Rockstar Games recently revealed that they established a dedicated research team in Miami to study the city and its residents for the upcoming GTA 6. The team explored the area extensively, meeting with former criminals, law enforcement officials, club promoters, gun dealers, and other influential figures to craft realistic and compelling characters for the game.
Prior to the GTA 6 Netflix Extended Look, insights from the senior VP of narrative at Rockstar indicated that this Miami-based team played a crucial role in shaping the game’s character roster. They conducted on-the-ground investigations, immersing themselves in the local scene to gather authentic stories and personalities.
“In our efforts, we connect with ex-criminals, law enforcement contacts, club promoters, gun sellers, and anyone with notoriety or influence willing to talk to us,” one insider explained.
Additionally, Rockstar staff socialized with locals, attentively listened to their stories, and performed background research to fine-tune the characters that will populate the game world. This approach helps bring the vibrant Miami setting to life, making each corner of the map filled with interesting personalities eager to be discovered.
“By hanging out, sensing the local atmosphere, listening to stories, and cross-referencing with books and journalism, we aim to identify the characters that will truly bring the city we’re creating to life,” they added. It appears the GTA 6 universe will be brimming with diverse characters to encounter.
Already, the game’s cast includes a variety of criminals such as veteran drug runner Brian Heder, bank robber Raul Bautista, and Jason Duval’s close friend, Cal Hampton, who was recently spotted in leaked nighttime footage of GTA 6.
