Fable Gamescom Demo Confirms 60 FPS Mode for Xbox Launch

Xbox gamers eagerly awaiting Fable can now look forward to a smoother way to explore Albion. During the extended gameplay reveal at Gamescom 2026, Xbox announced that Fable will launch with a 60 FPS performance mode on Xbox Series X|S.

In a newly uploaded gameplay video of Fable Quest, Playground Games showcased a playable demo at the Xbox Gamescom 2026 event yesterday. The demo ran at Ultra PC settings at 60 frames per second. Fans concerned about Fable’s performance on Xbox consoles can relax now.

Earlier this week, on the Fable page in the Xbox Store, players noticed the game’s performance modes and resolution details. The description states, “Fable is optimized for Xbox Series X|S consoles supporting 4K Ultra HD, HDR, and 60 FPS.”

This indicates that Fable will offer three graphical modes on Xbox consoles: a 4K UHD mode operating at 30 FPS, an HDR mode targeting 40 FPS, and a performance mode with reduced visual quality offering a consistent 60 FPS.

Shortly after the gameplay was unveiled, players noticed that although the demo appeared to run at 30 FPS on Ultra PC settings, insider reports confirmed the build was actually played at 60 FPS.

Additionally, Xbox provided a closer look at Fable’s detailed combat and crafting system during the Gamescom demo, highlighting the capabilities of the new ForzaTech engine powering the game. Before the show, Playground also made significant facial redesigns for a female character in Fable.

Recently, other developers like Rebel Wolves, creators of The Blood of Dawnwalker, announced performance modes for their upcoming games. However, for the Xbox Series S, only a 30 FPS target has been listed.

Fable is set to launch on February 23, 2027, on Xbox Series X|S, PC, Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Cloud Gaming. The game will be available through Xbox Game Pass on launch day.
