In mid-2024, Kinetic Games expanded the world of Phasmophobia by unveiling Point Hope, introducing a challenging new puzzle. This involves igniting the lantern in the lighthouse, which rewards players with a unique ID card and badge to personalize their profiles. Since the game’s early access launch in 2020, new maps have been added for players to explore while hunting for ghosts, including locations like the Prison and Sunny Meadows Asylum. However, Point Hope stands out with its ten vertically stacked floors, presenting fresh challenges and untold secrets for ghost hunters to uncover.
In Phasmophobia, players earn ID cards and badges as rewards for finishing holiday events, reaching prestige levels, and assisting in game development. These ID cards allow players to see their character model, manage voice chat levels with others, and display information like player names, platforms, and levels. Badges can accompany ID cards to signify a player’s in-game role. To celebrate the launch of the new map, players who successfully solve the lantern puzzle at Point Hope will receive the exclusive Ferryman of the Drowned ID card and badge.
How to Acquire the Point Hope Hidden ID Card & Badge
Complete the Puzzle to Uncover a New Style
To solve the Point Hope Lighthouse puzzle in Phasmophobia and earn the Ferryman of the Drowned ID Card and Badge, players should start by launching an investigation on the Point Hope map. There’s no need to identify the ghost or complete the investigation. It may be wise to choose a custom difficulty where the ghost can’t initiate hunts, and the power is turned on, providing sufficient light for navigation. Experienced ghost hunters can tackle the puzzle during an active ghost investigation, regardless of the difficulty setting.
Most of the items needed to complete the puzzle can be found within the lighthouse. However, players must come equipped with a UV lamp, which is essential for finishing the puzzle. It doesn’t matter which tier of UV lamp they bring, as all three versions available for purchase in the game will suffice. Players should also have at least one empty slot in their inventory.
Step 1: Play a Game of Pool
Once at Point Hope with a UV lamp ready, head to the fourth floor of the lighthouse, which features a games room complete with a billiards table. On the wall next to the stairs, observe the three seashell paintings that stand out against the rest of the decor. From left to right, the shells are green, blue, and orange, serving as the first clue. This correlates with the pool balls players must sink in the corresponding color and order into the billiards table pockets.
Using an empty inventory slot (Default E on PC), players don’t have to use a cue stick. Instead, they can pick up the pool balls in color order and toss them into any hole (Default G on PC). For optimal results, aim for a hole across the table and throw slightly higher to give the ball some lift.
If done correctly, a clinking sound signals that players will find the Lantern Cabinet Key inside the ball box on the billiards table. This key is essential for progressing further in the puzzle. Like car keys in Phasmophobia’s small house maps, the Lantern Cabinet Key will show up in the player’s journal beside the building key.
Step 2: Fix the Lantern Cabinet Gears
Next, ascend to the eighth floor of Point Hope, depicted as a workshop. Players will discover a gear leaning against a cabinet near the workbench littered with paintbrushes and a spilled can of red paint. Collect the gear and proceed to the ninth floor, where a locked wooden cabinet sits with a rusty gear on top, creating a dead end around the staircase.
Unlock the cabinet using the key obtained earlier and place the gear into the empty socket. Players will hear three cracking sounds as the gears start to turn.
Step 3: Ring the Bell
Next, head back to the first floor and exit the building. Outside, you’ll find a large bell at the front of Point Hope. To continue, players must ring this bell three times, approaching it and pressing the Primary Use button (Default left-click on PC). A hissing sound will indicate that this step has been successfully completed.
Step 4: Illuminate the Lamp
Proceed back up to the tenth floor of Point Hope and step out onto the balcony. From this vantage point, look for the fire near some rocks in the distance which reveals the letters “UV” written in the sand.
Return inside the lighthouse and shine your UV lamp on the large lantern in the middle of the room until it glows purple. Afterward, go outside again to witness UV-lit figures floating in the water, highlighted by the lantern’s illumination. This effect will persist until you exit the game.
When you return to the lobby, a notification will pop up stating Level Up! Unlocks: Ferryman of the Drowned. Click Accept to confirm and continue your game.
Changing Your ID Card and Badge Designs
Modify Styles from the Main Menu or Lobby
Like other ID cards and badges earned in Phasmophobia through prestige levels or seasonal events, the Ferryman of the Drowned Hidden ID Card and Badge carries no gameplay benefits.
This is purely a cosmetic upgrade, which players can choose to toggle on or off based on their preference. The same applies to the visual effect of floating corpses at Point Hope, which doesn’t influence gameplay.
To set the Ferryman of the Drowned ID Card and Badge, select the bulletin board from either the Main Menu or the lobby and click on the Edit button located in the upper-right corner of your player ID card.
Scroll through Special Badges until you find and select Ferryman of the Drowned. Then choose Ferryman of the Drowned under ID Card Theme. Press X in the ID card’s corner to confirm the changes and exit the Edit menu.
There’s also an additional ID Card and Badge reward associated with Point Hope in Phasmophobia. However, acquiring this one requires simply playing on Point Hope and identifying the ghost correctly 50 times. Successfully doing this will unlock the Lighthouse Keeper Special Badge and ID Card Theme.
