Completing Devil May Cry 3: The Key to Solving Bayonetta’s Creation

Hideki Kamiya is a well-known Japanese game developer famous for creating games like Devil May Cry, Okami, and Bayonetta. He has a strong history of launching successful game series.

Kamiya recently discussed leaving Capcom in 2006 and the challenge his former coworker, Hideaki Itsuno, faced in continuing the Devil May Cry series.

Itsuno became involved during the development of Devil May Cry 2, which did not do well for Capcom. However, with more experience, Itsuno was able to create Devil May Cry 3, a game that set new standards for action games.

    Competition Inspires Innovation

In a recent YouTube Q&A, Kamiya was asked about Itsuno. He explained that, although they didn’t work together much at Capcom, Itsuno often looked for Kamiya’s advice while making Devil May Cry 3.

“Since I wasn’t the director, I could say whatever I wanted without any real responsibility,” Kamiya mentioned. “Itsuno told me, ‘only Kamiya can get away with stuff like that. If we do the same, fans would get mad.’

Kamiya understood that after the disappointment of Devil May Cry 2, Itsuno had to be very careful in his work to not upset the fans again.

However, when Devil May Cry 3 became a huge success, it motivated Kamiya. While working on Okami, his colleague Shinji Mikami encouraged him to play Devil May Cry 3, calling it “wild.”

“When I saw it, I thought ‘damn, this is awesome,’ it really fired me up,” Kamiya said. “I was like, ‘there’s no way I’m losing to that,’ it really sparked my competitive spirit.”

When Devil May Cry 4 was launched, the team behind Bayonetta was eager to top Capcom’s action series. “If Itsuno hadn’t created DMC3 and DMC4, there would have been no Bayonetta,” Kamiya said, expressing gratitude for Itsuno’s influence.

Kamiya is currently working on a sequel to Okami, while Itsuno has recently left Capcom after directing Dragon’s Dogma 2.

  • Ranking Every Class from Worst to Best in Heroes of Hammerwatch 2

Ranking Every Class from Worst to Best in Heroes of Hammerwatch 2

Heroes of Hammerwatch 2 features seven unique character classes, each with its own strengths and weaknesses. Overall, these classes are well-balanced, allowing players to choose any class as they advance through New Game Plus and beyond.

Thanks to the Guild Title system, you’ll be encouraged to explore each class to earn permanent stat bonuses. Still, it’s a good idea to identify one class to focus on as your primary character. If you’re curious about which class stands out, you’ve come to the right place. Just keep in mind that every class can be effective during New Game Plus, so we ultimately suggest picking the one that you enjoy the most.

    Rogue

    Recommended Mastery: Demolitions

The Rogue excels as a fast, melee combatant who can swiftly dart in and out of battle, taking down groups of enemies before retreating. Despite being listed last, the Rogue remains a formidable choice, especially with the proper setup. However, some of its Class Mastery options, like Poison and Blades, may seem less exciting or limit the class’s versatility. On the other hand, the Demolitions mastery significantly boosts the Rogue’s area-of-effect damage.

    Ranger

    Recommended Mastery: Beastmaster

The Ranger is the quintessential long-range fighter, striking from a distance with volleys of arrows while skillfully evading enemy attacks. While the Ranger is solid overall, it falls short in Class Mastery options and overall damage output. Beastmaster is the standout Mastery here, making gameplay more enjoyable. This class is particularly good for players who prefer to kite enemies, picking them off one at a time.

    Warrior

    Recommended Mastery: Berserker

The Warrior offers straightforward gameplay, focusing on hitting enemies with physical attacks. All three Class Masteries bring exciting depth: the Berserker enhances mobility with Leap, the Primalist allows for summoning totems, and the Tyrant improves area-of-effect attacks. While Berserker may be the most powerful option, the Warrior is a reliable choice regardless of Mastery, allowing you to customize your approach with various weapons thanks to its high Strength stat.

    Wizard

    Recommended Mastery: Evocation

The Wizard is a ranged spellcaster skilled in all elemental types and equipped with a defensive Barrier ability. Compared to the Sorcerer, the Wizard offers slightly better survivability at the expense of some damage. The Class Masteries are particularly engaging; Conjuration lets you summon powerful allies, Transmutation grants impressive stat bonuses, and Evocation allows for dramatic meteoric strikes across the battlefield.

    Sorcerer

    Recommended Mastery: Lightning

Unlike the Wizard, the Sorcerer shines in offense. With Class Masteries that specialize in Fire, Ice, or Lightning damage, you can achieve incredible synergy by sticking to one elemental type. While this may limit build planning, the effectiveness speaks for itself. The Sorcerer excels at decimating groups of enemies, especially with the Lightning Mastery, which delivers outstanding burst damage.

    Warlock

    Recommended Mastery: Souls

The Warlock blends melee attacks and spellcasting. By defeating foes, the Warlock generates Essence for improved survivability and wields Dark Ritual for area damage. Players have various build options across three compelling Class Masteries. Summoning Mastery focuses on using pets, Soul Mastery bolsters the Warlock’s core abilities with high AoE damage potential, while Chaos Mastery introduces fun mechanics involving damaging energy rifts.

    Paladin

    Recommended Mastery: Radiance

The Paladin stands out as both a fantastic starting class and a strong choice in New Game Plus. Its Lay on Hands ability ensures effective healing, while its Class Masteries provide significant utility and damage potential. The Radiance Mastery is particularly noteworthy, offering a wide area-of-effect fire attack that helps the Paladin handle groups more efficiently, turning it into one of the strongest options in Heroes of Hammerwatch 2.
