Kamala Harris Joins Stephen Colbert For Late-Night Debut

Just a few weeks ahead of Election Day, Kamala Harris will make her return to late-night television. The Democratic presidential candidate is scheduled to join The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Tuesday, October 8, marking her seventh visit to the show.

Colbert last spoke with Harris in March 2023, while her debut on the program occurred in 2018 when she was a U.S. senator from California. Her appearance coincides with the upcoming appearance of her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, on Jimmy Kimmel Live, which will be his first late-night talk show debut.

Harris’s late-night visits are part of a larger strategy as the Harris-Walz ticket ramps up their campaign efforts in the final stretch. Both candidates will be featured on CBS’s 60 Minutes, and Harris is also slated to appear on the popular podcast Call Her Daddy. This podcast, hosted by Alex Cooper, was Spotify’s second-most popular show in 2023, particularly among female listeners.

Harris participated in the Call Her Daddy interview on October 1, with the episode set to be released on October 6. By blending traditional interviews with appearances on podcasts and late-night shows, the Democratic ticket aims to engage voters who may not follow conventional media outlets. Both Colbert and Kimmel have been critical of Harris’s rival, Donald Trump, at various points during the 2024 campaign season.
