Hussam Siilawy faces increasing backlash following controversial remarks and disownment by his family.

The controversy erupted after Siilawy made comments about Islam during a live broadcast. While discussing his personal views on Quranic verses, he made statements that diminished the Prophet Muhammad’s (peace be upon him) role in transmitting the divine message and interpreting the Quran, describing him as merely a business manager.

Siilawy also criticized individuals he labeled as uneducated, accusing them of misinterpreting Quranic texts. He then offered his own interpretations, such as retelling the story of Adam (peace be upon him).

During the show, Siilawy also mentioned his preference for Christianity, which led many to accuse him of apostasy.

These comments sparked strong disapproval from his audience and family members, many of whom called for unfollowing him on social media. At the time of this report, he had lost approximately 100,000 followers on Instagram.

His father stated, “May God guide him and bring him back to the right path.”

His words, considered blasphemous and disrespectful towards Islam and the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), prompted his father, Ziad Siilawy, to publicly condemn him and his actions through a message posted on his company’s social media page, which he later deleted. He clarified that he has severed all relations with his son, as his mother did years ago.

Following this, his father expressed: “May God guide him and lead him back to the straight path.”

Bashar Siilawy, a relative, has called for urgent help for Hussam, urgently requesting that people prevent his situation from escalating into despair or even suicidal tendencies. Bashar wrote on social media: “My brother, Hussam, is not at all like what you’ve seen. He needs immediate professional help and support. I urge everyone to just say a kind word and pray for him so that God guides and heals him. This is a medical condition, and qualified doctors and specialists are the only ones who can help. Please, anyone who can assist—even a small effort—step forward. He doesn’t need rejection; he needs help.”

A senior security official told Roya News that the Cybercrime Unit of the Public Security Directorate has begun an investigation into an online video involving Hussam Siilawy, which contains outright insults to Islam and the Prophet Muhammad.

The official added that Siilawy is currently outside Jordan, and an arrest warrant is imminent to ensure his legal accountability. Once he returns to the country, authorities will proceed with investigations and necessary legal measures.

The backlash against Hussam Siilawy grew rapidly after his inflammatory video, which insulted the Prophet Muhammad, led to widespread outrage on social media. Many called for accountability, trending hashtags like “#HoldSilawiAccountable,” condemning his statements as offensive to religious beliefs and advocating for legal action.

Some commentators connected his comments to his recent separation from his wife and previous claims of bipolar disorder, suggesting he might be experiencing a public “nervous breakdown” in need of therapy.

His family and community have expressed strong disapproval. His father, Ziad Siilawy, has disowned him publicly, emphasizing that they have no relation now, posting that he hopes for his son’s repentance and return to God.

Bashar Siilawy has also appealed for help, emphasizing that Hussam needs medical and psychological assistance, warning against dismissing his condition as mere rebellion or opinion, and urging support rather than rejection.

Furthermore, the Jordanian Artists Syndicate issued a statement confirming that Hussam Siilawy is not a member of their organization and disassociates itself from him, describing him as an “imposter.” They condemned his recent statements and assured the public that he has no official connection to the syndicate, emphasizing their stance against disrespecting religious values and misusing art and media to spread falsehoods or incite conflict. The syndicate has stated it will pursue legal action to protect the reputation of Jordanian arts and culture if such behavior persists.

Following the release of the video, social media campaigns demanded accountability, with many users demanding his prosecution for the offense of insulting religious figures.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Hussam Siilawy, as confirmed by official sources, with authorities prepared to take legal action once he returns to Jordan, ensuring he faces justice for his statements.
