Top Rappa Allies in Honkai: Star Rail You Need to Know

The gameplay of Honkai: Star Rail is significantly influenced by the team compositions and the characters you select. Some characters thrive regardless of their teammates, while others, like Rappa, may experience a notable drop in effectiveness based on their group.

Rappa is a five-star Erudition character with Imaginary as her combat type, primarily relying on Break DMG to maximize her damage output. Unfortunately, her need for specific team setups limits her collaboration options, as there aren’t many characters that complement her play style effectively.

Optimal Rappa Team

Rappa

Main DPS

Ruan Mei

Support

Harmony Trailblazer

Support/Sub-DPS

Lingsha

Healer/Sub-DPS

If you’ve invested in Firefly, you may already recognize this team as the optimal setup for Break-Based DPS characters. In addition to Rappa, Lingsha is a recent addition who perfectly complements this setup. Her follow-up attack consistently weakens the enemy’s Toughness, enhancing Rappa’s effectiveness.

Lingsha can hit all enemies with both her Skill and Ultimate. If the enemy has a Fire Weakness, Lingsha becomes a vital source for breaking Toughness. She also offers single-target and party-wide healing, which keeps your team in fighting shape.

While Lingsha’s effectiveness diminishes without Fire Weakness present, she’s still a reliable healer.

Ruan Mei primarily boosts the team’s Weakness Break Efficiency and hinders the enemy’s recovery after their weakness is broken. Meanwhile, the Trailblazer can unleash extra Super Break DMG with their Ultimate, benefiting both Rappa and Lingsha.

The shared combat type with the Trailblazer allows Rappa to break enemy weaknesses more effectively. With the interplay of these characters’ buffs, Rappa can regularly deal over 200,000 DMG, even with a free-to-play (F2P) friendly setup.

Rappa F2P Team

Honkai Star Rail Rappa, Pela, Trailblazer, Gallagher.

Gallagher

Healer

This setup is particularly advantageous for newcomers to Honkai: Star Rail who may not possess all the rare five-star characters. If you do have Ruan Mei or Lingsha, you can easily swap either for Pela or Gallagher to enhance the team’s overall effectiveness.

The Harmony Trailblazer can be obtained for free through the main storyline or by participating in events. Pela’s primary function in this lineup is to reduce the enemy’s Defense, allowing Rappa to deal significantly more damage. She can also contribute some Toughness DMG against enemies with Ice Weakness.

It’s advisable to prioritize Pela’s basic attack and use Trailblazer’s Skill more frequently to maximize Toughness damage.

Gallagher mainly serves as the team healer but can also put out damage with his Ultimate and bolstered Basic Attack. If healing is insufficient, consider substituting Gallagher with other characters such as Aventurine, Luocha, or Lynx.

Rappa Firefly Team

Honkai Star Rail Rappa, Firefly, Trailblazer, Lingsha.

Lingsha

Support/Sub-DPS

This team composition might appear unconventional when you evaluate the characters and their roles, but it is far more than just a fun idea under the right conditions. Rappa and Firefly are two of the top DPS characters in the game, especially when the enemy cannot conceal its weaknesses.

Rappa requires the enemy to show Imaginary Weakness, while Firefly doesn’t necessarily need it, which is a crucial aspect of this team. When the enemy has Imaginary Weakness, Firefly can apply Fire Weakness with her Skills during boost states, allowing your team to significantly damage the enemy’s Toughness.

This approach may be slightly slower due to the lack of Weakness Break Efficiency, but the increased number of attacks compensates for it.

One apparent issue with this team is the management of Skill Points. Firefly often consumes Skill Points with nearly every action, while Rappa does not generate them effectively. Make sure to utilize Lingsha’s Skill whenever she has a turn, though this isn’t absolutely necessary.

To address Skill Point shortages, it will help to use specific light cones that can regenerate Skill Points, such as Bronya’s and Ruan Mei’s signature cones. Additionally, be sure to use Trailblazer’s basic attack every time they have a chance, even if you have spare Skill Points.
