If you’re looking to manage your Amazon Bedrock Knowledge Bases more easily, you’re in luck—support for CloudFormation is now available. This update, announced on April 5, 2024, means you can now set up and control your Bedrock Knowledge Bases directly through CloudFormation templates.
Since CloudFormation support is in place, the AWS Cloud Development Kit (CDK) also supports your needs, as the CDK creates CloudFormation templates behind the scenes. With the CDK, you can build managed knowledge bases using simple, ready-made components called constructs. One of these is the CfnKnowledgeBase construct, which allows you to customize key parts like the knowledge base setup, storage options, and embedding models. You can choose storage options such as Amazon S3-backed vector stores with OpenSearch Serverless, giving you flexible data management options.
The CDK provides specific settings to help you configure the knowledge base. For instance, the ManagedKnowledgeBaseConfigurationProperty lets you set up your embedding models, while the ManagedKnowledgeBaseConnectorConfigurationProperty handles data sources for your connectors. These features are available in several programming languages, including Python, TypeScript, Java, Go, and .NET, making it easier for developers to use the tools they’re comfortable with.
If you’re having trouble finding or using these new features, make sure you’re running the latest version of the AWS CDK. Since support has been available since early April 2024, updates are key to accessing the newest capabilities.
