  • How to Get Satellite Data Peacefully in Outer Worlds 2 by Completing and Solving

How to Get Satellite Data Peacefully in Outer Worlds 2 by Completing and Solving

In The Outer Worlds 2, three main factions are fighting over the Arcadian star system, and they’re unknowingly causing the star system’s destruction. However, you don’t have to choose a side. With some effort and teamwork, you can unite the Order of the Ascendant and Auntie’s Choice to face their common enemy — the Protectorate.

This requires a lot of work from both factions. The final task for the Order involves retrieving data from a satellite that crashed on Paradise Island, deep inside Protectorate territory. Since the Order doesn’t have a presence on the island anymore, they ask you to do it as a show of trust. Expect a fight unless you can find a way to outsmart the Protectorate.

How To Start The Crash Course In Telemetry Quest

This quest is the last in a series leading up to your meeting with Ruth Basaar, the Presiding Bishop of the Order of the Ascendant. All these quests are given by Laureate Enola Kraft, and this one isn’t affected by your previous choices, so you can’t miss it or lock yourself out.

Keep in mind: Since the goal of the alliance between the Order and Auntie is to storm the Archive, many related quests might end if you decide to take control of the Archive yourself first.

Kraft wants you to find a satellite that monitored the Order’s activities. It was once an important asset but now lies in Protectorate territory on Paradise Island. The Protectorate believes the satellite belongs to them since it was once part of their system, so they refuse to give it up. That means you’ll likely need to take it by force.

    Getting Help With The Satellite

Kraft suggests there might be a peaceful way to handle this, but she doesn’t know how. She recommends visiting the Caffeintegration Point, a cozy coffee shop near Laplace Garden’s entrance, where operatives gather for advice during tough situations.

Your approach depends on whether you’ve met Persephone Doyle before. If you have, she’ll be outside where you last saw her, and you can ask her directly for help if you’ve previously assisted her. If not, she’ll be inside behind the counter, offering both coffee and guidance.

Before she agrees to assist, you’ll need to help her with her own task, called the Controlling For Convenience quest. This involves gathering a water sample from Laplace Garden and sending it to her allies. As long as you complete this — even with altered samples — she’ll be willing to help.

Persephone isn’t giving her assistance for free. You’ll need to agree to let her copy the satellite data, and she’ll then create a diversion for you. She doesn’t specify what kind of diversion, so you’ll have to find out on your own.

    Recovering The Satellite Data

Once you’ve arranged help, head over to Paradise Island and locate the satellite, guarded by Protectorate soldiers. If you didn’t ask Persephone for help, they’ll be immediately hostile. Your options are to fight them all or sneak around to grab the data from the crashed satellite — either way works.

If you did team up with Persephone, you’ll encounter another Protectorate officer, Cadet Warden Halstead. She’s been told an engineer will examine the satellite soon, but she’s required to follow protocol since you don’t appear to be part of the Protectorate.

To calm her concerns, you need a Engineering skill check of just four points. If you don’t have enough, you can try persuading her with Speech checks of four and five points. Failing both, you can use the Grim Visage perk to persuade her. Failing all options might trigger combat, as she’ll call for backup, and you’ll need to fight your way through multiple enemies with limited cover.

No matter how you proceed, once at the satellite, just take the data — no skill check needed — and then return to Cloister.

Should You Hand Over The Satellite Data To Persephone?

You and Persephone agreed she’d create a diversion in exchange for a copy of the satellite data. You’re not required to follow through, but it’s generally better to let her handle her end, as it maximizes your rewards. After giving her the data, she’ll reward you with a Generative Masked Flat Cap and 2,000 Bits.

Returning the data to Kraft makes her very happy, which is unusual for her. She’ll reward you with items like the Mathematician’s Mantle, the Advanced Decryption Key, and 650 Bits. With this quest finished, you’ll finally reach the stage to meet Ruth Basaar. If you’ve already met Auntie Cleo of Auntie’s Choice, this is your last step before negotiations. Remember, Ruth still needs some convincing before she agrees to talk.

In an ongoing feud between two tech titans, the Wall Street Journal reported on Monday that a group led by xAI CEO Elon Musk has made an unsolicited bid of $97.4 billion for a controlling stake in OpenAI, a direct competitor. This offer arrives just months after Musk initiated legal action against OpenAI over its shift to a for-profit model.

Musk expressed his intentions through his lawyer, Marc Toberoff, stating, “It’s time for OpenAI to return to its roots as an open-source, safety-focused entity that benefits society. We will ensure that happens.”

The Wall Street Journal indicates that this proposal is supported by xAI, which may lead to a merger with OpenAI if the deal is finalized. Although the board of OpenAI has not reached a decision on the offer, Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, has publicly dismissed Musk’s advances, humorously suggesting the purchase of Twitter (now officially known as X “The Everything App”) for the same amount instead.

No thank you, but we will buy Twitter for $9.74 billion if you want.

    — Sam Altman (@sama) February 10, 2025

The rivalry between Musk and Altman spans several years. The duo co-founded OpenAI in 2015, but Musk resigned from the board in 2018 after his demands for substantial control and leadership were rejected. He later founded xAI in 2023, known for the Grok chatbot, and has consistently targeted both OpenAI and Altman since then.

In March 2023, several months before launching xAI, Musk co-signed an open letter urging AI labs to pause the development of systems more powerful than GPT-4 for six months. Notably, xAI was publicly launched almost exactly six months later.

Later that year, after Altman’s brief removal from OpenAI’s leadership, Musk shared an anonymous letter accusing Altman of unethical practices, with sources traced back to an unverified online message board.

In 2024, Musk initiated multiple lawsuits against OpenAI. In March, he targeted Altman and the company’s President, Greg Brockman, claiming they violated the founding principles in their pursuit of profit, but he withdrew the lawsuit just before a ruling was to be made. He reinstated the lawsuit in August, alleging that OpenAI’s shift from a nonprofit to a multibillion-dollar for-profit entity was a betrayal of its original mission.

The lawsuit expanded in November to include Microsoft as a defendant, with Musk naming Shivon Zilis, the mother of three of his children, as a co-plaintiff. OpenAI responded with a statement revealing Musk’s initial support for the for-profit transition, backing it up with email documentation. The court has yet to make a ruling, and with the ongoing hostilities between Musk and Altman extending over six years, it seems unlikely that this latest development will be their final confrontation.

Digital Eclipse’s Atari 50: The Anniversary Celebration provides an impressive and thorough retrospective of the iconic games that Atari has produced over the years, complete with playable titles and engaging content. The collection has already received its first downloadable content, The Wider World of Atari, which introduced additional games. Now, it is on the verge of adding a second DLC due to a strategic acquisition this past year.

On Friday, Atari revealed The First Console War, a DLC focused on its initial battle with Intellivision, specifically highlighting a notable aspect of that rivalry. In the 1980s, Mattel was responsible for publishing games on the Intellivision. At one point, they decided to offer versions of these console-exclusive games for the Atari 2600 under the M Network brand. The upcoming DLC will include 19 of these titles, launching on November 8 for multiple platforms, including PC, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, and PlayStation 4 for those who already own Atari 50.

You may come across some unfamiliar titles. For instance, have you heard of Astroblast? It’s not uncommon for games to have different names when Mattel transitioned them. Luckily, the names used for the Atari M Network are closely aligned with the originals.

After acquiring Intellivision in May, Atari has effectively concluded the longest-running console war in the gaming industry, gaining access to a library of over 200 games, which includes more than a dozen titles from the M Network library. Following this acquisition, Atari CEO Wade Rosen expressed the company’s intent to distribute the games and explore opportunities to create new titles based on these intellectual properties.

Digital Eclipse, also owned by Atari, specializes in creating video games that serve as both retro remasters and interactive museum experiences, and The First Console War will adhere to this tradition. This DLC will feature interviews with M Network programmer Jane Terjung, game historians Leonard Herman and Mike Mika, as well as former Atari developers David Crane and Garry Kitchen. A new timeline outlining this critical period in gaming history will also be included.

Check out the complete list of games included:

    • Air Raiders: 2600 M Network
    • Antbear: 2600 M Network (unreleased, based on Stern IP)
    • Armor Ambush: 2600 M Network

  • Apple Acquires Popular Mac App Users Love

Apple Acquires Popular Mac App Users Love

Today, the widely used photo-editing application Pixelmator announced its intention to become part of Apple in a blog post. This news was highlighted by 9to5Mac. The deal is still awaiting regulatory approval, and the Pixelmator team stated that no changes would be made to their applications at this moment.

Pixelmator offers two main apps: Pixelmator Pro, a robust professional-grade image editing tool available for a one-time payment of $50, and Photomator, a free editing app. The pricing of Pixelmator Pro makes it a more accessible option compared to competitors like Photoshop, which tends to have higher subscription costs.

Both apps are packed with useful features such as color correction, AI-driven background removal, and various illustration tools. Photomator has garnered accolades over the years and is compatible with Mac, iPhone, iPad, and the Apple Vision Pro.

    Pixelmator

While Pixelmator has assured users that there will be no immediate changes to its products, the outcome of the acquisition could bring about an array of possibilities. Previous acquisitions by Apple have resulted in different trajectories for the purchased apps; for instance, they have occasionally discontinued apps like Dark Sky while maintaining others like Final Cut Pro and Logic Pro.

The limited editing capabilities of Apple’s Photos app highlight how beneficial it could be to integrate the technology from Photomator, enhancing the photo-editing landscape on iPhones.

As for the acquisition’s approval, while it may face little to no hurdles, large corporate mergers often attract scrutiny from regulatory bodies. Historically, large-scale acquisitions, such as Nvidia’s attempt to purchase Arm, have faced rigorous examination and even rejection. If Apple continues acquiring smaller firms, it may also catch the attention of authorities.
