If you’re struggling with today’s Connections puzzle, you might benefit from a little assistance. Today presents various elements, and the numerous words can be quite ambiguous. Understanding the context is essential, and today, it’s particularly crucial. To help you navigate the right context, consider these helpful hints and strategies.
For a different puzzle experience, try the NYT Letter Boxed game, which can be both challenging and enjoyable. Unlike Connections, you can make as many guesses as you want, reducing that sense of urgency. You may need to guess multiple times to determine if you’re even close to the right solution, but you can continue piecing things together until you reach the answer or time runs out.

CALL |
DUB |

NAME |
This category initially eluded me as I focused on others first. However, once I realized it, the answers became more apparent. If you CALL something, you are using its NAME to set it apart from others. DUB and LABEL carry similar meanings, but with variations. Thankfully, this category felt relatively straightforward today, with little overlap with other categories. By identifying these words, you can tackle the remaining categories with greater ease.

CRUISE |
TAKEOFF |
TAXI |
TOUCHDOWN |
This category includes some tricky terms today. The standout was TOUCHDOWN, which initially led me to think there might be a misleading American football theme. However, upon closer inspection, you’ll find only two words clearly fit that context, prompting a swift reassessment. Still, these words can be confusing, as they don’t overtly indicate “flight” given their distinct meanings in various contexts. CRUISE and TAXI could similarly belong to their own categories.

RUMMAGE |
This was the first set of answers I tackled today, positively identifying it after noticing FISH and ROOT. The association with Gollum popped into my mind at that moment, as that’s all I could think about. Despite that, it made the category relatively simple to decipher. I can’t say I’m thrilled about having that little creep lingering in my thoughts, but at least he guided me to the answers so I could move forward.

INLAND |
OLIVIA |
RAN |
WANDA |
This was quite tricky unless you approached it last. The terms bear few similarities, aside from two names that appear to be common female names. However, they are all simply countries with their initial letters removed, presenting a challenging type of Connections puzzle. I often struggle with these puzzles, so it’s best to tackle them last.
