Yellowstone Season 6 Spoilers And Costner Update

After a nearly two-year break, the second part of season 5 of Yellowstone is set to return this November. Since the show last aired in January 2023, viewers have been treated to plenty of twists and turns. The addition of a new season, along with Kevin Costner’s exit, has stirred the pot surrounding this iconic series.

Before the launch of season 5, part 2, Yellowstone director Christina Voros chatted with The Hollywood Reporter about some of the show’s most pressing issues. Given its immense popularity, Voros noted that series creator Taylor Sheridan aimed to minimize leaks as much as possible. Voros even humorously remarked that the efforts of Yellowstone to maintain confidentiality rivaled those of Marvel.

“The focus was more on safeguarding the experience for the audience rather than being secretive,” Voros stated. “We took substantial measures. I filled the role of script coordinator and personally redacted scenes for each cast member. Many actors only received the parts of the script relevant to their characters. This meant that even some of our seasoned performers, who have been on set for seven years, won’t know what happens until the premiere.”

Voros shared that she will direct the first four episodes of the upcoming season, with Michael Friedman helming the fifth, and Sheridan directing the final episode. Regarding the finale, questions linger about whether the sixth episode will conclude the season or the entire series. Initially, season 5, part 2 was promoted as the series finale, but more recent updates hinted at a potential season 6 featuring Kelly Reilly’s Beth and Cole Hauser’s Rip. Voros did not confirm or deny these rumors.

“The level of secrecy surrounding this has definitely created an atmosphere of protection for the conclusion of the show,” Voros remarked about the finale. “As for what lies ahead? I genuinely don’t know.”

With the news of Costner’s departure from Yellowstone back in June, fans are left wondering about his character, John Dutton, and his role in the forthcoming episodes. Despite his exit, the most recent trailer prominently featured him. What’s Voros’ take on this?

“His role is essential. To go into further detail might compromise the careful work we’ve done to redact the scripts,” Voros explained. “People are curious about his presence because he is the family patriarch and his character is crucial to the narrative. John Dutton remains a central figure.”

The second part of season 5 of Yellowstone will premiere on the Paramount Network at 8 p.m. ET on Sunday, November 10.
