On August 2nd, DeepSeek announced plans to recruit developers for its open-source Agent Harness project. The company’s Harness team leader, Cui Tianyi, shared a call for applications via the X platform, inviting open-source project contributors to participate in an internal beta test. Interested applicants are required to provide their GitHub ID and showcase notable contributions to relevant open-source projects.
The recruitment process appears to be selective, with the initial phase involving screening within small group circles. Successful candidates will need to sign a confidentiality agreement, as leakages could jeopardize future product testing and collaborative opportunities with DeepSeek.
Cui Tianyi, who joined DeepSeek as the head of the Harness team in March, brings nearly a decade of experience working in quantitative trading at Jane Street before co-founding TSY Capital, a quantitative investment firm. Leading up to this internal test, the Harness team has been actively hiring research analysts, engineers, and product managers for several months.
This internal beta launch coincides with the recent public testing of DeepSeek’s V4-Flash API, which went live on July 31. DeepSeek has indicated that the Harness project will be launched in tandem with the official release of the V4 version, highlighting a significant step forward in their product development pipeline.
