Guide

Farming Crops and Raising Animals in Mirthwood: A Guide

It’s no surprise that players are drawn to Mirthwood for its engaging farming features. Each game has its own take on farming mechanics, and Mirthwood is no different, incorporating seasonal and day-night cycles that influence not just your crops, but other game elements as well.

In this game, you can own a variety of farm animals and mounts, each requiring daily care and attention. This guide will walk you through everything you need to kickstart your own thriving farm, including how to acquire seeds, animals, and necessary upgrades so you can begin making a profit.

    How to Grow Crops

To plant your crops, you start by using a Hoe to create tilled soil. You have the choice between a locked grid system for organized placement or manually placing your soil however you wish, even shaping it into fun forms like hearts or circles.

Once you have seeds in your inventory, they’ll be available for quick selection using your scroll wheel (activated by pressing TAB). Just remember, crops need to be watered frequently—once a day might not cut it, as the soil will dry out again. However, don’t worry; your crops won’t die if you water them daily.

    Where to Buy More Seeds

If you’re looking for seeds, head northeast of Brightoak to Northdell Farm. Near the windmill, a market stall offers a variety of seeds for every season, plus deeds for farm buildings and animals.

    How to Acquire Farm Animals

You can get a range of farm animals at Northdell Farm, while horses can be found with various traders; these are merely for riding and don’t produce any resources. All other farm animals require daily feeding and can produce goods for your farm.

Farm animals eat Hay, which can be harvested by cutting tall grass with your scythe. For increased efficiency in gathering Hay, consider upgrading your scythe. Additionally, Northdell Farms sells Hay at their trade stall.

To keep animals that produce milk, you can purchase a Milk Pail for 125 coins at Northdell.

    Northdell Animals Overview:

    Animal Produce Cost
    Horse None 5,000
    Bull Beef 2,500
    Guernsey Cow Milk, Beef 2,000
    Holstein Cow Milk, Beef 2,000
    Royal Goat Meat 2,000
    Gloucestershire Pig Truffles, Meat 1,800
    Landrace Pig Truffles, Meat 1,500
    Toggenburg Goat Milk, Meat 1,500
    Rooster Meat 1,200
    Cochin Chicken Eggs, Meat 1,000
    Leghorn Chicken Eggs, Meat 1,000

These animals need shelter, so investing in building recipes is essential. Starting a farm will require a significant investment since both animals and buildings are quite pricey.

    Building Cost
    Barn Drawing 3,000
    Stable Drawing 1,500
    Coop Drawing 1,500
    Mill Drawing 1,000

    All About Crops

Crops in Mirthwood follow a seasonal cycle, meaning you can only plant seeds in their designated seasons. You can, however, purchase all seed types year-round, with one exception: Wheat Seeds, which can be planted in all seasons except winter, allow you to have a continuous growing season.

    Crop Overview:

    Crop Season Growth Worth
Strawberry Seeds Summer TBD 15 coins
Garlic Seeds Fall TBD 12 coins
Onion Seeds Spring 3 days 10 coins
